REVIEWS OF Pâtisserie Au Kouign Amann IN Montreal

Simple yet delicious, highly recommended. The Kouign Amann is the house specialty, you have to try it. Warm, sweet, perfection! ????

Mimi W

Au Kouign Amann is one of THE best bakeries I've gone to and is now a must-visit every time I'm in the area and every time I get it, this delectable butter and sugar pie blows my mind. I simply cannot believe how good this thing is. Always the same, always fresh. This is absolutely heavenly. There is a reason why these guys are constantly baking these throughout the day: they sell out fast and I know why! -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Michael Xu

Definitely try the Kouign Amann, you will not regret it. It is the specialty here and it is incredibly delicious and always worth the wait. They also accept card if you make a purchase of more than $5, which is really nice

Priya Patel

The Kouign Amann is the best pastry I’ve ever had! I love how everything is served as it is made. Everything is so fresh and the owner and the staff are so friendly and nice. The Croissants are also very well made. I love the homely atmosphere. I will definitely be back again.

Simon Bullock

Delicious kouign Amann pie and the best croissants in town. Worth stopping in for a baked treat. There's very limited seating so better off taking out on the go

Najat Naser

Amazing Kouign Amann.as expected. The almond croissants are tasty too.

Drew Farinha

One of the greatest things I’ve ever eaten. I’ve tried to find here in Toronto- there’s nothing remotely comparable. Go. Impossible to not have more than one….Impossible.

Dhinesh Panneer M

Yummy Buttercakes!

Rebecca Munroe

Best croissants in Montreal! With one bite, you feel like you are on the streets of Paris!!

Juan Ng

The best pastry in the city. It was so delicious and a local favorite cause we didnt see any advertisement.

Jennifer Low

The freshest most delicious baked goods I have had in a long time. I highly recommend the Au Kouign Amann pastry. It was sweet & buttery with a slight caramelized crunch on top. The croissant was soft, flaky and decadent.

Anna Vouyioukas

Will come back to Montreal just for this bakery! Absolutely delicious! Make sure to come here in the morning for some warm pastries!

Pere Via

Awesome cozy place, great patisseries croissants and any kind of cake, coffee good but very small place to stay , good to get something to go and walk to Mont Royal

Robert McGrath

Wife and I were lucky enough to get a table with room for our two year old. Amazingly nice counter guy. Great view of the work going on in back. Croissant with cheese, chocolate croissant, quiche Lorraine, kouing amann, cafe au lait - all excellent. My son only let us steal a bite each of the chocolate croissant we got for him. Excellent visit all around. A must visit place in Montreal.

Zhe Li

The Kouign Amann is $2.53 after tax. Very delicious

Kitty Li

Their viennoiseries and quiches are top-notch.

Yuqing Wang

One of the best croissants in town, I got it and made a sandwich with turkey breast and avocado at home, so good, the crispness of that croissant ????

Madeline Jackson

DELICIOUS pastries. Won't find croissants this good unless you go to France. Small but warm and cozy interior.

Michael Gruener

Absolutely delicious! They are a small bakery and will run out if you get there too late. Everybody loves their deliciousness.

Andrew Izzo

Delicious croissants. Great neighborhood stop for breakfast.

Andrea Zdyb

Best freshly-made croissants (by the minute as you patiently wait - if none are ready) at this tiny "cash only" bakery ;) The smell alone is Devine!!

Cindy Fung

Came here to try the famous Kouign Amann. There was around 1.5 pie left when we arrived at 10am. We ordered 1 slice of the Kouign Amann, one almond croissant and one apple turnover. The Kouign Amann, as expected, has very strong butter taste. It's more buttery than sweet. We pair it with espresso and it was wonderful. The almond croissant was also pretty awesome. Very flaky and not hard. The apple turnover was surprisingly very not sweet. We thought it would taste like MCD apple pie but it's totally not sweet. We had a bit of trouble ordering as we do not speak French, but the staff was patient with us and we were able to order at the end.

Gökhan Demirtaş

Best croissant fresh out of oven I've ever tried, and that includes the ones I had in France. Cosy, small place full of locals which is evidence of how good it is

Alex Tang

The kouign amann is amazing! It's like a buttery layered croissant pie but sweeter and tasty!

Luke Martin

So good and only $2.5! Worth it!!

Zeynep Kartal

You have to try the Kouign Amann! Such an amazing taste. Better to go in early cause they sell out pretty quick. They also have other pastries.

Adriana Galue

This place has just the most amazing croissants in the whole city of Montreal. During my extended visit, I went there everyday. Their quiches are also amazing. The service is also excellent !

Karen sanchez

This bakery transports you to France. Everything is traditional and delicious. I can't wait to visit again tomorrow.

Peter Skotnyk

Amazing pastries, best in the world!!!!

TP T

They don't have a lot of selections but what they have is great. I love to come by to eat their fresh and just out of the oven croissant. Their coffee latte is good too. As for their speciality the Kouign-amann, I'm not a fan of it. It tasted like a flan but more bready and with chewy crust.

Sébastien Bernt

Unforgettable. Went both days we stayed in the city. Tried a piece of the Kouign Amann the first day and bought an entire pie the second to bring home :)

yasaman ezazi

What can I say! You should go and taste their pastries by yourself! Great little Cafe to show off your knowledge of the town to your favorite girl ????

Thomas Chen

The kouign amann has become a sort of "statement pastry" among my friends. It seems to epitomize flavor, texture, technique, and complexity/simplicity -- all in one bite. Personally, I enjoyed the KA at Pâtisserie Au Kouign Amann. The butter flavor and yeasty goodness comes through. But some will object that it eats more like a pie/cake, rather than the small croissant-like pastry round. (People really want more caramelized surface area!) I counted 16 layers, which are rather thick, compared to the ~100 usually found in smaller versions. It's worth a visit! Other pastry items are worth exploring, but they don't compare to the KA.

Sheban Naim

Friendly staff, excellent coffee! Their quiche and croissants are a must-try.

Alekhya M

This place is rightly named after the heavenly Kouign-Amann, pronounced as queen a-mahn. Our bad that we asked for a single slice. We packed our single slice to Mont Royal and ate it there and were blown away how delicious and buttery it was. We loved every bite of it and regretted not getting more. So I called and asked if they can keep a slice. I should've asked for more than a slice but it's ok - eating too much of the fattiest dessert isn't the best thing to do. The lady on the phone was very kind and kept a slice. So we went back all the way and picked up our slice. We resisted the temptation to eat right there. We lasted a whole day and then we went at it. This is another foodie reason that I would love to live in Montreal.

Janusz Bialy

Cute cafe with delicious pastries!

Francis Leong

So good taste for large, pizza pie-sized rounds of kouign amann. Ate 2 slice of it... not so sweet nor plain. The sweetness is just right. And having it with a coffee will be awesome.

parth malhotra

Amazing almond croissant and their main pastry. Although my last croissant from here had some non edible crunchy thing in it, was weird. Not sure what it was. Sad about that :/

Andrea John-Smith

We went every morning of our vacation. Best pastries in Mont Royal. Favorite was the Koihn Amann pastry. Pronounced queen ahmahn

Gregory Oh

My favourite plateau bakery. Try their signature pastry - it is the best one of its kind, far superior, for example, to Dominique Ansel in Soho. Also a good croissant. Very homey and friendly. Excellent prices, even better value.

