Not many grocery stores have a supervised children's play area (and near the washrooms, too), it's accessed off the dairy section. I particularly love QF because of their personal daily special, I can scan items up front (here, by the deli counter) and choose one as my special, then lock that in with my loyalty card and buy up to 4 of it. This especially helps with cleaning products. And I can use loyalty points to buy a turkey (a popular choice), or cookware and other items from the catalog. Nice deli with lots of conveniently packaged salads, meats, Japanese-style sushi rolls, etc. although no seating area in this store. Large produce section with good selection. Pleasantly helpful staff. Always a good till experience. This is a smallish big grocery store for our times, but it has good variety, is conveniently located and has adequate parking. The mall includes a liquor store and a retail post office, as well as several restaurants and a pub. I prefer this QF to the nearby Save-On and Country Grocer.

A good grocery store, although it doesn't have as much as other QF's, it doesn't have Chinese food or sushi, but it has sandwiches, other deli stuff. The staff are friendly and the shelves are always stocked and organized.

Had quit a bit of empty spaces on the shelves, staff seemed like none of them wanted to be there. The young man who helped us at the till audibly signed when he had seen how much we had in our cart. Then at the till beside us. A women was getting a package of water and she said the sign said it was 2 dollars. And the young man at her till said it was 8. After a bit of this back in forth... he said "well I have a line up... but I mean I can go check for you if you want." Which should of been the first responce to her. After we were leaving with our groceries a female staff member walked out behind the tills directly into where we were walking and made me have to move myself out of the way. She also let out an audible *tsk* sound at me. Like it was my fault she walked in front of me. *there was also a slight eye brow raise in the gesture of "really?" Only reason why rating isn't 1 star is because some thier deals (if you have a save on card) were actually very decent! I believed from our normal shopping with roughly the same food we saved about 30~40 dollars. (Mind you these deals on these particular foods don't always happen. I just happened to look at a flyer and wanted to go there.) But without the card and normal pricing. It's slightly above average.

Only go if i have to. Prices are a buck or 2 more on each respective item than other chain grocers. The store is old and outdated, nothing special. Staff are low energy, nothing special there either. I can usually save quite a bit driving 5 min further.

Im not a fan of 1 star ratings but this store is a dump, old and neglected. Produce staff were awesome but ran into a very grumpy short hair lady that should not work around customers to say the least. Owners need to upgrade this place....better lighting and new floors would at least brighten this dungeon of a grocery store up..

Review is for Chinese food. Wife phoned a 10 minutes ahead of time to pick up some Chinese food and it looks like its been sitting for ages, the breading on the pork is complete mush and we got plain pork instead of lemon chicken. Really gross.

Friendly, Helpful staff! This QF location offers most of the amenities that are available at the other stores. They have the same Appy Hour Specials, the My Deals ( available on the QF App), Pick Your own Daily deal, $1.49 day, $5 Fridays..etc. This location has handicapped parking and is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other devices, with a level parking lot and entrance/exit and wide aisles. They feature a deli counter and I have read that this location is going to be remodeled soon and will then include the popular Chinese Food, Pizzas, Smokehouse items,etc. that are currently available at the other QF locations. I recommend that you use the QF App, it makes more Specials available to you and all of your purchases will earn you points which can be used to purchase items, or reduce the cost of them, or you can save your points to exchange them for a variety of items that are available in the QF Points catalogue.

It's like any other Quality Foods store...but the parking lot sucks and exiting onto Bowen or Northfield can be an adventure. I saw a sign that says they are getting a Chinese kitchen soon, so that will be an added bonus

While trying to get lunch(on a work lunch break) : more than a few times there has been nobody ‘able’ to help me at the deli. There is a sign up stating employee will be back in an hour. I asked if the employee’s in the Chinese food area can help, they said ‘nope they will be back in an hour’. Also huge lines and one cash open at lunch hour (between 11-1pm). I have had to walk out more than once because there is no one to help or not willing. Very fed up and at a loss as it is the closest grocery store to my work. I also ask for behind the counter deli items because the ones that are sitting in the accessible cooler out front are gross to say the least.

Always make sure you double check the expiry dates on the food, because the staff sure does not. I've brought it up to them at least 3 times and was always shrugged off, don't waste your money on their overpriced rotten food. Go somewhere else. Wanted to buy some breakfast sausage and it had no expiry date on it, so I asked the butcher, he said it doesn't need one? Its meat genius, of course it does.

The Deli salad counter was awful, at the Bowen Rd QF. No lids on anything and therefore everything was dried out. I mentioned to the girl working there, but she didnt seem to think there was anything wrong with that. I checked as I left and still no lids. :( honestly I think I might get sick if I eat this salad. Bowen Rd QF. has seen a significant decline in its deli over the the last 4 or 5 years. The deli employees gab instead of serving, they close the fryers before the dinner hour and the Deli Salad counter has a minimum of choices. I shop at both the Turner Rd and Bruce Ave QFs and they both excel in the mentioned areas.

Products over priced (by a lot!) compared to Save On + some other stores. Purchased Breyers Maple Walnut Creamery Ice cream (no antibiotics etc.) + it was old + had gone bad. Manager was condescending + made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. Never shopping there again! Staff very young + do not know anything about what's in the store, nor cares!

It's a grocery store! Unfortunately it is the smallest of them in Nanaimo. They don't carry everything other QF's in Nanaimo carry. It is the closest of the qf's to my home but I rarely shop there as they do have less!
