I lived in Mississauga for 17 years and never knew about La Sem until last week. I usually do my espresso rounds across Toronto, Mississauga, and Barrie. Their espresso is probably the best I’ve had in years. Very high quality. Some staff members are super friendly and others are sour-faced to customers. Not sure why, maybe the expectation is for clients to place a big order or something, although they are open to the public. In any case, most private businesses are missing the people skills necessary to retain customers and keep their business healthy and wealthy. It’s not just about the product or awards, but being friendly and opening a small conversation goes along way. Not being hospitable is almost like shooting yourself in the foot over and over and expecting to walk normal.

Usually this bakery is great, BUT when an Italian bakery cannot make an authentic Tiramisu cake, patrons need to know!! The tiramisu cake was awful!! Tasted like rum and cream. There were no lady fingers, no mascarpone cream (a regular cream filling was used...think Black Forest) , nor were any layers of the cake visible or tasty. The rich sweetness of a traditional Tiramisu was offset by mouthfuls of cream and chocolate shavings. Very disappointing for a tiramisu lover and La Sem bakery

When La Sem was located on Finch/Keele. They did my wedding cake, showers, baptisms and birthday cakes for 15 years. I missed their cakes and pastries and when they left, I thought that I would never know quality such as theirs. Today, a whole bunch of us were talking about quality Italian cakes and I bragged about my experience and how I miss this experience and their customer service. Someone went on the computer and there it was. If you have never tried their cakes/pastries, you have to because no one can compare quality and service. The flaky cakes are so moist and flaky. Their different types of flavoured Italian creams are unbelievable. Their sponge cakes are so moist. The best part is eating them the next day. I am glad that I found you...

La Sem did our Wedding Cake a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. We asked for them to use real cream for icing instead of the sugary stuff and it was perfect. The cake itself was moist and delicious, I highly recommend the hazelnut flavour which is amazing. Thank you La Sem for making such a beautiful cake for us.

Great pastry shop. Their cakes are delicious. We get their eggless cakes for our vegetarian family and they have been such a hit, considering how most eggless cakes are dry and tasteless, this one is simply delicious. We tried a variety of their pastries and cookies and they were all amazing. The baked goods - burekas and spinach and cheese pastries were delightful as well! They do a lot of wedding cakes and have a beautiful display in store as well.

I ordered my wedding cake from them. It was supposed to be delivered to our venue before we even got there. When I arrived, the wedding cake was not there. I called La Sem and they said they don't have the order. After about an hour of being placed on a continuous hold and having to call back and forth, they finally located the order. They made the cake and delivered it to the venue (which was close by) within a few hours. However, when I called management the following week to complain, I was completely disrespected. I wasn't allowed to speak with the manager, only the manager's wife. She completely down-played the situation and didn't take me seriously. They said the best they can do is give me store credit, after being very clear that I will never shop there again, she finally agreed to give me some money back. When she told me to come in the following day to meet with the manager, he was not in the store. There was a 'break' in the communication and she happened to tell the employee working there something else. They caused me a great amount of stress on my wedding day and refused to acknowledge their mistake. The management is terribly unprofessional, and I will never recommend this bakery.

One of the best place to get your cakes for any occasion. I have been getting my cakes for years now and I know if you try their cake you will be coming back again and again. They make many different kinds of cakes, very well decorated and if you want to put any pictures they can do that for extra charge. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have other baking goodies like macaroons, pies, etc.

My wife and I stopped in for a coffee and pasties while our truck was in service at Peterbilt dealership next door. 2 star because I ordered same day and they accommodated. I sent them a picture of a cake they said they could do it. Very simple one logo on it. When they sent me a picture of it done they used icing and it looked very messy. No phone call or anything. Asked for block letters got cursive. Cake looked very childish and was for an adult, uneven sides and messy looking. Definitely not worth the $70+ dollars. When I spoke to the owner she would cut me off and wouldn't let me get a word in, I'd start saying a word and she would go off with excuses and saying the baker went home! Did not offer any discount or apology. Said the letters can be scraped off but the red would not be the same and the cake would probably look worse in the end. Horrible customer service. Will not order here again.

We ordered a cake for our employee's birthday. It was a chocolate mouse cake. The cake taste so pathetic. The sponge was like dipped in water and its cream tasted so bad and was frozen. When I called the shop to complain they said that that is how it is suppose to be. Over all it ruined our employee's day and was a very bad experience for us. We were having more than 15 people eating that cake and not even a single person liked its taste.

My quest for the perfect store-bought tiramisu in Mississauga is finally over. At $6 for the piece, it's not inexpensive, but if you eat the whole thing in one sitting then you're not health conscious. This one is large enough for 3, so I consider it good value. Unlike others, this one has sufficient espresso and a good marscapone-to-cream ratio, and an ideal amount of sweetness. This will be my go-to from now on. Also bought were the new raspberry coconut, and lemon squares. Both were tasty and not overly sweet. At this point La Sem is my favourite bakery for desserts. It's the first time I've bought a tiramisu that can compare with the house-made ones from fine restaurants.

Walking into La Sem, I can see why they are voted the best bakery in Mississauga. From the moment I walked in I could tell the bakery took pride in their pastries, from seeing the many awards they have won over the years, to the beautiful pastries, each with their own signature look. For my birthday, my fiance surprised me with a Cheesecake she bought at this bakery. I live in Atlanta, Ga and not from Canada, so when it comes to flavor, I'm used to a different type of New York Style Cheesecake than what I tasted at this bakery. I came into the bakery the next day and explained my concern. I was greeted by a wonderful employee by the name of Maria. She was calm, kind, very professional and took the time to listen to me. She reassured me I would hear from her later on that day. Later that night Maria spoke to the owner and called me back with a more than fair resolution. I want to say thank you to the owner and Maria for going above and beyond, Maria definitely deserves a raise. I highly recommend La Sem bakery and will do business with them in the future.

