Ok place. Nice to have some variety close by that no other stores offer. I only have one complaint so far and that is the dirty carrying baskets for your groceries. I don't know how often or how they clean them if at all. But after looking at the bottom of the basket I picked up yesterday evening I was disgusted to say the least. I don't want any of my food touching that filth whether there is a barrier between it or not. Nothing short of a double bag around all my items would allow me the comfort to shop with the unknown bacteria and or viruses that are likley in those baskets. It is visibly dirty. Please get a powerwasher and or use a disinfectant or something. I'm not a germaphobe. But this makes me cringe.

Fairway has some great Asian groceries. The Asian produce is pretty fresh, though the green papayas are often overripe. I'm not complaining though as it's better than nothing. Beats having to go to Victoria or Vancouver just for some dried shrimp, or Korean pepper flakes. Thanks Fairway for doing alright. Would be good if you upped your fresh chili ????️ game though. Maybe even get some habaneros?

Fairway market is a solid grocery store offering an impressive range of variety for its size for almost everyone. A huge plus for this place is the take and eat food. They have a kitchen that offers good breakfast at a great price and acceptable Chinese food beyond that. You can take it into your own hands with the salad bar that has multiple affordable options. They also have a good variety of soups, drinks, and bubble teas you can get. I sometimes swing by for a quick and satisfying lunch or snag one of the great deals they have. They mix it up frequently for the unique specials so I always check to make sure I'm not missing out on a deal. Some downside is that it does get higher volumes via the mall and sometimes their provided seating for customers can be a bit dirty. The food can also be hit or miss depending on the day I find so I stick with the salad bar for some consistency but sometimes some products are not available or have run out at the bar. A but more maintenance and quality control would make this place fantastic.

The boyfriend and I love the Chinese dinner special... You get a big bowl of noodles or rice with 3 items for 13.99. One bowl feeds us both and we are stuffed when done. It is delicious and lots of different items to chose from.

Can't say I'd recommend going to the deli/ Chinese kitchen. When I go there, the food is always great. I can't say I'd complain, although the atmosphere feels very toxic. The tall, white, big guy who wears the bandana, is constantly swearing, glaring and ignoring health/food safety standards. I have felt very uncomfortable being served by that man, I'm unsure of his name but I wouldn't want him to serve me again. Other than the worker, the prices are great and the selection is always generous to the consumer.

I can’t believe they stop cooking Chinese food at 5:00. Lots of people don’t get off work till after five. Just once I’d like to come there and be able to get Singapore fried vermicelli. Can be a bit pricey but it's got a good selection, a tendency towards the harder-to-find ethnic groceries, and some really delicious in-house food. I can honestly say that their Chinese food is the only Chinese I regularly seek out. I don't actually like Chinese so that's saying a lot. Their mac'n'cheese is also super good (I pair it with their barbecue pork for an unusual but indulgent treat!). This place is also the only one which I've found to have my favourite sour soothers candy. I swear most grocery chains have gone to a knock-off brand now or something...

This is been one of my secret Nanaimo gems because I can get ethnic foods I can't find anywhere else. There's always a great selection of regular and organic produce plus an entire Asian greens section in addition to the regular grocery items. I'm vegetarian but find that there is an amazing selection of meats and a deli that has a restaurant attached. My friends and family really enjoy that.

Visited the bakery in this location several times. First time, the man serving food while kept talking to his coworker, as if the conversation was so crucial that he had to use every second to talk. Gross even if he was wearing a cloth mask, he was still talking on the food. Another time, came about 5pm and no one serving the bakery section. A girl doing other chores came by and kindly helped me. Need to enforce foodsafe standards and enough staff in the bakery department. Update - always loved visiting this store, for the Asian food and bakeries and especially the friendly and cheerful cashier girl who always wears bright unique earrings. Sadly I will stop visiting at least for now; the social distancing was not well maintained at all the last time I visited, other shoppers would came right beside me or pass behind me while I was still picking up groceries. The aisles are narrow but people could've kept the distance and wait for their turn, but many didn't. A person even tried to enter the store without mask, spotted by staff and intervened. Not feeling safe to come shopping when there are 1000 new cases PER DAY in BC with so many careless shoppers.

I bought refrigerated daifuku mochi, but there was no expiry date put on the packages I noticed when I got home. I phone them and the very kind cashier puts me through to John, or someone, who is responsible for sticking that isle. He goes and finds out, and tells me that they were taken out of the freezer yesterday and stocked, so they should be good for 3 or 4 days. But the negligence of not labeling an expiry date on a perishable item, like milk, worries me. When cooked rice goes off, it can make you sick. I told him that he needs to label things like this, and he yelled at me that he's going to do it. But seriously....this is pretty bad...who knows how old it really is.

I like shopping at Fairway Market its conveniently close. The bakery and the hot Chinese food to go or sit in is reasonably priced. Good selection of Asian dried, canned and packaged goods. Also a nice variety of Asian fresh vegetables along with the non-Asian fresh vegetables. Shelves for dried and canned good seemed a little sparse, otherwise, normally very friendly staff! Ps: Smokes are discounted if you buy 2 packs of the same brand. A little pricier than Superstore, but a very interesting meat selection! ???????????? Worth visiting!!

This is a very nice grocery and produce store sells variety of day to day home and food requirements. They also have freshly cooked food corner, it is best deal for the portion v/s price. They have good sea food and chicken collection mostly we don't find this kind of variety in other big stores. Ideally located in the North town center mall on Highland Highway access through Rutherford road. Plenty of Free parking. Excellent location to do other errands after or before doing grocery shopping.

Oh my. My partner and I loved going to QF for Chinese food. We usually go a few times a month, if not more. My partner was talking with someone at work and QF chinese food came up. The guy he was talking to suggested trying the chinese food at Fairway Market, so we did. The food was so good at Fairway Market!! Way more selection of dishes, better tasting, higher quality food and its $2 cheaper! The portions are a little smaller but I never finished anyways. The chicken balls are amazing. Perfect chicken to breading ratio. I also tried the white fish and tofu, it was delicious. Won't be going back to QF for chinese dinner after trying Fairway.

I will never be back at this store and will actively discourage others from supporting them after my dehumanizing experience today. I went to the deli to get some sushi for lunch. I am not able to wear a mask for medical reasons and have a doctors note with me. When I went to pay the cashier asked me to put on a mask. I told her I was not able to and had a medical exemption. She flat out refused me service and her body language was very hostile and rude. I asked to speak to the manager and he was no better. When he saw I was not wearing a mask he got pretty excited and was telling me I must leave - it's like he thought my very presence would kill someone. I told him i was not able to wear one, and had a medical exemption and a doctors not but that did not matter. I am not anti-mask or anti-vax and am aware not wearing a mask can make people feel uncomfortable. I always try and keep proper distances and follow all te guidline. HOW ABOUT TREATING SOMEONE WITH SOME DIGNITY AND RESPECT! I plan to file a human rights complaint and hope they get a hefty fine!

Isn't a really big mall but I think it has the best variety of shops. Not filled with the typical brand name stores but has more local variety stores. Antique shops, art shops, a beauty place, liquor store and more. Worth checking out.

Got some Chinese food take-out today for dinner, everything tasted delicious. Definitely getting restaurant quality food for very reasonable price. Dinner rush was quite busy but glad we made it in time to grab some. Will come a bit early next time to try other items

Rave to the kitchen staffs. Got there 10 mins to 6pm yesterday, the line up for the asian kitchen food was insanely long. Seeing there were a long line up of customers waiting to get food the kitchen staff turn the equipments back on to cook more food for everyone waiting in line. Great customer service and the food was so delicious.
