Amazing Nanaimo bars!! And a wonderful staff and atmosphere
I enjoyed a Nanaimo bar and coffee. It was the ultimate combination ever. The Nanaimo bar was really rich and tasty! And stuff were friendly. Next time, I'd like to try Nanaimo bar latte which stuff's favorite :)
If you are in Nanaimo this is the place you need to go if you're looking to buy a Nanaimo bar . It crazy selection of different types of Nanaimo bars from strawberry to bacon very cool concept it nice twist on an original . Very good coffee , you can even get a Nanaimo bar coffee do not buy if your a diabetic lol The Staff is very courteous and kind . The other food is very tasty only draw back is it too small Cafe with a lot of people wanting to come in lol
Came for the award winning Nanaimo Bars, and didn't leave disappointed. Had a few of available options, that are displayed in the small chalkboard by the register. The raspberry and the salted caramel I loved, the matcha option was soso. That said, it's not cheap, I felt like you are paying a premium for those hanging awards.
If you visit Nanaimo you should have a Nanaimo bar. Bocca came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. The staff was very friendly and gave good suggestions. They offered a tax break if we ordered six. Before you catch a ferry to Vancouver...pick up some treats.
I had to wait for the shop next door to open, so I thought I'd treat myself to a latte and review my shopping list. Bocca also had some pretty yummy muffins and the Fieldcrest was right up my palette with its carrots, coconut, raisins, almonds and pineapple. It was not too busy, so I could sit in the back and enjoy the fascinating art work while the couple by the window played music trivia over coffee.
Vegan Nanaimo bars!! They could have a more extensive vegan menu, but I can't complain. Friendly staff, lovely location, and they've got non-dairy milks for your matcha latte!
(Translated) Had a nice bagel but found the choice very difficult because we are not so into macrobiotic organic food. (Original) Lekkere bagel gegeten maar vonden de keus erg moeilijk omdat we niet zo van het macrobiotische biologische eten zijn.
Great coffee
Quaint spot with art, plants, twinkle lights and a great playlist. Veggie options. I have to applaud the exceptionally friendly guy at the til, and quick service, will be back!
Lovely atmosphere, delicious coffee, incredible treats!! Definitely going back to try every single Nanaimo Bar they have there as they all sounded tasty!! I had an original Nanaimo Bar and a Nanaimo Bar Latte and I loved both immensely!! Highly recommended and will definitely be returning!!
Pricey but good quality. We went because it was rated highly for their Nanaimo bars - and rightfully so! Service was friendly.
The best coffee for next to nothing! The green eggs and ham breakfast is a must have!
Delicious latte. The cashier girl was very polite and welcoming. Took her advice and got the latte and it was really good. The lavender Nanaimo bar was also delicious!
It's a down to earth coffee shop with great coffee and good eats! Healthy choices are plentiful!
Bocca Café is nice. We went in on a Saturday and it was super busy. But we were greated quickly, our goods were packaged quick and it was all around nice. They have a ton of gluten free options. Which is super nice to have options when you are gluten free. Overall this is a nice little stop in the Old City Quater. I wish they had more seating, then it would be a perfect 5 stars
What a gem. Was on my way to Timmies before I smelled the coffee from this place. It's competitive in pricing and quality, as well as a small business. The only problem is you might have a hard time finding somewhere to sit it's so busy.
Definitely not what it used to be…the level of quality, attentiveness and atmosphere between staff have gone down many many levels from years ago. On August 3rd, at around 11am, we witnessed the guy who was making sandwiches berate the cashier/server in front of customers, this is utterly unprofessional. As for the food and drink, sub par. The salad and the soup, mediocre standard. The iced latte…watered down skim milk with…not sure if we would call that an espresso. The only saving grace was the scone, as it tasted and looked like what it used to be many years ago and the cashier. Appears to be new owner/management, but it definitely has lost its charm that people once knew as Bocca Cafe.
