Loved this restaurant on the edge of the water, and I scored a window seat! Casual, lots of seating and home style meals on the menu. Reasonably priced (lobster rolls????) and attentive waitresses. The tables were surrounded by friendly seniors on this day...and they know great food:) I had the open faced hot turkey, gravy and fries. Yummy.

Delicious food, generous portions, and for a pretty decent price. The clams/scallops and chips were amazing, so was the lobster BLT sandwich. We went there twice when we visited the Chester area. The view on the ocean side of restaurant is really beautiful too.

The food is good, great fish and chips. Had a Turkey sandwich with multi grain homemade bread and lots of Turkey with calamari, both were excellent. The restaurant is not fancy but clean and offers a great view of the ocean. Great staff. Also this is a bakery, so you can take home great desserts.

Giving a 3 star rating overall. Bakery is a 5 star though! The restaurant food is between a 3-4. It was quick service when ordering however the fries seemed to be just the frozen kind deep fried and the clams and the fish were a bit greasy, upsetting our stomach's slightly on the drive home. Staff are very friendly and we like that you can sit outside at the picnic tables on the water to eat your meal.

This local dinner near the shore was a happening spot on a Saturday after at 1:30. They were out of scallops but we saw why because the portion size was HUGE. I got a bowl of seafood chowder and it was delicious!

I have to say that I was completely blown away by my excursion to this location. I recommended to go here by a local from Chester and it did not disappoint. Fantastic drive up, wonderful ice-cream price, lovely smelling seafood menu and finally the view. Man, that view. Fully recommend there "dinosaur bones" ice cream, very tasty.

If you're looking for old-fashioned deep fried battered fish this is for you. Their small selection of baked goods is excellent. As of this date June 6 2021 no indoor seating. Picnic tables outside. So excited to have my haddock and scallops combo, I forgot to take a picture!

Amazing, no frills or nonsense family food and service. Two things that stopped me from adding that last star: I'm always annoyed when I see a large additional cost for salad rather than fries ($3), a small side salad would have been a fine substitution, and the dining room is very small, but such a great view! Again though, I loved the place and highly recommend stopping by!

Have had the pleasure of going here twice - just an awesome restaurant all around!! Had the lobster roll with side salad first time - very tasty. Then had the 'double up' which was clams and scallops and fries (but you can choose two of the following: clams, scallops, fish, shrimp) - came with a huge portion of delicious clams and 5 really large scallops - just amazing! My wife had the fishcakes with beans and chow chow both times we went - that says enough about how great a dish it is. And dessert! Oh man dessert there is incredible - they have an on-site bakery and boy does it show. The towering chocolate cake (can't remember the name of it on the menu right now) is a chocoholic dream. And the strawberry rhubarb crisp comes with ice cream and whipped cream and strawberry topping - delicious. The dining room is smaller and I think it's often busy at main meal times but the wait times are often short and they offer take out too. A true gem known locally as the green canteen - check it out and you'll be so glad you did!!

Stopped at the Island View Restaurant yesterday for lunch and was really surprised how terrible it was. First very hot day outside,no air conditioner, windows all closed tight,,filled with customers,everybody was complaining of the heat in the dinning room, now lets get to the food,terrible, is the simplest way to describe it, I had the seafood chowder,I believe $12.95 ,just a bowl of butter and cream,I did see 2 scallops, i piece of haddock,rest was potatoes,grandson had lobster sandwich $14.95,lobster was like sponge,full of water,must of been frozen in the can and never bothered to drain it off,it was just awful.wife and daughter had cheese burger and fries, I noticed they each left over half on their plate,bill was over $62.00 I might want to add that they invest it well because it will be the last from this group of 4

We love going here for ice cream in the summer and also enjoy stopping for a to go meal or for some baked goods that they always have for sale. The only thing that I would change about this restaurant is the dining area, the indoor dining area is cramped and they don’t offer any official outside dining (apart from a few picnic tables for people to eat take out and ice cream at. The staff are amazing!

We stopped in here shortly ago. The staff allowed a couple to walk by us and helped them first. Also the lady at the front rolled her eyes at when asking how long the wait was. I hate to say this but I feel like colour may have been an issue. Maybe be aware of this if stopping at this location

Normally the food here is good, but today I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a club sandwich with fries for takeout. I open my club sandwich to find the coleslaw (with no lid) has spilled all over my club sandwich rendering it a sloppy mess. I go to enjoy the fries, and they're mush, cold, and greasy (due to a piece of wax paper that's been drooped over them). I think I'll keep on driving by this year.

Food, Excellent, Service, Excellent, View, over excellent. The only thing wrong with the place, (I'm not taking any stars away from this tiny detail) is the freezing process. Have a couple fishermen out each day, at night, sure you can put them in the freezer, but when it opens, take it out and cook! Don't let it get freezer burn!

