From my past experience, some stuff like the donuts and bread here are typically really fresh and tasty. I ordered a black forest cake for my father's birthday thinking it was going to be equally as good; however this was not the case and I was really disappointed. Though the cake itself looked presentable, the "cream" kind of just tasted like cool whip. Also the cake part itself tasted like a betty crocker chocolate cake mix. For this reason, if I were ordering a black forest cake, I might as well just buy it from Walmart instead of paying almost $40 for it :(

I usually go to Lazar for the pastries and desserts. Even though the selection changes each day, whatever I end up getting is always very tasty and satisfying! They sell fresh coffee so it's also great going with a friend for a coffee and treat! Yum!

They also have a little sitting area to enjoy your choice of caffeinated drinks. The staff are friendly and knowledge. I think it's worth a visit to try their Portuguese custard if nothing else.

Pastries are usually good. When I tried to order a custom cake for a baby shower.. I got passed on to 3 people. Then finally when they were getting the design,.the person was refusing to understand the design. I think I described ombre in so many different ways. I even showed pictures. So I didn't end up getting a cake.

So we placed order for this cake a day before mybirthday and they did an amazing job. My husband went to so many bakeries but on entering Lazar bakery there was a smell of fresh pastries and delicacies that he knew this place wont let him down. We had a tiramisu cake and the girl at the store was super helpful in suggesting the size and accomdating to take in our ideas too. Amazing place and defo visitn again for anniversary! ♥️♥️

Great place to get some baked goods along with some unique grocery items. Prices are a bit high but well worth it for the value they provide. The cafe portion of the place is presented as a side attraction while the deli and bakery represent the main attraction of the store. Not much place to sit but the baked goods are professional grade and taste fresh and delicious! I recommend the sandwiches!

Good tasting desserts affordably priced with a wide selection. Staff is very friendly. I tried the cannoli (good flavour but a bit too sweet) and rice pudding. I would definitely try some of their other pastries next time I'm in the area. There's also a comfortable patio out front exclusively for Lazar customers - although it does extend right into the parking lot.

They have variety of baked items right from cakes, pastries, cookies, buns etc. This place is always crowded. Have tried the tiramisu cake from here, not the best I have had until now. Taste was okish. They also make veg cake, but only by preorder. Haven't tried anything else from their menu yet, hopefully my opinion might change after that. Until then it's an average cake so 3/5 for me.

This place is amazing. The bakery is really nice inside and the staff is nice too. All of their desserts look like they taste great and you can tell that they make everything in-house. My girlfriend and I ordered their standard cheesecake and their chocolate brownie cheesecake. I would have thought that their chocolate brownie one would taste better but their original one was sooo good, I was surprised pleasantly. We ate inside and he atmosphere was nice too. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes cheesecake.

However, being in quarantine- we've been ordering different breads, cheeses and sandwich meats though Skip the Dishes. Amazingly fresh and high quality, super impressed. I live just across the street and it is so hard to stay away from this place ???? When I do give in, it’s only desserts from here. One can never go wrong with their Portuguese egg tarts, they are delicious! Tried their brownie cookie, it was crunchy on the outside and still moist inside, so good. So I placed order for my anniversary with Ferrero rocher flavoured cake and I was in for a big disappointment. The cake tasted like it was two days old and had plain sponge cake inside with barely any cream. It tasted nothing to the expectation we had from our previous experience with their delicious tiramisu cake. I always thought this is the place I could go to without any apprehension. You are no longer my favourite or go to place anymore!

I have been coming to Lazar bakery for the last 10 years, and let me tell you, there is no better place to get artisanal breads and baked goods in Mississauga! My fondest memories of Lazar are when I would wake up early on Sunday and pick up loaves of freshly cut bread and their signature egg tarts and surprise my family with these goodies. Lazar’s cakes are extremely well designed and are one of the best I’ve ever tasted when coupled with their freshly brewed coffees! Aside from the food, Lazar Bakery is one of those special places where there is a sense of community. Every time I have gone in to buy something, I have always seen friendly faces laughing and having a great time over cups of coffee. It is clear that Lazar’s owners and staff are not only dedicated to producing great foods, but also instilling a sense of community through great service and meaningful connections with their customers. Lazar’s really knocks it out of the park with their reasonable pricing (relative to other artisanal baked goods, not budget breads from grocery stores). I highly recommend everyone to visit Lazar Bakery and support another landmark local Mississauga business!

