It's quite expensive and they put rose petals in the sugar which is gross. $4.50 for a coffee & it's not the best coffee I've had in this town. $5 for a latte, ridiculous! The wraps have no sauce which u have to order extra so they are dry. All in all I would never go to this place again.

The food tasted very fresh and was full of flavour! Lots of interesting dishes to choose from. All wraps can be made into a bowl for a few dollars extra. Staff was very friendly and the decor was artistic and felt authentic. My only wish was that the wrap was filled more, even with extra vegetables.

In a town that punches above its weight class in terms of dining options, Loka is our favorite Nelson restaurant. Every time we visit, a dinner at Loka is a given in our itinerary. Everything we've tried is excellent, and an order of both Mezze platters (enough food to feed a group of 4) gives you a sampling of some of the restaurant's greatest hits. The cocktail list and focus on gin is impressive (and delicious), and the mocktails are a hit with kids and non-drinkers. Service is always friendly, and and a standout if you happen to be there when the owner is waiting tables. I can't think of a place I'd rather be than on Loka's patio on a summer evening, and the restaurant turns into an intimate, cozy space in the colder months. In the winter especially, it's smart to call ahead for reservations if you've got more than two in your party.

Food is awesome! Every dish full of flavour. Had to ask what half the ingredients are on each dish. Drinks are original and delish! Often busy in a small space so make sure you have enough time to enjoy yourself. Atmosphere is relaxed and upbeat all at once. Highly recommended. The staff seem happy.

What a delightful little place! We just arrived in Nelson and were looking for somewhere to eat, and this little cafe for some reason drew us in. And we are very glad it did! The drinks are out of this world - both the cocktails and the mocktails! Delicate, perfectly balanced, done with a great deal of detail and care. The same for food. It tasted like food from a very high end restaurant, but at a fraction of price. Our waiter, Duncan, was wonderfully attentive and responsive, very friendly. We’d definitely come back!

Great lebanese style shawarma. Not shaved meat but chunks. Fresh salad and out of this world ceaser. Could use a wind break for the door opens and the cold air blasts the first few tables with freezing air. The lifhting is so low its hard to see

Grate food, awesome vibe, the staff are polite and professional and the cocktails are second to none. With their verity of gins they have something for everyone. I would suggest Loka to anyone who likes food and drink, with plenty of vegetation, vegan and gluten free options.

As I was walking down Baker Street yesterday I saw the specials board outside of Loka's eatery for 20% off specialty Gin and tonics. I was jonesing for a snack and so I stopped in for a snack and a drink. I sat down in the empty restaurant as it was after lunch time and the waitress approached and was patient, fastidious and kind. I ordered the Hummus with pita and the Orange, cilantro, coriander seed gin and tonic. Which came out to like $18.20. My order arrived quickly and the presentation was lovely. I was disappointed that the Hummus dish came with only one pita and a big mound of hummus...so I was left with a large scoop of hummus and nothing to eat it with. The drink was a good size, tasty, but awkward because of the garnishes inside and the large cubed ice. I got random dried coriander seeds with a couple of sips and had to spit them out onto my napkin. I asked about the sampler du jour on the menu and she said they didn't have one today. All in all I felt for the amount of food I got and the strange "gourmet"drink, that I paid too much for what I received in the end. I likely will not eat there again.

Well, that was disappointing... food was generally very good: we both shawarma bowls, one with chicken, the other with lamb. They were both really good, except that the chicken was a bit too drowned in cinnamon. Salad, tzatziki and humus were all really good. Then the bill came: we were both charged extra $ for 1/2 salad/rice (neither of us ordered this). Queried this and the bill was “corrected”. When I checked the menu quickly afterwards, saw that we were still overcharged by a $ or two after the price “correction”; gave up at that point. The amount of money was very small - literally just three or four dollars in total, so not something you want to even think about - but also I don’t want to me randomly overcharged (twice!). Anyway, hopefully this is just a one off, or maybe even a misunderstanding... but was disappointing anyway.

Friendly and helpful service. I ordered the lamb sausage gyro but the meat was very strong - I didn’t like it at all but my husband thankfully did. I took his falafel gyro and it was tasty but very drippy and messy. The restraint closed very early for a dining establishment.

Finally a western fusion of indian cuisine that uses real spice flavors and combinations. Leagues above the typical butter chicken huts you find around your city. I especially enjoyed the Baba Ganoush as it held a fresh and aromatic flavor. We will definitely be returning on our text time in town.

I love this place. It's a very tastefully decorated restaurant, the service is great and most of the food is delicious. Unfortunately, I can't give Loka five stars because the chicken shawarma was awful and was spiced with a ton of cinnamon, which is pretty much an abomination to shawarma. That said, the merguez is OUTSTANDING as are the soups. I should also point out that the pistachio ice cream was fantastic and so beautifully presented. Looking forward to trying more of the menu items here :)

We had a great experience at the newest spot on Baker. The space has been renovated beautifully and feels very cozy. Food was of excellent quality and came quickly over the lunch hour, and it's tough to beat a sit down meal for under $15. Definitely one of the best spots I've eaten at in Nelson. Didn't have their liquor license yet so the cocktails weren't available, but I can't wait to try them; tried one of their "mocktails" for $3 and it was wonderful (it was made with real dates). I will be back!

I wanted to love this, as I have heard so much about it from people around town. But I found the food all really dry and thus not very flavourful. I am open to trying again, but it definitely isn't in my rotation of go-to spots in Nelson.

Honestly, the food is just okay. Compared to similar restaurants in larger cities, the price is high, serving size is small and the taste is just average. I ordered a Zatar Manakeesh and Falafel plate. The manakeesh barely had any zatar on it, despite costing $13. The falafel balls were dry, but tasted good.

Loka is our new favorite spot in Nelson. The food is just incredible and the lovely touches like house-made hot sauces and pickled turnips really add to the experience. Service is great, cocktails are exceptional. We have been 4 times in the last few months and each experience was perfection. Can not recommend highly enough .
