A local cafe in the new Westminster downtown area on the front street nearby the pier next to the train track. May be possible to have a chance for train watching if one passes by while you visit the shop; you may need to speak very loud to talk to your friends if you are there with them. Simple menu with hot and cold drinks along with some snack for sale. They also sale some coffee beans and powder if you are interested.

Hit or miss. Belgian mocha frapp was amazing, the oreo frapp was terrible. Sickeningly sweet with an extremely artificial flavour that tasted like medicine. Mocha frapp was great however, and I don't even like coffee. Make sure to specify vegan though as otherwise they add condensed milk and whipped cream. Decent selection of vegan goodies from bonus bakery and to live for. Staff were nice. A bit expensive though.

One of my favorite coffee places if not my all time favorite. Whenever I'm in the area, I always make sure to stop by for my favorite drink. They don't take cash, so just know that. And they have real straws and not paper straws

This one is my favorite in the entire area. Fantastic coffee (I love their pour overs) + plenty of delicious pastries to choose from. Nice cozy atmosphere and nice staff too.

Pearl Wong

Friendly service and nice cookies. The drinks are also good. It's a decent cafe. The downside is lack of seating spaces.

Got some Donuts from the cafe a couple of weeks ago. A bit pricey but they taste really good. It reminds me of Cartems! They have limited quantities of Donuts a day so grabbing one early is recommended. They are locater along Front Street which is a nice stop after a stroll along the quay. I haven't tried the other items in their menu but I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Nice cafe, would love to revisit once inside seating is allowed again (a bit too noisy with constant trucks/construction outside). The outdoor seating still works given the constraints. Staff were very friendly and positive. Their lavender earl grey was brewed perfectly - not overly sweet nor overdone. I appreciated them taking out the tea bag as well. Their meringue bars are so good too. Less sweet than a macron but similar texture.

i had their ultimate chocolate cake and it was by far the worst chocolate cake i've ever eaten in my life. it had no chocolate flavour AT ALL (i had my friend try it and she agreed), and was quite dry as well. definitely overpriced for the quality you're getting. coffee was good.

Coffee Adventure

Their coffee is quite good, but I like their pastries more. They have lots of varieties. I've tired a few of them, and liked them all. However, the price is on the high side for both the coffee and the pastries. One thing that sort of bothered me was that the pastries are not covered. They're behind a semi-open glass window, right beside the cash counter. In this day and age, where people are ore aware of viruses and contaminations, I hope they'll redesign that to provide better coverage of the food.

Doc Parker

An OK experience. A simple coffee bar with a few tables and chairs. Not great if you're in a hurry, and a somewhat pricey for amount of food ýou get and the time it takes to get there.

Visited on Sunday afternoon, plenty of tables and seats. WiFi and socket outlet available for laptop or USB ports. Not much food options mainly cakes and cookies, coffee was great, London Fog is highly recommended. The nearby neighborhood of downtown New Westminster is such a quiet and relaxing atmosphere for weekend chill out or reading time. Much to enjoy!

Very cute place! We’ve actually been in the pre-covid times, so could enjoy the unusual seats inside. The latte was great! We didn’t get a large selection of baked goodies though at that visit. We are planning to try donuts soon!

Overeating Biryani

Belgian mocha and iced Vietnamese coffee were really good. The seating outside is so perfect to enjoy sunshine and perfectly located to grab coffee and walk the pier park.

It is a hidden coffee shop next to a train track in New Westminster. We searched on Yelp and found it. There was street parking or pay parking. Pay parking is not expensive. It was $1 for an hour. We originally decided to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in this coffee shop but it was full. Some people just went in by themselves. One person took a table of two seats laying out his or her books, laptops or stuff. Some people came here with friends. At the end we bought a cup of iced latte for takeout. The cup of iced latte tasted a bit sour due to the coffee beans but it tasted good. The coffee beans came from Pallet coffee shop. The interior design was quite contemporary. Colours, decorations, furniture selection and presentation made the ambience quite comfortable. Only the location was away from the main street and it was hidden on the other side of the road. If you didn’t check on the map, you would not know there was a coffee shop. If I live in the neighbourhood, I would come back here for a coffee and enjoy their pastries.

