REVIEWS OF Guillaume IN Montreal

Alana Smith

Amazing! So many different types of bread. I also ordered an Americano today was simple but hit the spot as I enjoyed my eclair. Will definitely return. They have day old bread in the center of the small interior. There's no place to sit and they encourage you to keep it moving.

Jackie Moore

got a wide assortment of amazingness - the cheese croissant was a highlight for me, really a perfect food item. The goat cheese and mushroom pizza bread was amazing as well, and incredible value for the amount of cheesy goodness.

Robson Lin

Amazing bakery in Montreal! Great selection, and staff! If you love San Francisco style sourdough, levain au froment, is very very close to it ???? I like their logo ????

Vineet Ranawade

One of the best bakeries in town, be there before noon to taste it fresh and see the whole spread otherwise you might miss on many items. Their Gallets are must try but especially I liked their Champignon Vanille et Chocolat brioche which is really amazing. I also tried their Almond n date muffins which were good too. Must visit place!

Aron Solomon

I just don’t understand the hype about Guillaume. I’ve visited three times and the first time waited in a pretty massive line because I heard it was so great. It’s a below average Montreal bakery with most of their items commercial and fairly tasteless. @ me if you like, but I think it’s one of the most ordinary bakeries this amazing city has to offer. How they’re always full and now even expanding eludes me.

Giselle L

Super friendly staff, some of whom spoke English. The pastries and bread were really good and the shop was super cool looking! Would come here again!

Jack Yang

One of the best bakeries in town. The champignons were great and looked like one too. ???? The cheese croissant was definitely the best I’ve had and I even had to come back again the next day for another one. Pro tip when eating it is to chew it for longer so the savouriness from the cheese blends into the butteriness of the croissant. ????

Rob Phillips

To each their own, but how do people think this is a quality croissant? It made us think it was from Costco. Maybe you could get away with this in some American city, but even then I've had much better. It's shameful. Maybe it was good some time long ago, but nothing about this tastes good or is well prepared. You'd have better luck with those croissants straight out of a can. Please, please go back to the basics.

Zee Jeremic

Love everything in this bakery! Favorite fig and cheese / chocolate orange pastries!

We visited Guillaume over the weekend & had their Beetroot & Turmeric buns each! The staff are lovely & kept their cool even though it was busy. ???????? The buns are freshly made and totally yummy and highly recommended. We'll be back to try out the rest of their stuff soon. Instagram: @zaraexplores

Pros: - A lovely assortment of various breads and treats, many of them delicious! - Nice interior, and it's cool to see the staff working on the products at other times. - Most of the staff seem to be quite pleasant most of the time Cons: - A sometimes overwhelming variety with ingredients written in tiny fine print, making it stressful to choose what you want in busy times (though at least they print their ingredients) - In the past, certain staff made me feel like I was lucky to be served by them, and buying from the store -- I prefer a more equal interaction. I think this has mostly been corrected however. - They won't slice your bread. I think this is a fancy French-inspired thing that seems rather silly to me. I would buy more of their bread if they did. - I never really get a chance to see the patisseries to the right of the cash, as there is generally much pressure to order far to the left, and patisseries are kind of hidden and poorly-advertised if you will

Caitlin Smith

So many amazing varieties of breads - it’s always difficult to choose just one!

Vu Ha

My favourite bakery in Montreal, the croissants are buttery & flakey and their breads are all the reasons why you love carbs.

Jay Jeong

Fresh, tasty and affordable. Guillaume is the definition of what a neighborhood bakery should be.

Sarah R

This is now a weekly staple, I'm afraid I've become addicted now that the weather is good. You really can't go wrong with any selection, but I strongly recommend the galettes, olive fougasse, and tartlette choco-canneberge (plz have this available year-round thx). The staff are always awesome, friendly, and helpful. I hardly have to write a review as this place speaks for itself.

