Visited this place 1 week ago....11 women, 5 were celebrating August birthdays! We had a great time but 3 of the dishes were less than ok. Good waitress, excellent presentation of appetizers. BUT the "bacalhau a braz" was NOT good... too dry, not to mention the chef was quite rude to one of the ladies who had not ordered this dish...he should have just brought her what she really wanted! The worst part was that it was bad! The other bife a casa was not that great either...meat was hard to chew on, the fries were not traditional the type you expect to see absorbing the gravy that typically comes with this dish and the egg well not exactly appealing either, it had been put into mold..????????, my "bacalhau de natas" was not good either and too dry. I have had this dish many times and never had it served like as per pic below. The cheese cake was just ok...Not sure why we were not given a choice? Anyway, I can't speak for the rest, only my experience and 3 others!
The food here is VERY good and highly affordable I suggest the egg tarts and mango mousse. The coffee is also excellent.
Personal service by owner and great chef, a place to comeback... Ummm.
Very nice restaurant, authentic portuguese cuisine, sea food ; good esspreso coffe and very good dessert.
Great desert lol it
Tasty meat, but Ridiculously over priced, microscopic tiny proportions, and pressure to hurry up.
Vasco makes the best original Natas out of Portugal. 5 stars well deserved Obrigado!
Amazing food and personels....
(Translated) delicious coffee and wonderful pastries! (Original) вкусное кофе и прекрасная выпечка!
Love! Great food, great pastries!
(Translated) Excellent Natas especially with coconut ???????? (Original) Excellente Natas surtout à la noix de coco ????????
Wonderful meal. The service was amazing! My friend had a salmon dish that had a beautiful taste. I haven't had a better bifanas sandwich in a long time. Left with tasty desserts too!
Nice cafe with good food
Good. But a little over priced
Very delicious tarts, lived up to the hype
Food was ok, but over charged. Sweets are good but I am not going again.
Casa dad Natas best Portuguese cafe/bakery/grill. in Niagara Falls. Finally a good portugese joint outside the GTA and much needed too. Vasco the owner was very welcoming classy guy. Wide variety food from pastery to grilled Portuguese chicken . Support the cause and the Portuguese community. And come to Casa Das Natas Niagara Falls.
Had a few pastries including natas...was very happy!!
Returning for the Portuguese sandwhiches. The veal is delicious.
Love the tarts but pretty overpriced, owner is decent.
Great restaurant, great food, great service, great family environment! Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Niagara!
(Translated) Portuguese food very close to the Niagara Falls. (Original) Comida portuguesa muito perto das cataratas de Niagara.
Insanely good
"Hidden Gem" is what other reviewers have said, and it's a fitting description. Don't let this little place's appearance dissuade you - it's simple on the outside, but the "wow" factor awaits inside. Chef Vasco was welcoming and attentive. I ordered our meal to go; food was not fast, but was totally worth the wait. The smell alone indicated the flavor. We tried the bacalhau abraz (cod mixed with potato), shrimp (well seasoned, but it was only shrimp - not a platter), chicken churrasco (cooked to perfection), bifana (pork sandwich), and caldo verde (kale soup with spicy sausage). For dessert, I got a coconut tart, rocky road brownie, apple square, and chocolate roll - all were great and not overly sweet. Definitely worth a try if you want good Portuguese food. Obrigado, Vasco!
Great natas and great coffee, loved it! The owner is very nice too. Clean place.