I got a Salted Caramel Nanaimo Bar for takeout. Unfortunately, the server picked up the bar with their bare hands after taking cash from me and dropped it directly into a brown paper bag for take out without any kind of other container. I thought this was a pretty strange COVID protocol. After contemplating the smushed bar for a while I decided not to eat it — unfortunate, because it looked pretty good in the pastry counter. I don’t like writing negative reviews, but people who are hygiene conscious should probably know this about the cafe before going in.
Tips software for coffee on bank matchines
Yummy healthy type and not so healthy snacks. All home made.
Wholesome food, great coffee, fabulous art and good location!
Fabulous atmosphere - wonderful staff
Very pleasant and the Nanimo bars and lattes were delicious!
Fun place to have a snack, desert. Lots of selections. Friendly service. Really like the decorations and paintings. Very cozy, cute. Touch of Bohemian. Street side parking. Was not busy when I was there which is nice.
Amazing breakfast bagels!!
Friendly staff and delicious traditional Nanaimo bars.
Baked goods swimming in oil. Asian lady is rude. Large Americano is about 12 oz of coffee in a 16 oz cup. This is the only coffee shop within 10 minutes of walking and i really want to like it but every time we go, we're disappointed.
This place is famous for their nanaimo bars which are definitely a must try. Good variety of flavors to choose from. One is more than you can finish, since they're quite sweet and basically all chocolate and fudge. Coffee is quite good too. Prices are very fair.
Most food is made daily, delicious food, portion sizes are huge. Cute little coffee spot in Old City Quarter
Nanaimo bar and a double espresso, approx $7. Variety of Nanaimo bars to try, went for the salted caramel which was great. Bunch of bugs flying in the middle of the place which made us choose to enjoy the treat outside.
Great food, great coffee. Has a really nice covered breezeway with seating to enjoy.
Excellent cappuccino! Fantastic baked goods!
Great coffee, atmosphere, people and of course the Nanaimo bars!
Friendly and fast service. Probably the best Nanaimo bar I've ever had!
5 years ago I came though to Nanaimo BC and I wanted a Nanaimo Bar. I had no such fortune. 5 years later after searching for the best "Nanaimo Bar in Nanaimo" I found this place. I'm pleased to say it lived up to the hype! Their chicken sandwich was also amazing. Friendly staff. Good service.
Love this place. - staff are friendly and helpful. - food: I only tried sandwiches I guess and they always taste super good. Drinks: I tried few; green is good if you like celery juice. I don’t so I didn’t like it, but still was able to finish it with the sandwich. Other drinks are really good. There’s one with coconut, super good in summer, very refreshing. They have some healthy options that are tasty. - ambience; clean. This is a new photo of post-covid. Great measures. Only one customer at the order area. And tables are distanced. A great cafe for two people at a table, maybe not a group.
Delicious coffee.
A wonderfully eclectic little cafe with the sweetest young ladies serving up freshly brewed delicious beverages, yummy eats and sweet treats. I love stopping by for a large Cafe Mocha to enjoy my beverage, people watch and to enjoy the owner's awesome art, which you can purchase as well. One of the must see, must go to places in Nanaimo's Old City Quarter. Five big well deserved stars!
An excellent variety of Nanaimo Bars to choose from. A funky little place with indoor and outdoor seating. Try a Nanaimo Latte if you want something sweet to drink. Blackberry Lavender Nanaimo Bar pictured
Great little cafe in the Old Quarter shopping district of Nanaimo. I learned of this place because of their amazing award winning Nanaimo Bar. Since then I like the in house made baking and healthy meal options. Today was a huge apple muffin with big chunks of fresh apple as well as a homemade jalapeño cheese bagel. Both tasted great and enjoyed them. I notice a lot of vegan options so if you’re looking for that this would be a good place to consider.
Cozy cafe to go for lunch or a snack if you're visiting the quaint Old City Quarter!
If the salted caramel Nanaimo bar is available definitely get it!
Cool little (actually pretty small) cafe. Quite the variety of Nanaimo bars and other treats.
The BEST Nanaimo bars I’ve ever had - and what a bonus that they’re gluten free!! Their vegan gluten free muffins are incredible and a meal in themselves - love oversized muffins. Delicious coffee and friendly staff
Cute cozy cafe!