Lex

Immediately loved this place. The system works! Get in line, pick your bread, move down the line and pay! So smooth and fast. The bread was amazing. We stocked up to bring home. The chocolate croissants are the best I've ever had. Would definitely go back.

Giorgio Russo

Just go there, Amazing! Whatever you try is going to be a great choice. The staff is beyond lovely.

T “FULSE” A

I like what they are offering. Service is a little slow tho. (You'll usually see the staff on their phone while serving you.) But they are very friendly.

Zankhana Patel

You have to visit this place before noon as they run out from all their stocks in the evening and you'll not have more options to buy. The best sourdough bread in the town, if you are looking for bread and you don't know how to make them at home (like me) you must visit this amazing place. Staff was very helpful.

Dorthy Bruce

Awesome service, food is yum and portioned well according to the price.

Bachene Adel

Love the place, it would be great to check product availability online though

Mišenka Andruid

That was without a doubt the best brioche (???? champignon) I ever had. Period :) (just wish I took a photo before I stuffed my face with it ????

Ray L

Very good bakery. French croissants galore!

Rozmeen Halani-Hooda

The croissants were amazing! My latte was absolutely cold which is why I didn't give 5/5. The lineup outside the balery is what made me come to this place and so glad I did.

Sabine Leunens

The cheese and potatoe bread sooooo good. I put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 300 then spread a bit of butter. So good

Ricardo Rezk

The staff was busy, which gave impression of high turnover, which in turn gave the idea of freshness, and that is good! The variety of breads and pastries was good and interesting. I asked for a crumpet with maple and boston creme because it had creme overflowing. Shockingly it was thrown in a paper bag and handed it to me. When I looked inside it was a mess. After walking a block, the bag started to leak due to the moisture of the creme. I was afraid it would break open, thus I proceeded to eat it. What a mess. My hands got all dirty but the worst part was that part of the delicious cream stayed in the bag. Ugh. I’ll probably go back to try a drier pastry and see. Packaging is important, that’s why I’ll give this bakery just three stars.

Glen E. Grant

Everything you every needed in a bread lines their wall of bins display. Great helpful staff and no bad choice to be had. Enjoyable open outdoor space also provides comfort zone to never having to wait too long to sip your favourite beverage or bite into your purchase delight.

Karen Raharizonina

Great place for great bread. Good selection and fresh. The dough is soft and not chewy at all. They do not cut your bread on site tho. Bring your own bag too. They just put your bread in a paper to avoid grabbing it with your bare hands

Doris Hidalgo

Have been here before and bread was pretty good but this weekend I got two croissants and it was possibly the worst croissants I’ve had. It was almost like a bun or a brioche in the shape of a croissant. Giving 3 stars because we got champignons and other things that were good.

Baptiste N.

I really wanted to love the place, but two things got me to make it 3 stars: - the quality of the pastries was not of the excellence I had in mind (I had the tribe Elisabeth, the blue cheese and nuts and the tamari sunflower seed bread) and they were all too dry and not as good as can be (Maybe my standards are too high, but they are what they are !) - no cutting the bread... Except for that ut is a very nice and modern looking place. Advice to them ? Reduce the amount of times (soooo many) and increase the quality. Maybe I came on a bad day, pastries and bread have a certain randomness.. honest review though !

Edwin C

Nice pain au levain or sourdough baguette.

Sami Alajaji

A french bakery in the full sense of the word. Delich breads, baguette, croissant and baking goods of all sorts. There is a usual line up here as it is justifiably popular.

Vanessa L

Really friendly staff who provided tasty recos! Not overly expensive. Loved all of the three pastries pictured - a chocolate baguette, a cheese and fig baguette, and a cheese and chive bun.

Jerome Harfouche

A truly excellent bakery. So much variety in the bread and croissant selection, the sandwiches and desserts are also delicious. Never tried anything I didn't like.

Alex

Probably my favourite place on the Plateau for breads and viennoiseries. Try their croissant, cheese bread and white chocolate mushrooms.

