Nice little stop on the way to L'Anse aux Meadows. There's lots of local crafts and foodstuffs; art and books. Nice place to pick up gifts and souvenirs - or just grab a bite of chocolate that is made on site.

Kathleen Mulherin

I really like the Hats

Renée F MacDonald

My husband and I enjoyed a sculpin cone each. There were only 4 ice cream flavors to choose from for the sculpin cone, my husband expressed he would've liked more options but I didn't mind the options. I chose partridgeberry and blueberry for my cone--the blueberry I found delicious as well as the cone which was like a soft waffle. As well, we ordered a coffee each. The coffee was pretty tasty. The service was friendly. The cafe had a nautical theme and was very appealing.

Wonderful, friendly people who can give you the scoop on all things Newfoundland. Take the whale watching excursion if the weather permits, browse their store, eat their baked goods, jams and sweets. Its the best place in town!

Maureen Canam

Excellent food and service! Also bought a cute t-shirt in the gift shop.

On the way to St. Anthony's and Lance Aux Meadows. Lovely store. Great jam.

Customers are seated among historic artifacts and the menu is somewhat unusual, but the cod chowder was very good.

Michael Valdivielso

We stopped here to grab some tourist stuff. You know, candy. Nice little shop. Didn't even know about the cafe upstairs till I peeked at some of the other reviews. But at the time we were not looking for food.

nice stop for a light meal and drink after visiting L'Anse aux Meadows.

Monika Coutts

Lots of variety of local crafts at good prices. Well worth the stop.

The gift shop has a wide variety of Newfoundland souvenirs, some of which are outrageously priced. Café Nymphe, located upstairs, had the best blueberry crumble and cheesecake that I ever tasted. I would definitely recommend this stop if you're in the area.

Peter Sorensen

Great little shopping spot, especially the jams and jellies, and a nice little cafe up stairs with a museum display. Highly recommended.

Well what a day we had with Dark Tickle Expeditions......I could talk about the whales or the icebergs but they are not guarantees but chances are you wills see something. What I can talk about is the proffessionalism but still felt like we were going out for a boat ride with family. Why? For starters the boat itself, solid built fiberglass hull with inflatable tubes for stability, twin Yamaha (most reliable outboards) power the boat and having 2 engines adds to the comfort factor of taking my family out. I come from a marine background and would not have gone out in a substandard boat. Along Being well built, stability, reliability they were equiped with the last electronics as well as rescue devices. So......looking for a couple hours of adventure and the chance to see things you may never see again combined with safety and that down home feeling, Dark Tickle Expeditions is the way to go when your up in Northern Newfoundland.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cafe Nymphe. Their upstairs cafe is beautiful and cozy, with antiques and old fishing artifacts about the village's history. The food was delicious - everything we ordered was beautifully presented, flavorful, and fresh: from their carrot soup, tuna sandwiches, and assortment of incredible baked goods. Definitely a stop not to be missed!

When we decided to visit NF, our friend asked asked us to bring her some Dark Tickle Blueberry Jam if we saw some. Yeah, right. Well darned if we didn’t trip over the factory and store out here in BF nowhere! Slid the rental to a stop and $100 later we were hoping that we had enough clothes to wrap around all the jars of jams and spreads and stuff we bought. Everything made it home safe and sound but we will have to get back for replenishment some day! P.S. - you can buy this in S. Ont if you look close enough, but it’s not the same adventure.

Cute shop and cafe with actually good Newfoundlander (not me but a friend ate with us) pan fried fish cakes. Great spicing. Tasty thin crust pizza loaded w cheese and toppings. And good jam in the shop all the local types of berries.

Horst Herbert

I just had the most expensive ice-cream ever and it was nothing special. The stores clerk is very unfriendly. I do not recommend this business.

Words cannot fully describe the experience you will have with Kier and Glenn guiding you on your tour in the highly safe and secure zodiac type boat. Every aspect of your journey is carefully planned, all aspects of safety considered so you only need to focus on your exploration. Feeling the spray of the ocean on your face simply adds to you being immersed in the sights and sounds. Your experience will be different than my experience, unique to you, and no less exciting, breathtaking and memorable. Whales, seals, birds, icebergs and more! Dark Tickle tours (you'll learn why it's called that as well) is simply a must when you are in the area. Book ahead, secure your seat, climb aboard. Simply... Wow!! You won't regret it.

Probably the most prominent local product for the province of Newfoundland, the Dark Tickle Company is a nice stop to make. They do a good job of marrying the manufacturing, shop and marketing of the product along with other local products by artisans in the area. I like the feel of the shop as it has lots of their own product and showcases other places that have plenty of skilled artists. The biggest selection of the Dark Tickle products was seen here even though you’ll see it throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. There is not a guided tour or anything but you can watch the preserve makers do their thing with the various berries in a sealed area in the back. They also sell dog and cat related items… they sell dog food probably for locals and there is this fun dog collar that is patterned with mummers! If it came in cat size, I would have gotten 2. There is a few cat items from a local artist too so you just have to look. The other art pieces like labradorite (not the biggest selection I saw on our trip) or ceramics have a Newfoundlander twist that will make you either chuckle or smile warmly. If you are looking for something authentic to bring home, do make the time to stop by and see what lovely things they have. I am not certain if the cafe is part of the shop but there is a place to have a light lunch or snack upstairs. The decor is fitting and cozy and not too busy both times we were there. I found that the food was good and the service good. Prices are as I expect of a cafe so a good place to stop by for a short meal.
