All the five star reviews here are well deserved! We recently moved to Nanaimo and have been looking for a source of good, organic bread and other goodies. So glad we found out about Hearthstone while checking out the South end of Nanaimo. ???? The bakery has an attractive, clean and tidy appearance, with an open floor concept that I always appreciate. The wonderful aromas that greet customers is just the beginning. Their baked goods are far superior to any others we've tried in Nanaimo. Absolutely delish! Very reasonable prices and a frequent buyers offer for bread, another bonus. The only negative, I could easily eat a whole loaf of their bread at one time!! Hard to stop at just a couple of slices. ???? One more big plus, their friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely be our bakery of choice in Nanaimo from now on.???? Helpful votes most appreciated!

I stopped in purely as a tourist looking for a Nanaimo bar while in Nanaimo. You just have to, right? Sadly, with it being the long weekend all the classics were gone. However, they had peanut butter crunch (omg) and the seasonal lemon and lavender. Uh.. can we talk about how good the peanut butter crunch is? Rich and creamy with a killer peanut butter flavour. Similar but different to the classing peanut butter and chocolate combo as you get the coconut in there too. The crunch in the ganache giving it that extra bit of texture that was a great addition to the experience of nomming this thing. The lemon and lavender was rich but rather light, almost cheesecake-y. It wasn’t overpowering with the citrus or lavender. I was happy I took the chance on trying a different take on the classic. Well worth stopping in.

Hearthstone Artisan Bakery is one of Nanaimo's hidden treasures that deserves to be placed front and center for all to enjoy. Located in Nanaimo South, not far from the Highway 19 and 19a split, across the highway from Rona. Hearthstone also frequents many of the Nanaimo region's wonderful farmer's markets throughout the year. The bakery serves up delectable artisan breads and stunning pastry delights. The bread is fresh, hearty loaves of regular favourites like my favourite sourdough anywhere, as well as unique daily specials. The sausage rolls and savory daily flatbread alone is well worth the drive out. The many diverse and delectable pastry offerings are a delight to behold and a joy to try. From smooth rich cheesecakes, creamy macaroons, velvety fine cakes with scrumptious butter cream frosting, perfect little cream puffs and eclairs, fruity danish and the single finest assortment of Nanaimo Bars I've ever come across. And this is coming from someone who is not a huge fan of our city's signature dessert. I'll always make an exception for this talented and artistic baker. Five big stars. I wish I could give six!

I put five stars because I don’t want to ruin your rating with my comment. I wanted to stop by your bakery on my few hours stop over in Nanaimo. But you are close on Sunday. For me, that make no sens. A bakery close on Sunday is like a bar close on Friday night. The day I crave for pastry is on Sunday morning when I’m off work and want to enjoy a nice breakfast in family. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait and try to stop in a future trip to your town.

Service is not good. I tried to order a cake for my daughters birthday 2 weeks ahead and they basically told me they cannot do it for almost 3 weeks. Most bakeries try to accommodate their clients. This is the third time they have turned us down.I have heard this from other people as well. Maybe they dont like doing cakes? We won't be back here..Theres a lot of other good bakeries around!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Nanaimo for the first time, it was Christmas eve and the store was about to close at 4 we got there at exactly 3:53 Just to buy some Nanaimo bars in Nanaimo and they were delicious, we got the variety pack and our favs was the eggnog and peanut butter! The price was good and the woman was very friendly and helpful she even told us how they were rated second for best Nanaimo bars, though I could see why she said some beg to differ haha

This amazing local bakery has everything you would expect in a good quality bakery. Bread, sweets, cakes, sausage rolls, and much much more! Don't wait until the end of the day though, as the best items will sell out earlier in the day. 10/10 would recommend!

I almost dont want to tell everyone how amazing this bakery is and keep it all to myself... but I wont! Truely amazing baked goods, top notch staff and tantalizing selection. As with any bakery you need to get there earlier than later to get the best selection. Anything you get will be of the best you have ever had. Prices are very reasonable too. You get what you pay for!

I was very disappointed with the custom cake I ordered. It was significantly more expensive than the prices listed on the website and the finished product paled in comparison to the photos on the website. When I expressed my disappointment, I was met with the comment "our website needs updating". Sorry, you've lost a customer.

By chance, my wife and I noticed Hearthstone Bakery in Southgate shopping center and we are so happy that we checked them out. I won't go into the details into what we purchased but everything was delicious. My mouth is watering thinking about ordering a flat bread again. Can't wait for our next visit.