Got our wedding cake from here. It was excellent.They were very helpful in the selection process, generous with sampling, and followed through on a beautiful (and tasty) wedding cake + easy delivery. All my guests complimented the two flavours I selected (vanilla with chocolate cream, and a second hazlenut cream layer). They also helped me make good selections based on the weather (hot summer day) and the venue. I do however feel that their website is so dated. They need a fresh Instagram and webpage photos that have better lighting to do their creations justice. I've been shopping for a new special occasions cake and so much of the competition have slick pages that are tempting me away from what I know is a reliable, tasty place.

We ordered Fruitcake (eggless sponge) for my Son's birthday. We asked them to put one Mango Layer and one Pineapple Layer. And the cake should be moistened and not too sweet. They did the amazing job. It was fresh and so light in eating. Everybody liked it and in fact some of them enquired about the bakery. Moreover the staff is really good, will patiently listen to you and even help you in recommending the item as per your need.

This 5 star review is only based on they gelato and mini desserts. I have never tried their cakes or anything else here. I absolutely love their gelatos. So many flavours to choose from and they’re all so good. My favourite is hazelnut which is like a Ferrero Rocher flavoured ice cream. I also love their mini cheesecakes and cannolis. I am eat those all day!

First time visiting as I was in the area and hosting friends so thought I would visit here and Irene's Bakery to get an assortment. I bought cannenoli dessert from both and the one from La Sam was spoiled. I am used to real fresh tasting cannenoli. After gagging and spitting it out I called the store to let them know and was told thank you, they would look into it and they hung up. No offer to replace the product once they freshly restock. Bought a few other cake pieces they as well were not fresh. Thankfully I had an assortment from Irene's across the street. Everything was fresh and tasty and cannenoli was fresh and authentic.

Had to change my 5 star review to 1. I’ve been a long time customer and suddenly they’re charging more money for sfoglia cakes if fruit is on the inside vs cream. I will be going to Irene’s Celebriry Cakes as I found even their pastries are amazingly priced whereas at La Sem it’s like $3 per pastry. Quality has deteriorated and prices have only increased for no greater value. Good bye La Sem, WAS nice knowing you.

Bought few cakes from this bakery for birthdays for my kids and relatives, always yummy and unique. Last week bought a cake for the wife, worried something wasnt gone be right since it was a special order with complicated decoration three cake layers. Turned out to be the best cake I ever had!

Wow has this place gone downhill. Years ago it was our go-to place for special occasion cakes and now I will never purchase from here again. It's clear that La Sem is run by new owners as they have cheaper ingredients and poor quality over all. So sad. You should be ashamed ripping off customers the way you do

Unfortunately I had a negative experience as a walk-in customer. This review is specific to their "available for purchase" cakes and pastries. I have not had their made-to -order cakes. I called the store to see if they had either black Forrest or strawberry shortcake available and if they were made with fresh cream opposed to butter cream. The lady checked and confirmed yes. Since they close at 6 and i made the all around 5:15, i made my way through rush hour traffic on Eglinton to get there. I made it to the store and a very pleasant lady served me. I asked for the black Forrest cake. She showed it to me.. It has a sheen and smoothness that you don't see with fresh whipping cream. I asked again if the cake was made with fresh cream.. She assured me it was. I asked for the small and they had individual cakes and pastries and mouse cakes also so i purchased about 12-15 of those as a back up to the cake. Once home, we opened the cake and tried the icing from a corner to check. This was NO anywhere close to fresh cream not even butter cream. It was a completely synthetic tasting covering. It was inedible. We then started to put the back up pastries on the platter. ALL OF THEM were extremely stale to the touch. the cake parts were hard and dry ad the mouse parts were the consistency of marshmellow split in half ( tacky inside). We had to throw all out and make a run to Longos for back up. My advise to the owners - if you don't have lots of walk in customers - do not offer products off the shelf. Do not sell stale and borderline spoiled products. It will leave your walk in customers with a negative impression and they will not consider you as a vendor for any events.

Gone are the days when this patisserie used to produce quality pastries. The quality of their ingredients has deteriorated and their pastries taste terrible. There is no other way to put it. I bought what I thought was a rum ball only to discover that it tasted like anything but food. It had a very strange aftertaste that probably had something to do with the preservatives in their ingredients. The other pastries had a rubbery consistence and were tasteless. Again, I am comparing what I bought the other day with the products they used to make a while back. I am convinced that they switched to lower quality ingredients. This time they tasted so bad I thought they had added some sort of chemical ingredient, which alarmed me, and I promised myself I'd go back and talk to the manager about it.

This is by far the best place to get all of your cakes and sweets! Maria is the nicest woman ever and tries her hardest to go above and beyond to give you exactly what you need and when you need it by. The prices are fair and the quality is spectacular! I have been ordering cakes here for more than 10 years and will not go elsewhere! Maria, thank you and your team for everything!

Years ago, I could honestly say this place was amazing, the pastries to die for and the service very helpful. Unfortunately these days it is the exact opposite. I ordered my wedding cake, paid way over $800.00 and expected a fabulous looking, great tasting master piece. What I got was a chocolate and fondant disaster, with wrong colours and pieces falling off. All but one small piece, that my husband and I cut and barely swallowed, went in the trash.

We have tried many of La Sem's products over the years they are very delicious. Last month we ordered a cake that was the best that we had for a long time. So, planning to keep ordering cakes from La Sem years to come because they are the Best!
