Great coffee enough said. Glad to see that they are open again. Very friendly staff. Can also visit their booth at Halifax Seaport Market.

Laughing Whale is by far my favorite coffee roaster (right up there with worker-owned coops Just Us and Camino, as well as Full Steam Coffee Co): 100% fair-trade certified, certified organic, some proceeds go to Ecology Action Centre, innovative, quality products. I usually purchase the "Seventh Wave" large bag of Espresso beans from their booth at Brewery Farmers Market in Halifax. The founder / owner is a gem of a decent person. I trust him to purchase coffee beans only from farmers who earn decent income to feed their families, so their children can go to school and live a good life. This family-owned business is a glowing example that a better world is possible if we all work together, across national boundaries and practice decent and fair trade relationships.
