There are few words that can accurately describe the fabulous foods made with such care at the Wild Poppy Market. The balance of flavors in their various lunch 'bowls' are a delight with every mouthful. Their gluten free offerings are matched by no others in the region. Yes there will be a lineup for lunch because the Wild Poppy Market is getting better known up and down the island but trust me when I tell you it will be worth the wait!

A little gourmet food shop with a gluten-free bakery, basically. For gluten-free folks, this place ROCKS! The donuts looked amazing, but sadly were not vegan. ???? The store has fancy items for the foodie in your life. Nice chocolate, finishing salts, sauces, spreads, etc. Plus organic gluten-free baking essentials, and kitchen staples like rice, etc. Because they're high quality products, the prices are a little higher too. But definitely reasonable for what you get! The day we visited there were not many vegan options, but I will try again soon.

What a spot! I absolutely LOVE it here. We came here for dinner last night and breakfast again this morning; not disappointed. It’s such a treat to be able to choose anything off the menu—everything is gluten free and delicious. Great environment and friendly staff. We will be back for coffee and treats in the morning. ???? Vegan takeaway meals include Market Salad with choice of 3 dressings, Cauliflower Shawarma Bowl, donuts and muffins. Also, tubs of excellent hummus and salsa. The Market Salad was colourful and very good, with poppy-seed vinaigrette. The Morning Glory Muffin was good, heated up later. Grocery items available too.

I buy lunch here almost every workday due to the fresh tasty food and great prices. I eat gluten-free and this is the best place in town for selection. Their cupcakes are really, really amazing. My coworkers got to try some for my birthday and they couldn't tell they were gluten-free ???? I recommend the beef lasagna, sandwiches and the lunch bowls. There's something for everyone.

It's great the place has reopened. The Turkey sandwich on the menu is without flavour. A few potato chips and a flavorful herb such as arugula can bring life to it's current bland state.

Wild Poppy Bistro is an absolute GEM and treasure in the gluten free world of baked goodies and deliciousness! It is a rare find! Not only is the food delicious but safely prepared in a 100 percent GF environment. I have travelled many places in Canada and in the world and have not found a bistro/bakery that comes close to this one! Even those who don’t need gluten free love the fresh and yummy menu items and bakery goods here. EVERYTHING tastes good here! And those fresh cinnamon buns, tarts and puddle cookies++....oh my!! So happy I now live close enough to be a “regular”!

I love The Wild Poppy Bistro. Needing to be gluten free I have had a very hard time finding places to eat that I know are totally safe for me. I live 2 1/2 hours away from Ladysmith, BC but any time I am going to be anywhere near I will phone in an order for a dozen Cinnamon rolls for pick up as they are THE BEST EVER!! Then I also get their bread and granola to take home as well. Any of the foods I have eaten in this fun lovely little Bistro have been awesome and the staff is always so pleasant and helpful!

I finally made a stop in to grab a coffee and a cookie. First before I go too far, that Hazlenut mud puddle cookie was amazing :) The staff was super friendly, restaurant extremely clean and inviting, nice menu selection and the healthy gluten, dairy free or vegan options are great. I will have to come back to try a full meal but from what I saw of others they look great.

When you finish a perfect breakfast then look across to another table and wish you could start over. Wild Poppy does everything right. Homemade hollandaise, great coffee, fresh in house baking, fresh roasted potatoes,lovely staff. Anyone that enjoys the flavour of real food would love it here. The fact that all their baked goods are gluten free is a game changer for a lot of diners. We started with a lemon cranberry muffin that was so perfect. I pass by places like Jam in Vancouver and Victoria with their ridiculous lineups. If I've ever had breakfast that deserves a cue of people down the block, it's Wild Poppy. Eat here. Just eat here.

The food is good, prices are good, baked goods are incredible but they are a victim of their own success. The premises are too small, they are often crowded and perhaps because their specialty is baking not food service or because it's too busy, service can be slow. If you can handle the busyness and aren't in a hurry the food is worth it

Excellent food and service. We couldn't believe the food was gluten free it was so good. The roll I was given with my soup was exactly like a regular white roll right down to the texture. Even my husband who is fine with gluten questioned whether it was safe. We also really appreciated the very reasonable prices and the fact that we weren't gauged for gluten free. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone passing through Ladysmith. The portions are large, food is delicious and prices are great.