This is a busy cafe down on Front Street. I find their baristas always running back and forth, working really hard every time I visit. It’s usually a line up on the weekend, but they always apologize for the wait in a professional way that I love. In this challenging time, I’m so glad that they still open and getting busier! Come on Sunday if you want to try their Donut; the Brown Butter is always my holy grail.

First time visiting this coffee shop. Ordered an American misto with soy, and it was perfect! I love it when I get a well made drink! Will definitely return!

Super cute cafe. Loving the interior rustic/ modern design, and the location as it’s by the Quay. Tried their Ice cappuccino and was quite impressed. Haven’t tried any of their baked goodies this time around. Nice staff

Lucia Alonso

Good cappuccinos! I drank mine before taking a picture, so I took pictures of the space. It really nice decorated and clean! Also the people working here are really friendly.

Emilis

Nice to see more cafes around front Street. Very nice interior design, spacious. Owners should introduce more pastries like crossaints. Coffee was great, can recommend Kenya pourover. Strange that it's closed on Sunday mornings!

Hive Cafe is one of the best local coffee and breakfast food spots in New West for locals and tourists alike. Tucked away in the hip downtown core, the cafe itself is always very clean and bright. Amazing food. I highly recommend the caramel frappuccino or any of their coffee drinks, as their coffee beans are rich and delicious. For food, you can't go wrong with one of their breakfast sandwiches. And their walnut cookies are soft and delightful. Eggs are delicious, veggies and sprouts are always fresh and crisp. If you're a tourist, I highly recommend taking your coffee to go, crossing the train walks at the crossway, and going down to the quay. You can have a beautiful, quiet, crisp morning stroll along the quay and there are benches along the water to eat food. Takeout: I've ordered from Hive through a few times during the pandemic, through UberEats. And there's always a nice little "Thank you Kamila" note on the bag. Very personalized touch, especially during a pandemic when people are feeling very distant. Also, on a personal note: Nobody ever offers sweet pickles as a side with breakfast sandwiches here! It reminds me of back home, which I haven't been able to visit since the pandemic. I rarely ask for extra side items, but I didn't see an option to pay for more pickles on UberEats, so today I left a note asking for extra pickles, if possible. And they did! They didn't have to do that, but they did and I really appreciated it. They loaded it up so now I'm happily munching away :)

Superb cafe!!! Such quality and variety with lots of vegan stuff too... I'm drinking an oatmilk latte right now and it's wonderful!

Beautiful interior. Food was okay

Lovely cafe. Great coffee! They carry Bonus vegan cookies, which are amazing! I had them the previous time i went, because they only get them twice a week :)

I was there on Friday morning, there was a short line, and I had to wait about 8 minutes for my turn to order. The 2 girls working that day were running back and forth as they experienced a system breakdown. They apologized to me politely for the wait, and to me, the incident happens, the girls were super polite and professional handled it. About the food: I got a turkey and Swiss sandwich on multigrain, which is so tasty and fresh. I also had an iced Belgium chocolate with whip cream and oat milk! Devine! Overall: the food n drink are outstanding. The service was excellent. I will come back more often for lunch.

The place is very nice and aesthetic! Is not super peaceful but I'd a good vibe. Drinks aren't super good but if you wanna spend some time doing work/studying it's definitely a spot.

Delicious food and drinks!! The cafe looks nice and decent, perfect for taking photos. They have a lot of choices for sandwiches, pastry and drinks. There are vegan and gluten-free options as well. I tried the vietnamese coconut frappe, coconut dacquoise, tiramisu cake and they were so goodddd. Definately come back to try other stuff!!

Unless you want rude baristas, terrible drinks, and dried out food, do not come here. Came here for the first time with high expectations because of the amazing reviews, but we were extremely disappointed and even giving a 1/5 stars is too much. Despite there being 4 workers, 2 were constantly on the delivery tablet, 1 at the front till was extremely rude, and 1 was taking very long to make 2 drinks while there was a line up to the door. Asked the girl on till a couple questions about if the Vietnamese coffee normally comes with 2% milk, and she said it as a given and said “it’s cow milk.” Don’t offer delivery service if you can’t focus on the customers in cafe first. Aesthetic is nice, but I would not recommend or come back.