Christine Fahmy

Everything is awesome, from their cafe au lait, do their quiches, to of course their kouign amann pies

Claudine Lee

I came here to try the kouign-amann but they were unfortunately out of it. I came near closing time so it makes sense. The owner suggested to come earlier during the day as they aren't sure when they'll run out. I did get to try the chocolatine and croissant which were both lovely. The croissant was flaky and had a nice buttery flavour even though I had it a little bit after. I also enjoyed the chocolatine. Would come back to try other pastries whenever I'm in Montreal again.

Anson Li

Everything fresh. The British dessert was full of butter and tasty. Must try.

Noura Daadaa

Best croissant ever. I love the place, local, warm and cozy , staff are so nice!

Bretton Scott

Transcending. This would be the only word I would use to describe the Kouign Amann at its respectably named shop. It is so simple, and so unassuming, but like a zen master, the pastry chef has turned simple ingredients into something you cannot get anywhere in North America. The spot is small, so get it fresh, and eat it there. We also tried the chocolate almond croissant which was mind blowing as well. We fly in from New York, drop our bags off at the hotel, and come straight here. We make sure to order a whole cake to go upon departure.

Jasmine Murphy

Great food, great service, respectable prices

Benjamin G.

In my opinion, they make the best croissants in Montreal (2014-2018). The Kouign-Amann (sweet and buttery pie) is one of a kind and definitely worth trying -if you're not counting calories obviously!

Shelly Wilson-Thompson

We tried the butter cake, quiche lorraine, and the chocolate croissant. Everything was delish!!!! If you are visiting Montreal (as we are), skip the tourist spots and come here! And get the butter cake!

Nathan McCain

The croissant here is great - flaky, buttery and light. We also had a plum pastry which was fantastic, sweet and crunchy. The espresso was piping hot and paired nicely with the pastry. …

Abby B.

Tried every croissant in the place. AMAZING, especially the almond croissant!! I want to spend every morning here for the rest of my life.

sanaa malik

Everything was super fresh and very tasty. Cute ambiance. Kouign aman and croissants were on point

Francis Picard

Really small. Better take your order to go. Pastries really are good. Wish they could reduce the huge kitchen space they have to allow for more tables to eat on site.

Dominic Norman

The Kouign Amann are really something else. Unique, comforting, just sweet enough. Love it! (recommended during colder days, might be a little heavy otherwise)

D C

The croissants: Lovely fluffy layers inside and a nice crisp on the outside. I am loving that the croissants were not oily and crazily buttery. The staff were friendly too! I would go back soon for more croissants!

Alexander Yu

So i can see why people love this place, it's good. The taste is of some items are not to my taste though that's why it lost a star but by no means this should influence you. Please try it. The good: cheese croissant was very different, it had a spice it Ginger or something on it that have an extra kick. Absolutely amazing. The okay: croissant: very bready and fluffy on the inside, over of the few croissants where the inside is better than out. Though i prefer Mamie (more crunch) or Fred's (more butter) than this. But is good. The not my taste but i can see why people like it: kouign amann. Was sweet and buttery bread with a crust exterior. For my taste it's too sweet, but i can see why people love it. It's good but depends what you want. The location: cute, small with a park nearby. :) Staff is very friendly. :)

Ruth Pittman

This is our little secret place for bitter almond cake made fresh and tasty.

Chris Berardi

Amazing pastries and pretty good espresso as well. A must place to try if you ever visit Montreal.

William Bennett

Stunningly authentic and good....they don't even have a sign out front right now, but the line out the door reveals the goodness waiting inside.

Winnie May Chan

5/5 stars! My favourite local pâtisserie to visit when I am in Montréal. It’s a humble family run pâtisserie tucked in Mont Royal, just west of Saint Denis and they’re renowned for their Kouign Amann, a flaky buttery cake from Brittany (their croissants are also to die for). The pâtissier is from and trained in Normandy and his kouign amann and croissants rival those found in popular pâtisseries in France (a taste of home away from home)! The service is lovely too.

Kimberly Harrington

The food tastes great and the service was amazing!

Rojin Shojaiee

*Drooling while thinking about this place* I bring back a couple of their authentic Kouign Amann’s whenever I visit MTL. Yummm!!

Sarah R

Came in for a quick bite to share, was greeted right away and the service was quick. Decided on the Croque ham and emmenthal sandwich, i loved the quality ingredients and perfect portions which I shared with my sister. We split some baked sweets and a juice and was satisfied for hours! Delicious and warm local ambiance

tai chang

This Kouign-amann cake is simply delicious! The cake gets a 5-star. Service here is just the opposite though, sadly. We had a rude gentleman serve us who made us feel both unwelcome and disrespected.

Billy William

A tasty classic, don't pass it up if you're in the area and are looking for a sweet treat!

Ben Hall

Kouing amann = incredible. Best pastry/ cake I've eaten

Ladan Samar

One of the best places in Montreal. I liked it better pre renovation though. Very authentic and delicious.

Cameron Shurtz

Great bakery. Highly recommend.

Joseph Peris

The Kouign Amann taste so good!

Wang I-Chuan

It is one of the best croissant bakeries in Montreal. The products are always fresh and reasonable price.

Luis Miguel Gonzalez

In Breton language Kouign-amann means butter cake, although I think it really means a slice of heaven. When you taste this French (Breton to be precise) classic pastry you enjoy in a simple bite a cake that is warm, flaky, fluffy, buttery, cheesey and sweet at the same time. A place to visit and revisit all four Seasons.

Emma K

Omg I walked 40 minutes just for this place, the kouign amann is absolutely amazing. I Google how to make it and was so sad when I saw how hard it was. If you are in Montreal forget bagels you NEED to try this place!

Yana Savchenko

Years pass by and the quality stays the same. Bravo the team. Thank you for keeping the place worthy the wait

Donna Forde

Incredible croissants and of course the Kougn Aman is out of this world!

Sophie Courchesne

These are the BEST pastries in Montreal! The croissants are the best I've ever had and the service is amazing. A MUST.

magixx

Kougin amann and chocolatine were great but the almond croissant could have been improved.

kashif shahzada

Pastries were amazing but the coffee and Latte sucked. When I first asked the guy said they do the whole design on the latte , but after I paid him he said sorry can't do it right now cuz its end of day. Stick to pastries here and the croissant was heavenly !

Daniel de Paula

They have pastries matching the best I've tried in France. Excellent!

Anne Shiraishi

Cute, local bakery with really great prices. You must eat the kouign amann warm, it’s an out of this world experience. Bought a full cake for a birthday and it was a hit!

The Upset Kitten

This place is my addiction. Their pastries are really good and mouth watering. A definite must try experience for any tourist on the plateau.

Michael Ablan

Some of the best French pastries in North America. The croissants, chocolatines, and kouign-amann were unbelievably delicious. Can’t recommend more — this bake shop is the best.