I come here pretty often to buy their sliced deli. They have a huge variety or deli ranging from beef, chicken and pork. They also have a lot of options for cheese. You are also able to order deli sandwiches. They are made to your liking. You can add whatever you like to them such as lettuce, cheese and etc. The bakery also has fresh bread and cakes. Their strawberry cheesecakes are really good. So are their egg tarts, a little too sweet but still very tasty.

I came here yesterday and we ordered cold sandwiches and cafe lattes. I enjoyed the sandwiches as they were freshly prepared and the lattes were just right. They have a patio where you can enjoy al fresco dining. The customer service was excellent and so was the food. I've about a km away and couldn't believe that I missed out on this place after living all these years here. A hidden gem that shouldn't be missed. 5 stars all the way.

Nice little bake shop, excellent coffee as well. They have an ample selection of pastries, cakes and bread, also a full deli in three back. Could give five stars, but I'm inclined to deduct a star for lackluster service and poor attitude. Nonetheless, I'll keep coming as the coffee is great and I don't come here to schmooze the staff anyway.

I complained to the owner about a person going to opposite side of. Counter to avoid the lineup. The owner sees him and told the girl to serve him. When I approached her she said she didn’t do that and just kept repeating “I can’t do this anymore “ I’m a loud voice to attract attention. Well guess what I won’t do this anymore never going back.I could have asked the worker but didn’t want to put her on the spot. My favourite bakery in Mississauga. Always crowded during the day. Their mini cheesecakes and Portuguese mini custard cakes are awesome. Also their pound cakes are delicious, recently tried their coconut flavor and tasted great. Have other varieties too like ready meals, fresh baked bread, cold meats, cheeses and olives. Worth checking out when hanging out in 'sauga.

Have gone a few times after moving in the area. The location is not too far from the heart of downtown Mississauga and is conveniently located close to the middle of the plaza. I have gone pre and during covid. The bakery is quite large with indoor seating and a patio. There is a cheese and meat counter, a bread and sweets section and the walls contain misc items such as candles, bagged cookies, pasta, etc. You can even buy lotto tickets. Bakery, sweets and deli are all pretty good. I just wished everyone was more cheery and greeted customers! Most of the time I can't tell if I was allowed to talk or I simply couldn't hear what they were saying behind the counter.

We went to this place on the great reviews. The place was packed and super busy. I bought a sausage "croissant" and a netuella "croissant". Neither of these things were croissants as they were devoid of butter and over baked. As the picture shows the croissants were actually dinner rolls that look appealing from the outside. The sausage was actually just a hot dog and the dough was sweet when it should have been savory. Unfortunately I won't be returning.

I cannot believe that I have missed writing a review for this place. I have only one word for this place - AMAZING!!!! They have the best cheesecakes I have had (except for Cheecake Factory & D'Arcy's Kitchen). I have been getting cheesecakes/cakes/Macaron/bakery items from this place since 2016! I have had custom cakes built from here which were equally amazing! They do not serve Vegan Cakes. The staff is amazing, just ensure that you speak clearly and slowly. The store is super versatile, has loads of options. Starting from many types of cakes, cheesecakes, pastries, various kinds of breads, pickles, traditional Portuguese spices and items, meat, deli items and many more. They also used to keep infused water at the bistro but due to COVID they don't serve it any longer. Speaking about COVID, they have taken extreme measures for everyone's safety which is great! Recently they have started serving items outside the store. They have 6 tables out there to enjoy the amazing items from the store out in the great weather these days. Kudos to the team and amazing chefs for the great quality of desserts!!!