The staffs are great and very patient. They also have dairy- free options. Great services and good coffee.

My favorite cafe in New Westminster. It’s a hidden gem that’s kind of tucked away from the main street. Chill atmosphere and friendly staff! Just steps away from the Quay.

Vivian

You MUST try their Dacquoise Cookies! It’s crunchy on the outside and the buttercream in the middle is to die for!!! It’s also gluten friendly! I tried their Mango Coconut flavor last time and I had to come back for more.

Cute & modern cafe located along Pier Park in New West on Front St near the New West Quay. I’d recommend using the paid parking lot a walkable distance (~15min walk) to the café in the “Shops of New West” where the Landmark Cinema is located. There’s also small strip of paid available right in front of the café, but it’s a bit more difficult to enter the lot, there’s limited spaces, and I’m not sure how much it costs. Very nice to visit especially when it’s sunny, I came on a good day and sat on the patio which overlooks the water. My order: Avocado Hummus Toast ($7.75): this was very reasonably priced, and is served on a thin piece of sour dough bread, and topped with arugula and balsamic vinegar. Very flavourful and good use of ingredients on top (they don’t cheap out) Carrot Cake ($6.85): Super moist cake with real cream cheese, this was hands down my favourite item here along with the strong Viet iced coffee. Red Velvet Cake ($6.85): tad bit too sweet for me, but I’m also not a fan of Red Velvet cake in general personally. It’s moist though. Matcha & Almond Drop Cookies ($3.25), Red Velvet Cookie w/ Cream Cheese ($3.50) & Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.25): Cookies were jumbo and very soft. Classic choco chip was my fave cookie. Red velvet had a cream cheese filling (too sweet). Matcha flavour wasn’t strong, but still enjoyable to eat. Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($4.50): strong and yummy, I’d recommend this as well. Matcha Frappé ($5.95): matcha flavour was on the weak side unfortunately, and it’s super creamy (especially with the whipped cream). I’d say it’s even creamier than Starbucks’ matcha frappe. I’d also recommend getting it half sweet.

The atmosphere in the Hive Cafe is so cozy and pretty. Their scones and croissants are impressive. The workers are polite and friendly. I love their Iced mocha with oatmilk. Creamy and tasty.

This is a nice cafe with friendly staff. I ordered a breakfast wrap & a tiramisu latte. The breakfast wrap was good but it tasted like a frozen breakfast wrap that I usually buy from Wal-Mart. The tiramisu latte was something I hadn't seen at any other cafe before, so it was definitely something that I am glad I tried. My friends ordered various cakes, which I had a bite of .. and they didn't taste too great. All you could really taste was the icing. There is very limited seating and ordering took forever. I probably wouldn't come back. Gave it a 3/5 because the staff were nice and the tiramisu latte was good.

We got most of our orders through doordash and never once were disappointed with the food / drinks we got. Super cute notes from their staff every time. This is always a nice treat to me and my husband on a busy work day at home.

Love this place :-) they have done so well at not only staying open during covid lockdown, but taking so many measures to be a safe place to get your coffee, treats, and some friendly chats with the barista. And Front Street is a great hidden gem to catch some sun and river views!

Jessica Park

Unquestionably, the best coffee shop in the area! The atmosphere inside this coffee shop was very vibrant and relaxing. I will definitely rate them a five-star for everything that they provided. Truly amazing! Thank you so much, guys!

The overall experience was a good one. The only constructive I had was the pastries I had. I found the croissants texture to not be as buttery as other bakeries I've had in the lower mainland. For the price you pay I would expect a better quality one. However outside of that I found the place to be quite nice. Parking in the area can be difficult sometimes but the Cafe has a nice vibe to it. The staff who work here were friendly and the coffee was good as well. I would still return if I was in the area but I will probably try their other baked goods next time instead to see if they are a better choice for me.

Excellent place to work or chat with friends. Spacious tables, very sleek and clean environment and the staff are really friendly. I would recommend the Flat White. or if you want something a little sweet the Mocha is great, not overpoweringly sweet. Great quiet place to work and excellent coffee!