My friend recommended this place after a trip to Niagara Falls. Come to Casa Das Natas for the pastries or catering, prepare to leave famished if you're looking for a meal. I had high expectations of Casa Das Natas after reading the reviews and checking out the photos. I planned on ordering a number of items to try all the dishes and pastries people recommended. We visited the restaurant on Sept 7, 2020. Things started going sour from the beginning. The owner greeted me and began taking my order. I asked for one of the soups then he informed me he doesn't make soups in the summer. Alright, that's fine. Then I asked for the one of the entrees to which he said it's unavailable. I asked him what dishes can I order and instead of telling me what he has in stock, he just asks me what I want to eat. While taking my order, he was also having a casual conversation with one of the patrons across the room. I felt rushed and tbh fairly disrespected. He was also out of Shrimp Pastries or any of the savoury pastries. Finally, he points to the Cod a Chef and mentions he can also make a roast beef. I went with the Cod a Chef because it seems like the restaurant is known for their seafood. The Cod a Chef was tasty but not worth $28. The portion size was too small and the taste didn't justify the price tag. The Portuguese Egg Tart (star of the show) had a tough pastry shell that looked undercooked. I was so disappointed. In the time that we were there, customers were coming in and out with boxes of pastry. Clearly I should have went elsewhere for lunch and came here only for dessert.
The creme brulee custard tarts are to die for. Their dinner menu looks great too. Must get back to try
I had their Portuguese custard tart, it was burnt, old, and stale. Didn't have anything else so I'm not sure what their other stuff is like.
The place is cute and all, but the egg tarts' crust was chewy instead of flaky and all I could taste from brownies was the butter ans sugar. Kinda had high expectations I guess.
A friend took us to this little pastry/restaurant yesterday. Omg. First glance when we arrived. I thought what were they thinking. Although they said it was amazing and great food and service. I must say. I was a little bit wary. But omg Looks can be deceiving. From the moment we walked in. We felt at home. Chef Vasco was there to greet us at the door. And it just kept getting better and better. The food was amazing. Beautifully spiced to perfection. The portions huge the total service was stellar. I would recommend and encourage all to try this place. I know I will definitely be back. Thank you chef Vasco for a great meal. And thank you for taking the time to sit down with us and giving everyone a complementary drink. You rock.
Amazing place! Passed by here by accident and I just had to walk in. A little slice of Portugal! Excellent pastries, amazing food like mom used to make. And saint Jorge cheese and chouriço to take home mmm. Fully recommend coming here. Sit back and enjoy some Sagres or superbock. Signed, one happy porkchop!
Cod fish very well ✔
Great selection of fresh homemade pastries and coffees. One of the best spots in the area!! Highly recommended
Excellent coffee and pastries!!
The food is satisfactory but pricey. We spent $70 for the meals below + 1 can of pop and 2 cupcake size desserts. For that same price I can get a larger variety of dishes from Mario's of Cooksville good for 5 people.
we had grilled grouper which was so fresh it seemed like I still in Portugal! and my husband had a steak done to perfection followed by espresso and pastries to die for..the owner was delightful.. what a find , I would recommend this place to anyone
Perfect espresso, crispy and well-balanced pastel de nata, super fresh and nicely hand made apple crumble and friendly server make me feel I visited one of the best Portuguese coffee shops in Niagara/ Toronto.
Fabulous food and the owner is a delight to talk to. If you get a chance, pass by and get some pastries. You will find a new favorite restaurant. First chance I get I'm going there for dinner.
Excellent portuguse food
Good natas. A little pricey on lunch meals but over all is good.
Pastries were very good. Food was ok. Not a big selection of food. Menu was written on a little piece of notebook paper.
Chef Extraordinaire Casa Das Natas is a few minutes’ walk off the beaten path & tourist trap area. Aside from having the best Portuguese natas, (custard tarts,) the owner, Vasco, is a chef extraordinaire! There’s many traditional Portuguese dishes to choose from, & if you haven't had Portuguese cuisine, you don't know what you're missing! We found this gem because it was a minute walk from our Hotel; my husband being Portuguese had to get natas. When he returned to the hotel he surprised me with a special seafood rice dinner, (Arroz de Marisco) reservation to celebrate our elopement wedding the following day. We love Arroz de Marisco - which is a seafood rice dish with crab, lobster, clams, jumbo shrimp, octopus, & New Zealand mussels. When we arrived, Vasco had a nice table for two set up & took it upon himself to select the perfect Portuguese white wine that was the best we'd had! The dinner was spectacular & Vasco was a wonderful, charming host. We will be returning in November to Niagara Falls and without doubt, will be eating more fabulous Portuguese food prepared by this chef extraordinaire- Vasco!