Hiền Tuấn Hà (Henry Ha)

Very nice bakery to check out, lots of options for both savory and sweet tooth. Staffs are very nice and friendly. If you don't know what to choose, just ask them for suggestions.

Giovanna Chavez

Delicious breads! I literally tried like 15 kinds... There is no sitting area but there is a stand-in bar in case the weather is inclement and you want to savour your purchases in site. They also sell coffee, chocolate... Very nice stop!

smallwang

Nice place and the food is really awesome. For a person who enjoys carbohydrates, it will be a paradise

Ade

Their options are limited but that wont get you disappointed. They have the best muffins in Canada. You gotta go and try it and will understand what all the hype is about.

Amy Yang

Friendly service, great selection of bread. Recommended item: white chocolate brioche (champignon chocolat et vanille). The reason for four stars instead of five is their baguette - it did not have a fresh and crispy crust when I received it and tasted just average.

Amal A

Anything there with almond go for it. The best almond pastery I found so far

Kamran Tavakoli

A piece of Europe right here in Little Italy. Their variety of breads is out of this world.

Karina Aldape

One of the best boulangeries in Montreal. I'm not a huge sugar fan and this place caught me with their amazing flavours, I even ate a whole chocolate brownie and I'm sure I'll be back for another one soon.

Samuel Freeman

Best bakery in Montreal no question. White chocolate champignons are the classic. Also the fesse patate cheddar (potato cheese bread) and olive fougasse are unforgettable.

francois jullien

I tried this bakery for a first time today through Uber eats. Croissants and bred are ok, but the price doesn’t match with the taste. So I am disappointed and would order somewhere that does better for cheaper.

Yesmine Boukhili

Very fast and good service. They have a great selection of breads and viennoiseries. Everything is fresh from the day. Their ''Brioche Champignon Chocolat Blanc et Vanille'' is to die for.

Ameet Lal

So many great breads, but the white chocolate 'mushroom' muffin-thing-a-ma-jiggy is the greatest thing to have with coffee, ever. Warning: highly addictive :)

Laura Cardenas

In Montreal, one of my top 3 bakeries. Quality of product is delightful, service always friendly, freshness guaranteed.

Circo9

Very nice place. They have a variety of sweet and savoury breads and pastries. Their croissant, cinnamon twirl and caramel apple pastry are delicious!

Ali Hajebrahimi

I bought two Croissant and one bread there. I think Costco's are better. About bread, the taste was not that bad but, after one day it turned to a stone.

Jonathon Chen

Champignon bread is a must try. Tasty pastries.

Shom T

Good selection, reasonable price, friendly staffs.

Marc-André Belleau

Wonderfully & Freshly baked treats of all kind, salty or sweet! You can order online now! (Doordash/UberEat/Phone)! I used to go there everyday since they were next to my workplace but I can now enjoy their fresh "Mushroom" brioche in the comfort of my home now!

Sam Totah (montrealsam)

Interesting bakery! Good choice! Short line up! Very attractive back stage public court! Plenty of birds. Be ready to share! A nice stop over! Repeat often if you like bread & variety!

Charles Tatossian

All their products are above expectations except for their croissants. Good job!

Rebecca J

My favourite bakery in the world :) I encourage everyone I know to stop here when in MTL- great service, good music and setting, convenient location.

Won C.

A friend recommended this place to us for our Montreal visit, and we didn't regret taking her recommendation. Guillaume had wide selection of freshly baked bread and pastries when we visited, and they were priced very reasonably. We especially enjoyed their baguette :-) Very nice neighborhood bakery.

Louise

Butter croissants are not my favorite but the cheese croissant and english muffin are awesome. Coffee is my personal favorite in the area! Prices are okay, but they don't have a machine to slice your fresh loaf of bread. The staff is very kind, and they always accept my reusable bag!

Catherine C

High quality diverse selection of pastries from sweet to savoury, buns, sourdoughs, and other breads.