Have been in this area for a year and always wanted to visit this bakery. Today was the day! Such an unnoticeable bakery from the outside but once inside it's beautiful and felt like entering a magical dessert land! The aromas of fresh bread and pastries welcome you. There are a huge variety of cakes and pastries and freshly baked breads. There is a hot food bar, grocery section with many European items. Racks of freshly baked croissants, tarts and natas. They have a little bar section for serving coffee and snacks with a sit down area as well. The meat section was large and they had a tone of variety there as well. We got a couple of natas, croissants and cakes to go and all of them were soooooo good! Was bummed that I was in a rush because I patiently wanted to explore every corner of this beautiful bakery. Will definitely be coming back to try a bunch their stuff!

5 Star Americano. However, please stop labelling your buns as croissants!!! That imposter of a croissant has never felt a drop of butter.....is that a Portuguese croissant? I bought a tiramisu cake which was looking pretty and it was also my wife's bday. The cake was tasty and I ate most of it as I love tiramisu.???? would like to try few more options during my next visit to this place.

I bought a cake for a birthday. We cut into to the cake to realize it was the wrong cake. When I bought this cake I asked them a few times if it was the correct cake, they assured me it was. Even though we were disappointed, we decided to give the cake a try since it was late and we didn't have a choice. The cake was horrible, it had a horrible bitter taste to it, my guest threw it out and I managed to save almost half of the cake. I called the next day and spoke with two different people and they were very rude, they say they can't do anything about it. They told me to call the next day and speak with a manager, I put the rest of cake in a container. I called the manager the next day and she was very nice and helpful, she told me to come in...later I went into the store with the receipt and rest of cake. Manager again was very apologetic and really wanted to help. She spoke to the owner in a different language, the owner was an older man, who didn't seem pleasant at all. Basically, the cake had to returned in full for them to even consider doing anything about it. The cake was the dessert for this Birthday, and what a disappointment it was. I am not asking for a full refund...This is not good customer service or a good policy, this is not how you treat customers. I would not recommend anyone ordering cakes from this place. We have been loyal customers of this bakery for many years and we are very very disappointed with this service. If anyone wants to order cake, please check out online, you will find many bakers doing business from home..please support those small business, as it seems Lazar bakery doesn't care about customers at all.

How embarassing was it to see the birthday girl cut her cake and take a bite only to realize how hard and stale the whole thing was. First time visiting after ordering through skipthedishes a few times. My partner loves his making sandwhiches with the deli meat and fresh buns and always gets the massive donuts! The 5 star review is also to point out that they cater to all as I am currently on a grain free lifestyle diet. This place is always great for afternoon coffee with dessert, or for takeout. This time we got the strawberry coffee cake and it tasted as described. Great because there was a lot of fruit, not too much cream and not too sweet like many grocery store sourced cakes. The only down side is that the cake itself is a bit dry and not soft and fluffy as others. On the other hand, the Portuguese custard tart has a very smooth and creamy filling, with a very crispy and flaky shell.

The buns are very good. A good selection of cold cuts. The service is good, but sometimes a bit slow 'cus they get busy and there are not enough people behind the counter. The hot food is good at lunch time but later in the day it gets dry. The short espresso is very good if you get the right person to make it. If the owner is there as him to make it. He knows, how to make a good one.

Really great selection. Clearly listed that sanitizer and gloves to be worn when handling doughnuts and pastries yet a woman did not wear gloves and was sticking her hands in the trays of pastry WITH an employee standing right there helping her and said NOTHING! I told the woman to wear gloves as she tried getting pieces from the tray and she said she used sanitizer and walked away. I called the employee who helped her and she walked away and only when the cash attendant was friendly was when we cashed out. Customer service is not high on the list and we will wait a while before returning due to this. Overall experience was manageable on our own.

Have been here few times. Slowly becoming regular. As said before, I like the homey feeling of this place. I also like the variety of baked goods and food. It seems to me they make their food and baked products from scratch, which is good. To me, knowing what types of ingredients used in products is very important. Does not have to be organic. But a few evil of ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil are a no no. I will probably get to know about ingredients but for now I like this place. One annoying thing: minimum purchase limit in debit and credit charge.

