I went into bath and body works today with my friend. They had a sale on for buy two candles get to free, so we decided to get two candles each and split the bill... it came to 28$ each so my friend first paid debit and her card said approved. For some reason the teller said it didn’t go through and she had to cancel it and my friend had to pay again. She looked on her online bank statement and the 28 dollars DID come out, we told them we were not going to pay again and that I would pay my half so we could go. They wouldn’t let us pay the other half, give her her candles or give her a refund! We went to her bank and got a print statement that showed the money had come out and that we would like her product and to just leave. They had us waiting standing in the middle of the busy store for half hour with a 3 year old while they called their “tech”. After that time we didn’t even want the candles anymore and to just get her money back so we could go. we didn’t get a single apology from the assistant manager and we did not get our money back because they said it will be deposited back in a couple of days. The fault was on their end with the machine and not ours, our card approved so why are we supposed to just leave and wait around for money that may not get refunded into her account? They tried to fix the problem so they weren’t out 28 dollars instead of fixing their customers problem that THEY caused. Unfortunate customer service and an absolute terrible “assistant manager” a sorry would have been nice, instead we had to leave with nothing to show for the hour we spent trying to buy a damn candle.
