REVIEWS OF Golden Hearth Bakery IN Kitchener

Suzie Alexander

Great croissants that are perfectly baked. You can order ahead on their website and pickup or hope they have extra and order at the door.

Melanie Aird

Smells heavenly when you walk in. The cruffins (croissants with cream fillings baked in a muffin tin) are worth waking up early and driving from out of town for. Get there early, as they're only available on Saturdays, and sell out quick.

Jessica Leigh

Amazing sourdough breads (so many different kinds!) and French pastries. On Saturdays they do amazing pastry creations that have been consistently amazing (if a bit outrageous). We moved to the neighbourhood before we discovered Golden Hearth, so it was one of those "we had no idea how great our new neighbourhood was going to be!" moments.

Duncan Uszkay

Dangerously good bread. Like any bakery, get there early.

Lisa Fritsch

100% best sourdough in the city. They also have things like pizza dough, brioche buns, croissants, focaccia, and scones. Everything is amazing. Highly recommend. Right now you can preorder online so you don’t miss out.

Lydia Cheng

Cute bakery just outside of Kitchener Market. Their croissants are heavenly! Will definitely come back

Puneet Kaur

Delicious croissants I have had in ages. Love their plain croissant, chocolate croissant and the spelt bread. Would highly recommend trying it.

James Francis

Amazing. Definitely one, if not the best, bakery in the area. The almond crossaints are to die for and the bread is amazing.

Keith Schappert

As many people have already pointed out... best bakery in town and they sell out early (as they should). Staff are friendly and helpful especially keeping in mind most of the time people see them they have been working for upwards of 6-8 hours. Great One-Two punch with Special Delivery next door with Coffee

Basil Al-Dajane

The best sourdough in the region! This is a true old school bakery with awesome baked goods!

Hannah Swiderski

Love this place. Incredible baked goods — like, everything, but especially sour doughs and croissants. Super friendly service, overall complete DTK gem.

ANI

Great baked good but needs to order first since they are sold out otherwise.

Mat Hawton

Amazing quality and quick easy service.

Ella-Kari Muhl

Best croissants I’ve found so far in KW. What a treat!

Oumy Guene

Best bakery in Waterloo. The croissants are Perfect !!

I've been coming here since 2012, it's the kind of place where international students from France and Germany will tell you this is the best place in town for croissants as you wait in the queue and you say "I know, eh?" (hoping there are some left when you get to the register). The fresh breads and range of pastries are superb, the oat squares alone will change your life, lol. This place is a local gem, certainly my favourite bakery in KW.

N M

This is the best bakery in Ontario! Their croissants are to die for, and we love testing out their breads each week as some flavours rotate. Even with the pandemic, their process is very easy and safe, and happy to continue to purchase from them :) Staff are also super friendly; never had a bad treat from here!

I used to live in France, so I have high standards for French types of baked goods. Been wanting to try this bakery for a while and finally went in. We got the last baguette at around noon, so I hope they bake 2 batches! It was a tad overcooked for me, but maybe the owner would pull some out earlier if you go regularly. Otherwise it was one of the best I've had in town and very well priced. Also tried a pain au chocolat / chocolatine. It was HUGE. I've no idea why they were so big. All it meant was too much pasty and not enough chocolate. I pulled off about 1/3 of the pastry and then it was very nice. I know things are bigger in America, but they'll be even more delicious if you reduce the size a tad :) .

This was our first visit and it was such an enjoyable experience. We were helped to find something we would enjoy, and not told to hurry up because there was a line behind us. During COVID they keep the baked goods inside and the customers line up and order outside, so I feel like they are taking my health and safety seriously. And even on a relatively cold day like today, it wasn't uncomfortable. Even the other customers were friendly. There are certain items they aren't making during COVID, but their web site seems up to date so you can tell what will be available when you go. Looking forward to going back.

We are so blessed to have golden hearth bakery in our neighbourhood! They have the BEST croissants!

Katerina Rossolovich

Stumbled upon this bakery after visiting the Kitchener market, it looked very inviting and there was a small (well-behaved) queue outside. Got a sourdough with seeds (delicious!) and one baguette (a bit burnt on the bottom, had dark brown crust with a bitter aftertaste) for 10$ total. Am willing to give it another try, hope for a better baguette next time! Update: the second attempt, sourdough also had burnt bottom side, heading to black color. This is the only downside.

Deanna Koller

Favourite bakery! Croissants, Sweet bread, and amazing sourdough loaves among other things. Worth the time in line every Saturday!

Muharrem Demiray

Best sourdough bread I’ve had for years. Best place to get delicious sourdough bread. Did not try other products though…

Lizz Webb

The best croissants I have had in Canada. No bakery compares. MUST try!!

Ashley

I was always here on a Saturday and there is a big line, but today it was quiet and I grabbed a loaf of recommended sourdough and a croissant. SO good.

JuanCarlos RamirezSoto

Delicious sourdough bread and croissants, unfortunately I don't live in Kitchener otherwise I would come often.

Jaime Davis

I've only had the 100% rye bread, but wow is it good. Anyone that can't eat bread because of a yeast sensitivity should absolutely try it. Or if you just love a really good rye bread. Nice guys that run the place too.

Azeb Yusuf

The best croissants in KW, and the bread wow! Real taste with quality ingredients! Also excellent customer service! Keep up the good work Golden Hearth!!!

Sarah H

Best croissants and pain au chocolat in the city! Pain au levain is also my favourite Sourdough. Great pre-order and walk-up experience.

Chantal

The best bakery I have been to in KW, and I've tried quite a few! Amazing sourdough bread in all sorts of varieties, and the croissants and cruffins are absolutely perfect! It's wonderful when the flavours actually taste like and show the real ingredients used, and sweetness is well-balanced. Go early though on busy days like Saturday, or else your favourites will sell out!

Aysha K

If you haven't been to Golden Hearth, well, you haven't lived! Amazing croissants! Almond ones are to die for! Sourdough bread is my next fave. Better get there early if you have any hope of getting any before they sell out. Best thing in KW!

Keum Ji Kim

Best sourdough in town. Flax raisin walnut & croissant loaf are my favorite and their baguettes are also amazing

EL GORDO

Yummy everything is great. Plus great people that work there. Go get your bread on...

Will

Best croissants in town, no question. Amazing selection of different sourdoughs and sweeter pastries as well. I cannot recommend this place enough. You'll probably have to wait in a line to get anything, but it will be 100% worth your time

Larry Scanlon

Amazing baked goods. Delicious pain au chocolat and sour doughs. Our favourite day of the week.

Jess Carter

Best bakery in town! Staff are always super friendly!

Jake Marchildon

Best bread I've ever had. Period. Try everything. You won't be disappointed.

Nikki ND

They have great sourdough bread and different unique flavours. Very good croissants. Cookies and Granola were only okay however. Would very much recommend, easily one of the best bakeries in KW.

Dave Rogalsky

Tavis and the crew make great bread

Amrit Preet Kaur

Best Croissants ever had in my entire life!
