creme brulee cake!! It's a tradition to all occasions now. (:
I love sugar blooms cakes ....very very delicious...nice staff........i was brought 3 cakes from sugar blooms and all cakes yummy .
Best cakes in the town. I love the manago cake. It is better to order in advance, as they are busy.
I ordered the Palabok I got a choice of noodles it was so good and scrumpshious!
We - at Amanda Douglas Events - love getting to work with Sugar Blooms. They make some seriously tasty treats!
The cakes/ pastries aren’t consistent. Sometimes good, sometimes not. Been ignored here twice. Lacking on customer service maybe they don’t care coz they are somehow famous in the city....? They don’t mind losing regular customers. Also U have to set an appointment if you want to order a customized cake otherwise they can’t assist you right away.
These guys do not pick up the phone all day and at the time of closing i think they just put the phone on side, it just says busy busy busy! Is this something like owner don't want to do business or the employees are not soo good
The cakes from this place are phenomenal, they get the 1 star because of their dreadful service. They REALLY need to work on it. I am only posting this because this is the 3rd time in a row I’ve had a terrible experience. The day before new years eve, they were closed (on a Monday). I wanted a cake for New Years Eve so I tried calling multiple times, the morning of the 31st, the phone doesn’t even work. I went there within an hour of them opening and stood in a line for 10 minutes just to be told that the two cakes I wanted were sold out and they didn’t have the stuff to make anymore of those cakes (they had 7 more hours). The people ahead of me bought the displayed ones I wanted. I was given ONE option to order. If the phone was working, I would’ve at least been able to place something on hold, order something, or get a clear yes or no answer. Went to SaveOnFoods, got a far better service, better price. Quality of product doesn’t last if the quality of your interaction with customer sucks.
Always been a great experience with my orders so far. Have recently received my custom cake on time and very well made (went over and beyond my expectations). These cakes are delicious and fluffy. Clearly influenced by Filipino culture, so if you're used to dense, flavourful with mountain of toppings cake then this may not be your cup of tea but I ecourage to try! Although I love buttercream cake, they make theirs pretty thick. You may note it for them to make it thinner than usual. Also, you can place your regular orders through text. They've replied to me pretty quickly. Custom cakes, you have to email.
friendly service and quality baking.
Staff is very friendly and cakes are always made fresh and delicious!! ????????????????????
Good cakes, friendly staff, will access our needs very nicely.
The ube cake is amazing. The whole bakery is really good.
Ube-macapuno cake taste amazing
I'm dying to get something from here
Winnipeg’s go to place when in need of a cake! The best for special occasions, a simple get together or as a gift! A very clean place with courteous staff. Even though they are busy, they make sure you’re taken care of. Ube macapuno, sans rival, dolce de leche, pandan are our favourites. Don’t stop what you’re doing Sugar bloom & staff ????
There is a ton of Filipino bakeries already flourishing in this city and it is nice to see how far Sugar Blooms has grown. I remember ordering cakes from them when they were just creating their desserts from their own house. The Ube Macapuno cake they make is very light, not as heavy as other places we have eaten. If you happen to be a last minute shopper, it is nice to see already made cakes in the front of the store when you walk in. But it is best to ask staff if the cakes are good to go or if they have already been reserved. We seen that happen to another customer while trying to find a cake for their daughter. The staff here are friendly and courteous, if you can get it during the season, I suggest you try their mango flavored cake in the summer. It is very good, not too sweet. I was expecting it to be really sweet but it was not. The prices for the cakes are not that expensive either which is a good feature in their business.
Ordered a birthday cake for my son and couldn’t be happier! The order process through their website was easy, the price was great, and the cake is perfect!
