If you are looking for vegan or dairy free treats this place is awesome! I've been twice and have tried the vegan almond croissant and two cronut flavours. Both were amazing, and my lactose intolerant GI tract had no issues! I also like that you can pre-order online so you can ensure the treats you want are there for you. I'm so glad to have a place with fancy and tasty desserts that I can enjoy!

We just bought some fresh blueberry tarts and other pastries and I am in love! Absolutely delicious and beautiful.

Great neighborhood bakeshop. Very clean, minimal design, boutique vibe. Although my experience was a 3/5, I think this place can easily be 5/5. The specialty croissants stuck to the box, first time having a soggy sugary bottom croissants. Paper should have been placed on the bottom, like there was for the baked goods. The apple tartan tasted like the wrong type of apples used. I'm use to a firmer apple for something like this, and when I bit into it, it had the texture of apple sauce. It was still tasty, but for the priceI paid I have a certain level of expectation. The sourdough bread was great. When enquiring what was vegan, the sales person said these on the right I believe. When it comes to knowing what is vegan, I want more than a belief. I need a fact as I can't do dairy. Luckily I knew their Instagram posted what was vegan and had confidence in that.

Great local bakery with all sorts of vegan and non-vegan options. I would like to add until Gato, I had no idea that I love croissants ... oh oh :)

Gato is my new favourite bakery in Winnipeg. Their croissants are amazing, even the vegan ones. I appreciate the amount of vegan options they have, my partner is lactose intolerant. Also, they introduced me to a few Mauritian treats, and I seriously haven't had anything that's even just ok, all of their stuff is wonderful. You definitely need to try Gato at least 3 times!

$6.50 for a loaf of unsliced white bread. When I was there at approximately 11 am there was two loaves of white bread and 3 boule loaves of in view as a selection. I bought one loaf, As well as a croissant that had been prepared with mushrooms. Grand total $12.50. The bread was OK but I could and do bake the same quality bread at home for far less money. There was not much selection of any type of product when I was there. {Edit} .After seeing the owners response I lowered my rating to one star. The owner seemed to dwell on the price of the product rather then the lack of selection. Of any kind of product.

Awesome pastry shop, you just have to be early because there's not a big selection. But overall, great tasting!

Oh what's not to love about this little bakery. Their menus are constantly changing and I see something new every time I pay a visit. I have to try so hard not to get one of everything that's in the glass case. (their use of Instagram is also great, you can check their menu of the day to see what's available). Cute decor, clean establishment, lovely staff, beautiful sign and windows covered in wildflower paintings. Great vegan selection as well!????

Bought the sour dough bread and croissant. Definitely a pro with sour dough, don't think I could find better, my partner loved the cheese mushroom croissant.

Just tried this for the first time today. We bought a selection, and everyone wanted a taste of everything. No disappointments in the bunch! My son's favorite was the mushroom/cheese croissant. Mine was the lemon tart (seriously the best bakery treat I have ever had anywhere!), and my daughter loved the cronut the most. Great selection and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Kevin Hartle

My new favourite bakery in the city, love the fact that they offer a range of vegan products that are so good you won't miss the dairy.

John Hernandez

Very disappointed.Drove 25 mins to find the place closed. Apparently you have to pre-order and there’s no response from the owner over the phone. Not back going back again.

Delicious bakery with a variety if breads, croissants, and desserts such as cronuts.

Carlea Alexandra

Visited Gato for the first time and bought a variety of baked goods. Bubble tea cream puff was my favorite and tasted just like the real thing. Unique croissants and sourdough bread were really good too. Not sure what flavor the yellow sesame seed macaron was but it was also delicious. Cashier was friendly and helpful too. Will definitely recommend to everyone and return again.

Vegan pastries like no other!

The best little bakery! Vegan croissants, cronuts and other treats...their sourdough is also perfect. The owner is so lovely and I enjoy trying some traditional Mauritian goodies from time to time. The only downside is I wish I lived closer but the trip over is so worth it!

Sonia Rs

(Translated) Delicious! Everything is really good and vegetarian, I recommend ???? (Original) Delicious! Tout est vraiment bon et végétarien, je recommande ????

What a lovely place! The croissants and macarons were UNREAL good. Great texture and AMAZING flavor on both. Can't wait to try more items. So glad that these good folks opened up in the west end!

Florence Popoff

The carrot cake is my favourite. Also the Croissants. Especially the chocolate one, and the almond one. And definitely the potato one. I also like the lemon meringue. And the bread. Specifically the country rustic. All the specialty sourdoughs have been amazing. I like the herby ones the most. The tea selection is perfect. *Edit: I forgot to mention the Macarons. I eat one every chance I get.

Ishu Kapoor

Amazing croissants! I've never been much of a tart person, however I find their lemon meringue tart to be so refreshing. Definitely worth the time to drop by this place!

The service was good. Good variety of vegan pastries. I tried all their vegan options and they were delicious, specially the Chocolate praline tart. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the price. Overpriced, even though they have a good mission by reducing their carbon print and organic products, theres also other bakeries offering delicious and organic pastries for 1/3 less of their price. Would visit more often if it wasn't for that inconvenience. Also, the cream of the carrot cake and the cranberry meringe tart wasn't consistent. Order it twice, one day was delicious the 2nd time did not taste fresh.

This place is so wonderful! Great selection of awesome vegan treats. My consistent favourite is the pain au Chocolat! I'm so happy I get to eat these, winnipeg has been needing more vegan pastry options! Their cronut is a specialty like no other that I'm always recommending to others.

Superb and friendly!!!! Love their bread and desserts! A must visit in Winnipeg’s West End!

Aynsley Anderson

Probably the best bakery in Winnipeg.

Jessica Boswick

Hands down the best pastry shop in Winnipeg, the Cronuts are a must have and the flavours that are released each day are super unique!

Sasha Ostrowski

Gato is a new tasty addition to the many awesome restaurants in the West End! I've tried a few of their desserts so far, and it has all been delicious and VERY fresh. I also had their cheese mushroom croissant and WOW! So good, and fresh right from the oven. I can't wait to try more!

OMG ATE EVERYTHING IN THE CAR ON THE DRIVE HOME. and the owner is incredibly kind!

Amy Helton

When I had gone to this bakery with my wife, our overall experience was terrible. Regardless of how organic or sustainably sourced their ingredients are it is still overpriced. The inventory was low so we only had a limited selection. In the end we chose unsliced white bread, and 3 croissants, the sugar on the croissants had become greasy and seeped through the box. I am prepared to receive backlash from the manager of this establishment as being rude to customers seems to be their M.O.