Wonderful owner. Excellent prices. Pastries are to die for!!
We stumbled onto this fantastic place. The seafood and rice was so flavorful, with generous seafood. Veal was delicious, and the roasted chicken was perfectly crispy. Service was very friendly and the meals were ready quickly. Excellent pastries too!
Good food & friendly service.
What a sweet man! This chef is not to be trifled with he sure knows his stuff! Today i came in and bought FRESH NATAS at 5:00pm on a saturday which is unheard of in Toronto as rhe natas usually sit out all day long and taste horrible but these ones have flavour and tasted delectable! So happy i passed by this place.Wish i had tried the cannolis :( Next time im in niagara!
A great stop for a coffee and tarts
Best Portuguese food in Niagara, including top notch custard tarts!
A little hidden gem. Delicious Portuguese pastries made in house. Highly recommended.
Amazing and authentic Portuguese cuisine. Desserts are spectacular. They offer catering services. They also serve very good coffee and espresso drinks!
Great and delicious Natas. The service is super amazing. We will come back.
Excellent food and service
The pastries were amazing and incredible value. The guy was really sweet and friendly. Definitely coming back when I’m in the area again.
As we were leaving town, we saw this place and my husband pulls over and goes "Here's $12, go get some pastries!" We got a box full! The gentleman inside that helped us was so friendly, and the display case had my mouth watering. Not a surprise this place is rated 4.8! Six pastries for $12 is amazing.
I bought a variety of baked desserts and ate them before I could take a photo. They were delectable. This eatery is a nice quaint place redolent with Portuguese cooking and a European feel. The dinner menu looked good and I will return.
Great coffee dessert
Service is good and prices fantastic. Great homemade food and pastries. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a taste for Portuguese pastries
I loved everything about this place. The owner was very friendly! Will definitely go back here every time I visit Niagara. All the pastries we ordered were honestly soooo good. My personal favourites are the fruit tarts and cheesecake. Highly recommend this place!
(Translated) I love everything they sell, the staff is very attentive. It is a clean and cozy place. I go with my family whenever I can. (Original) Adoro todo lo que venden, el personal es muy atento. Es un lugar limpio y acogedor. Voy con mi familia cada vez que puedo.
Vasco's is a local gem. Authentic Portuguese appetizers and entrees will make you return and return, but his pastries will make you never leave!
Not sure what to say... Literally everything I tried was top notch.
Had an amazing Birthday dinner with my family the food was delicious I can't wait to go back for more... Go try it you won't be disappointed.
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly, great pastries, and a great cappuccino!
Nice try it
Tucked away niagara gem. A few streets from clifton hill lies one of the best kept secrets in the city. Casa das natas has the most delicious selection of pastries and tarts (apple crumble, cheesecake, butter tarts, rum balls, portugeuse tarts). Tgey also have a lunch and dinner menu I have not had a chance to try yet which includes fish, beef and chicken. I believe you need to order ahead for the meals. Staff is very welcoming. Covid measures are in place.
Excellent coffee, pastries and service! A great place to have a great talk!
Not at all a friendly person the owner Vasco, also was not wearing his mask to serve people, people were dining inside, we bought some tarts and different kind of cupcakes had better from a coffee truck
A must try Portuguese restaurant, with excellent selection of pasties. The starter shrimp is incredible.
Octopus was great
Good food, reasonable prices and very friendly service.
Fresh pastries, friendly and fast service. We love their custard and butter tarts!
Nice quiet restaurant. Food is awesome ( that is an understatement). Prices are reasonable . Vasco the owner is very friendly and tries to accommodate everyone
Close to early. Didn't make it in.
Nice little Portuguese restaurant. Visited in the afternoon.Took home some desserts. tarts. croissants. Feb 11 Valentine meal for $30.00. Seating at 12 and 3.