I LoveThis Bakery! Great selection of Portuguese baked treats, with my top fave being the Bolas de Berlim. For those not familiar with the name, these are deep fried doughnuts made with leavened dough and rolled in granulated sugar when done. I attached a photo of one of these killer doughnuts after I got it home! It is really great to be able to find all that great baked stuff that you normally do not find. They have fresh baked Portuguese bread. OHHHH WOW! That stuff is amazing. At Christmas time they have the traditional Bolo dos Reis, so if your energy failed and you cannot face making your own, just pop by the Lazar and pick one up. I don't have any photos from Lazar but am including a photo of my home made Bolo Dos Reis. Their lunch take-out counter is great. Always has a delightful; selection of tasty offerings, including deep fried cod snacks. Since Covid, I have avoided this type of store and I really miss going there.

Great place for cakes, bread and deli! They offer a variety of different cakes and other baked goods. You can purchase single slices of cake or whole cakes. You can also order custom cakes but it requires you to order in advance. I usually get the strawberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake or the brownies. I also get their Portuguese egg/custard tarts; they are absolutely delicious but on the sweeter side. The crust is crispy and the custard is sweet and soft. As for the deli, the deli here is relatively cheaper than the ones you buy packaged. The deli is nicely separated into layers which makes it easier to make sandwiches later. Deli cutting service is sometimes slow as there are many people ordering. They also have fresh bread you can buy or you can ask them to make you sandwiches. Definitely reccomended as thier cakes are delicious.

Very bad experience. I got a black forest cake and the jelly and cherries were sour. When I called them, the lady said that you can come back and get money back or another cake. I asked her if I have to come back today or later is fine. She said that as long as you have the receipt, Its fine and you can come back whenever. Therefore, I went back to them next week. The lady at reception was the owner. I explained her my conversation with the lady on call. The owner was very very rude. she said, we can't give you money back or another cake. You have to bring the original cake back. I said, the lady on called didn't ask me to bring the cake back. I already threw the cake. But the owner kept saying in a very rude way that if we keep giving 30 dollar back to everyone then how will I run my business. I asked her that ok, can you check my phone conversation with the lady on call. But she said, we don't have recordings (which I don't believe). Inshort, this is the first time I have seen a rude shop keeper in Canada. Unlike Canadian norms, the owner seemed not interested in keeping their loyal customers. I felt very insulted and I wasted my time going there. Never going to get anything from this bakery due to poor and non-professional customer service.

This is my first time ordering a cake in Lazar. I was instantly greeted by a baker while I was browsing the cakes, which I appreciated ???? I requested a specialty cake and later the lady named Samia came to fill up the forms. She was very kind and answered all my questions about cake ordering, and made the process much easier than expected. I left the store feeling content. Edit: apologies for the blurry pic but the cake was AMAZING! I ordered a red velvet specialty cheesecake. The cake just melts in your mouth instantly and has the perfect amount of sweetness ????. They open early at 6:00AM and I was here today around 6:30AM and the place was already buzzing with activity. They had a full array of baked goods readily available and the deli section was already busy. People were enjoying a home made breakfast on the patio while sipping an espresso. Now doesn't that feel normal again....yes...normal.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feb 6th 2021: I swung by again today to get some fresh croissants and some deli meat because I was going to grab some bubble tea at The Alley right next door anyways. Two birds with one stone. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This bakery has been around for a long time in Mississauga and they are quite popular as shown by their legions of loyal and repeat customers. Myself included. I really do enjoy their selection of fresh baked breads. That is my attraction for coming here. The selection of desserts are staggering. But I find some them to be a tad overly sweet. But still good mind you. I do made time to visit whenever I am in the area to buy plenty of fresh bread. I freeze them at home and they taste amazing when I defrost them and toast them up. It tastes so fresh !!! Kudos to them. Went in the morning and the display of pastries was almost empty. I bought a chocolate and vanilla cake as well as a pistachio Canoli it tasted old and stale, I wanted to go back and have the owner taste it and ask her if it lived up to her standards. The coffee was cold because it’s per-made, the cups are big enough and does not justify the price. This place when it first opened up was beautiful, tasty, and fresh, since then it’s been all downhill and now after my last experience will definitely not be going back at all.

