Montana's is a midrange restaurant in my opinion, not to crazy about it, but it's also not the worst I've had. The service was really slow, the waitress were very nice, super friendly, but it seemed to take forever to get our drinks, to the point where we'd just order 2 and when 1 got empty we'd order our next round. The food was good, but I wouldn't exactly recommend this restaurant, try Moxie's Bar and Grill, it close by.

Great food, and prices are as we'd expect (a bit high, but not insane). The biggest issue was they seemed a little short staffed. The service was fine, but they were definitely a little slower than they should be, but it wasn't for lack of trying. We could tell their work load was a bit too high. Also, the men's washroom was a little less than perfect - a hope in the ceiling, a partially broken flushing mechanism, no A/C, and it smelled a bit funky. But it wasn't horrible. And the food, dessert, and drinks were quite good.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. After being ignored at the front by a group of gossiping staff who could clearly see us, we were finally seated 20 mins later. When our food arrived she gave our plates to the wrong person once sorted out, we realized they got all of our orders wrong. The food that you normally expect from Montana was not what we got - under cooked meat, weirdly prepared side dishes, mine was missing the vegetables with no explanation, my daughter's hot dog was burnt, my mom's had no potatoes and we had to ask for our drink orders every time she showed up . We finally left having given up all hope of getting our dessert order. I left with the distinct impression the waitresses were not hired for their excellent food service abilities and whoever was manning the grill might have been the busboy. Anyway I'd never go back unless they completely changed staff and I'd never recommend it to anyone.

After being seated, very slow service. Food portions surprisingly small compared to previous. Just 2 onion rings served with the 10 oz steak. Steak was tasteless, beans look totally unappetizing. Prices are quite high for what you get.

Service and Smiles? Go elsewhere. We went for a family lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We sat outside on the patio that looked as if no one had bothered to clean up from the night prior. Our server's attitude could best be described as, "bothered by our presence" and the level of service offered was "ambivalent" at best. The food took almost 35 minutes to be served and was average. On the plus side, the ice water was cold.

Monday night chicken wings are possibly the best in town. They make their wings with a light and crunchy batter that makes them special. I normally don't choose a breaded wing but I make the exception when I go here. The staff seems very polite as well.

Three tables in the while restaurant, took 40 min to get our Luke warm antojitos. Then it took another 45 minutes to get our mains, one was kapow shrimp and the other was a burger. Food came cold. The manager did comp the cold meal which was nice, but every table sent something back because it was cold. I hope they get their act together otherwise I'm thinking it will fail again

We came last night from our 12hrs long day drive from Winnipeg. Slow service nobody was there except us at around 9pm. She forgot the cucumber coins and gave us half way while we are eating. Caesar salad was si dried and the cucumber as well as the veggies siding. She was talkinb to us while she's walking away from us As if she doesn't wanna hear our answer Such a terrible place to visit

We had ordered in advance, for our sons birthday, and Montanas messed up the order. After sending a website complaint, we were contacted by someone who stated our next meal was on them. So, my wife and son went with me for supper on Nov 11. We were seated in a booth, and handed menus by the server. After 15 minutes, another server took our drink order. Another 20 minutes and we get our drinks, by a different server. We informed the last server about our free meal, and that our son was on a separate bill. We finally ordered, and another 50 minutes later we got our food (after people beside us showed up, ate, and left in the meantime). Finally, our food arrived. The server said she would be back to make sure the order was correct. She never came back until we we’re almost done eating, and therefore my wife steak was not cooked the way she wanted. She asked if we wanted dessert? My wife said the apple crumble. 30 minutes (!) later a tiny cup of apple something was brought out. When we paid for the bill, our “supper on us” covered our food, but not our pop or the dessert. When we were first contacted we were told it was on them, EXCEPT alcohol. That’s 2 for 2 with a very unpleasant experience. Come on Montanas, you can be better like it used to be!

We just moved to MH and have had great experience with other montanas. not the case this one. Went in on the late lunch run (2-3 pm) and were seated right away. drinks were slow coming to the table. food was hot and delicious but we didnt see out waitress the whole time we were eating and then we had to wait 20 minutes to get someones attention to get our bill.. did i mention we had a fussy baby with us that day. not good. we would like to go back but only if the managment takes and intrest.