Matthew Rafat

My pastry and quiche were terrible. The quiche was under heated and the croissant seemed oddly lukewarm. Also, seating is limited. (February 2019)

Hana Knapčoková

I was quite disappointed because the reviews here were so good. Coffee was average or below average, pastry was fine but nothing special. Staff wasn't very nice and they were offended that I wanted to speak English. The prices were very good though.

Andy Ng

Popular pastry shop serving up traditional kouign amann, turnovers, croissants and quiches. The shop itself has a old time feel, and the servers are the nicest one could ask. The kouign amann, is baked in a large pan, and cut into pie shaped wedges. It has a softer and chewy texture compared to the modern style. The turnover was divine with its crackly crust, and sweet apple filling. Delicious!!!

David Pittman

My favorite patisserie/boulangerie in all of Montreal. Everything here is amazing. The croissants jambon/fromage are intense and buttery. The quiches and coffees are superb. But the namesake Breton pastry is to die for. Mostly takeaway, there are two tables in the windows of you want to sit and eat.

Ralph Simbulan

Probably the best bakery in Montreal! Everything is amazing and the people are so nice!!

Sky Sky (Sky)

The Kouing Amann is soooooo good. I would eat ten of these if I can!

Jo Jo Chan

Extremely dissapointed in their lack of professionalism and sense of responsibility. Called ahead of time to double check their holiday hours and placed an order to bring back home as a gift and pick up before closing time. As a tourist and flying out the next day, I purposely took the transit to their store, to then have been told they "have no idea where my kouign amann is and we dont have one for you. Dont know who took your order but we have no solution. Come again when we open." There were other orders waiting to be picked up but said they were already pre-paid; if the staff had mentioned that paying was the only way they would ensure there is one on hold, I 100% would have done so; but she did not mention it at all. Now I'm left with having to go home empty handed, thanks.

Emily Driver

Lovely little cafe with a great selection of pastries, soup, drinks. Well worth a visit to eat a Kouign Amann pastry!

Jenn Jones Clinkscales

Amazing. So delicious!

Byron Rodenburg

The kouing amann is absolutely amazing. They do sell out, so get there early. The selection is not as plentiful as other pastry shops, but you are going there for the namesake. Seating is limited, but that's to be expected for a small neighborhood shop. The staff was wondeful. We traveled from Colorado for the food in Montreal and this place makes the trip worthwhile (along with a few others).

Manouel

Wow, never ate anything like that. Do yourself a favour and just go here, but remember to call/order first.

Bakery Addiction

Cosy place, just the kind of bakery that I like. The service was excellent, and the pastries too !!

Joseph D. Velasco

Clean, fresh products, can improve by using fresher blueberries for their tartelette. Really enjoyed everything else that I had.

Gregory Merchel

Delicious juice, pastries and coffee! Loved the almond croissant.

Christopher Sarsons

Found this place by accident walking past. Food is incredible! Especially they're specialty kouign amann. Not to be missed, a one of a kind experience.

Dan K

House special, the kouign amann is dangerously good. I tried a peace one day and liked it so much I went back and bought half a tray the next day.

Zsasa Yasana

You can smell the butter and sugar right before you walk in! I was very excited to come here during my Montreal visit and wanted to buy a whole kouign amann. I settled for half instead, ate 1 piece and brought the rest back with me to California. ????

Sidika Ayfer Aydin

Nice place, tasty bakeries. All hand made fresh so you can see bakers working. Perfect place to enjoy a treat and coffee.

Colt Chapin

A small Belgian local bakery with a fantastic array of selection. Not only is the food good, but the atmosphere is familial, cozy, and welcoming.

Feras Takriti

Incredible French pastries, can’t describe how good the almond croissant and the Kouign Amann were, could be a little bit life changing ;)

Lorne Rembach

Without a doubt, the best pâtisserie/boulangerie that I have ever been to. It is small and cute inside. Plan to enjoy your pastries back home or in the park! We visited Au Kouign Amann 3 times in 3 days ordering the almond croissants, cheese croissants, traditional croissant (mmm so delicious) and finally the kouign amann (rich, but must get a slice!). This place is an absolute must try and I wish I can give it more than five stars

Simon G

I enjoyed the almond croissant here which lives up to the standards to be expected in the city of Montreal. The croissant has a crisp exterior coated with thinly sliced almonds and a light sprinkle of confectioners sugar. The interior is much softer and mushier, a hearty almond paste that satiates your deepest almond-desires. The café au lait was also quite good. The service and prices here are quite reasonable. The unusual name for this place originates from the name of a pastry which it is well known for.

Afshin Moazami

Lots of calories, but no regrets! The Kouign Amann pastry is a must eat!

Tyler Smith

Anglophone visiting from Ontario. Spent better part of a week in Quebec. This was my favourite place hands down. Do not miss it if you are visiting. More essential to see and eat than any poutine or bagels. Outstanding food. All the staff was super nice. It is tiny, so you might not be able to stay to eat.

Ariel Shimoni

Oh wow. If you are reading this, and in Montreal, go there now and eat that buttery sugary thing they make. Insanely good.

Sara ali

Amazing bakery very very delicious & fresh I think it will be my weekly enjoyment

Scott Spiegelberg

I tried their specialty the Kouign Amann and its as good as others have said. I didn't even look at the price since I knew I had to try it (I even had saved a YouTube video on it years ago in case I ever went back to France - not knowing at the time it was in Montreal too). Anyway, the amazing thing is it's only $2.50 a slice including tax! WOW! I was shocked. In Toronto they would charge at least $4.50 a slice plus tax (so double). Even mediocre baked goods at Tim Hortons cost more than $2.50. So if in Montreal, definitely search them out and get a few slices (or even a whole one for $25 if you have a family or are having a dinner party. People will freak out and say "Where did you get this?"

Thy N

Small place, cash only and a few limited items. I had a kouign amann, croissant and quiche. They were all good. Will come back soon!

Minmay “May” J

Loved the almond and chocolate crossiant. It was so light, fresh and fluffy despite all the sugary goodness on top. Can't wait to go back for more.

Adrienne Jung

Wonderful baked goods! The smell brings back memories of my summers in Brittany. The croissants are perfectly buttery and flaky and the kouign amann, their namesake, is fantastic. You really can't go wrong with anything you order. The space is small, so plan to wait for seating or just take your delicious pastries home with you (and probably eat them on the way because the scent is irresistible).

Andressa Fiorucci

Best croissant in town, best hot chocolate, best quiche... It is really really good.

Bo-rum Hammond

The kouign amann is honestly like a little slice of heaven. The only downside to the place is there is only space for maybe 5 people to sit.

Denis chmielewski

For sure among the best pastries in Montreal. They have a few things your won't find anywhere else like passons au lait, kouign aman... Prices are reasonable. They take cash only. It is very crowded after 1000.

Rachael C (MsRachieboo)

FAV place to grab their famous kouign amann pastry! Do try the maple tart as well...its divine! I take away their pastries every month! Its a MUST to eat. Pair the kouign amann with coffee and you are in heaven!

M J

Absolutely delicious. Absolument Délicieux. Best brunch we had our entire trip, and the staff are great. Nice to see them making the pastries right there.

Xuan Hien Lam

Nice little bakery with great product. Only problem is that you mostly cannot eat or drink on site because the shop is always flooded with people and there is not enough place, let alone chair for everybody that wants to consume their bakery or coffee on site.