Bianca Hutanu

Great variety of pastries and breads to choose from. I took quite a few pastries to try them out with a friend and we were disappointed by none! They were are very flavourful and had a good fluffy texture. The prices are also very good for the quality and the staff knew exactly what to recommend according to our taste, very friendly and considerate!

Cristina Andrada

Absolutely delicious!!!! We tried the cheese croissant as well as the sunflower bread and they both were very tasty! The croissant is not very heavy (which is perfect) and the sunflower bread is full of sunflowers seeds inside. Would definitely go back :)

JOJO

their croissants are awesome!

Tulip Tu

Great place for Instagram photos. But the flavour of the bread is not so good. The croissant is not fresh at all!! Their signature potato cheese bread is a dough of salt!

Jesse Plessis

I eat very limited carbs now, but I used to be fun and when I was fun I enjoyed this place a lot. My fiancé still goes a few times a week and flaunts the beautiful loaves all over our kitchen. I still enjoy the bread, just only with my eyes now.

justin eisele

One of my favorite bakeries of all time. (I even bought a t shirt!) Their baguettes are perfect and the make this brioche vanilla whites chocolate roll thing that will blow your mind. Fantastic croissants too. If you get a chance to try their bread pudding muffins you must. Very friendly and located in a cool neighborhood.

Trang N.

It was our favorite place to get Fougasse - we tried to go whenever we were nearby. Quality has recently gone down the hill. Couldn’t understand how they were even able to put this hard-as-a-rock, clearly looked burnt Fougasse on the shelf for selling. We opened it, saw it was super burnt, went back immediately to ask for at least an exchange - apparently their policy is that once its in your hand, you are responsible (although you havent got the chance to look at it - at least with all the pixi glass for covid safety, nor did they ask you to choose which specific one you wanted). We tried eating it cuz we spent money on it - hence the picture, but gave up after and threw it out. This was not the first time the bread came out dry/slightly overcooked, but it wasn’t this hard and burnt before. The one star went to their good old days, but then I guess after this we gave up trying to go there.

Rebecca S

Best bread in the city. The herb and salt ciabatta is the best thing I've ate in my entire life. no cap. A must see spot for Montreal tourists and locals alike

di liello tony

Enourmous selection of sour dough bread, favorites lodeve, fesse cheddar pomme de terre, fougasse, tres carre and many more

Marjolaine G

I love this bakery! They label all their products which is extremely thoughtful for vegans or people with intolerances. Vegan options: English muffin, sunflower seed and tamari braided bread, sweet vegan bite, vegan tofu sandwich and a variety of breads. The service is really fast and the store is lovely to look at. The bread is of course delicious and there are so many options available. There is an outdoor sitting space which is nice during the summer. Love this place and always stop by when I walk by (it smells so delicious that you can’t help it)! Wish there were more vegan options when it comes to their grab and go area (there is a sandwich and vegan energy bites).

Lawrence Colsell

One of my favourite bakeries in Montréal - highlights include the fougasse - ail confit & fromage, herbes de Provence or olives - all 3 are great // and the pain aux fesses with potatoes are stand out items. But their bread and viennoiseries are excellent too. Love how they sell their slightly older product at reduced price instead of chucking it out ????????????

L K

Staff was really rude, he/she was not even look at us when we talked.

Emily Bremner

Best bakery in the hood! Try the pizzas and raspberry chocolate croissants…yum!

Aravindan Balasubramanian

Very good pastries, galettes (goat cheese and mushroom is ny fave), Choco Vanille Champignons and their artisanale breads is a Weekend must have.

Vik Gandhi

First time at Guillaume and was pleasantly surprised. Great pastries and they were really fresh. Some pastries had more filling than others so that was the only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars. Staff was really pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back!

Franca Mileto

A dream land for all pasty lovers and takes a great pic as well. A must see for anyone visiting our great city for great food.

Khalil N

My favorite bakery in Montréal. I like their improvement during the years. The last one was to accept credit cards...