We used to love this bakery until today. We usually go to Lazar most of the time to buy cakes and pastries, and we even promoted it to our friends and families.. But unforunately today will be the last day that we'll be buying from them.. My mom went today to buy a cake for a family member's birthday, the lady at the cake area asked her to go to the cashier as she will bring the cake there. There's one customer before my mom at the cashier area, so while waiting in line my mom just went to the front to check the cake to make sure the name is correct and everything for just a second. When she was about to go back to where she was since the one that the cashier was checking out is still not done, she disrespect and yell at my mom to go at the back of the line, and repeated it for 1-3 times, didn't even listen to what my mom's gotta say. The lady at the cashier has such terrible customer service and also racist!! Then there's this manager, instead of apologizing or atleast show (even fake) sympathy, she was just kept on and on saying that some of their workers have asian husband/wife.. then when we went to our relative's house not even an hour from the store, this is how the cake looked like when we opened it.

Go-to bakery for fresh baked sweets & bread. We love their croissants, donuts, and fried chicken patties at the hot table (with ketchup)! Cheesecake is quite rich, I never liked them with gelatin on top. My favourite doughnut is the cinnamon sugar although the chocolate dipped is also delicious because they use real chocolate!! Also they’re huge & fluffy! Portuguese tarts are good too of course, it’s best warm. We usually skip the display case and go for baked pastries. Their Portuguese bread buns are delicious and affordable. We use them for meatball sandwiches at home and it’s perfect

Went into shop there one day and asked for a bag to carry my goods. I have a disability and didnt have my Walker with me that day. I was using my cane. They refused me, so I left and I havnt been back since. They arent the only shop in town. Above and beyond isnt part of their customer service. I just dont like being treated poorly. If you want a sandwich, this is the place to go, you will find a much better option then subway, I honestly don't know why they put a subway near by, if you want baked goods, it's very meh. I bought the Tiramisu , by the time I walked home it tasted like a wet rag. I have not had a desert here yet that has made me think, "man I need to come back here for this". I come for the sandwiches. It's kind of sad really, I don't think they can change anything if it's no good, they seem to get what they get. Maybe They need to change vendors.

We decided to visit Lazar bakery after reading great reviews. Our daughter had received her first award at school and we wanted to celebrate with baked delicacies. So we drove almost 15 minutes to Lazar only to be little disappointed ????. I was expecting far more variation...may be it was too much expectations. Anyways, it has all those options that we could have easily got in our nearby bakery. Now about the stuff we ordered..We ordered a variety of things... macaroons of all flavours, cherry cheesecake, croissant ???? ..blueberry cake, cream filled unicorn horn (thats how my daughter describes it) and few tarts. Macaroons were really good and so was thr cheesecake. BUT rest of the stuff..☹️. Unicorn horn crust wasn’t flaky at all. Blueberry cake wasn’t fresh and I have had better croissants at Sobeys!! So it was a total waste driving to the famous Lazar!

Their sandwiches are everything! It really depends on who makes it though. Very rarely do they get my sandwich right the way I asked for it but never the less it tastes good and fresh. The staff are really friendly there, there's a lady with short blonde hair and an eastern European accent, wish I got her name, but she had great customer service. The staff always looks so busy so it was nice for her to take the time to talk to us.

I came across an extremely rude cashier.. she ignored me and took the customer before me without asking and she also was talking very rudely.. as she started cashing me she made rude remarks and slammed my items in the bag.. Why does no one smile or greet customers at this place? Why do all the young women look miserable? If you saw our body language you'd think I work there and provided better service than the people that work there. Whenever I come, they seem more interested with finishing what they are doing before taking care of customers that are standing right in front of them. Is this customer service? Extremely rude woman at cash. As soon as I entered, she yelled at me to put on gloves and that I was entering the store the wrong way. I was quite taken aback by the intensity of her anger and rudeness. Upon cashing out - she didn’t smile, didn’t make any eye contact and didn’t speak a word. No ‘hi’ ‘$14 please’ ‘thank you.’ No acknowledgement even after I paid and said thank you. I will not be returning. The food and service at Nova Bakery nearby is much better.

