The atmosphere is nice in the bakery, smells great! But, I would have liked if the girl helping us had used gloves or tissue when getting our croissant from the display instead of her bare hand. Also, the croissant wasn't anything special. The only difference between it and a grocery store croissant was the crust on it.

An absolutely fantastic little Bakery, I only wish they were open later in the evening so I could go there more often. The quality and variety of products they make is just spectacular. The staff are all very helpful and have good information. Grabbing desserts or bread from here makes any event extra AF. Wonderful for hostess gifts, or throwing a brunch that any millennial would be jealous of!

Archer Sam

The food here is absolutely first-rate.

Great takeout bakery. Currently (Oct 24th) offering next day curbside pickup on Friday's and Saturday's. Order needs to be in on Thursday or Friday for the next day. I highly recommend everything but the Blueberry Lavender Cornmeal Scone stands out and is unique to this bakery.

I love this place. Just the experience of entering the store is delightful. The smell of the place will put you into a state of euphoria. I love stopping in here on a Saturday morning when I have weekend guests to pickup a few morning buns. The prices arn't cheap, but it is totally worth it in my opinion. This place is the highlight of the Corydon strip and a Winnipeg gem.

Okay. Best bread everrrrr.

I love the freshness of this place! I'm a croissant fan and this place makes amazingly crusty and flakey croissants! They also serve breakfast croissants! The only downsides to this place is that it's open only 5 days of the week. But in some ways it's good because it keeps people craving it!

Easily one of the best bakeries in the city, Pennyloaf makes excellent breads and pastries. Give their breakfast scones a try - they're totally addictive. I don't love their loaf cakes, which tend to be overly sweet and slightly dry, but anything in the upper display case and the window is guaranteed to be delicious! Prices are definitely on the high side, and service can be quite slow at times, but honestly, it's worth it for the quality. It also helps to know you're supporting a local business.

Jhapes Ally Nazarie Gonzalo

Staff are extremely polite and are genuinely willing to help their customers out! Will definitely come back!

Don

Use to be one of my favorite small bakeries but after last visit, I felt that the price was way to high for the croissant and morning buns. The croissant dough use to be flakey and butter, crunchy exterior. Now their croissant dough tastes like other commercial bakeries. The Positive is the staff is always friendly

Trevor C

They bake everything on site and the bread is to die for and the cookies aren't bad either

Richard Degagne

Quality is key in my book. I read the labels and avoid consumer distraction. Pennyloaf provides me an Heirloom quality that is natural and loaded with compliments wherever I entertain.

I can’t even handle how good the scones are at this place. Texture and favour are out of this world. The sourdough selection is ace, and as delicious as it looks. Love it.

Josh Sallows-Harrie

The Pennyloaf offers such an amazing selection of delicious breads and pastries. The crust on their bread is delightfully chewy and the loaf itself is consistent between batches with its light and airy middle. They always have such an amazing choice of both savory and sweet options. My two current choices are the vegetarian pocket and the chai scone. Overall my favorite bakery in the city.

Briget Marciniak

Delicious breads, cookies and danishes! I regularly buy fresh breads including big the French sourdough and spelt cinnamon raisin. The potato chip cookie is TDF! The flourless chocolate and walnut cookie is my second favourite! It has an amazing chewy texture! Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are in line with the quality of the product and they do offer specials occasionally, recently I believe it was 5 loafs if bread for $28! That is an amazing deal for artisan baking! I’ve found the bread to remain very fresh for up to 3 days after taking it home (remains soft and delicious!)

What a great selection of baked goods! Bright and clean shop, friendly and helpful staff and great tasting goods. My personal favourite is blubbery scones with rosemary. Would never think of it is a good combo and probably wouldn’t try if the girls there didn’t recommend it. Thank you! It’s so yummy!

Bryce Ross

Love this place. Great service, amazing sourdough, and the best ryes in Winnipeg.