Our experience here was laughably bad! 2 stars for the entertainment. From the waiting area with a sign on the bench saying don't sit here (nail poking thought) to the long wait for food, no drink refills, burnt ribs, asking for napkins 3 times, and having them brought to the wrong table (totally missing with the ribs). Then when it came time to pay the waitress didn't bring the bill and couldn't be found. Was nearly 2 hours for dinner! Bonus my wife went to the washroom and the stall not only had no toilet paper, it didn't even have a dispenser! I don't understand how a chain can be this disorganized

My granddaughters first time ordering her own steak and was so excited because it was her 10th birthday, and that was her pick for her dinner out. The service was really awful and our waitress was very rude. Had to wait 1/2 hr just for drinks. Waited even longer to order food. Ordered wine with dinner and that didn't even make it to the table. She didn't come to take plates away or check to see if everything was okay. When asked about our dessert she said I was waiting for you to finish. We were waiting for her for 15min. At which time we had to ask for the manager. She was very snooty. The spinach dip was over spiced as well as the kapow shrimp. Ease up on the spice shaker!!!the other food was good..!!!

We came here for lunch only because IHOP was too busy. The restaurant was empty and I know why. The service was slow, they forgot my wife's drink but said they were "checking" on it. I wanted baked potato with my tasteless ribs, but it was too early in the day? So i had to settled for fries which were scattered on my plate. Butter was offered for my cold cornbread because that was an extra charge. The gravy could compete with Swiss Chalet as to who has the worst gravy. And let's not even mention the filthy bathrooms. When were the floors and sinks last washed? Maybe before the quarantine month ago? My sister in law ordered Kampow shrimp and were cold as they served them when we all got our mealsinstead of serving it as an appetizer. Needless to say I would not return. I'll stand in line at IHOP.

Once the food finally got to us, after we had to ask about it, was pretty good. Our waitress was very nice but I felt as though we were forgotten about. We didn't get plates with our appitizers or refills on drinks without having to ask. It may be new ownership but I don't feel as though anything has changed.

Food was dry dry dry, steak came to the table extremely overdone and sliced up! No seasoning on anything so bland. Just garbage over all, over priced poor quality food. Server was OK but barely came back to the table, received our appetizer raw and had to take it back to the kitchen since server was nowhere to be found.

Since their Reopening, Montana's has had incredible service from the waitstaff. There are still a few kinks to be worked out from the kitchen, with meals coming out incorrect, but the waitstaff are incredibly kind and more than happy to fix the issues. I'm sure all the problems will be worked out with time.

Most people that I have talked to about Montana's have had the same experience that I did before they closed for a year and after they reopened. The service was poor, like sitting for 20 mins to take a drink order poor. So they reopened for the third time I finally thought I would try for the third strike and that would be it. But to my surprise the staff was on top of their trade and everyone else in the place looked well taken care of. Thanks to the new Montana's for a nice night out.

Sad size of steak cooked very well-done got a second one made asked for more medium came a bit bigger but still well done. Potato was bigger but asked for loaded minus sour cream I got 3 huge chives think a crumb of bacon fell in .. waited so long through pandemic to finally go out ,and was hugely disappointed. Paid by debit so it automatically gets least 15 % . Won't be a next time but will pay cash next time and only tip the waitress ..they tip share with kitchen .

Our ribs were like warm and that's being generous. We said something and the waitress asked if we would like to have them make a fresh plate, we declined as we had other plans for the night and didn't want to wait half an hour for fresh food. They didn't even offer a discount We will not be back.

As a former restaurant owner, I understand that mistakes happen and I'm always willing to give a restaurant more than one chance. Since new ownership I've gave it 3 chances. Servers are great, but that's about it. #1. Waited an hour for cold, dried out food. #2. Waited an hour for food. #3. Skip The Dishes in a hotel. Waited over an hour for HALF of our cold food. Ran the rest of the cold food over. Didn't include any place settings as we ordered. Brutal. Strike 3.

My girlfriend and myself ate at Montana’s tonight. She ordered a sirloin steak and I ordered a 9 bone rack of ribs. Her steak was slimy on the bottom and my ribs were basically fat and sauce. I couldn’t eat more than 3 and a half ribs before I said no more. We got the bill and left. We’ve both been In the bathroom since and I called the restaurant to inform them. The girl on the phone was very friendly and apologetic but when the manager called me back, she didn’t even apologize once but claimed the temperatures were just checked from the health inspector the week prior. I spent $80 to spend my night in the bathroom, very unhappy ad will NEVER be coming back.

Food was okay at best for myself. My girlfriend however got sick from her meal so she only ended up eating a quarter for it. Service was decently slow too as we waited 35 minutes plus in a relatively empty restaurant. Drinks were refilled promptly but 35 minutes for simple burgers is just not very pleasant considering hardly anyone was In at the time.

Stoped here with the family on ower way back from B.C. we waited long time for service and for the food was very bad. Bathrooms where a mess. 1 of ower kids spilled his drink and i had to get up and get a rag my self to clean it up. Took them almost 30 mins to take the rag back. Will never go there again

This location has the worst customer service. Waited 5 mins at the front, half full restaurant, then had to go to the lounge. Figured 2 people working in there, should get prompt service... nope. Cold steak, hour and a half to get it... I always seem to get poor service here. Food isn't that bad but nothing special.