Bruce Morgan

Huge portions of delicious food for little money, fast service, friendly staff.

Manjit Grewal

You will never regret waiting in line for a croissant here! Always fresh and delicious :) Everytime I visit Montreal I stop in to grab a croissant. I am pretty excited to be moving to the city in the new year! I won't have to drive hundreds of kms to enjoy them! :)

Anne Langley

Yum! Quiche and Kouign Amann and cafe au lait. To die for.

VoudouLounge

One of the best little hidden gems in Montreal if you can only get lucky to find their signature pastry the Kouign Amann as it’s usually sold out but they said you can order a full pie ahead of time and pick it up to secure your order which I highly recommend because it just might be one of the tastiest treats you’ve ever tried. Above average Croissants here too and I’m sure all their other stuff is really good as well and reasonably priced ????????

Thuy NG

I go to this bakery each time I go to Montréal. Their kouign amann is so buttery, and delicious. Un pur bonheur!

David Marzano

The namesake pastry may be one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Enjoyed whilst strolling about on a brisk morning.

Jesse Daniel Smith

Polite and courteous staff, amazing pastry/coffee and very affordable pricing. Will absolutely be back

Georgia Koumpenaki

The best croissant i have ever had in my life ! It is buttery, rich , warm and so flavourful ! The bakery is small and cozy with very french attitude ! Loved it!

Nobue K. Yoshioka

Polite and professional employees. Delicious pastries. Point taken for not enough seats.

Edu Meneses

Great kouign amann. As they do it pie/cake style, you can buy a single piece or an entire cake (have to order in advance). Some say they have other good pastries there, including croissants. But honestly, I was never capable to go there and buy anything other than kouign amanns. They are just too good...

Erynn Mayes

Heaven. The Kouign Amann was pure bliss. Fluffy, airy, rich, flakey, subtly caramely & sweet.

TianTian Eats

I was in charge of desserts for friends' new year's dinner, so naturally I got a whole bunch of kouign amann (my fave pastry ever) from the boulangerie. We ended up not having enough to split among the group because I ate one too many before bringing the pastries to dinner... then I lied about having never had the boulangerie's kouign amann so my poor french friends would ration me the last piece on the table. Am I going to hell for all the gluttony and lies?

Jerome Harfouche

Serving specialties from Brittany and other delicious pastries, this is a cute, cozy spot for breakfast. Everything is really tasty

Tee Lory

Awwww I love their kouing amann !!! It's the perfect combination of soft, crunchy and sweet. Even their croissants are so fresh

dorie p

Delicious flakey plain croissant with the perfect amount of butter & chewiness inside - worth the walk!

Katarina Stevanovic

Cozy little bakery with a small selection of pastries; but what they do have, they make amazingly. The Breton kouign amann was fresh out of the oven: warm, fluffy with just a bit of caramelized bite to it, it was just the right combination of sweetness with a hint of tang. The croissants aux amandes were rightfully not as good, because it really is hard to beat the kouign amann.

Mayra Anicer

I had VERY high expectations. The pastries are delicious but the Kouing Amann gave me the biggest heart burn of my life!!!

Russel Gitalis

Absolutely amazing baked goods. However, accessibility is lacking. Make sure to check the times it's open before going. Also usually they will only speak French. Great way to practice!!! Other than that order the Kouign Amann!!!!

Meng C

Their famous Kouign Amann is worth the travel! I also got a croissant and a pecan maple tart but they were average, nothing special.

gurraj ahluwalia

Sometimes you eat food that changes your world. This place is where you find such food. The croissants are the best I've ever had- both in taste and in texture. To make it even better, the price is incredible for the quality of food. Thank you for destroying my life, for no other croissant will ever taste good to me.

Jason Gshwandtner

What else can you say about a place that is consistently amazing on every visit. The croissant jambon is delicious with a generous portion of ham. The almond croissants are just right. Not too sweet. With chocolate they are even better. The kouign a man is perfect with a cup of coffee. As much as anything it is the friendly and very efficient manner of the staff that impresses me. No matter how long the line, they are never rushed, but everything moves quickly. Everyone leaves with a smile on their face. A well run business and one of my favorite bakeries anywhere.

Matthew Hine

My god, the croissants and chocolatines. Quiche, soup, and various pastries all wonderful as well, but those croissants, especially when fresh...

Christopher Obidniak

Amazing Bakery!! Good coffee, great croissants and other pastries! You must try the kouing Amann... such a delicious dessert/sweet pastry.

lapin royal

One of the best croissant ???? in Montreal

Best Quests

The definition of "made with love" the creation of these heavenly pastries is almost magic. Beyond description (but we'll still try) tasting the croissants is like kissing a very delicate, buttery, flaky cloud. The ridiculously delectable, rich, adequately sweet Kouign-amann stays astonishingly fresh for a truly impressive amount of time (we tried it immediately after purchasing and then again over 36 hours later and it tasted the same!! ????) A must try and repeat many times over.

smallwang

Traditional french bakery. The kouign amann tastes like a chewy butter cake. Old school dessert!

Mahmoud El-Nouri

Great patisserie, their signature pastry is pure joy

Melinda Rahmayanti

Not many pâtisseries sell kouign (i wonder why?), this is one of the best in town

Mario Machado

The best pastry shop in Montreal. Every pastry in the shop is top of the line and some of the best pastries I've had in the world! The Kouign Amann is especially amazing and I often suggest people give it a try before they purchase their standard croissant or tart (or buy both)!

Amy Yang

Friendly staff. Not a lot of seats so be prepared to enjoy your treats to-go. Highly recommend the croque madame that is heated upon order. They do run out if you don't go early enough though; we were lucky to get the last one.

Ashuni Patel

I went here at 10am and tried their signature pastry Au Kouign Amann and fell in love. I went back to get the whole pie but they had sold out (for good reason)!! This should definitely be on your list of places to visit, even if you’re only there for a day like I was!

Karl Azrak

I am a big fan of Montreal's boulangeries and pattiseries and Au Kouign Amann is no exception. The pastry is delicious, flaky and buttery with an almost creme brulee top. Each bite is a delight, and whenever I'm in the mood for a classic, well made pastry I know where to go.

Jocelyn Peng

Reiterating what others have said... this place has the best kougin-amann in the city. Kougin-amann is a flakey pastry made of butter, sugar and dough layered together, creating a beautiful harmomy of sugary bliss. It is definitely the tastiest and most indulgent French pastry out there, and Pâtisserie Au Kougin Amann does it well, right in Montreal. They also sell crossaints, quiche and coffee (also a delight! Loved the almond crossaints with an almond paste inside!) The girl at the front was also super nice and spoke perfect English when I didn't understand her French! What else can I say except you must go here if you're in Montreal!

Pedro Hizo

THEY ARE CLOSED FOR VACATION UNTIL AUG. 8TH 2019 (as of July 20th). SMH. I wish they would've posted it on this maps listing or elsewhere. The kouign-amann here is easily one of the highlights of any Montreal visit. We prolly would've come another weekend had we known. Went to Patisserie Rhubarbe instead for an amann fix. That place is awesome for most other things but no other place here can match Kouign-Amann for its namesake pastry. I mean, they chose that title for a reason. FIVE STARS FOR BEING SO DELICIOUS THAT I WOULD'VE ADJUSTED MY TRIP TO MATCH. SMH...