The service was okay, food was lacking in the taste department . My husband got fish and chips 3 pc and he enjoyed it. His only con was the size of fish. I Order a got hamburger patty with fried onions and gravy on fries. Upon arrival I was served a cup of deep fried fries with a hamburger patty slapped on top. My onions were Missing, so I had to get the added. NICE VIEW, we are definitely going to gi've a second chance.

Out for a drive, long day, needed grub, wanted some seafood, hit this place up. Convenient, easy to stop and order take away. Food was mediocre, fries were good, scallops were good less the batter, the clams were dismal, the shrimp was over done, the fish was heavy batter and greasy. It was very expensive. Not the best seafood in Nova Scotia. For a sea side dinner extremely disappointing. We won't be returning, if you try I wish you luck. Be well

Been visiting here with the family for years. Sometimes the phone conversation leaves little to be desired but it's probably because they're slammed with orders. Not only is the menu plentiful and filled with local staples, the dessert bar is drool-worthy. Call in advance for your own chocolate pie! Lunch with a view, and a friendly memorable staff.

Staff are great, very helpful and want to get everything right. Very easy to bring my business here. I've eaten here at least 20 times over the last few years and I've never been impressed with the food. It's not bad, just not great. Homemade burgers are a HUGE plus, but undercooked and never done with a true diner sear is a definite minus. Seafood is usually very fresh which is a plus, but soggy batter because oil wasn't hot enough is a minus. Never been consistent, most likely because they are seasonal and it's hard to find help on the South Shore. I keep trying though. I changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 because of the ice cream options and staff. Staff are great! Ice cream is great! Options are great! Food has always been just OK.

We were there a few weeks ago and while the food was great, our particular server was quite rude. The kid's meal comes with a KoolAid slushie and when I asked if I could substitute a can of pop (my son hates KoolAid), the server told me "No, it has to be KoolAid, he's a kid!" I was disappointed with the service, considering I'd heard such great reviews. Must've been a bad day.

July 3/16 Horrible, has not been the same since it was taken over by new owners. Advertised crab bites, when asked if it was real crab the waiter and the cook didn't know so we didn't order.. Ordered seafood chowder and the scallops were freezer burnt and the haddock wasn't fresh, returned and order one piece fish and chips.The chips were frozen and so greasy you couldn't eat them and the fish was also previous frozen. Will never go there again, to bad they used to serve delicious seafood.

I have eaten deep fried clams at dozens of seafood joints from one end of this province to the other. These were by far the absolute best fried clams I have ever had. The batter was light and crispy, done to perfection and the portion was huge. The wife had the 2 piece fish and chips, which was also a massive portion. Great food, good service. We'll definitely be back.

This place serves awesome food and baked goods. Had a bowl of chowder, my wife had chicken tenders. They were awesome. They have a good selection of baked desserts & breads. The white bread was delish

After 30 years of eating here our meal was not great. The 2 piece fish was dry and overcooked and consisted of 1 piece plus 2 small bits of another. The clams were so tough it was impossible to chew. First time we left food for the garbage. Disappointing.

I would recommend this little gem to any seafood lover. This is Easy coast small diner at its best. The Clams and chips...I would eat for my breakfast their so delicious. Drive by early morning before opening..... smell their fresh bread baking as you drive by. The stag are so very friendly. Real maritime feel. The place is always busy. You can even sit outside at the picnic table and enjoy your lunch by the sea. Stare out at the island's off shore and watch the sun glisten off the water. Seagulls dance around you hoping for a great from the big portions you just could not finish. Close to the famous Oak Island.

After hearing for years about how great this place is supposed to be, I was more than a little let down. It was expensive, the staff seemed to be in absolute disorganized pandemonium, we were called in to collect our take-out order, then yelled at for going inside, then yelled at again when we wouldn't close the door because we were asking for what we were supposed to do to get our food. The food was "meh". Certainly not worth the price. For a long-standing local family restaurant, I expect more. I guess that's what happens when you don't have anything around for competition. I understand that COVID makes things difficult, especially in the restaurant industry, but you've had a year and a half to figure it out.

Great little restaurant with great staff! The food is awesome and priced right. A shame they do not have a takeout window for icecream etc.though. Instead, you get stuck around by the front counter & door either waiting to go into the dining room, pay for food or wait for your icecream or takeout. Meanwhile people meander through you looking for the bathroom so a lot of " excuse me"- " excuse me"! Could use some sprucing up outside & make a nicer area for eating. It's a booming business, always has been but would be nice if they made it look more presentable. It sounds as if I'm complaining but honestly, the food & staff are well worth going to and no way will you be disappointed.