Shireen Paull

Best sourdough on the continent. Worth every penny. Also best everything else. Blueberry lavender cornmeal and raspberry thumbprint scones are amazing and I'm not even a scone person.

Matt Goulet

Just the most incredible baked goods. Stop by Saturday mornings for the most amazing variety of sourdoughs!

Thomas Hughes

Very good quality, unique and delicious items. Good customer service. Prices are a tad high.

We got a whole loaf of sourdough, two cookies and a bagel for only like 20$. Great prices for fantastic food. Everything we got was amazing as well. Will definitely be going back

Izabela Rachwal

The BEST bakery in Winnipeg. I will never get bread from anywhere else in town. Never disappoints, always the most delicious products. The owner / baker was also trained in Poland which is the heart of sourdough breads IMO.

Alexa Graham

Their cookies are the best and reasonably priced for the quality. Just recently stocked up our cookie jar and the whole family enjoyed them!

Tiko Koreen

The best cheese biscuits I've ever had!

Mmm, sourdough. Love this place for bread and other baked treats. Staff is always friendly, and their products are ALWAYS delicious. Great spot to walk to for a coffee and a scone or croissant. Go early for best selection, they often sell out.

Tourism Winnipeg

Pennyloaf is a charming bakery filled with fantastic baked goods. The staff are exceptionally helpful, and will provide options for various dietary restrictions. Make sure to grab some soup while you're there-- it pairs well with their famous sourdough bread.

Lyndell Skews

Amazing carrot scone, possibly best ever. Very fresh. Staff friendly and very pleasant. Forgot to take picture, are it too fast

Laura Lynne

By far the best sourdough in the Peg. My fave little Corydon gem! Definitely try the blueberry cornmeal scone when you stop in.

Liked most of the things I've bought there. Vanilla scones are great. First loaf of bread was amazing, second not as great. It is the most expensive bread I've ever seen.

Galen Guilbert

Excellent neighborhood bakery for when you're looking for pastries that are superior to the factory produced stuff at 'bucks.

Great bakery. Just don't expect them to be open when they say they are. They have been closed early 75% of the times I've gone. If you're trying to get there 30 mins before closing, don't count on it.

Hugo Begin

Great place for sourdough bread!

Karen G

Amazing little place little pricey but great baked goods

Junko Bailey

Great bread, but very expensive!

Post pandemic Karen’s need only apply at this place , they have turned out to be far better at virtue signalling than baking Good riddance paranoid kovid freeks Go to hildegards instead

Nicholas Gray

The sourdough is to die for!

Terry Klippenstein

I heard Pennyloaf sold sour dough bread. I did not expect the wall of options they offer! The French sour dough had a good and chewy crust but so pillowy inside ... amazing!

Jessie White

Pretty good bakery, really disapointed with the service. Went in with my mother and they said one of us had to wait outside in the cold even tho we were from the same house hold. Never encountered this anywhere else so I was very hurt and confused. Not saying I won't go back, just really sad that I will now have to think twice before going again in the near future ????

David Dorge

I love this place. All the breads are great and it's the only bread I eat. Excellent staff and don't forget about the bakers in the back. Thank you Pennyloaf.

Gary Squires

Willow Froese

My favorite bakery in the city :)

Andrea Grant

This is my all-time favourite bakery in Winnipeg. I often buy their Deep-and Delicious knock-off for special occasions (it's way better than the original). And they make PERFECT cookies and sourdough bread.

Pennyloaf is one of my favourite bakeries in the city. They are one of the few places that I have seen with traditional sourdough.

Sidney Shapira

Love the Penny Loaf Bakery. Locally owned and operated by professionally trained bakers. There is a lively patio out front. There is coffee available. All sourg-dihgh based breads. Great cookies, squares, scones etc.

Candace Reilly

I struggle with going here, as I’ve rarely had polite service from the staff, but the bread is so good, although very expensive. I went in and ordered bread and a coffee. The coffee was old, as soon as I put the cream in I could tell it had been sitting and when I asked for more cream (at 8:35 in the morning), she told me they were out. I threw the coffee out after the first sip.