Flavio

Best place ever to taste the best croissant ever!!????

Janet Bufton

So glad we stopped here. Quiche for breakfast and half a slice of kouign amann was cheap and just right. Croissants were only OK but the croissant sandwiches were nice anyway.

Alessandra Szekut

Everything here is delicious and worth to try! The place is very small (just 3 small tables) so you may not find a place to sit.

Ahmad A

If you’re visiting Montreal you should stop here and get some local croissants

Adrian Law

Nice, friendly and warm counter service, the kouign amann was absolutely spectacular. It wasn’t overly sweet, had a great caramel chewy crust and soft buttery layers. We also ordered a regular and a chocolate croissant. The croissants weren’t special, fairly average. Unfortunately the chocolate croissant contained very little chocolate and the top layer tasted a little burned. We simply peeled away the top layer and enjoyed the rest. The quiche and other products looks great, we look forward in visiting again to try out other items!

Paul Left

Da BEST! Kouign Amann are so tasty, rich and buttery that they would get a smile whenever your tastebuds start feeling them. Amazing. Chocolatines and croissants are great too, but they got their name for a reason. DO NOT MISS the chance to enjoy these pastries.

Amice Hubbard

Good prices, good pastries, great customer service

アメリ

If you've never tried kouing amann, do yourself a favor and go buy a slice RIGHT NOW

Dasha Pyat

This is a local staple - the Kouign Aman cake! I wasn’t sure what to expect, and it’s not what I expected - but it was AMAZING.

[ PJKZ ]

please at least spell kouign amann correctly on your front door

Avinash Chopde

Kouign Amann is a flaky, crusty, buttery, sweet, cheesy cake, originally from Brittany. Very good! Best if eaten warm.

K C

Served warm and fresh, incredibly tasty. That piece of kouign amann made my week.

Jolene Liu

The best pie and cake I ever had in Montreal! Feel a little bit sad that we can not dine-in or it will be great. Overall, I would like to go back and eat thousands of times.????

Denzil D'Sa

Literally the best place for fresh hot croissants in the city. That is all.

Yves Toe

Friendly staff and the Kouign-Amann is amazing!

Lyubov Lytvyn

Loved this place! Incredible pecan tart, very crumbly and delicious crust. Almond chocolate croissant was also super delicious, although it’s more dense and buttery rather than flaky. The kouign amann was pretty good, it was kind of like a folded crepe with a crispy sugary top - I didn’t really get the hype over it.

Thilaknath Ashokkumar

One of the best pastry shops around the Plateau Mont Royal. You won't be disappointed trying Kouign Amman. But maybe sometimes they will run out. Apart from Kouign Amman, they have one of the best pain au chocolat in town. Don't miss out the soups if you want to try something hot.

Leslie L

Product/Service: 5/5 Pastries are so delicious. First thing to come back to when I come back to Montreal. I am dreaming about their croissants and pastries. The kouign amann is sometimes not available when early in the day so we missed it, but we'll be back. Location: 5/5 Central and trendy location. Price: 5/5 Very reasonable. Atmosphere: 4/5 Typical bakery but authentic.

Heather Mahon

The staff was extremely friendly. Very kind in explaining what everything was in English. Fabulous "Kouign Amann" pastry....quiche also excellent. The smell of cheese and sugar were so pleasant. Highly recommend. Will return.

Ashly Moreno

I love it! Amazing pastries and the kouign-Amman was incredible ????????

Natalie Johnson

Tried the Kouign Amann and it was excellent. So buttery and flakey.

Dave Adams

The signature pastry shouldn't be missed. The quicker and croissants are excellent. The staff is anglophone-friendly.

Rine Vieth

Amazing. Super small inside, but arguably the best croissant I've had. Good coffee, too. And, try a kouign amman... Super delicious!!

Ernest Szoka

Old School classic French Bakery. awesome croissants and the kouign amann pastry is hardcore delicious!

Anh Thu Dinh

Great patisserie, great service, amazing kouign amann! I discovered this place few years ago and keep coming back.

Yuting Ding

First time to have Kouign-Amann and I love it. The golden shinning crusty looks very tempting, a little bit sweet and a little bit sticky. Inside are multiple layers made with flour and butter. The texture is very buttery and soft. I wish I had a huge stomach so that I can have fresh almond croissant, regular croissant, brioche, fruit tart, quince and Kouign-Amann all at the same time. Lol~ I am just being greedy. I did get two almond croissants to go though and hope they are still fresh and taste good tomorrow morning;) coffee au lait is also good. I love their simple and rustic decoration, which reminded me grandma’s house in the countryside;)

Marc-André B

Best croissants in Montreal. Classic croque-monsieurs. Just great.

Diaa Mostafa

I bought two big boxes of kouign Amann for a group of friends and everyone loved them :)

Jonathon Chen

Freshly baked croissants and pastries.

Lee Demers

Went on an early Saturday afternoon, there was a line out the door. Got the kouign amann and a cheese croissant, both were delicious and some of the best pastries we had during our stay in Montreal.

Christina Wick

Every single thing that I have had the pleasure of indulging in has been phenomenal. The croissants, baguettes and tarts (especially the cranberry-almond) are equally superb. Also their name-sake is quite delicious. The wait staff is friendly and helpful, even to those who don't speak French. The bakery is usually quite busy and the two small tables are usually occupied. I look forward to the next time I will get to eat their decadent food. Merci!

Kristen Drummond

Best croissants in the city, possibly the world. Also a delicious selection of quiches and other pastries! If you live in Montreal (or are even just visiting), this patisserie is a must. Do yourself a favour and become a regular!

Christina Tsuei

The best croissants in Montreal. And the unique, simple but yummy kouign amann, must try. Just go with coffee ????

Alysia L

Super friendly staff. Great prices (low prices but high quality) try their croissant melt for something savoury and their kouign amann (pastry with a crispy caramelized outer shell with a buttery croissant-like inside). Their freshly squeezed juices looked really good too!

Aidy O.

Best Kouign Aman in town!

Ana Lovera

You have to try the Kouign Amann, it is (as I have been told) a very old european style sweet, it is OH SO Good. They also make (in my opinion) the best croissants in Montreal. The only risk visiting this place is that you may become addicted. Their prices are great and their staff is so friendly too.

LiaCores

This is a small patisserie, but really cute and cozy and it's totally worth to go inside and try their croissants and delicious sandwiches. It's a great place to have a coffee, but since it's small, sometimes it's difficult to find a place to sit, however if you do find, you will feel like in coffee shop in Paris with a great view from Mont-Royal Ave. This place if few minutes walking distance from metro Mont-Royal.

Eric Andrés Jardón Chao

Oh my god the Kouign Amann is too good. Croissants are perfect and very affordable. Coffee is ok

Mike Kent

Proper Paris level almond croissant; flakey, buttery, and crispy almond slices with perfectly sweet paste. The Americano wasn't bad either.

Martin Gelgoot

Great food, their baked good are some of the best in Montreal and their Kouign Amann easily compared to some of tbe good ones you can eat in Bretagne and northern France!

