This a high end kitchen store in quality and style, but it's not all high priced. You can find lots of good quality items and speciality items at fair prices, and car branch higher into All clad, Staub and Smeg, and get amazing stuff. Just a nice uncluttered layout, plenty of selection. It's worth shopping local and supporting this friendly husband and wife company, that Nanaimo dearly needs.

Everyone wanted a particular piece of Staub bakeware, but NO-ONE had it. Well, almost no-one: Maison is the only place in the northern hemisphere where I could find what I was looking for, but I'm 2144 miles (3450 km) away. Julia made it work, though! You know all those ships off the west coast of California? She got past those! I'm so grateful to Julia and Maison Cookware & Bakeware for the service they provided that no-one else would.

Amazing store for your cooking needs. The owner is very friendly, very knowledgeable and takes time to explain anything you need to know. Affordable items right up to high end Japanese knives and top of the line espresso makers. Definitely worth a look!

The staff here are friendly and didn’t upsell my knife purchase. I needed a simple chef’s knife for a simple kitchen hack (me). I also told them about the knife that fell behind my gas stove, never to be used again (I can still see the handle peaking out). I was going to tell them how when we were children my dad would cut our hair with kitchen scissors, but the store got busy. My parents had 4 boys- understandable. Shop local if possible:). These stores deserve our business.

I had been thinking of upgrading some of my gear for making sourdough bread and recently placed an order with Maison Cookware. I was really happy with the service. Everything shipped very quickly, was packaged safely, and had a lovely note from the owner thanking me. Definitely not necessary, but a lovely addition. This is a dangerous place for anyone with a kitchen gear addiction. You could wander for a hour and not see it all. Very current collection of the newest and best reviewed cookware and cookbooks. Very helpful staff.

I've only shopped here a couple of times but both experiences have been excellent. I find the staff very helpful. My most recent visit I was in search of a KitchenAid stand mixer and although, as I found out, they don't sell them there, the staff member was able to direct me to a site for the specific model I was looking for. Great store to browse.

I recently had an issue with a very expensive chefs knife and took it back to see what they could do to fix this unfortunate situation. Needless to say, I was shown an amazing level of customer service. This store embodies the brick and motor or mom and pop customer service that you do not receive at the big box stores. I will continue to be a loyal customer.

Several months ago, I bought a set of Cole & Mason salt and pepper grinders from Maison Cookware & Bakeware. I recently noticed the salt grinder had a long crack, so I went to the store to have it replaced. I assumed they would replace it and that it was a reasonable request. Unfortunately the employee asked me if I had dropped it then told me they aren't able to replace the item. When I suggested they contact their sales representative for me she told me I could do it myself. She also said acrylic has a tendency to crack. The clerk was not rude just not helpful and put everything back on me. I've got several sets of Cole & Mason grinders and have never had an issue. It's to bad, I really loved this store but won't spend the time travelling from the Oceanside to shop there area anymore.
