It's the holidays and if ever there was a time to pick up some wonderfully delicious Mini Imperials, Soft Baked Ginger Snaps, or a rum cake as flavourful (and potent) as grandma used to bake. Now is the time, and this is the place... Although I do buy their mini imperials, year round. One of Winnipeg's most legit bakeries. Friendly staff. Welcoming environment.

Delicious food. Their butter tarts are tiny pieces of heaven. Their mini imperial cookies are also very good. Friendly service but the line was a little long. The line combined with the fairly steep price is why I only gave 4 stars. But their food is really lovely. I haven't had their coffee myself, but my best friend loves their vanilla latte. Beautifully kept space, clean and bright. There is very limited seating at the moment since their upstairs is closed, presumably during the pandemic. Recommended.

We came for a meeting about my friends wedding cake which came with complimentary tea or coffee. The tea I ended up getting was amazing I can't remember what it was called sadly, the cupcakes we're super delicious with some of the best icing I've ever had and before we left we got some fuzzy peach macaroons they look so good. Everyone who works there gave us excellent service and were an absolute delight.

We planned a secret elopement to BC and had a difficult time deciding how we were going to notify our parents. We live in Calgary, but my dad and step-mom live in Winnipeg A few days before the event, we came up with a brilliant idea to send them a card with a piece of our wedding cake on the day. The staff at the High Tea Bakery went above and beyond to make this request a success. We are so grateful for their hard work and caring to make this happen. The end result was a wonderful cake that was absolutely perfect! My Mom couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and everyone kept commenting on how delicious it was all afternoon. The mini imperial cookies and orange and cranberry shortbread cookies were a big hit too! I absolutely recommend High Tea Bakery!

I have been going to High Tea Bakery for years, and every visit is lovely! The staff is friendly and professional, Belinda is fabulous and the treats are exceptional. I haven’t tried everything, but stand outs are definitely the mini imperials, lemon squares, scones, Earl Grey cookies, and any fancy “lace” cookie that they decorate for any holiday (Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, etc.) I feel like the price is reasonable for the quality and expertise given (I have tried to make flood icing myself and intricately decorate cookies—it’s definitely a skill that requires a steady hand and a lot of patience!) Not my forte! I’m much happier leaving such things to the experts. Definitely stop by High Tea if you want to give a special treat to someone (or yourself.) ;)

I have always heard of High Tea being known for the best imperials in the city but since they are located far away, I have not made it out there until today. Nothing but Compliments on our custom ordered Birthday cake. We chose the most popular and moist Carrot Pineapple cake. My son just devoured his piece of cake and so did all the guests. We ordered the 10 inch round for our 15 guests and still had enough for my son's teachers. The cake looked as amazing as it tastes. WOW!! I highly recommend ordering your next cake there.

A visit to this shop just brightens my day. They have the classiest cookies in town....caramel cardamom and lavender shortbread.

Great store for sweet baked goods. Favourites are the butter tarts, shortbreads with icing, chocolate crinkle cookies, and mollases cookies. Custom ordered cookies have also been great. Store hours during the day end early (6pm) so don't plan to hang out here for an evening, but if you're free during a weekday or on the weekend they have a nice seating area upstairs and on the main floor (always plenty of space). You can also order hot drinks (e.g., tea, coffee). Some outside seating available too during the warmer months. They offer occasional classes (cookie decorating with icing around various holidays) though I have never participated.

When the wedding shower was postponed, they kept in touch with us throughout and the cookies were ready to go as soon as the shower was back on a few months later. Their Imperial cookies make up the 5 star rating on their own. This place has amazing baked goods. My only qualm is that it is so far away from where I live that I don’t get to enjoy it enough. I always order from here when I host events and have the imperial cookies customized. They do a lovely job. I’ve had other custom cookies and baked goods done as well. All were excellent and to my exact specifications. If you have a special event, you really cannot go wrong using High Tea Bakery.

The decor of this bakery is stunning. Their cupcakes and cardamom cookies are to die for. The only reason I gave it 4 stars, was due to some unfortunate run ins with some "fishy' cookies. It seems to be all of the shortbread cookies and the jumbles . At first I thought maybe it was a one off or just a bad batch but every time we have purchased them they have an overpowering fish like taste, so much so, that we have to throw them out. My husband and I thought maybe we had 'faulty' tastebuds but after distributing to family and friends they feedback is the same. Have no idea what may be causing this distinct and pungent fish like taste . Very curious to know if other customers have experienced this!

Small cute bakery with limited seating (go upstairs). They have kind, friendly staff who can help you make selections. Service is limited to the counter where you order, pay, and then you bring your purchased items to your seat. They have various sweet cookies, a butter tart and sweet scones. They don't have savory or yeast made baked goods like croissants or sandwiches. I had a mini imperial cookie and a chocolate peanut butter cookie, both delicious. I also had some loose leaf tea that was provided in a mini tea pot. We were not checked on by staff, which means if you need anything, you have to go downstairs to ask. But, it was also nice as they wouldn't be interrupting the flow of our conversation. Overall, it was a nice change from a chain coffee shop. I do wish they had savory options, as I wouldn't always want to have something sweet.

I have a weakness for fine pastry and have been lucky enough to indulge in the most sophisticated afternoon teas and the best patisseries in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, San Fransisco, Vancouver and Montreal. High Tea Bakery in Winnipeg easily rivals the masters. Their lemon tarts feature tangy lemon sweetness nestled inside impossibly delicate pastry. Their pretty macarons are fresh, chewy and bursting with flavour. They feature a variety of extraordinary cookies including their signature raspberry and almond flavoured “Imperials.” Their decorated special occasion cookies, like their Christmas cookies, are stunning works of art so beautiful, it’s almost a shame to eat them. But even among these superb High Tea classics, one special confection stands out: the petit four is a superstar. Petit fours, tiny little cakes individually wrapped in fondant, are as difficult to make as they are to find for purchase. High Tea’s petit fours are extraordinary. Not only did they exceeded my expectations with their artwork, they accommodated my poor planning, met my delivery(zero drama), and they came in waay under budget!! The cake tasted freaking amazing. Got the salted caramel macarons and crnkle cookie. The cookie was delicious where as the macarons were not up to the mark . They were way too chewy for a macaron. Cappucinno was good but the quantity in the cup was way low. Not very pleased. Could have done better.