Sam Totah (montrealsam)

A nice tasteful discovery! It is a small tiny bakery and the good is almost fresh from the oven. Expect to be inside max.10 minutes. Hardly a place to sit and sip your coffee or drink. That is why people like to drop in and out. The bakeries are lined up right or left and the choice is easy. If you are on mount royal Avenue you are tempted to stop by. Excellent addition to the multi ethnic cuisine of the area. Bon appetit!

E G

The kouing amann is one of the best pastries I’ve ever eaten. A must visit.

Foodie Longueuil

If you have never tried Kouign Amann this is the place to give it a try. I am addicted to this delicious pastry. Just thinking about it makes me want to run and get some.

Ed On

Delicious bakery with limited seating

Linda P

Amazing pastry! Book your Kouign-amann before you go there! No walk-ins for Kouign-amann.

Allison Choquette

REALLY good pastries, fast and friendly service. These we’re perfectly flaky, not overly expensive, and super buttery.

Raymond Chen (dragonchef)

Best Kouign Amann I've had in North America. Lovely croissants as well.

Alexander LaRosa

Absolutely world class croissants. I've eaten them in every big a little, famous and unknown bakery you can think of and these are as good or better than any of them.

Ramy Majouji

Incredible pastries. Particularly fond of their croissants! Been coming here for years.

Rumsha Aqeel

Nothing should taste as good as the croissant this place produces. Sublime.

Anne

This is the best patisserie in all of montreal. The quiche is phenomenal, crispy, savory, and flavorful. The tartes are fruity and dense. The blueberry one is sweet and airy whilst the cranberry one is tart with a hint of almond. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and always excited to answer questions. A must stop if you're headed to the mountain.

Nancy J DeBona

I had never had their specialty , yummy , addictive ,filling and good especially when I saved a small bite for later , it saved the day ! Almond croissant was delicious but would have preferred it a little and more cooked

Duncan Waugh

Fantastic croissants and the kouign amann is indescribably good. Just go.

Desmond Engers

Must try little bakery, delicious food at a very reasonable price. The pastries are absolutely amazing. I recommend the kouign amann, very buttery! Keep in mind they are closed on the odd day or weekend during summer or winter during the holidays

Ashley Johnson

Kouign Amann is a must when in Montréal. Their kouign amann pastry is flaky and buttery. It is a must. Another great choice is their croissants, but specifically the croissant aux amande!

Melanie Supple

OMG, these pastries were amazing. Honesty better than the patisserie I visited every morning on my last trip to Paris (sorry France!). The quality and freshness was unmistakable. You can see the bakery in the back buzzing with happy activity. Try the Kouign Amann (the light brown circle cake); it’s a flaky, soft delicious sugar cake. We also had the almost croissant (the meal was INSANE), the chocolate croissant (dreams), the quiche Lorraine (warmed up yummy), apple pastry (filled with stewed apple paste), raisin pastry (plump golden raisins were unreal), and the cafe au lait. Had to roll myself out of there by the end but it was worth it!

Susan Walker

Best almond croissants in the world. Perfectly baked and assembled. Must try. :)

Ryan Ku

Friendly service and tasty treats

Mike Ambacher

Patisseries at a low price, quite tasty, average coffee

Kyle Garrity

A friend brought me here and wow those pastries are good

Catherine C

You must try the kouign aman. The croissants are out of this world as well. You will experience true bliss when u taste them!

Collin Strohbach

This place would be all the stars in the world if they could manage to keep their stock up to the level of the demand. Lately even on slow and rainy days they are out of basic items like croissants. When this happens it feels like a terrible start into the day :/

Tommy Godbold

Best Kouign-Amann I have had anywhere in the world. Amazing place amazing food.

Discovering Destinations

Their quiches are divine !! ——- Where: Plateau Mont Royal What: A small (very small) patisserie Au Kouign Amann How was it: Did we mention this place was small, ok just checking. We're saying that because you will know that space to sit will be limited. But if you do manage to get a table, grab it while it's hot. Their coffee is delicious, their jambon sandwich and their patisseries are all wonderful. Great little place. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend : A great find !

Catherine Luongo

Great croissants and kouign amann, very affordable, but not an ideal place if you want to sit down. Overall, would still recommend :)

Taras Rybak

Kouign Amann is one of the best desserts I've ever had. Breaks my heart when they run out.

Lilla Szilágyi

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! This little confectionery was my favorite one in Montreal, especially their cake named Kouign Amann is fantastic! Highly recommended to try out.

Ethan Flowers

Great music, great decor, great service, best cakes EVER!

Tessa Blanc

Delicious little Breton bakery in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal district where you can buy the famous, buttery, crunchy pastry: the Kouign-Aman. Everything is delicious. They don't have a great deal of variety, but their chocolatines are perfection, and they also serve truly French quiches and sandwiches.

Assia Alexandrova

Always warm Kouign Amann is on offer here! Super small place but cozy and with a nice little selection of fresh pastries.

Randy F.

Small bakery serving legit pastries including delicious croissants, their signature Kouign-Amann (by the slice), coffee and more. Tip: Order the Croque (with ham and cheese). Amazing! Credit card accepted over $5

TSM

Great tasting croissants and the Kouign Amman was amazing!

K Q

Best place in Montreal for baked goods, really good value.

Jared McRorie

The traditional bagel sandwich was phenomenal! Cool atmosphere as well.

Jessica Lau

The Kouign Amann was so good! Paired with the fresh raspberry juice, it was the perfect combo. The only reason for the 4 stars is because we came too late and almost everything was gone by then. They weren't even soon to close! Just wish I ordered two Kouign amann's before they sold out : (

The Nieh's

We did a taste comparison of butter, chocolate, and almond croissant with a boulangerie down the street. And hands down this place won! The croissant were freshly baked, warm, crispy on the outside, light, buttery and delicious.

Yasemin Erdoğan

Delicious pastries with great, affordable prices. Of course the Kouign Amann is the star of the show, but I also really enjoyed the croissants, almond croissants, and raison rolls. The milk rolls with chocolate were a little underwhelming though. Overall, my fave pastry shop.

Michael To

Small location but the pastries are delicious, and was recommended by a local-downtown. The brioche, quiche and specialties are full and gently sweet.

Bhumika Tandon

Have been to this cafe atleast three times now (in a span of one month), and I live every bit of it. Be the coffee, the croissants or the kouign amann (if you haven't tried Kouign Amann yet, you must then!!) everything is so super delicious! Plus the staff is so accommodating and friendly. I am just a beginner in French, and when I tried to say my order in whatever French I knew, they understood so well. For me this pretty, little warm cafe is 5+ ???? !! :)

Sebastian Saint

Delicious example of the traditional Kouign Amann pastry. If you haven't have Kouign Amann before, get ready for one of the best pastries ever! It is super flaky and buttery, and has the perfect amount of crispness and sweetness. It really is a perfection in pastry making. Do yourself a favour and come down to try one of these out, you won't be disappointed.

Sepideh

I can't remember the name of the piece of joy I ate but it was so good !! The only problem is that it's Cash-Only :-(

Guillaume Benoit

The Kouign-Amann is so tasty, I think it's my favorite pastry! I would go there only for this!