Waited 15 minutes to order a drink, another 40 min. for our meals. My wife got only a part of her order, mine had a hair running through the ribs.After 10 more minutes with no food got up and told staff who noticed we had been there a long time. And taxi 's parked out front won't move unless you tell them you are blocked in.

I’ll start this off by saying our waitress was very nice and checked on us regularly. My girlfriend, myself and 2 kids showed up around 10 to 5 planning on have a nice family supper before an upcoming trip. Ordered 2 kids meals and 2 burgers and beans. Drinks came quickly and like I said above, the waitress checked on us regularly. At 550 we had yet to be served and were informed our meals was next to be played and could be ready in another 10 minutes. Our waitress apologized but we were not waiting another minute.

Arrived just before the dinner rush really hit. Our server was friendly and positive. For the first half of our meal, they were clearly short staffed. Food was good--my wife and I enjoyed a break from BPs, and our kids enjoyed their food. Recommend the chicken tacos and firecracker burger.

moved to medicine hat a little over a year ago and was told to try this restaurant and im glad i listened to that person there is always a great atmosphere, and the staff have always been friendly and on top of things, the food ive ordered has always been prepared perfectly. i for one can not wait for the restrictions to be lifted so i an enjoy the food in house i have ordered take out but its not the same at home as it is sitting in your restaurant

The food was cold or lukewarm... The service was slow and parts of the meal were missing... The manager told us the kids meals would be removed from the bills, and the rest of the meals would be discounted 50%. When the bills came, the 50% discount was the only thing we had recieved. The bar was backed up so there was a long wait for any alcohol ordered... It was so disorganized that I'm surprised anyone got their food at all... The kids were grumpy from waiting for their food. We had to ask for kids menus... And then again for crayons... All-in-all, just a visit that left us all unimpressed and annoyed.

The waitress and manager were great! After telling them my experience the meal was free, I didn’t eat it anyway. The food was horrible I will NEVER go back. Caesar salad was soggy way to much dressing didn’t even taste like Caesar, ordered my steak med rare it was still cold in the middle and tuff as hell only ate 2 bits!fries were not cooked barley warm, side of beans were out of a can I could have stayed home and microwave beans if that’s what I wanted.

I am impressed with how they handle Covid protocols and ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. HIGHLY recommend experiencing for yourself.

I ordered from skip the dishes and the courier forgot a bag. I called the restaurant and Abby answered the phone and she was super polite and professional. I explained what happened and she was apologetic even though it was not her fault. She double checked to make sure that the remainder of my order was there. I told her I would come pick it up and when I did there was a $50 gift certificate waiting for me. Even though it wasn't their fault they took initiative to make sure I left there with a positive experience. Great customer service! Thanks again Abby! :)

Waited 2 hours for our meal. We had 2 kids with us and thankfully they were good through the whole ordeal. We had some apologies for the wait from the server. She said they were short on kitchen staff. It's a Saturday. Make sure you have enough staff. Meal arrived , but wasn't great. I've been to Montana's in a different city and it was not good. This one may have remodeled , but it's the same old.

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food was very well prepared and cooked just perfect. Plus the manager, I think her name was April, does a phenomal job at keeping everyone relaxed and running smooth. I have been to many Montana's across Canada and this is by far the best one yet! A+++

My wife and I enjoyed the food. I had a delicious well flavored 10oz steak. My wife had ribs that also were delicious. Our waitress Vanessa was very attentive to our needs of beer and tea. We topped it off with desert. A great night and sure to be back again. Thank you Montana's for re-opening

Used to go once every month and half or so when my Dad would visit. He liked it... we didn't. Doors closed suddenly, then reopened with new owners and a facelift. Renovations didn't fix their issues. Same old Montana's. Slow/poor service at a not busy time from the look of the tables seated. Our table of 8 had at least half cold food. Also poorly prepared and plated. Should be better for what the prices are. A coat of paint and some new lights can't fix bad product. Can't remember the last time we didn't have issues there.

What a lovely place to visit! Our meals came out at a decent time and the server was super helpful in helping us decide what we should try. She insisted that we try the all you can eat ribs and they did not disappoint! I'm am very pleased that we have Montana's back in Medicine hat! So much better this time around!

Our Montana's just reopened and has been crazy busy. We decided to come for supper and it was stupid crazy but it didn't take long to get a table. Our waitress Mar was super amazing! Our food experience was not great as the wait time was very long and they got the order wrong on two of our dishes, so 3 out of the 5 of us had finished our meals by the time the other two got their food. Mar was super apologetic and got us a discount on our meal. She went above and beyond what she needed to and it made our visit more pleasant. Mar is a great waitress and needs to be commended for her service that she does. Thank you Mar for being a great waitress! Keep up the great work!

