I still refer to this as "Donald's market" and have been coming here for years because some things I can only get here. Certain Italian cheese, some great meat, local fruits and veggies, a big selection of European products that I miss from back home, huge selection of healthy foods, treats and health products. Lots of snack options if you like that, dried fruits and nuts, all sorts of baking flour I can't find elsewhere, just a great selection especially for someone who loves to eat real, healthy food. Overall it's one of my my favorite stores price wise and selection wise. Keep up the great work!

The prices are reasonable and the amount of products you find in the store is staggering. The only complaint might be that sometimes there's only one cashier causing a long line up on the odd occasion.

A well stocked market with TONS of vegan and specialty selections, including a full line of our PlantBase Foods! The store is great for walking in or driving,is accessible, and the staff is very friendly. We love dealing with these folks as vendors and I love coming here as a customer. We were here on a busy Saturday and Sunday and the lineups were always very light, even though they were busy as heck! Good bulk section, awesome produce, and all sorts deals. Vega One and Performance sport was on for less than $40 for the large ones as an example of great deals available here. :)

Good prices, and the points system they have is awesome. 3000 points (1$ spent = point) gives you a $100 gift certificate for the store. If you shop there a lot like me, it adds up!

Does everyone check their receipt? It has happened to me 3 times in the recent few months that cashier chose the more expensive option of the same produce. Never the other way around. Although it is always a minor extra cost, perhaps management should spend more time on produce knowledge training of staff.

Great place for vegan and organic foods. Price is a bit on the expensive side but if you are a sausage lover and a vegan I would definitely recommend this place. This place has a huge selection of sausage and vegan products. They do also have a variety of juices, which you may not be able to find in other stores. Few blocks away from the New Westminster sky train station.

I regularly shop here primarily for fresh fruits and veggies, cheese, and eggs. Prices here are comparable to large supermarkets (and even cheaper at Donald's if the item is on promo), but the quality is better. Cheese is mostly European which I like more and it is more affordable than in the large supermarkets. Overall, this place is great for vegan, healthy, and organic items which are reasonably priced and good quality.

Once Donald's and now firmly branded as City Avenue Market, this grocery store is a wonderful gem tucked into the Eastern end of the River Market. When I lived downtown on Columbia, it was my favorite spot to pop in and grab groceries. While they don't have absolutely everything, there is a surprising wealth of interesting, local, and obscure items organized into a medium-sized space. Be sure to check out the cold drinks assortment, the cheeses at the deli counter, and some cool baked goods.

Great prices for a neighbourhood market and the service is fantastic. The addition of La Grotta Del Formaggio is amazing, they do custom panini orders. I had a small problem where my panini wasn't cooked thoroughly but after calling in, i was immediately helped by a manager.

Shopping here is fantastic! We get great quality food, and spend less than we would if we were going to Walmart. We highly recommend it. Of course, as a small grocer it's drank the cool-aid on the whole organic green GMO nonsense, but you still find what you need--and it forces you to be a little healthie, so we can't complain!

I’ve been shopping here for eight years and will always chose City Avenue Market (formerly Donald’s Market) over any other grocery store. It has everything I need, from toiletries to household cleaning and food. The prices are always better than other stores, sometimes $10 cheaper per item. For example, 32oz of Dr. Bronners Castile soap is $18 at this market, and the same item is $27 on Amazon.ca It doesn’t get better than this place ????

I love Donald's market. They have a great selection of natural products (non GMO, organic, gluten free, dairy free, whatever your flavour haha) and they do great markdowns of things that are expiring soon or just expired (because we all know best before dates are not exact); so I always take advantage. It's one of the way in which I try new things, when they r heavily discounted bi don't feel bad if I end up not liking it and having to throw it away. They have lots of specialty items; soaps, natural deodorant, laundry detergent that is eco-friendly, etc. Can't say enough good things about this store!

Great and friendly staff. My daughter wanted a cheese stick, which I, of course, did not pack. The employee at the deli was very accommodating and sliced off a $0.72 piece of cheese from a huge block to resemble what she usually eats. Happy child made a happy parent. Good job Donald's market!

An overwhelming amount of "organic" and "gluten-free" and other foods for the many special dietary restrictions of the 21st century make it almost impossible to find anything normal. The produce display was not fresh at all. Had to wait a long time for someone at the deli counter. And worst of all, when I got home, I realized the Pizza Pops I bought had expired over half a year ago!

Great store. My go-to in New West. Lots of alternative, cross-cultural and specialty products. Amazing selection in a smaller space. Artisan bread, artisan cheese, international staples and condiments, grass-fed dairy products...everything you can't get at safeway and much more reasonably priced (psst the safeway at plaza88 is waaaaay overpriced). One downside: the service. Would have been 5 stars from me, but for this. The service is fast and competent, but often remarkably unfriendly, unfortunately (even more so than the Commercial Dr location). Sometimes shockingly unfriendly...surly even. Some of the staff are great with questions but others can be really unreceptive and looked annoyed that you asked. There are a few service stars working at this location, but otherwise it's sort of a crap shoot: really depends on who you get. On a regular basis, this does detract from the experience

Poorest charcuterie ever within the lower mainland, and that's saying everything. Donald's gives the term chabuduo a unique flavor so to say. Save the 20 cents a pound, go to Safeway, Save-on, or even Walmart.

I shop here regularly. They got a lot of good vegan, organic, natural selections, and also some speciality foods that's hard to find. City Avenue Market is basically like a mini Whole Foods, but much cheaper even when not on sale. They also have a deli in the store. In terms of produce, besides from the usual imported produce you commonly see at other grocery stores, they carry a lot of local BC produce, which you don't find in other grocery stores. Support local! And their rewards program is pretty good, if you keep earning your points to the top rewards tier, it's pretty much 3% back (spend and earn $3000 worth of points and get $100 off).

This is wonderful niche market. I come here bi-weekly. It's Part ma and pap's grocery store and part specialty market. I love that they have local, organic and ethical products. However, there could be better signage for where the produce is from. It is a smaller store so they might not have everything you want. But what you do get is the best quality possible. One thing I would like to see is lactose free yogurt.

I shop here often due to convenience and selection, but they need to get on top of expired food. I have had multiple experiences where I have seen moldy produce on the shelf or accidently bought food that is past expiration. For such a small store, food turnover shouldn't be such an issue.

Only 1 till open * 10 plus in line down aisle to rear of store not Social distance as people still shopping in aisle. Opened 2nd til and rather than clear til #1 line (take those waiting for 5-10 minutes) let anyone walk up to 2nd till. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT.