One of my favourite stomping grounds for grabbing a coffee/americano and a muffin.
Great alternative feeling cafe in a pretty good location. The drinks are delicious and the desserts are very tempting.
(Translated) The nanaimo bar we have tasted here and was delicious! Matcha latte was well made. Nice place where everything just isn't right. (Original) De nanaimo bar hebben we hier geproefd en was heerlijk! Matcha latte was goed gemaakt. Leuke zaak waarin alles net niet klopt.
Great place to try the famous Nanaimo bars. Gluten free options and good coffee too. I am picky about espresso and this place had the best in town so far.
If you have time, you can try the pour over coffee here, it's really great! As far as I know, this is the only place on the island that offers pour over coffee service.
Omg the classic nanaimo bar 10/10
They were very friendly and their nanaimo bar latte was a treat.
Really good gluten free Nanaimo bars. In Nanaimo!
Good place. It has a very tourist like and cosy location. Good place to brunch..
A quirky little coffee spot with the best muffins ever. GF and vegan menu choices are always available! Everything made on site...
Bocca has been my go to, nostalgia comfort food for over ten years. Their gluten free muffins are off the charts and are consistently delicious. They hit the spot! And the big bocca ???? cookie- to die for!
Amazing Nanaimo bars and Matcha!
There's a reason they have medals by their Nanaimo bars. So good!
Good coffee, good cake, and a nice place to sit.
I love the wheat free muffins and the Bocca cookie. Great Cafe with excellent food!
Cute little cafe in the heart of Nanaimo. We came here from because of the endorsement from the Food Network. There were some things we liked and others we didn't. If you're in Nanaimo you should probably get yourself a Nanaimo Bar. That said I thought their drinks were better than the food which to me was too bad. Nothing bad to say about this place, it just didn't particularly stand out the way I hoped it would.
Great cafe! Has gluten free and vegan baking options! The layout of the store is rather crowded ie. The table for cream and sugars is pretty much in the walkway. But other than than great service and good coffee
Lots of GF options and some Vegan options. Food was good. Service was alright. Tried to go back another day but it was too busy. It's a small place so take out might be better if you are in a rush.
Dont feel that it lives up to the hype.
Well made food and coffee. Usually a bit of a wait during peak hours and I've had a couple of dud (leaky) to-go cups. If you've got a few extra minutes it's a good cafe though. The baking is tasty and the baristas are friendly.
Excellent Nanaimo bars and coffee!!
Just had the green eggs and ham. Absolutely delicious. If I lived in town I'd eat here every day.
Great Nanaimo bars in a friendly environment. Not a ton of selection to choose from, but the atmosphere was great and so were the prices. Definitely a place I'd recommend if you're just looking for infamous Nanaimo bars!
Great location in old city quarters, good selection of sweets and treats. Had a cappuccino and it was quit weak. If you like strong coffee might not be the best option
Home of the famous Nanaimo bar. Good desserts.
Came on a Monday for their Nanaimo bar and ended up waiting 30mins to order with only 4 people ahead of me. I saw about 4 people working but only one person was actually working, he was making the coffee, taking orders and running around while others stood around. The other employees saw that there was a line out the door and did nothing, they just restocked cups and took the coffee out to customers. I recommend working on the overall efficiency of the cafe to better serve customers.
Very good coffee, friendly staff, always best & tidy
I recommend if you like chocolate their white chocolate cranberry loaf my favorite ????
The coffee and food were good, and the outdoor seating was really nice.
Great coffee and amazing snacks. A great place to sit and chill as you smell the treats coming out of the oven. The mincemeat tart with brandy was perfectly boozie.
Great little place. Good music and French press.
Luv the giant cookies. Great vegan selections.
Just came for the Nanaimo bar and wasn't disappointed. Excellent!
Lots of good organic glutan free food, home made jams, outdoor patio....
Friendly service and tasty food!
Excellent coffee and lots of gluten free treats!
Good everything! - & all homemade! Small & often crowded. Has a few tables outside.
I love this place but the artwork is really hideous. Yikes. No excuse for it. Yuck. Sorry but really
Cozy little coffee shop
Enjoy an early morning coffee here at least once a week. Too busy later in the day for me. Very little room inside for handicapped but tables available outside.