I attended Lazar bakery to purchase some bread for my 86 year old mother and my family on April 17th, 2021. My mother lives alone and I am concerned about my giving her Covid during this lockdown given the new variants. I was waiting in line to purchase some bread while a man and his wife were putting in his order. The man came within a foot of me and so I moved out of the way and said nothing. He then did it a second time, again closely approaching me. I had to move out of his way again but said nothing to him. This all happened right in front of the employee. When it came time to be served I mentioned to the employee who had watched what had happened that she should tell customers to stay 6 feet away from each other. She responded that she wasn't going to do that because customers would get angry and said you tell him. A woman who identified herself as the owner then got angry at me for speaking up. I placed my bread on the counter and left the store. I felt very unsafe and concerned about the wellbeing of my elderly mother whom I am one of the primary care givers for. As a long time customer, I was very disappointed that Lazar would not advice the man to comply with the rule of staying 6 feet away from other customers. As a result, despite being a long time customer, I will not step foot in Lazar again. -Maria

I googled the best tiramisu in Peel. You guys came up..so we came down there on the Saturday....I can understand things are different now....limits on customers entering etc...how many allowed....but one thing there should be any limits on. Customer Service. I am in a Customer Service business myself. It IS demanded from us in our profession....i.e., The person holding or allowing folks in at the door...not even a good morning...a good day....the bakers helping us....we get the mask thing...but we CAN hear you when you say HELLO or GOOD DAY....the cashiers...even worse. No appreciation for a customer spending $65 at your store...the FIRST visit...miserable. Greetings would be good. Not treating folks like mechanical robots....good you folks and your business is busy. Many other have lost theirs. Us coming back there and spending my money there? What for. Horrible attitudes. I have been coming here for 15 years. While I will still continue to visit this bakery (as there is nothing else better in Mississauga. As Mississauga is literally the worst city in the world for food), I have to give some feedback because its time. Their customer service has really feel off. Originally, I used to be greeted by everyone at every station. The cash, the kitchen, and the deli. Now, its a different story. Haven't heard a hello from anyone in several years, the women here except for one (old lady who floats) really have a serious attitude. Even the owner, who used to act like a real darling has really become hostile. Came in today, and noticed they now require plastic gloves to use tongs for the desserts. I am not consenting to this as I do not know if those gloves are bpa, parabens or silicon free. The logic is amazing. You get yelled at for not wearing gloves, meanwhile there is no plastic covering or acrylic shielding preventing anyone from breathing, sneezing or coughing on the carts. It's hilarious, the ignorance, idiocy and free people in this city, this province and this country have. Witnessed a fellow patron get attacked by the owner and honestly. I'm looking for an alternative place as I am sick of the weak energy. There are better places hopefully, and if not, I'll just goto Woodbridge/Vaughan for my food. Warning. If you're Italian, do not bother with their cannoli's. It's not even good enough for the rats

Hello. Since I can't get you by the email that is posted on your website I am unfortunately posting this here. I ordered a cake for pick up on Sunday for Monday afternoon and that was explained that it was for the afternoon. The happy Birthday message was to be on a plate in a separate box so I can apply my self. When we opened the box the chocolate plate was on the cake and completely melted all over the strawberries. I asked for no Ferraro rocher but there was one on the cake. The actual cake itself tasted bitter instead of lemony and I was very disappointed in it and it was not nice at all. I've gotten cakes and other baked goods from your company before and they've been lovely with this one was exceptionally horrible and embarrassing for my out of town guest celebrating her 40th birthday!! I have attached a picture of the cake itself so that you can see the name plate. I'm so disappointed and I hope that this is not a regular occurrence, sadly I won't be buying a cake from Lazar again. I thought you should know what the end product looked like. Thank you .

I'm not a reviewer - this is my first review ever as I don't usually feel compelled to write. However - my experience with Lazar cannot go unannounced! My fiance and I have been coming to this bakery for the past 6-months or so. Ever since the very beginning, the staff has been phenomenally friendly and welcoming. There is always plenty of staff to serve and we've never waited long to either get our deli meats, pastries or espresso. We are always greeted when we walk in. The bakery itself is very clean, nicely organized. Lots of goodies on their shelves! There's an abundance or meats and cheeses at their deli counter and their breads are always fresh! At the pastry counter, try their walnut tarts and giant cinnamon buns - you won't regret it - they are so delicious!! The owner is a wonderful woman and truly goes above and beyond to ensure that customers are happy. Even so far as to remember our names, which blew me away! Absolutely love this bakery. Food is always fresh, bread is so good and pastries are delicious. Staff are friendly and always helpful. We have ordered cakes several times from Lazar and we have never been disappointed! The bakery is always well maintained and clean. Francesca and Joe are always so gracious and always go above and beyond for their customers. By far the best bakery I have ever been to!

