Swirls has always been my summer vibe. The staff are friendly, the ice cream is amazing, and I love that they're not open all year. Swirls opening is just another reason to enjoy the warm weather.

In the summer when you want a good cup or cone of an ice cream product this is the place to be. I would recommend their chocolate milkshake. They are a cash only place, as such I would recommend that you bring cash with you as the atm doesn’t always work.

Huge portions ... Most people would say this is a good thing, but the reality is that they're too big! Anything larger than a 'small' becomes prohibitively difficult to consume before it melts all over the place! But look, the flavours are great, the prices are about what you'd expect, and they're pretty quick. The only other negative has to do with the seating situation: other patrons can be messy and sometimes belligerent, and it would be unfair to coerce the young people who prepare the desserts into some kind of etiquette police. Oh, and since people are messy (with oversized cones), it attracts wasps and other bugs. So if they could magically control the unruly people, reduce the portion sizes, and eradicate the wasps, they could earn that 5th star from me.

First time to this "establishment" in The Hat. Great ice cream, a good variety of flavours that isn't overwhelming and fresh waffle cones. A perfect night in our scorching summers!

Went for the first time today. The waffle cones are the best I've ever had. Our little one loved the swirl soft serve, especially how chocolaty the chocolate side was. Not sure who they use for their hard ice cream but I had the Bubblegum and hubby had tiger and both were amazing.

This is my favourite ice cream shop. It has a huge menu and even when the lines are long, it’s not a long wait to get some delicious ice cream. I’ve tried several items and never been disappointed. The staff is friendly, the food is good. Easy to see why so many people come here in the summer.

One of the most over rated places in town IMO. Ice cream is nothing special even though it’s over priced. Take cash only but have an ATM attached to the building so it’s just a cash grab.

Swirls is an iconic Medicine Hat treasure. They have the best ice cream and novelties in town with a plethora of unique offerings. My tastes are simple and my go to item is a White Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake. It is worth the wait in-line. However, remember to bring cash or you'll be at the "mercy" ;-) of the ATM machine around the right hand side towards the back of the building with which I've never had an issue. They even have a small soft ice cream for your hot pooch to help them cool off.

Milkshakes were decent, really only place to grab an cream. I believe the ice cream is from Foothills Creamery. Near that they had a cash line and a debit line. I liked at first the ATM machine, then kinda got the sketchy card skimming vibe from it. Lots of choices to pick from ice cream wise. Loved this place. We went to a playground nearby and their ice cream was the perfect treat on our way home. We asked for a bunch of small hard icecream cones and they had two big scoops each! And the price totally worth it. I totally recommend brownie chocolate flavor, that the one I had and it was great :). PS. You can pay cash or debit.

The ONLY reason I'm not putting in a 5 star rating for this classic - must - go - each - summer ice cream stop is because they really need a smaller option than just the "small" arctic swirls. Sometimes I want one but can't justify the waste since I can only ever get through half a small without it melting and getting to that "okay thats too much ice cream moment."

This place is by far the best to get ice cream and other cold treats. The price of whatever you get is worth it. 100% it closes when it's winter season and usually open again around March/April.

Locally owned and operated, Swirls has been a fixture in my life since moving to Canada in the early 90s! I remember coming here as a child and staring at the flavours trying to make up my mind. All these years later, and I still can't ever decide exactly what I want until they ask for your order, and I blurt out something so fast it's like my inner child is ordering! I love the strawberry shortcake! It comes with a giant piece of cake, and always leaves me satisfied! A must try!

Their milkshakes are disappointing. You can't choose the hard ice cream flavors for the milkshakes, so I'm pretty sure they're soft ice cream with flavoured syrup.

This is the ice cream seller that the Hat raves about! Folk line up around the block to sample the fare at Swirls. It's just ice cream though. Admittedly there are a veritable plethora of flavours in both hard and soft ice creams. But, as I alluded to earlier, when all is said and done, it's still just ice cream.

Swirl's is a staple of Medicine Hat, an original. Who wouldn't want that good, delicious ice cream made from real cream? It's the best!! Only complaint is that it takes a long time to get through the line up. Longer than it used to. There was one girl that used to work there that was phenomenal. She was fast, friendly and remembered the regulars. Miss her.

This little ice cream shop has been in this location for over 50 years, it used to be a dairy queen in the old days. But now with it's fresh new look it serves up real ice cream....with emphasis on the word "Cream". Mouth watering delicious and hard to pass by when driving through that community....the line ups speak volumes to this. The only down side is the high calorie content, be careful you don't over indulge. But if you do, it will be the most fun and happy 10 pounds you ever gained. Recommend.

The ice cream was good, the service was wonderful...........but......it's cash ONLY. Actually, that in itself is not the problem. They will refer you to an ATM cash machine on the side of their building. Swirls OWNS the machine AND charges you to use it. Make sure you have cash.

Me and my friends just left Swirls. It’s was my friends birthday. We wanted to celebrate the end of the night with swirls. We got there at 9:55pm waited in line till 10:04pm. When it was our turn to order, the lady opened the window and said “we are closed” and slammed the window. I understand that you guys close at 10, but in fairness we were there before then. This was by far the worst service I have ever had.