Wonderful space with covered outdoor area, great food and coffee. 2021. Cafe has changed hands. I don't go anymore as the food went downhill.
We went here for the Nanaimo bars which were amazing!
Had a mocha and a ham and Swiss pesto sandwich on sourdough and partner had same sandwich and a hot chocolate and it was all fantastic fresh and delicious should make a warning about seeds in bread was caught off guard by that but added to sandwich as a whole will be back soon
Felt impossible to pass through Nanaimo without trying out one of the famous Nanaimo bar. The one from Bocca Cafe was good, with a crumbly base and crisp chocolate topping. The bar did get monotonous after a few bites, and the heaviness of it made it less desirable with each passing bite. Overall though, if you're looking for a solid bar, Bocca definitely won't dissapoint.
Excellent. Took in noon-hour jazz concert.
Great coffee, many gluten-free and low or no sugar options.
Coffee was full of flavour. We had four of their Nanaimo bars on two separate visits - all were amazing. Thanks for the delish spot!
Raspberry Nanaimo Bar from Bocca Cafe in Nanaimo! This was my first time in Nanaimo, so we had to get this Canadian treat. I loved the variety of flavours here, as I've made the traditional version many times before. As Nanaimo bars are really sweet, this was no exception. The raspberry really came through, and I love the combo of raspberry and chocolate. Follow me @vinaeatsandtreats on Instagram for more honest restaurant and baking recipe reviews!
Went every morning for a couple weeks. Was my new favorite scone stop on the way to work. One afternoon I stopped on my way home from work. Wanted to buy a whole cake ( at per piece price) from their display. Was refused because I didn't order ahead. Funny. Figured if it was in the display case with a price tag on it, it would be for sale. Silly me for wanting to spoil my family with yummy cake on a whim. Was the last time I went in. Lost a daily sale on top of the $60 + I was willing to pay for the cake on the spot.
Great environment with some really talented outgoing smiley baristas waiting st the counter. It was slow when I got there at about 3 but got really busy very quickly and sporadically from there on out. Beautiful environment, will post a pic when that happens. Truly recommend :)
Good coffee and food, can't really go wrong here, everything I've tried has been fantastic. From the Curry Carrot Soup to the tarts to the cookies to the sundried tomato bread it is all great!
This cafe is famous for their Nanaimo bars, displaying their various awards received for the various Nanaimo bars on offer. They have regular Nanaimo bars as well as peanut butter and salted caramel ones. I tried the peanut butter and salted caramel ones and they were good. The peanut butter one had a mild flavour of peanut butter, with the chocolate flavour being more prominent; and the salted caramel being similarly mild with the salted caramel flavour except the bites with the prominent salt on top. Overall, if you're into Nanaimo bars then they've got you covered. I also tried their coffee, specifically the cappuccino. Unfortunately this was nothing to write home about, not having great body and being pretty average. In the middle of a weekday, this place had plenty of seats available both inside and out.
Fine buttertarts!
Great dark roast coffee and excellent Nanaimo bars; we tried the peanut butter and the salted caramel
Worth 2 hour drive from Victoria.
Very tasty Nanaimo bars and Latte.
Super friendly staff and amazing Nanaimo bars. What else do you need? Great coffee. They have that too!
I tried 4 different flavors and they were all delicious, mocha was the best hands down!
Best coffee in Nanaimo
Had to come here for the Nanaimo bars. Lots of great flavours to try!
Reliably delicious food, funky atmosphere and excellent art (by the owner Michelle) on the walls. Lots of gluten free options.
Wow. Excellent Nanaimo bar and apple pie!!!
Fantastic food and drink. Amazing staff.
Food was okay, service was meh, cleanliness was terrible. Taking money and touching the food directly without proper hand washing is gross. I don’t recommend and I don’t want to go back. Also, charging close to $4 for an Italian Soda ( which was a 2 litre of president choice spring water that had gone flat ) is ridiculous.
Nice spot
Nice chocolate cake, lots of gluten-free options
Descent coffee and fabulous food!