Awesome selection of meats and cheeses. They even have a hot food section which is delicious they are not over priced. They have some of the best desserts that you can get. The staff is always friendly and sometimes if you alot they might give you a little discount. Ive been going there since highschool and will continue going. Usually places in time dont uphold the quality of their deli meats and their customer service. But this place goes over and beyond that.

One star for one simple customer service reason. Small place should always remember that customer, especially local old client is always right. I bought a simple cake for my kids' birthday- the kind he likes. It turned out to have a bunch of paper right in the middle of it. Imagine- you cut cake and the knife gets tangled in paper in the middle of a cake. Normal reaction- this cake is not good. I take it back next morning explaining to person in charge (manager was off as it was Sunday I assume) that it is wrong. She explains back that it is ok- that in baking process paper from the base rises with dough. I get it. But result anyways is paper in the middle of a bloody cake. I can't eat such cake- can other people? I say- I can't eat now, it looks disgusting. Asked for money back- as simply for a bad product- the answer is no. It had to be done differently- return unhappy unhappy customer, old local customer, the bloody money or offer replacement and tell the bakers to change the paper thing- any cake with papers in the middle sucks and it's not like they are only place baking in the neighborhood. No- fine, see ya. Got exactly same thing at the Metro a minute away for exactly same price and had proper service. I didn't even hear a simple "I am sorry", instead I was painted as an idiot who doesn't realize that paper in a cake is absolutely fine. Let them eat it. Thank you.

I'll put an honest review. I came from Scarborough only after reading so many great reviews about their cheesecakes. I can say people don't have any taste! I ordered a strawberry cheesecake, it was mediocre! I just liked the base (graham crackers), the cream cheese was too sour and the Gelatin layer was very thin, I barely taste it. Defentely going to try other flavors someday, but for now, I'm quite disappointed. The good part is the price and it's Halal. Otherwise, I would suggest going to Sanremo Bakery in Etobicoke but unfortunately they are not halal. They have a wide range of cheesecakes, a little bit expensive but cheaper than The Cheesecake Factory and other bakeries out there.

I have been going to this bakery for about 11 years and have loved getting their cakes for birthdays, housewarmings, anniversaries, etc. I have loved their pastries and such as well. My experience with their store manager? Not so great. When it came to my wedding cake, Lazar Bakery was on top of my list. I first visited however the manager was not in store and I got her contact information. I was looking for a buttercream cake for my summer wedding for about 200 people. Upon calling, I told Francesca that I wanted a buttercream cake, her reaction was unprofessional and she said "buttercream cake in the summer? Not even interested". Other bakeries were able to confirm that buttercream cakes in the summer were no big issue. Even if buttercream cakes for Lazar were an issue, Francesca could have been more professional and courteous and provided alternatives. She said she could ask the baker and get back to me and when I asked when I can follow-up and she responded saying she was gonna be busy for the next little while since shes going on vacation. Again, she could have provided a date or offered to call back and expedited the situation. Was very surprised to experience such low level of professionalism from Francesca who surprisingly is in charge of handling such a large bakery I lucky enough to have enough bakeries offer to provide me my dream wedding cake.

I went to pick up a quick dessert based on the good reviews here. I bought two eclairs, nothing fancy, but expected at least average quality. They were terrible. Old, stale and dried out. I'm sure even Metro or Superstore would've been a better choice. I would've also picked up some bread but I didn't like how they were laid out uncovered and so close to the aisles, with people rubbing them as they walk through the narrow aisles in full winter gear. I'm not sure I would return to give them a second chance. There is also something fishy about all these reviews - there are way too many reviews compared to nearby businesses, and some of them are identical!

