Great goods and great warm people who work there!
I liked it. Napoleon cake was quite good, as was the bread, the German salami, and the merengues. Everything I bought was fresh, so I did not encounter any of the problems reported by others. Service was Russian style, a bit surly but stil friendly. I recommend it. I hope it does not close, and found some of the other reviews a bit harsh.
Have been there before New Year. Not advice to buy any sweets there, but the salmon was delicious. Smoked Salmon with butter , yummy!
(Translated) I like the atmosphere and the black bread there (Original) J aime l ambiance et le pain noir là bas
Nice pastries and a wide selection of perogies.
Best Russian food store in Montreal!
A cornucopia of Eastern European foods and beauty products.
Try Russian dumplings for a change (cook in boiling water for 7 min or so, take them out of the water with a slotted spoon (skimmer), and dip them in sour cream and/or vinegar, while eating). In their freezer, called Sibirskiye Pelmeni (the best taste), and others are good, as well.
Great little place where you can buy some food stuffs you won't find anywhere else.
(Translated) Really a lot of European products, including the largest selection of Russian sweets. Lots of pickled products, blinis and frozen fish.

Great place full of various products from several Eastern European countries. Very friendly, knowledgeable and patient staff that converse in many languages: English, French, Polish, Russian, etc... Place is constantly improving with product selection and placement, so at times it looks like it is in transition.I'm native from the countries store represents and my name is Vova as well, so for me I feel like at home there!
Great Russian grocery store in the middle of nowhere. Lots of homemade goods, meats and cheeses, pastries and desserts, and plenty of stuff with Cyrillic writing so you're not exactly sure what it is!! But all good, decent prices.
(Translated) The owner of this bakery, Alena, is a very nice woman and she is happy to serve The selection of pastries is large and always fresh. You can sit and have Kusmi Tea And eat too. ???? (Translated) Very good, a lot of products and they are very good. At the beginning, we had said "hello" (in Russian) and even thank you at the end (again, in Russian) ... maybe she was not Russian, because we didn't get an answer LOL . But by asking for a good cake, the lady advised us well, a very good cake and not too sweet (as we like). So that's why we say the service is good. Ask, ask questions ... you're going to get good service. Sometimes you just have to understand that it's not the same culture ... and that's also the beauty of the business ... it's a little corner of Russia here ... a little trip to pandemic time.
Huge selection of Russian and Eastern European chocolates and candy. They also have a big freezer full of frozen perogies - every flavour that I've tried is so yummy!
(Translated) Good store (Original)
Beware of expired products that have new labels on top of the old ones!!! Had bad experiences and terrible attitude from the owner when bringing back expired products. Avoid this place!
Good bakery
(Translated) Super nice grocery store with delicious products and very good service.
The best Russian bakery in Montreal.
Relatively hidden within Verdun, this store is full of goodies writer you have a sweet tooth or you're looking to make a meal that day. The home made dumplings savory and highly recommended.
Good selection and tasty food for average prices in the city. Unfortunately we got served twice with past due produce - some were over 2 years old. Which caused us terrible stomach aches and a hospital visit. Upon bringing this up to the owners - we got yelled at and told that there’s nothing they can do about this and then went on to blaming all their customers that are putting things all over the place. We had to run away as she kept yelling at our backs that there are no stores in this city that doesn’t sell bad produce. Definitely will not go back there again.
(Translated) It is a pity that they are selling expired goods .. but the store is very nice and friendly people work.

Dry pastry Tasteless cookies (croissants) Premium price for mediocre quality First and last visit to this place unfortunately: I’ve been to hundreds of bakeries of dozens of different cultures and this place is Way over priced for such mediocre quality, disappointing representation of a “Russian” bakery.
Cheap products, nice shop But found some expired beverages and pierogied ..

Great place with a great selection of Eastern European products.
Great place for European delicatessen (Russian, Ukranian, Polish, Romanian, etc). Great home made bread
(Translated) We discovered this grocery store thanks to a CBC program (Sunday, January 5, 2014) that taught us a lot about Russian cuisine that we often tend to summarize goulash. The owner Mrs. Sherbina has a communicative enthusiasm and we went to discover the places. Excellent bread; and also a whole assortment of Russian delicacies from the delicatessen to the rarest teas. Vova Pastry: an address to remember!
Has good baked goods and meat. Super unimpressed that they covered up the expiration date on a box of crackers. It was literally covered by a white sticker and was over a year past the date underneath.

Good neighbourhood russian and eastern european bakery and grocery. Must try their pierogis next time.
Great Russian style bread and bakery. Store is always clean, and they always have a large variety of (East) European preserves, tea, sweets and fresh deli.
Yummy Russian and East European deli. Many items are handmade locally.
These chocolate potatoes they are making are so good, it is incredible... I dream of them at night. They also have all kind of bread, sausages, teas and sweets. In addition to their homemade desserts and bread, they also have a large selection of European products at a good price.

Be careful! The store erases the original storage life and glues its own stickers. I have already bought expired products many times. And the pastries are disgusting.

(Translated) Russia on your plate. Reasonable prices (Original) La Russie dans votre assiette. Prix raisonnables
Always nice and friendly folks, and a wide selection of standard and Eastern European foods. PS you’ve got to try the pastries and the cakes!
Lovely place
Avoid this place at all cost! I've had their pastries and they tasted bad, as if they had been sitting on the counter for over 5 days. You'll read in other reviews that the place carries expired products. I don't think they're wrong.
Great, friendly service, extensive selection of European products, good value
Expired Products, arrogant management i asked for date check of a expired product and she told me that i can go OUT + the prices are to expensive. Go to Epicure ou Saint Peterbourg on Sherbrook.
Good choise of products from Eastern Europe and Russia. Perfect taste of "Tvorog" and "Smetana". "Borodinskii" is awesome!!! NOTE: Debit cards only (no credit cards accepted)
Incredibly helpful, polite and charming staff. Delicious home made cookies not too sweet. The best bread ever! Choice of so many things, one has to come more often to find everything. Decent prices as well.
The best products from Eastern Europe at the lowest price.