Yummy, fresh food with a little something for vegetarians, vegans and "normal" eaters. :-)
Amazing baked goods. Very friendly staff and a unique atmosphere. Perfect for a quick bite before catching the ferry!
For a great variety of cheese cakes that are too die for I mean it the best in town..
Great cappuccino and sweet little spot on the corner of a small shopping mall.
Best anime bar and fun flavours. Good coffee too! Also in a nice location
I’ve been going here for 20+ years, before some of these women working there were born. I like the selection and the place still has charm, artwork is cool and I love the tea. Less snobbery would merit 5 stars but there’s some real sweeties there.
Best cafe in Nanaimo.
Great staff, good coffee, and sweet music! ????
Great Cafe that is locally owned.
Good coffee, good muffins and Nanaimo bars.
I'm gluten free and vegetarian. Lots of options. And not just any options. Very good options. I had the gluten free cheddar fill muffin and it was amazing. I don't know that I've had anything that close to a normal muffin in a long time. And the brownie was indescribably good. Coffee wasn't great but everything else was so good. Highly recommend!
Great spot, relaxing atmosphere, house coffee was excellent.
Amazing coffee and the breakfast bagel is phenomenal!
Very nice coffee :-) love the atmosphere.
This place has amazing coffee (which is free) and the pastries are incredible.
Just ordered a B.L.A.T sandwich for my celiac girlfriend. Made sure to tell them it was for a serious gluten allergy and were assured their gluten free bread was ok. She is now having the worst gluten reaction she has ever experienced. If you are celiac do not trust this place. Update: I had to call an ambulance and my girlfriend spent the next 4 hours in the hospital. This was highly irresponsible and I hope this never happens to anyone else
Love the coffee here, friendly staff. Also good Nanaimo bars!!
Great Americano!
Had the original nanaimo bar and it was soo good if not sickly. Staff were super friendly and attentive!
Best Nanaimo Bar I've ever had!
Best Americano around and terrific food! Staff is warm and welcoming always.
Best Nanaimo bar I ever had
Great coffee and muffins. I love to eat the salad too.
Excellent food but tiny place
Quaint, clean & artsy. Great coffee too!
The people who work here are bullies!!!!!!! They are mean heartless and careless and cruel. I go to Tim hortons, atleast i am not bullied there!
Good coffee
Been here a few times as we live close by, iced lattes are good in the summer and great gluten free options for those who don’t have many options. However, hot coffee usually tastes burnt or watered down and not the best customer service. I waited over 10 mins for coffee as they severed other people and skip the dishes order, they said my order didn’t go through and I offered to tell them what was in my coffee but they knew, which was confusing. Better coffee shops in Nanaimo just down the street.
Nice snacks, horrible coffee. Nanaimo staple though, and I am happy to have it here.
The carrot cake ia to die for
The Nanaimo Bar Latte is really neat!
I'm just getting into espressos and cappuccinos. I've been sampling them in every coffee shop I can find. In this little shop is the first time I didn't even want to add sugar to my cappuccino. Wonderful flavour. Furthermore, they have a fantastic assortment of baked goods, including gluten free items. The two ladies behind the counter were very friendly and more than willing to chat about the coffee they use.
Best Americano and breakfast sandwiches
Recommended to us by a server at the Dinghy Dock based on her opinion that Bocca makes the best Nanaimo Bars. We agree.
Wonderful atmosphère.Food is delicious.Great place to go for coffee.????????????
Tried a few of the different nanaimo bar flavours and they were all sooo good!
