I love fresh baked goods, and on one of my first outings since lockdown I had coffee with an old friend. He told me he had encountered this bakery on Wall street and it had the best croissants he had ever tasted. Now, my friend is not immune to hyperbole, but he is also a world traveler so we visited the place on Friday. They are not overly large. During covid they are restricting customers to only 2 at a time and there are large shields to protect every one so its fairly comfortable and safe. While we were in there were at least 3 people who opened the door to check if they could come in but everyone politely obeyed the distancing protocols without complaint. In addition to the croissants, which are indeed among the best I have ever tasted, they have a nice range of breads and buns. I also took home a loaf of whole wheat sourdough and their sunflower sourdough. 3 croissants and the 2 loaves came to $20.00 but they were worth it. The croissants were flakey and buttery without being crumby, my wife and I warmed them up in a 150 f oven for 10 minutes and had them with fresh coffee the next morning. Devine. The bread, both loaves, are perfect examples of sourdough. Nice crust and chewy with excellent flavour. We had a couple of slices with a salad for supper and it was an excellent pairing. I cut off the odd shaped ends and cubed them to make croutons. I'm looking forward to toasting the bread for breakfast. The only negative I can think of is access. I wasn't driving and forgot to check for parking. On street parking is limited, and there is a hydrant near their door. You might want to check out maps or call them about parking, but on the plus side, the sign out front did offer curbside pickup

Cinnamon buns are decent, customer service from staff and management are below par. I would suggest Jonnies Sticky Buns down the street at 941 Portage Avenue. Great service and delicious eats & Tall Grass Prairie Bread Co on Westminster. You will be much happier with your service and food at these locations.

We haven't tried the bread yet since I made the mistake of buying bread from elsewhere yesterday, however, the Danish onion and Dijon mustard pastry and the spinach feta pastry are out of this world. I am definitely going back to sample all their breads! Extremely glad to find this hidden treasure in Winnipeg.

A super yummy little bakery. They have featured breads which change daily and a good selection of both sweet and savory pasties. You must go early though as they often run out of everything by noon and don’t make any more.

Love this bakery!! Their sourdough bread is so yummy and very reasonably priced and they are able to slice it for you which is a big plus for me. Also their pastries are delicious; not exactly cheap but well worth the cost for a treat. Staff are friendly and there is always parking available on the street when I go there.

I think I just found the best Cinnamon pastry in the city!!! Cinnamon Knots are highly recommended if you happen to walk into the store without anything in mind. Reasons why I highly recommend the Cinnamon Knots: + flaky but soft in the inside which gives it a crunch when you devour it + the balance of sugar, cinnamon, and glaze is perfect which does not make it very sweet + surprisingly lightweight even though it looks heavy when you stare at it + lastly, it is best paired with coffee!! I'll definitely come back to try the other pastries in store. Kudos to the owners for delivering such high quality pastries!

This is a fantastic bakery, a real hidden gem! It's not very big, and there isn't always a massive selection to choose from at any given time, but what they do have is absolutely second to none! The staff is very, very helpful and friendly, and a true joy to deal with. Although everything is excellent, I really do recommend the chocolate babka. If you're in the area, do drop in and pick something up. You'll love it!

I drive half way across the city for the fantastic Danishes. Today I got there too late, unfortunately. But the great news is now I had to try the Croissants. Wow!! Unbelievably tasty. I am usually a lotsa butter guy on croissants, but not this time. These croissants are so silky tasting, (really hard to explain this great taste) that they melt in your mouth. This is such a wonderful bakery run by some really nice people. A must go to small business. I now have another reason to make this trip to Sleepy Owl Bakery

Came late in the day so only buns and French bread left so bought the bread. Had it next day and totally delicious except for the fact that I had to phone the bakery and put it speaker phone to ask what I had purchased because my husband and visitor from Vancouver were both ADAMANT that it wasn't French bread. What is their secret ingredient or perhaps it's their ovenaoven their crust is definitely different (for the better)!