Honey lavender sourdough is amazing it just tastes soooooo good. The scene are the best. Will be back for threats.

Corydon neighbourhood institution!

Best bakery in the city. Their cookies cant be beat and everything they makes tastes like its made with good quality ingredients. The staff is friendly and I appreciate they are being cautious during the pandemic with only one person allowed. They also have curbside which is a big plus right now.

Love this place, some of the best bread and pastries i have had. And the ambiance is great, Love being able to sit outside in the summer and watch the ppl walking by while sipping my coffee and eating my pastries

M Mandal

Great bakery on Corydon. The morning buns are incredibly good and their sourdough is undeniably tasty. It isn't an inexpensive place, but everything is made in house. Sometimes when the door behind the register is open you can see the bakers hard at work.

JR

The sourdough bread is addictive - I can seriously eat an entire loaf myself in an embarrassingly short period of time. The scones are so good warmed up with butter I am making myself hungry as I write this. If you love fresh, delicious baked goods go here! The only thing is that you must go early in the day! The people are pretty awesome as well.

Oly Backstrom

My favourite place for sourdough bread (a few different varieties). Morning buns are a great sweet treat!

B Berker

I’ve tried the croissants at all the top reviewed bakeries in the city and Pennyloaf’s match and even surpass them. On the outside they were crispy with a deep golden color. On the inside, tender, distinct layers with a nice stretchiness when pulled apart. Overall, buttery without being greasy. I’d be happy just to have their croissants every time I go there but their scones and pastries are equally as good. Each scone we tried was unique, all sophisticated, all amazing as were the pastries we tasted. It obvious that they use butter and high quality ingredients in everything. This is now my go-to bakery whenever in Winnipeg.

Chantal Bishop

Great bread and croissants! Try the French bread and make garlic cheese toast ! Yum

Mike Del B

Love this spot. Cookies are on point.

Mauricio Diaz

Lovely bakery with wonderful bread and enough baked goods to please any sweet tooth

Byron

Over priced compares to other local bakeries. Location makes up and customer flow makes up for it

Min Ser

Best scones and biscuits in the city. I kept coming back for their blueberry, cornmeal & lavender biscuit. Perfect combination of flavours and the cornmeal takes it up to the next level with the crunch. Vanilla bean scone is as good as well. It moist and soft. I rated them a 4. Customer service needs(the weekend lady is horrible) improvement except for the guy that was on the shop today 7/18/18. He was very patient, explained the deals on the board and very accommodating.

Dory Jackson

Delicious bread and treats but they are only open sometimes. They seem to like closing for Covid.

Nick Pizza

This bakery is amazing. From their staff to their actual baked goods. My favourite thing here is the sourdough bread. It's always fresh, large, and well priced. There is a cute patio space outside with seating if you get a coffee or tea and some baked goods and want to eat there. I'd suggest the bread and cinnamon buns. Delicious!

David Belkin

some friends of ours told us about this place so my wife and i made a special trip. We were not disappointing the pastries and service were amazing. my favorite was the ham and cheese croissant, my wife loved the chocolate one. We also bought 3 loaves of bread to take home and try.

Easily my favorite spot for cookies- I have tried them all, however their chocolate chip, potato chip, pretzel cookie is the best! Give it a try! Also love that they carry sheepdog cold brew, prizm kombucha, and a family favorite their version of a deep and delicious chocolate cake!

Dawn

The service could have been friendlier and the value for price charged just isn't there.

Paul Prowse

Pennyloaf is a nice bakery right on Corydon offering both savoury and sweet goods. Their sourdough bread is some of the best I have had and the day-olds are arguably even better than the fresh stuff. Recently I had a feta and dill scone from there and it was so good!! The coffee here is not great. I ordered a pour-over once and it was a little bitter. The brew stalled suggesting that the filter clogged with fines resulting in an overextraction of the coffee.

Laura Carroll

Love their cookies, and scones, and well everything!