Everyone that goes to Niagara Falls should visit this amazing Portuguese bakery that will also welcome you with a smile but will serve you a amazing meal . Love their pastries.
Amazing food. Vasco is crazy but great. Must go. You gotta eat here.
Great food
Nice place and people small and cozy. ????????
Their Portuguese custard tarts are amazing. Great treat once in awhile with a cappuccino. Very courteous and friendly owner who serves you personally. Prices are very reasonable and this is my go to place for treats.
Lovely coffee, lovely pastries too. If you want a nice coffee away from the tourist parts then come here!
For those that have had the Portuguese chicken at the st. Lawrence market in Toronto this is as good if not slightly better. Natas are amazing ad well!!!!
This is a GEM of a place in the Niagara area. We stopped by here for a quick breakfast on our way home to Toronto. Their pastries are delicious! Also, the gentleman who helped us was so so kind; we were out of milk for our toddler and he helped us out. Definitely stop by here if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed :)
I had the custard tart and wow was it ever good. I actually had it a day after I bought it and it tasted so crunchy and delicious that I wish I had bought more. Overall A+
A lot of high ratings from people who haven't gone out and tasted good food. Although the price is cheap so are the ingredients. They could charge more and produce a better product
Food was soso but price was ridiculous. If you want to waste some bucks yeah go ahead. There is no proper serving. It was hot inside (no A/C). Totally disaster.
I just finished on of their delicious pecan tarts and broghtcsome natas and "deer print" baked goods to work for a treat. Baked items ate made fresh on site by the owner. The deli counter with Portuguese cheeses and the take out menu looked great as well. It will be our new coffee date spot!
Amazing atmosphere, with patio and great variety and choice of food. One of the best Portugese restaurant in Niagara
Great restaurant , a place to try. lunch was great , and reasonable prices
We found this wonderful place on our way home from Niagara Falls and are we happy we did! Vasco the owner greeted us with a big smile and after asking a few questions because it was our first time trying Portuguese food we all ordered the Pork and Clams. Which turned out to be the best meal we had on our trip! We could hear the chef working in the back to prepare our meal - freshly, on the spot, it was not pre-cooked and reheated. We had to wait a short while but - Oh My Goodness - it was so worth it. The term first you eat with your eyes - truly did happen for us. Our plates were beautiful! When we all began to taste each component of the dish, each one of us were blown away at how delicious it was. The pork and clams were perfectly cooked, the potatoes cubes had a buttery texture and the dish was garnished with pickled cauliflower and carrots which were the perfect addition! If that wasn’t delicious enough we tried Vasco’s Portuguese custard tart - it was WONDERFUL, so wonderful that all four of us had to take home a box of delicious pastries. There were so many beautiful options in the display case I wanted to take one of each! Thanks Vasco for a wonderful end to our Niagara trip!
Amazing Portuguese treats and coffee. It's a welcome break to be a bit off-the-beaten tourist track of Clifton and in a neighborhood. (It's nice.) Honest prices, nice pastries, outdoor tables with umbrellas. Two coffees and a bunch of stuff (pics) was ~$20 CAD - awesome. (Screw Starbucks, walk an extra block, get better stuff, and support a local business owner who serves you things he's proud of making. :)
Best Natas I ever had!
The best little spot in town. Authentic Portuguese cuisine from the owner himself. Love the coffee and natas.
Excellent food and service! We will definitely be back.!
Great coffee and service :)
awesome place to get real coffee. Buttertarts are unbelievable
Nice Portuguese pastries. Very delicious and a huge selection. The service is very friendly. Coffee is good if the owner makes it. They have an espresso machine.
Empty.
Food is great. Simple no frills counter service.
Excellent service great food well done
My husband and I popped in on our way back to Toronto. The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly. We bought a mixture of amazing sweets and he gave us 8 natas for free. Loved the desserts as they weren’t super sweet like others we’ve had in the past. We would definitely go back and enjoy some wine ????. It’s definitely some place we would return to.
