I bought some cupcakes here the other day (red velvet and cookies&cream), unfortunately I was super disappointed. The red velvet was supposed to have cream cheese frosting, and it just tasted like straight up butter. Same with the cookies and cream one. Quite expensive for two cupcakes with huge globs of butter frosting, and flavourless cake.

Their macaroons are the best! Nice and satisfyingly crisp, not weirdly chewy like most macaroons I've had. The vanilla was my favorite. The cinnamon toast crunch macaroon was more cream that cinnamon though. I was hoping for more cinnamon. It was still tasty though. I'd love to try an almond or marzipan macaroon.

4.5 * The best macarons in the city ???? Puppers enjoyed their treats - friendly staff - spotless inside. Ordered cupcakes for an engagement party. We provided our own liners. The owner was very accommodating to the engaged couple's request. Her palette and creativity is absolutely beautiful.

The cupcakes are ok. I suspect they don't use real vanilla as they have a very heavy artificial vanilla flavouring like boxed cake flavour. The cake part of the cupcake wasn't very sweet, which I like, but the icing isn't very sweet either so the two together was a one note dull flavour for me. With a mildly sweet cake you can have that pop of sweetness and flavour with the icing and these are lacking that. I would definitely make the icing a bit sweeter. The cake dough is also fairly dense more like a muffin and not a cupcake. Macarons are good, nice size but a few flavours didn't have that punch of blast of flavour you need to have when biting into a macaron. Macrons are small so they all need to be packed full of flavour the instant you bite into them. I did enjoy most of the flavours, but some of them need some tweaking.

I always check the website to mix nd' match before buying anything, and every combo I've made elevates my mood for the rest of the day. Everything made here is always not too sweet and you can taste the flavors packed in the goods. I will always recommend Sweet Retreat! And Thank You for the extra brownie Maleijah????

My 18th birthday cake was absolutely terrible. When I had gone to pick it up, it wasn’t even finished. I could hear the woman in the back shuffling and scrambling to piece together what was supposed to be my special cake. In the photos the cake is unfinished and crude: the bottom hasn’t been cleaned up, the drip was done last minute (thick and goopy, and could barely cut through), the colours were wrong (I had asked for pink and chocolate), the “plaque” was the lamest thing I have ever seen, and the ferreros on top? that was added when I saw the cake and mentioned it was missing. And rather than request more time, or apologize, she tried to garner sympathy with personal problems going as far as to use foul inappropriate language. (Please, this is a professional setting and thus should be separate from personal life). The woman’s cursing made me and my mother very uncomfortable. To top it off, the “pupcake” is goopy and round. Not at all as advertised. Will never be coming back here again. I am truly saddened as this was my big 18th birthday; stuck with a cake the woman assured me would turn out nicely and be ready on time.

If I could give 10 stars I would! From the first encounter with Jessica, the owner I felt confident in my decision to have her make a special cake! The special cake was for my sons Covid wedding in February -30 weather! The theme was an Igloo cake with a bride , groom , their 3 children and their new puppy! Jessica definitely did an amazing job; the carrot cake was delicious and super moist. The buttercream/cream cheese icing between the layers was so not sweet but delightful. She made it a very whimsical beautiful Igloo cake. It was a great hit! I thank her so much and would definitely encourage people to go with Sweet Retreet for a special cake for any special event

The desserts and store are very pretty, but they just taste ok - very sweet and not much else. The scones however were quite good!

Pros: Everything looks beautiful, is fresh, and nicely packaged. Cons: I’m a huge dessert connoisseur and my biggest gripe is not using real ganache in macarons. The macarons all tasted artificially flavoured and was difficult to eat. If you want macarons with real ganache that are delectable, I’d recommend Frenchway Cafe, l’Épi de blé, and S2 Patisserie.

Does the best custom cakes you can find with the best pricing for families and childrens birthdays etc. i always get birthday cakes for everyone i know from Sweet Retreat. I would give this place 20 stars if I could!!! From the moment you walk in all senses are amazed. The ambiance and smell is indescribable and the baked deliciousness that comes out of the kitchen. Par to none. This is hands down the best bakery. From the details in her art and techniques in perfecting so many different treats. If you ever need a retreat, the price is right, never too sweet and baked with so much care and love, head down to Sweet Retreat!!! I promise you that the cookies, brownies, macarons, cupcakes, marshmellow peanut butter squares, cinnamon buns, puffed pastries cheesecakes, custom specialty cakes, whatever she got whipping up, will make your entire week!!! xo

Everything I’ve ever tried here has been excellent! Love the macarons. Only reason I took a star off is the service - once in awhile the owner (I think) serves me and she’s great, but otherwise it’s usually young girls who seem disinterested and unwelcoming.

How u ladies dont eat everything there is insane!!!!! The cupcakes are by far the best in the city and your macs are ginormous!!!! So very excited that this place opened so close to home.. The cupcakes, macarons, And cinnamon buns are all amazing... Love the variety of flavors and the fact that they change products frequently to keep things interesting. I haven't tried any other items on the menu but the cakes look fabulous. I bakery easily rivals any of the others I have been to in Winnipeg and it is one of the only I know of in st vital!

So good! I came here twice. I love how the cupcakes and pastries aren't overly sweet. I can actually eat the cupcakes without getting a crazy sugar rush or upset stomach from too much sugar. My fav. Place for cupcakes. I can't wait to stop by again to try different flavors.