Great selection! It’s a trip to Europe without the plane ticket and cramped seats! Live the sausage and Russian bread. Some of the desserts were big hits when we contributed these as guests for supper. In fact, rather than getting a boring pie or mediocre cake from a grocery store, pick up some deserts from here and be the hero!
Great place for Russian or Polish's products. Bought ham and dessert, awesome!
It's like shopping in the best European shops. Mountains of Russian, Polish and other central European treats.
They are selling expired products by tampering with expiration date. When I saw this, I ran away. This is disgusting!
(Translated) Everything is good and at a good price!
Beware, all the produce in the deli department (smoked meat, cheeses) is not fresh, it’s so old, they do not even use the expiration dates. There’s a lot of products (small russian cheese cakes “глазированные сырки») that already expired. I bought cheese from this store which made me very sick. When i came back to the store and told them about it, the woman at the store started yelling at me and humiliated me publicly for “making false accusations without a proof”. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully by a shop-assistant. Never ever coming here again.
Russian Korean salad is very good
(Translated) You dream of traveling, but you have no money. Vova offers you a trip to Eastern Europe for a low price. Whether for perogies, zurek, pastries and an excellent choice of tea (real tea not David's sweet stuff ...) What I prefer is rye bread with seed coriander. Otherwise the cumin bread is not bad.
Great, love it!
What a great place to discover Russian and other Eastern European food. Prettily decorated and laid out with a lovely outdoors seating area to savor the sandwiches prepared on sight.
Best black russian bread in the city!! They bake on the spot on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! Must try!! Also smoked fish and baled goods! Coffee is delicious too!

We went there for pastries but discovered a lot bigger selection of food items, eg pickles, buckwheat, lecho, пряники etc. Friendly staff. It’s possible to pay only with debit card and they don’t have tap pay.
Small store with huge choice of European (mostly Russian) food. Good bread, which is his specialty. Try Moskovskaya salami.
Stepping into this deli is like walking into the treasure chest of all good things Russian (Eastern European, to be exact, as it includes gourmet things from all over the region). My first foray into the store was absolutely fantastic. Friendly staff, welcoming owner, smartly organized shelves – all there to help to find what you are looking for. The vitrine heart of the store offers carefully curated selection of fine locally sourced and imported meats, including: smoked pork loin, sausages, salami, ham, baby & doctors bologna, bacon, summer sausage, kielbasa and more. The fridge section is full of traditional homey specialties like pelmeni, pierogi, blini/blintzes, varieties of filleted herring in all kinds of sauces, frozen berries, etc. The freshly prepared foods feature all you can think of goodies, from kefir to sour cream, cottage cheese, feta and pickled salads, kimchi, spicy carrots, green tomatoes, dozens of takes on horseradish, mustard and spicy Georgian condiments, etc. The shelves display an impressive collection of non-refined oils, all sorts of grains including different grades and brands of buckwheat, marinated mushrooms and canned veggies of all kinds. The tea section is abundant in teas from all over the world from Ahmad to Kusmi to myriads of herbal teas. Then, goes famous Russian tea ceremony section: rare jams, honey, preserves and candies in so many varieties. The suite fresh pastry section is an absolute try with its Napoleon cakes and traditional cookies, not to mention stuffed pirozhki and khachapuri that are also there for a take out. To me, the gastronomic core of this store is store is all kinds of preserved fish – salted-cured, pickled, smoked or dried: mackerel, salmon, sturgeon, halibut, whitefish, etc. AND, its prized by-product, caviar, at more affordable price than anywhere else: got myself 100g jar of Red Gold salmon caviar for $15.00 a pop and it was an excellent quality! I was also suggested to try a new product – slightly salt-cured mackerel fillets - WOW what a discovery! The melting-in-your mouth fish is truly a sashimi grade! Fish and caviar were not the only indulgence that drew me to this deli. The store has its own bakery making one of the best traditional Russian breads and pastries in Montreal including freshly baked Borodinsky bread. A few more condiments into the basket like a snow-white sauerkraut, few dill pickles, eggplant caviar and you r good to throw yourself a small home feast in minutes! They told me they also make event cakes and bake specialty breads like kulich, challah, paskha, korovai on holidays or for the order. What a gem of a discovery! I will return for sure.
Best bread, friendly service and huge inventory of everything Eastern European!
I bought cottage cheese and it was moldy. Absolutely disgusting.

(Translated) Thank you very much for what you eat and for the bread you make! It is much harder to bake really tasty and healthy sourdough bread than to stuff yeast and stabilizers into it. I appreciate your bread and eat only it. Thanks again ! Love the food selection (ranges from frozen food to homemade salads and desserts to caviar) and their desserts are incredible.
One of the best places in Montreal for Russian cuisine.
Fresh rye bread, good selection of cured meats, pickled food and lots of European imports (not only Russian). Store has a great selection of pelmeni and pierogi. More attention should be given to products shelf life (minor inconvenience). Staff is helpful and owner is very friendly. Glad to have Vova since Charcuterie Wayne closed a few years ago.
Terrible service, the sales lady has no idea of being nice and polite to the clients.
Great products from central an eastern part of Europe. Helpful staff, love coming here
Great variety, excellent quality.