Anne Lee

Tiny & cute local bakery. The almond croissants are to die for

Susan Carbonaro

Pastry was out of this world, very small bakery with two small tables. Plan on taking your goodies elsewhere to consume.

Mさつき

Kouign Amann was great but not other pastries (croissants, pan au chocolate, etc).

Elle Elle

Loved all the pastries here! The best mushroom/spinach quiche ever! It was so tender & moist.

Chi Liao

The croissant and pastries here are amazing! My friend claims it to be the "best in Montreal". I've only tried this one shop so... no such claim from me but it was amazing and I would definitely visit again.

Sophie Forest

I once met a family from Texas who came all the way to Montreal to try the Kouign Amman. I think that is a reasonable distance to travel for these Kouign Amann. They sell out early to make sure to call ahead and reserve or go early! Their juice is also great.

Katsung Mak

I buy a whole Kouign Amman every time I'm in Montreal. Some of the best croissants I've had too.

Hayden A.

Their signature pastry, the Kouign Aman, is the best pastry I've eaten in Montreal. It's fantastic. So good, it can get sold out in minutes. To combat the demand, they are constantly making it and you'll often find yourself ordering one very fresh out of the oven, so it's warm and just the best

Andrea Robichaud

Kouign amann is probably the best pastry I’ve ever tried! They make great croissants, too.

Alexandre Limoges

We go there for the famous pastry. And nothing else, but that already a lot. It's absolutely delicious.

Amro Al Baali

Awesome bakery! Very good croissants and chocolatines. The kouign Amann is delicious as well.

Aravindan Balasubramanian

No Kouign Amman after 4 or 5 PM on a saturday (shop open until 6). Worst of all they had Kouign Amman in display and it was reserved for someone. But, hello! you should also cater the walk-ins, I can't be calling in all the time and reserve, its just a pastry for god sake, it happened to me twice, I know the pastries are fresh but you need to cater the loyal crowd who walks-in. Best pastry and divine taste. Two star only for the service and disappointment of missing out. I would not care normally, but your store's name is Kouign Amman and you should have it available until close.

Glenn Hauser

Small little shop that produces amazing pastries. The Kouign Amann was the best pastry I had ever eaten period . Slightly warm, moist, but with a slightly crunchy top and not too sweet. Mouth watering just describing it. I will visit again before leaving this area. Amazing.

Yy chen

Excellent Croissants( the best I’ve ever had), chocolatine is AMAZING, as well as the Quiche. I want to try everything whenever I visited. Fabulous French pastry.

Theo Blood

The almond croissants are exceptional and a great price. We were there when it wasn’t busy and could watch them making them from scratch. This is a must visit bakery in Montréal.

Katie M

Amazing croissants and quiches! We came here often for breakfast. This was the first time I tried kouign-amann and was hooked! My husband and I took a whole pie home so we could continue to enjoy this treat at home!

Cicilic Joseph

Omg melt in your mouth croissants!!!

Feroze Khan

Croissant croissant. Oh yeah get any flavor . Melt in your mouth croissant. Oh and get a cappuccino to go with it.

Jonathan Lee

Absolutely amazing. We got the kouign amann without knowing what it was, and since it was in the store name, of course we would try it. What followed was myself being close to tears as it was an amazing mouthful experience. We were really lucky since it cam right out of the oven, so it was still amazingly soft and warm in the middle. Very delicious, will definitely recommend!

Hadryan Orha

Had a chocolate croissant and a ham & cheese croissant. It was top notch ... all you taste is butter mmmmmm

Michael Carfagnini

Best kouign Amann (even great compared to reputed Dominique Ansel in Soho NY) and croissants are top.

Matthew Roig

This place is incredible. I was expecting a good croissant, what we got was quite possible the greatest thing I have ever tasted. I took the metro to this place 3 times in three days while visiting Montreal.

Fathima Afsal

Love kouign aman. Keep going back everytime

TB

Butter heaven, the Kouign Amann is something else and the croissants are tops in the city IMO and a great price too.

C Galli

A very small bakery which specializes in a pastry from Brittany. They also offer quiche, croissants, and a few little tartlettes. The food is excellent - exactly what you want in a breakfast. I got a slice of quiche, a slice of kouign amann, and a cafe au lait and everything was superb. I read in another review that the person had poor service, but my experiences here were great. My first visit they were very kind and helpful, even though I don't speak French at all. My second visit was just as pleasant. I also tried the croissants, and they were excellent. I can't think of a more pleasant breakfast in Montreal. Seating is VERY limited (3 little bistro tables), so you might have to take it to go, but the other cafe patrons were more than happy to make room.

I G

I loved the butter cake! I was lucky to get it right from the oven and OMG! Very delicious. I also got regular and almond croissants and they were awesome as well???????? I can’t wait to visit your store again ❤️

Katherine

Very good croissants! Worth the wait.

lili jiang

I often buy kouign amann and almonds croissants is very delicious

Stephen Barrigar

The regular croissants was great, the other things were just ok.

Qatalyste

My day is made when I come and there’s a warm batch of their delicious almond croissants fresh out of the oven!

mr zed

Best french pastries and croissants in the city.

Madeline Basem

Best croissant ever ????????????

m !

super friendly staff, delicious baked goods, really sad i didn’t try the apple pastry and the rest of the menu

Hang Nguyen

This place is the best! Their croissants and Kouign Aman are absolutely amazing!

Caleb Jang

I've never had kouign amann before. this was a life-changing experience. we came back and got a whole kouign amann after our first slice

Sarah Lamarche

Coffee and pastries were great. My first "kouign amann": won't be my last!

Sama Atiia

One of the best pastries in the city. The place is small so consider take away your pastry to a nearby parc.

Charles Myers

Finally found the perfect croissant in Montreal. (Actually the only good one I have found so far...) Flakey, slightly crispy exterior with soft, buttery inside. Chocolatine was the same, absolutely delicious. They also had fresh raspberry juice, and the chocolate torte/brownie was delicious.

Tim Kim

Great pastries, the almond croissant is addictive. Make sure to bring Canadian dollars, they charge double if you pay in $US, and no credit cards.

Serena Fisher

Great prices and everything is amazing. Don’t be afraid to try something new. The only hard part is catching them during their opening hours.

Leslie DSouza

Great pastries at great prices. Go for brunch and have the almond croissant, namesake cake and quiche. They have a mixed fruit drink and coffee is great (wish it was hotter). Yummy.

Minyoo Noh

Friendly service and amazing pastries. The kouign amann is a must try!

Trevor McGrath

Amazing pastries and fair prices. Croissants were light, fluffy and flaky, perfectly crispy on the bottom. The quiche had a great crust, full of ingredients and the egg was done just right. Moist not overdone at all.

Matt Martinez

This place is THE BEST. One sniff once you're inside is all you need to know: smells like heaven, tastes even better. Definitely get the namesake pastry, but also anything else made out of butter and flour (which, since it's a bakery, is a way of saying everything they make is delicious).

Minh Le

If you've never had a kougin amann, you should. It's simple with a nice sweet crunch and soft chewy center. The blueberry tartelette was well balanced and just perfect for a cup of tea. The croissant was ok as there are better in town.