New decor, same poor result. Order Rib and Wing combo, wife ordered just ribs. Both ribs were ok, outside bones were burnt. All sides were awful, cold potatoes, flavourless corn bread. Service was terrible, only saw her 3 or 4 times the whole time. Had to flag down another staff member to get cutlery. The renovation didn’t change anything other than cushions on the booths. Won’t be back..

I was enjoying dinner, which was pretty decent. I was traveling and just stopped for a quick bite. While sitting at the bar the manager started yelling and being pretty nasty at this waitress. I was not impressed. I heard stand up for herself. Which I’m glad she did. Too me it didn’t seem like she deserved that. I got really good service from her.

Went there for my nephew's birthday supper (May 21st 2015) and had the worst service EVER! I ordered the Yankee Pot Roast with Yorkshire pudding (after asking if they still serve it as it was no longer on the menu) and everyone else got their meal at our table and mine came about 5-7 minutes later. The waitress came back with a bowl of soup... I clearly asked if it was the roast with Yorkshire pudding and she said yes at the time of ordering. After they brought the bowl of soup I told her that was not what I ordered, so I ordered a steak instead. Then I got my steak well after everyone else had finished eating. I took my meal to go as I didn't want to make a 6 year old wait for his dessert because they messed up on my meal.. Then to top it all off almost everyone has nothing left in their drinks, before she finally came back around to see if we needed top ups. Needless to say I probably will never go back

The patio was fairly nice, and wasn't too busy on a Sunday. We had their chicken caesar salad, which was excellent. The portion was just right to split between two. The nachos were good, we weren't a fan of the guacamole (too much lime). Overall, a good experience and a place we will be back to.

Went in for dinner, an hour and a half wait for food!!! Food was warm at best, my wife got 1/2 her slider bun and no corn bread with her meal. The brisket was more fat than meat. Only positive is the gravy was good. Wouldn't come back again! By far the worst montanas in Alberta I've ever been

First off horrendous service. I ordered a 7 Oz steak medium rare and it came out bleeding and raw. Took over 15 minutes to get someone to come take it back. They brought out a second steak and it was worst. The second steak took over 20 minutes to come out so I'm unsure how that is raw? Took another 15 minutes for the server to come back so we said to just take it off the bill. Which resulted in them taking $10 off. We spent over 45 minutes waiting for our server to do anything during the meal. Which is unacceptable and it wreaked the whole meal.

Firstly, amazing staff. Friendly and accommodating. Manager came around twice to check in! Food was great. It arrived quickly, was hot, very tasty. Atmosphere is great, subdued lighting, but not dark. We have been there 3 times, great food every time. I love this place!!

Started they didn't have any Chicken available. Settled for steak. Our food came out cold and terrible. Supervisor didn't help at all as she couldnt do nothing and Manager not on site at the time?? My little family went to Montana’s tonight to celebrate my first Mother’s Day. We were served by Brooke and ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich and chicken wrap (forgive my memory, but I can’t recall the name). Our food was absolutely delicious!! We gave our 9 month old son a bite of their delicious pickle, which he adored (surprisingly!!) One of the managers (Deval?) noticed and brought our son his own pickles, which he totally devoured! We had a good little chat with Brooke and thoroughly enjoyed our first experience back at Montana’s in years. Thank you!

10 min wait to be seated with half full reataurant. 10 more min for drinks to come. Ceasar salad was made with ICEBERG lettuce. Coors Banquet tap has been broken for many months now, thought it would have been fixed by now. Food was mediocre at best. Was just a reminder why we don't go to Montanas elsewhere, things haven't changed from one location to the next. DON'T RECOMMEND. Tony Romas is way better.

This place has had issues with wrong food orders for years, this shows it is a management issue. I love the food but every time we go in, i leave scratching my head wondering why , as it wasn't worth the headaches of not getting what we ordered. Wish they would have a new owner or new GM step in and get this place in shape

Just came out of there. Ribs were lukewarm, ordered carved steak and it looked nothing like the picture...veggie sides on kids meals were 4 slices of cucumbers per plate many of the bathrooms weren't working (not the cleanest either). They were out of most beers and forgot our garlic toast. We got it packed to go. Wouldn't go again

Had the country chicken with corn bread and it was the best chicken I have had in a long time. Very juicy chicken with a delicious crispy coating. Comes with garlic mashed potatoes and 4 kinds of grilled vegetables, carrots, cauliflower, peppers and broccoli. Very large portions of everything so I couldn't finish it. Service was excellent.

My big sky beef rib was almost indelible and tough, when I mentioned it to the waitress, she brought the manager over who was very rude and refused to correct it even though I had only taken one bite. I work in customer service and I could only imagine how the owner would react if he knew how his restaurant was being represented to the public.