We tried a few bakeries which were good, but customer service is a failure. The cashier was grumpy and uninterested and even though she saw us taking our bakeries on plates, which clearly means we’ll dine in, she didn’t ask us for a proof of vaccinations. A bit later, a rude staff member came to inquire whether someone saw our proof of vaccinations. We told her no one did so she asked to see it and didn’t even thank us for showing it to her. We wanted to buy coffee drinks but decided not to buy any more from this unwelcoming place so just hurriedly ate our bakeries and took our business elsewhere.

I order my daughter's sweet 16 cake from lazar bakery. The person who took the order did not understand my order they mess up the order. Cake taste was good. But it didn't look like the picture at all. I order high cake. They make normal size 8 inch cake. Totally not worth it. Over priced.

Great food friendly staff and everything is freshly baked! A must try item on the menu is the expresso shot which is as smooth as cream. If it were up to me I would go there every day and try a new item every time. They also have a hot food section of you are feeling like having a hot meal. Definitely recommend.

We've been a Sunday regular at this place for a couple of months now for we love their food! While most of the staff is very cordial and helpful, UNFORTUNATELY, more than a couple of times, we have come across this very rude woman cashier. Don't know if/why she keeps having a bad day, but she passes it on to her customers! She cribs and throws off moods while bagging purchases. I never write reviews, but we were totally put off by her behaviour today. Hopefully the owner makes note of it through these reviews and trains her better.

I ordered a fresh fruit cake and what i got was only 6-7 pieces of canned fruit in cake. The taste of cake was horrible and it tasted more like chemical. The colors of the cake was not as oer request and the colors were too strong that it was bot coming off my fingers easily. Just imagine this cake was for kids and how it would tasted to them.

I requested a custom letter cake and it looked nice but it did not taste very good. I gave them an image as reference for the look and flavours but I did not feel it necessary to also request that the cake also taste good (it’s a given!). The filling in between the cake had a very hard chocolate middle that was hard to eat and cut into. The sweetness from a typical and basic chocolate and cake was not there even though I’ve bought their cakes plenty of times before. Perhaps custom cakes are not their thing.

Fantastic service and even better pastries! My favourite bread is the calabrese, I think it is the most popular. The female owner was super kind and attentive, such a sweetheart! This place is my goto place for cakes in Mississauga. The have the best, hands down, strawberry shortcake ever. The sponge part of the cake taste really good and has a nice consistency and the cream is not too sweet. They also make a mean Oreo cake and strawberry cheese cake. Lots of other kinds of treats as well like canolis and Portuguese egg tarts. They have some nice hot food in the back that I've yet to try but looks really good.

Highly recommend. Excellent pastries! Great variety. The cannolis and Portuguese custard tarts are excellent. People come from all over to buy their custard tarts. Their fried cod croquettes are great. There is a great deli section, an extensive bread section, a hot table, and section to buy their fresh pizza dough and pizza toppings. Their coffee is terrific. The owners are wonderful...always friendly and helpful.

3 strikes and you’re out. Had the best pumpkin pie 2.5 years ago. Last year it was the worst. Filling tasted terrible/pastry was hard and thick. Have had the cheese cake slices and they are great so I bought a whole cheesecake for my mom’s birthday. More than half of it was graham crackers. I complained and received a gift certificate (service and people are great). I used the gift certificate and RESERVED a strawberry cake for Christmas Eve and some custard tarts (these are great). When I went in to pick it up at the time I specified, it was only to find out THEY GAVE AWAY MY CAKE!!! They said I could pick any other cake (I was NOT HAPPY because I didn’t want another cake.) I did not look at the cake until Christmas Day—I opened it to slice after Christmas dinner only to find mould on the strawberries. I will never buy another cake from here...if I ever go back. Mortifying and embarrassing when I told everyone how great the pastries usually are.

when i walked in, the management was so beyond rude. not only to me but to the employee who was trying to help me. she went out of her way to ensure i was taken care of when she rudely got yelled at by fellow coworkers, i believe her name was rida or rim I'm not too sure. She was also being yelled at by managers. based on this experience, i can only imagine the way the management treats their employees behind closed doors. do not recommend this place. caldense bakery or brazil bakery are better.