Sarah Cahill

Delicious. The specialty pastry was fantastic. We also enjoyed coffee, juice, pain au chocolate, croissant; everything was delightful. There aren't many seats, but the shop is cozy. We lived the open kitchen!

Maria Lavelle

My favorite bakery in Montreal. Croissants that are heavenly and the kouign amann is out of this world!

Anto Beny

Ok croissant, a little on the oily side though and not that tasty, don't see the hype, metro fresh croissant tastes the same if not better

David Whiteside

Kouign amann are a type of Breton butter pastry from France, and this shop's specialty. I've had them in France, but this place makes the best I've ever tasted. I would travel to Montreal just to eat one.

Alanna Albert

One of the best bakeries for croissants. Their specialty is the kouign amann; A definite MUST. They only have a few tables so most take out.

Mousli Mbacké

Hands down the best croissant that I have ever tried. Also, they create such delectable kouign amann. They have a good selection of quiches which do not disappoint. 10/10 everytime I go

Cyra Baria

Loved the sugar butter cake speciality koingaman..and the quiches we're good too . excellent coffee

Giovanni Garucho

The kouign-amann from here is the best pasty I've ever had in my life. The almond croissants are very delicious too

Louis G

The best Kouign Amann in the city. Excellent, friendly service. Call ahead to order your whole KA. Quiches and viennoiseries are also outstanding. Love this place.

Me Lee

Lovely service, decadent kouign amann and delicious pains au chocolats

Teele R

Amazing kouign amann pastry. I’m not even a big fan of pastries but this literally blows my mind.

Nashaiy Rayan

I should start by saying that I am quite a picky croissant eater. I try croissants in every city I go to, searching out the best bakeries. This is by far the best croissant I’ve had. The bakery itself is small with barely any seating and if you’re looking for the typical large bakery with dozens of dessert choices, this is not for you. They make their croissants, their name sake the kouign amann, and a few other baked goods. I’ve only tried the croissants and the kouign amann and both are exquisite. The price also can’t be beat, I believe it’s around $1.50 for a croissant! I wouldn’t particularly recommend the espresso based drinks but I wasn’t expecting a specialty bakery to have the best espresso either. If you are someone who wants a flakey, buttery, mouthwatering croissant or a rich, sweet, delicious kouign amann, definitely stop by here, you will not be disappointed.

Khash A.

Stopped by here for some parties and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered their croissants and they were perfectly made, perfect crisp, not too buttery/greasy, perfect glaze on top. I wanted to Kouing Amann, but I think we need to order that ahead of time. Call and place an order before heading here if you want to try their specialty.

Jessica Liske

The ham and cheese croissant is AMAZING!!!! They finish it on the press and top it with béchamel sauce. For $3.50 you cannot go wrong. Can't wait to come back.

Zoe Gagnon

Amazing ! my favourite place in Montreal for pastries. Their Kouign Amann and Tartellete au Sucre are true pieces of art !

Marie-Ève Baron

I would put 6 stars if only I could! A description of that pastery would not spark any excitment. My friend had to litteraly force me into the idea of going...than I tasted it...and felt sorry for all the years wasted in the ignorance of its existance. Since that day, I'm catching up as fast as possible :D (ho, and the cheese and spinach quiche, the home made juice and everything I tried so far is delicious too.)

Maddie Madds

One of the best in all of Montreal. Their croissants are very good. I love the kouign amann my favourite Breton pastry.

Nicole Bellm

It is so delicious but they run out of Kouign amann early in the day unless you call ahead to reserve some.

Daysprung

Absolutely wonderful. Not a huge selection but what they make is perfection. Only three small tables so seating can be hit or miss but I was able to get a seat both times I went.

Victoire K

Not a lot of place to sit, but very worth it! Amazing pastries and coffee, for cheap. One of my favourite places in Montreal!

Miz Z

The most buttery pastry i have ever had in my life. Couldn't finish this one slice alone!

D Lynn

Awesome! Worth the trip for sure. We tried a few of the pastries but the almond was incredible...! Shop is nice, only 3 tables and there was none open at 8am so that plan to takeaway. We will be back

Nathalie Tran

One of my favorite bakeries in Montreal!

k (AstroKat)

So amazing. Best almond croissant I've ever had.

Nisha G

I came this past Friday, got their butter croissant and butter cake, absolutely delicious! Cant wait to come back!

Sara

If you haven’t heard of this place, you’re definitely missing out! Grab a piece of kouign amann, heck, take a whole pie for 25$ and make your friends and family taste a piece of heaven!

Daniela Zirizzotti

The kouign amann is fantastic. Truly the best dessert ever. People are obsessed with the crack pie from Milk Bar but this is far, far, faaaaaaaar more addicting than that. This is the real crack pie.

Amr Elmasry

Visited the bakery today, croissant is good but not wow, pain au chocolat and apple pie were both very nice.

Danny Frank

100% genuine French provincial coffee and bake shop . This place has a small but outstanding selection of French provincial baked goods and quiches .

TZC

The pastries here are unbelievable! Always delicious, fresh and inexpensive for their generous portions.

Lola Ianovski

A lovely small bakery, famous for its kouign amann cake and croissants. Be prepared to wait in a bit of a line as this place has quite a following, plus plan to take out since getting a table is unlikely with only 3 available. The kouign amann cake was very nice but we didn’t feel it quite lived up to the extensive hype about it, and I have tasted (one) better in New Zealand of all places. That said, if you are in the vicinity and have a sweet craving, this shop is well worth checking out.

Domenico Farinaccio

Simply amazing croissants!

John Pham

Warm, buttery, light and delightful: that's how I would describe the pastries here. I was greeted pleasantly and the service was quick. The croissant here was far more delicious than anything I have ever tasted in New York City. My family and I got here right after it opened at 7:00am and we had no trouble finding a seat for the three of us. My wife enjoyed her coffee from here as well. I would definitely recommend this bakery.

Mark Stevens

Absolutely everything about this place is incredible! The almond croissant literaly brought tears to my wife's eyes when she bit into it's crusty shell. The Quiches are amazing, coffee is the best I had in Montreal and the plain croissants are to die for. I would consider moving to Monreal just so I could live the rest of my short life clogging my arteries with their delicious buttery treats. X

Alice Zhao

So delicious. Go there. Go now. Buy a whole kouign amann to enjoy with friends (or to eat by yourself!)

Eric Douay

Good French pastry place with yummy regional specialty from western France. Limited seating place. More of a grab and go!

Thomas Graff

Great bakery with an amazing speciality. Wish they had more locations and would come to the U.S.

Cedrick Burcena

I first discovered this in Ottawa and was skeptical that Montreal's would be able to match it. I'm glad I was wrong. It is just as delicious and still a life changing experience. Absolutely worth to get the big Kouing Amann.

Kyle Gorman

Incredible patisserie. Try the Kouign Amann (an buttery cake) and the croissant jambon fromage. Also decent espresso drinks. The morning clientele appear to all be friends and bring their puppies by.

Chantal Bailey

We have been getting our croissants here for over 15 years. It never disappoints!

FirstName LastName

Croissants are absolutely delicious. The Kouign Amman dough is sometimes a bit chewy and not that melty/buttery.

Ali Khosousi
