Their sales are good. Staff have always been friendly. Nothing fancy about it but it does offer the basics. I find produce is too expensive when it isn't on sale, especially for the quality. Herbs are definitely over priced compared to competitors. Lots of parking and conveniently located next to a Pharmacy and Beer Store.

I shopped here today. I had problems with my"tap" at the checkout. I kept trying... it wouldn't work. I was going to have to go home and get my credit card but a man appeared and asked what the problem was and told the cashier to ring off my bill and he said Merry Christmas to me. I said who are you? He said the store manager. I almost cried. Merry Christmas to you Mister and to everyone at Food Basics on Cassells Street in North Bay. Thank you so much. Very appreciated.

Would really like to see that the front produce area as you walk in and got cleaned up I'll just a little bit more. Though I really love that they do carry the very large tortilla wraps for when you want to make those big burritos. They have a wide selection of different produce and Foods though I find that sadly it does spoil quite quickly if you don't use it within 1 to 2 days. The cheaper prices in the fact that this is a long the ride to work and back means that I can easily pick up whatever I need for that day and use it and pay less than where I would anywhere else.

The selection is fair, the staff is fairly friendly, and the prices are good. I don't know if I came on a bad day or not, but today their sale signage was placed on the items next to the items on sale, and when I approached the manager to inform her politely that there may have been a mix up in the sign placement, she got very snappy with me. It isn't fair to get angry with your customers for a mistake in your signage, and its even more unfair to scold and snap at them because other customers have mentioned it, and your staff suggested that maybe I bring it to your attention. Honestly, I felt pretty hurt and will be making an effort to shop at other near-by grocery stores from here on out.

I usually enjoy shopping at Food Basic. This was my first time at this location in North Bay. The prices and cleanliness of the store was pretty good. But The cashier at checkout 6 today at around 1130am was quite rude and doesn't seem to have any customer service skills at all. She needs an attitude change or a new job.

They have one of a kind hazelnut spread here that has white swirls in it and its AMAZING. I haven't been able to find it in any other grocery store so this one is definitely one of a kind. If you enjoy that type of spread I highly suggest you look for and try this hazelnut and white swirl spread, it's in a glass jar similar to nutella shape and it is by far worth the price!!!

Metro and foodbasics used to be one of my favourites in town. But because of the cashiers at there, I'm not very eager to go back there again. The one cashier at foodbasics was extremely rude towards us. And they don't price match. Also their store brand tortilla alwats gets mouldy even many days before BB date. I stopped buying Selection tortillas. Otherwise they have good produces.

One of my favorite grocery stores. Their sales are great and the selection is really good considering they are a lower cost grocery store. The lines can get a little bit long but I imagine that would have to do with staffing levels. By keeping staffing levels a little bit lower the savings get passed on to the customers

The international section is pretty sweet. The veggitables look like they could use some watering but if you stick them in water when we get home they'll be fine. They have a one dollar rack its awesome! And the chips and candy is usually cheap. 1/4 or 1/5 they'll be a good price on something in that store.

Very dissatisfied with this store, I was in yesterday (January 16,2018) and saw the Mio Sport Artic Grape on for 2/$6.00 but when I got to the cash it rung in at 4.27 or 4.29, cashier called and they told her the price was 4.27 or 4.29. showed them the picture I took for the tag (attached below) but it was rudely implied I had taken the picture before that day < when I had taken it 5 min before. had to go show them the tag on the showcase (she removed the tag with the lesser price), and even then, they wouldn’t honor their listed price for 2/$6, manage to get 1 free but was asked to pay full price for the others (when everywhere else in town Mio are on for $3.48, freshmart (Astorville has them for $3) Be careful shopping here, they definitely aren’t there to please the customer, will not be shopping here again.

Prices are good however, so many things are literally rotting in produce.... dried out mini carrots, asparagus that was mushy, peppers with mould, soft garlic bulbs. Tofu pkg open and dripped over other pkgs I could go on about today, unfortunately.I usually have a great experience here, but today was not. Let me say though my cashier was awesome!

Clean,organized and fairly well stocked. Wasn't impressed with the young lady cashier. Attitude told me she really didn't want to be there or just doesn't like people. Almost all stores don't require you to put 18 kilogram boxes of litter on conveyors as I don't think it's healthy for the mechanism. What if I were an elderly, frail individual who could struggle to lift to the weight to the height required. I'm sure the hand held could reach. I think she just didn't want to move from her spot. How do you say; "CUSTOMER SERVICE" Food Basics?

Dec 29th 4:30 p.m. Checked out on express, the cashier was tossing my items down the belt, and my bananas were last. She must have not been pleased with her toss so she literally picked them up and tossed them again! I asked her, "what's wrong with you, Don't throw my food down the belt!" I got what I needed because Food Basics is on my way. Moving forward, I think I'll take the long way home and to another grocery store.

My mother just went home from your store. She was so over the moon. Her tap on her phone would not work and she was about to leave her groceries to go home for her credit card. She was so down. So discouraged after a bad day. Her job is in jeopardy due to covid. It honestly has been so hard for her. All of a sudden, the manager came over and asked what the problem was. When the cashier explained, he wished her a Merry Christmas and gave her the $123 worth of groceries for free. I beyond grateful. You have no idea how much that meant.

Prices are good BUT the produce is terrible. Opened spinach, raspberries and mushrooms next morning and had to throw out (not worth gas to drive back to city) I went for strawberries another time and looking through the bins they were so rotten. Corn was the same. It is not a good deal if you pay money for rotten food. I really hope Food Basics looks into this.

A few weeks ago we went to food basics to pickup Gatorade and popcyles. My 5 year old daughter was very sick and ended up having to stay home for a few weeks. We stopped by to get her stuff to stay hydrates after she had a trip to the hospital for being so dehydrated. It was a very rough week. I was searching for a chocolate calender for her to countdown Christmas but everywhere seemed to be sold out so I gave up. As we were cashing out a young man working offered her a candy can witch out a smile on her face and made her so happy! As we were walking out another female Cashier asked if she could give her a chocolate Calander! And said Santa delivered it specially for her! ???? ???? this totally made her day and mine! We had such a long week and this brightening both our days up! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! The employees at food basics are always so kind at checkout and Its noticed!