They need to develop their barista skills. Their Americanos are poor in terms of quality if espresso as well as skill in making. They have been poor in "food safe" - going directly from cash to food, grabbing baked goods with hands or a napkin. They also grabbed a cup, touching the inside and lip of the cup with hands directly after touch cash. They did purchase bakery tongs, which is why I gave them 1 star. They overcharged me for a cookie at least once. Their coffee made me feel ill once, so I threw most of it out. I was having a difficult day within a very difficult life and was atypically rude one day telling people to "get out of my way". They seem to have been using this one event as an indication of my character in its entirety ever since, and from that perspective to then invalidate my input regarding hygiene. It is likely that it was the input of others, not mine alone, that led to the purchasing of the bakery tongs. I would not put it passed them to possibly tamper with your food if they judge you as unworthy of basic respect. The food is based on recipes of previous owners. It is poor in ingredients, consists largely of addictive substances such as sugar, and is harmful to Health. If I were healthier and more empowered I would not be purchasing coffee nor cookies from any cafe very often if at all. How about you? I will not be going back to Bocca as they are not trustworthy in their relations towards me. Also, generally, "consumer capitalism" as it has been expressed (profit for personal gain and reckless disregard for ecological and social and cultural Health) is toxic; to call this a "democractic" or "egalitarian" society, is a lie. True Freedom requires Health and Respect for Health, far clearer understanding of Love and far greater Respect for Love. "Freedom had many wonders to show, that [vassals and] slaves how ever contented shall never know", not even in their imaginations.
Great place to meet friends over coffee. Nice to be right in the Old City.
The breakfast bagels were awesome. Great flavor and texture. Super fresh. Don't even get me started on the award-winning Nanaimos bars.
Great coffee. The live music was really good too.
Great place to get gluten free nanaimo bars IN Naniamo! I tried googling gluten free bakery and it didn't show up. Check it out!
Awesome ????
At one time I came here everyday, stopped because the woman that owned it was such a snag. Now that the shop is under new ownership I'm back, and the quality is just as good and the staff very friendly!
I don't even like Nanaimo bars, but these were delicious.
Love this place, great accommodating staff & delicious food!
Their breakfast bagels are delicious! Service isn't always the fastest because they're always busy but their friendliness, delicious food, and great selection of treats makes up for it!
Love this place, highly recommend
Service can be slow. Food and specialty drinks take a long time to come out.
Latte was lukewarm..
Breakfast bagels are yummy, I added avacodo to mine, it was a paste which made it quite messy I would have preferred sliced pieces but overall it was good!
Look, its not starbucks, its not tim hortons, so its great. REAL COOKING PEOPLE! not sugar disguised as food.
Lovely staff, food and atmosphere
Excellent cofee and quiche!
OMG the nanaimo bars
Butter tart!!!
Excellent coffees. Baked goods also great.
(Translated) Coffee was CVA. Nicely decorated case. Shame about the service. We were sorry that no attention was paid to hygiene. The floor was just dirty and the tables weren't wiped. They were very sticky and full of crumbs. Hoping that someone would take a cloth to wipe the tables, the three of them sat down to chat behind the counter. Then my friend went to get a cloth to wipe our table a bit. (Original) Koffie was cva. Mooi aangeklede zaak.
Terrible, the sandwiches were so thin with hardly anything on them, you could only taste the bread. It was way too expensive and the staff wasn't even friendly. I have gone there twice, the second time was to give them a second change but both times my entire group were VERY disappointed. Non of us will ever go there again!
Had the Nanaimo bars. Turtle and traditional. Paired perfectly with the cappuccino. Staff was friendly and courteous. Was a great treat after a long travel. BEST NANAIMO BAR EVER!!
Seldom get to visit but never disappointed. .. recommend the ham and egg breakfast bagel on jalapeño cheese ????
Yummy muffins, not the friendliest staff.
Great breakfast sandwiches and excellent coffee
Unfortunate. Extremely slow service for an $8 orange juice that took 10 minutes to get and it was warm and not at all appealing.
Good coffee and sandwiches yet to try other things
Great coffee shop but the line ups are it's downfall. I would honestly go here more often if they could speed things up.
Known for vegan nanaimo bars but had none. Had to correct my order 4 times.
Very friendly service and their Nanaimo bars did not disappoint. I would recommend the salted caramel one ( we also tried their peanut butter and the classic which were solid too). Also had some of their specialty drinks which were fantastic.
Great service great food
Good coffee great food
I witnessed the manager (or owner) being very rude and demeaning to her employees. I will no longer be going to this establishment because i have no respect for people treating their employees this way. The food is very mediocre and nothing special. I will be telling all my friends about my experience. Please do not give your business to this place.