We stopped in for gluten free, vegan chocolate donuts and morning glory muffins. The donuts were a deep, rich cocoa flavour, and the muffins had lavender spice undertones with tasty roasted nuts on top. Neither was dry (as vegan sometimes is) and both were hearty and delicious. We will definitely be back!

Wild Poppy offers an abundance of GLUTEN-FREE only foods. This restaurant and bakery deserves 5/5 for its selection of products from sweet deserts, savoury rolls and loaves of bread. My girlfriend and I travelled here from Victoria BC, strictly to visit Wild Poppy and it was well worth the trip.

Cozy and friendly. For the celiac in our party it was 100% gluten free. For the vegan it was accomodating. For our vegatarian a delight. For our omnivore the soup and salad was a home run. We all loved the baked goods. We had one of everthing. Butter tart, 2 cheesecakes and cookies. The bathroom was clean. Great natural light right on main street easy parking.

I was in the bistro on Saturday and it was busy and the staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to my dietary needs. I had the best sandwich and soup there I have had in years. They have a ray of assorted goodies to chose from even with my dietary needs. I brought in kids - picky eaters and they all loved their food and so I recommend going here anytime you can. I wish they had a website to order take out deliveries to be shipped to my home. Next time I am in Ladysmith I will be coming for breakfast/lunch!! thank you again!

RUDE SERVICE. Not enough product. Never any GF sandwich Bread! I ask my family to only buy me gifts from your bakery NO MORE. Last three times no GF white bread. When my father Inlaw said you should make more so you dont run out, staff said he should come earlier. I came 10:30 am not early enough? So Rude...... You can be rude or you can have the bread but not both. I Promise I am only buying Promise brand bread now. Just as good not as Rude.

I’ve been gluten free for around six years now, and one thing I’ve always missed is bakeries. Usually non dedicated spaces have one cookie, maybe some bread, and that’s it. If they DO have anything, it’s also always half the size and twice the price. But whatever, that’s life. Wild Poppy Market BLEW ME AWAY! A variety of gluten free foods that don’t cost an arm and a leg AND are actually a decent portion size? Amazing!!! My husband (who can have gluten) and I had two kinds of cheesecake, the raspberry cheesecake bar, white chocolate macadamia nut cookie, the chocolate cookie I forget the name of, a butter tart, cinnamon bun, and more I’m probably forgetting. Everything was delicious!! As for hot foods, I tried the breakfast wrap and it was also delicious. I literally can’t recommend this place enough!! TL;DR: If you can’t have gluten - go here. If you can have gluten - go here.

We stopped in on the suggestion of TripAdvisor while driving north along the Island Highway. The mushroom soup was flavourful and with a healthy serving of mushrooms. Salad had more than just the usual garden variety of vegetables. The warm grilled pastrami sandwich was also very tasty. A wonderful lunch stop. After a short walk through the town, we were in our way.

Everytime we are in Ladysmith we make a point of stopping in to Wild Poppy Bistro. The meals are delicious and well presented. The flavours are mouth watering and satisfying. Love the beet salad (wish it would come in a 1/2 size so I could pair it up with the curry chicken) and curry chicken creations. Wild Poppy Bistro is a gem in Ladysmith and I would encourage everyone to drop in and sample the menu. The staff are warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is charming. Love, love, love... Can't wait to try out some of the recipes posted.

I have rarely had worse service than I had at this establishment. From the get-go it was obvious that these women did not want to see a toddler in their establishment. From then on, they were rude, abrupt and cold. They should hang a sign on the door that says, "No children allowed".

Everything I've had at the Wild Poppy has been great. It's the only place I've been able to have Quiche in years and it's wonderful. It's also the only place I buy bread now because it tastes like regular bread and I don't have to keep it frozen. I have had dreams about the coconut cream tarts and I'm glad I live far enough away I can't make it there every week. The cupcakes are wonderful too.