Guru

Best bakery of Montreal, anything you eat from this place is going to be a memorable eat for you guaranteed! One must try chocolate pudding, pizza and their hummus sandwich is just amazing! And, Angerie is such a fab person, simply exceptional customer service, thanks to her for such warm assistance ????????

TGO

Great selection of breads and pastries. Reminds me somewhat of bakeries in Germany, oddly enough. The sandwiches are a bit of a hidden gem. Really excellent quality.

Minh Le

I only tried their sweet pastries: touchon orange-chocolate, croissant and the signature champiognon (brioche) vanilla-white chocolate. The croissant was incredibly dry and did not have the flaky layers I was expecting. The brioche was also dry and tough. Lastly, the touchon appears to be the same dough as croissant... dry. I would not recommend the sweet pastries there. A really nice industrial feel of the bakery.

Zachary Bettan

I absolutely love everything about this place. It's an amazing spot located in the heart of Mile End on St Laurent street. You can smell the fresh f bread being made daily from a block away. Everything there is done wjth lots of love and passion. First time I walked into this place was pre covid and the atmosphere was electric, beautiful design and everyone who was there was pretty much a long time customer from far and wide, the bread is just that good here! I went back last week and the vibe was no different, minus the electric part but that's only cuz we can be like 5 at a time in there but still a lime of 20+ people waiting to get fresh bread, baked good and delicious homemade meals!

Michelle Lee

It was really nice to visit this bakery shop. The staff was very in accommodating and recommending the breads and pastries for me! All of the four items I got were delicious, but the white chocolate mushroom looking pastry was too sweet for me. I would visit this place again!

1944290 Ontario

Have been to this Bakery numerous times and is one of the best in the world that I've been to. Quality and freshness is amazing and the selection is so great it's almost overwhelming. If you're in Montreal it's mandatory that you visit this wonderful Bakery. Try the "bum cheeks" bread called Pain de Fesse filled with potatoes and cheddar

Angela H

Another bakery on the must visit list! This is the place for ????. They we so flaky, airy, buttery, and just a taste of heaven in your mouth! We also got some other pastries as well - champignon coco & vanille and mini chocolate croissant.

Fran Allen

Delicious breads and pastries! Large selection to choose from. It's a must see kind of place when you visit Montreal.

Sharon Yaakov

SO TASTY! My husband and I came here for something small to eat for breakfast, ended up buying more than we wanted! Would definitely recommend the mushroom-shaped white chocolate brioche, as well as the mushroom galette with mozzarella and goat cheese!

Maxime Dubé

This place is a real gem , VERY unique bread recipes , awesome pastries , coffee is very good and also their lunch options are soooo good !! Staff is friendly and the service is awesome , a MUST stop if you are in the neighborhood!!

ANTONIO IOANNONI

Delicious croissants, sweet breads and all kinds of bread. Coffee is very good too (I get the flat white latte). Nice vibe and very friendly staff. One of my favourite places to grab a coffee and a treat. When weather permits, nice little sitting area adjacent to enjoy a few minutes of peace and bliss right on the main.

Mr Licorne

This is the place to go for bread. The boulangerie supplies many restaurants throughout Montreal. Definitely a must try but go early as their goodies will sell out by end of day. Recommend trying their fig bread, brioche champignon. cheese and oregano bread

ft reader

Stumbled upon this place when we were walking around looking for breakfast one morning. I’m glad we did. This place is amazing. It has amazing bread, pastries and sweet breads. Would recommend it to anyone in the area. Service is also fantastic (service in Montreal is generally really good).

Maestro Ilook

I had a high expectation when I went there. However I was quickly very disappointed when I tasted what I bought (boston creme pie, three sorts of brioches and a baguette). Results : no flavor, a taste of bread. It not a question of mixing ingredients and selling the products. Check the balance of all the ingredients together. Ask customers and see the reviews. I confirm each review insisting on the absence of flavor. Montreal knows about viennoiseries and we know what’s good or average, but sorry this bakery is below average. Let’s see how they will improve their recipes.