Just picked up some custard and pecan tarts. They are delicious. I wish I bought two dozen!! And that I lived closer to this bakery. I’d be a regular!
Awsome place... Lovely Portuguese tarts
Nos Portugueses would like to thank the chef, Vasco for preparing an amazing seafood meal. The chef cooks with love and passion. The cooking segment will air October 27, 2019 10:00 am on OMNI.
Scrumptious tarts!!! Had to get a box to last the 2 days I was in Niagara and was still drooling for more by the end of my trip. Flavour more prominent when refrigerated. A gem to find among the surrounding oversweet touristy frozen treats in the area. Give the owners some love and make this your next stop for delicious Portuguese sweets.
Good Food quality
Good food and good service
Super cute and clean cafe with a super friendly man behind the counter. The pastries we got were all super tasty. My only complaint would be that they were cold, but we also went in the middle of December and didn’t ask him to heat them up for us. Next time we come we’ll definitely try them heated, and maybe with some coffee on the side.
this a great place
Outstanding pastries!! We now compare all desserts to the "Famous Portuguese tarts!"
food is good but hours are terrible, even if they say they are open I suggest calling as they are constantly closing for private functions. Only notice is to drive there an find a note on the door, very annoying when you drive 1hr
OMG.. Turned around once I saw the Portuguese Tart signage. This place is incredible, pastry to die for! The owner is alot of fun, he really knows this industry, QUALITY..
Delicious food and desserts
Good place to get some espresso and natas
If you are looking for authentic portugese hospitality, home cooked food, the best pastry and coffee, this is a must go place. If you have never been to Portugal, visit Casa Das Natas and you will be planning your next vacation.
Found out about Casa Das Natas through a chance drive by on my way to another restaurant. Being a fan of seafood I figured I would give it a try. Ordered the Seafood Platter for 4. Chef Vasco knows what he's doing! Incredible flavor and incredible value! Will be coming back soon! Thank you Chef Vasco!
Both things I had were amazing
Holly unbelievably delicious custard tarts. Very friendly service as well.
Always a good place to go for an excellent meal. Their signature pastry (pastel de nata) alone is worth a visit.
Had the pleasure of trying one of the owners Portuguese Steak sandwiches ! Wow absolutely incredible flavour , I look forward to bringing my entire family here . 100% Recommended ????
(Translated) Great and authentic Portuguese food. Can definitely be recommended. (Original) Tolles und authentisch portugiesisches Essen. Kann man auf jeden Fall empfehlen.
If you are looking for portuguese food in Niagara falls, this is the place to go. If you are a seafood lover, you got to eat here. Vasco is an excelente cook and as a pastry chef, he as the best portuguese desserts. Great hospitality. Totally recommend "CASA DAS NATAS".
Great authentic portuguese bakery. Bakeries tasted amazing.
Stopped in for lunch. Tasty bifana but $36.00 for 1 sandwich, 2 waters and 1 espresso... REALLY??? Way, way overpriced.
Pastries are okay, service was bad. We came in close to 6pm without a reservation. Didn't want to serve us till I mentioned we were only here for coffee and some pastries. They visibly did not want us to be there, the waiter did not take our drink order or direct us on how to order. Had to go up to the front and place my order for coffee and pastries. Ordered lattes, light on the expresso, hot choclate and a tea latte. They did not know what a tea latte was. Served us regular lattes and hot milk with a tea bag of licorice. Edit: the waiter looks to be undertrained, could not handle payment transactions, chef seems to be a one man show making the drinks and settling the bill. Update: looking back on it, we were the only poc's, staff and everyone one else in the cafe were white. A very biased experience.
Ordered Steak. Yuck! From frozen with an odd taste. Server was rude to say the least. We wete there as a Wedding Party & this eas NOT the olace to go!
Good stuff!
Delicious sweets and amazing seafood! The pecan butter tarts were soooo good. Owner was super friendly too.