The best gluten free muffins in town! They're about as big as your head. Plus all kinds of delicious food (with both vegan and gluten free options), all in a cute, funky atmosphere. One of my favourite places in Nanaimo!
Great breakfast sandwiches here. Coffees were good. I would Recommend this coffee shop with its limited menu. They put a good effort into their quality products
I had one of the best coffees I've ever enjoyed there! I'm not an aficionado but the coffee was superb - I'm still trying to get my hands on some Caffe Umbria coffee. We also had some really delicious gluten-free desserts: nanaimo bars to die for.
Best Nanaimo bars I’ve ever tried.. so good we had to come back for seconds. The salted caramel is unreal!
An oasis.
It's very small, it's stressful. I'd go down the street for coffee and/or food. Try bees knees or the vault
Great spot ????
Second or third time disappointed with the Big Bocca cookie and their baked goods in general. Used to be awesome but have gone downhill. . Used to buy the Bocca cookie a few years back and they were great, chock full of nuts seeds AND chocolate. Now they have almost no nuts, few seeds and the teeniest morsels of chocolate but cost more than ever before at $5.25 (!) for a cookie of dough. very disappointing.
Great coffee, better service!
We detoured here expecting a famous Nanaimo bar to find they were closed even during the opening times on the door. Very disappointed
Vegetarian Breakfast Bagel- Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel .... Soooo good!
Good Nanaimo squares :)
Best desserts in the city!!
Nanaimo hot chocolate was a nice variety, different taste then I accepted. They have a nice Nanaimo bar variety. Friendly staff. Oddly other cafes were closed and this one was open on a Tuesday morning.
Google location pin is wrong, Bocca Cafe is inside the Old Street Place, at the intersection of Shelby St. and Fitzwilliam St.
Great downtown cafe with lots of home made goodies. Generous portions. Basic seating and can get cramped at times. Friendly staff and funky tunes.
Coffee is good and staff are really friendly but the food is almost all terrible. They can't even make cookies taste good. Go to the cupcakery instead, she makes coffee too.
Went for a French press coffee this morning and wow what an incredible coffee! Will definitely be back and will be a regular!
Great
Great spot to have coffee, breakfast or lunch. Lots of homemade choices.
I was driving through Nanaimo, so of course I googled “best Nanaimo Bars in Nanaimo.” All I can say is, if these aren’t the best, I can’t handle to best. I sampled three flavours. Each better than the last.
The service was bad and I had to clean my table myself.
Nanaimo Bars are spot on, so tasty. Service was great, don't bother with the Nanaimo bar Latte, its okay. Can't distinguish the flavor of the drink, if you didn't tell me.
Amazing cookies and scones. Old City Quarter cafe with outdoor seating. Next to local shops including women's fashion and accessories
Awesome place to get Nanaimo bars in Nanaimo ... Apparently this is a thing
Loved it Best chocolate berry muffins Ever!
Excellent place to come for a coffee or some delicious food
Best gluten free everything on the planet. Lovely staff and trust me try the muffins
Quick service with a smile. Lots of goodies for breakfast and one of the better mochas I've found downtown
I would like to start off with saying, I have been coming here for years. It was such a great place with unique treats and the best coffee I’ve ever had. The staff have been absolutely amazing, and still are on that note. Over the past year, I’ve noticed, despite the smiling faces and cheerful demeanour of the staff and management, the “vibe” just isn’t the same. Since the new owners have taken ownership, I’m sad to say that I can notice the atmosphere has changed. Owning a new business takes a while to get running smoothly, I know. It has been close to, if not a year since the new ownership and have noticed the new owners are still struggling with their vocabulary. Personally if I was in their position, I would make an effort in full force to learn English as fluently as possible. Taking that into consideration, their are more than lucky to have such great staff. Without the young manager and staff (who have been there for years) this lovely little coffee shop would meet its demise. It seems like their the ones keeping it afloat. Put the effort in, and you’ll do great. And to the manager and staff, great job! In my eyes you guys are the reason this place hasn’t gone under. Keep up the good work and thank you for the delicious coffee and muffins!