I ordered a 9x13 Creme Brulee cake. Since I work at 7am and they dont open early, I opt to pick up my cake at 6pm when they close the day before. I let them know that I didnt need the cake until the next day and they said it should be no problem, the cake would still be as good as the day of. So the cake was picked up at 6pm drove home 15 mins and put in the fridge right after. Two hours later when I check back on it, it literally had cracks everywhere (see pics)!!! I was so disappointed and embarrassed to bring it to work potluck the next day but had no choice. Paid $53 for the cake, it tasted good but it was so ugly and embarrassing to serve to my coworkers. I was assured it should be okay for the next day when it was all cracked just a couple hours later in the fridge. Would not order here again as it is not reliable.
Excellent service and awsome baked goods. The food in the new restaurant cafe is the best hands down.
There was a mixup with my order, totally my fault but they were so nice and somehow still got me out with exactly what I had come in for.
Love the sansrival....they opened a cafe now...something you should try...
Recently had some cake from Sugar Blooms that smelled like sourdough, tasted grainy/mushy/undercooked (-of the bites we managed to swallow), and got me and a bunch of others who ate it super sick. The people who ordered it felt really bad so contacted SB but staff there didn't apologize the cake was a health hazard and dismissed our friends' concerns. Do not order from here unless you want to eat cake that tastes gross and might make you sick!
cake is always tasty ????????
Must try their red velvet and mocha cake! But always order in advance!
Awesome food and great ambience. Truly a great experience! Ate the tapsilog breakfast and enjoyed it immensely. I will definitely come back, bring friends and family, and try more from the menu.
I was given a cake from there and it was beyond amazing. The icing was so fluffy, like whipped cream. And the cake was so moist, fluffy and sprung back so beautfifully. I loved the cake so much. The cake was purple with white icing on the outside. It was a 2 layer cake and the middle icing was white as well with coconut. I believe it was ube? I'm not sure, but it was amazing. Highly recommend the cakes.
Excellent breakfast food with a unique twist. The atchara was a particularly nice addition to breakfast. The coffee was good with free refills.
If you haven't, come and try their newly opened CAFE! Their serving is absolutely satisfying and delicious not to mention their CAKES! And their staffs are amazing! I just wished they have a branch down south winnipeg.
So messed up, I ordered days in advance of my mother’s birthday for a 50$ +cake. On the big day I went to pick it up. Front desk was like “oh we didn’t think you were serious”. They gave me someone’s random cake, didn’t even have the happy birthday mom, love you written on it. My friend said I shouldn’t of even paid the 50$ for a cake that wasn’t mine. I should of just walked out. Don’t go here if you are native, they won’t take your orders seriously!! If you do make sure you call ahead to make sure your order is in place!!!
Fantastic Filipino Deserts and Cafe.
Price is kinda peak for what you get. I really like the presentation and the friendliness who served us.
Sorry to say it's really not good. The density of the cake is not good, almost like betty Crocker boxed cake. The icing is too buttery and thin on their ube macapuno cake, which is not real at all. Their filipino breakfast was dry. Their pancits and soups become bitter quick because they use lettuce instead of cabbage because it's more coat friendly...they give large portion...but it's a soft opening will that last? Also they have a group of people from their restaurant doing the menu testing for the soft opening, when public opinion of people that can give am educated opinion matters way more...since the public are the ones buying.
Great service and friendly. The food is perfect too in the cafe and bakery
This is NOT your typical Filipino bakeshop! This (heavenly) place is where they recreate the pastries you had in the old country but with the taste improved tenfold. Sugar Blooms evokes nostalgia with their ensaymadas and ube cakes while also pleasing a more sophisticated palate by using quality ingredients and exemplary baking and decorating techniques. If you would like a Filipino food experience, Sugar Blooms is definitely a must-try in the city!
Best cakes in the city! And prices are very reasonable
I ordered a fondant cake for my daughter's second birthday with mango flavour. The best part of the cake was it was not painfully sweet like all other cakes which we get in other places. The sweetness was just right and the mango cream stuffing in between was so creamy like whipped cream. I highly recommend this shop for cakes to mark special occasions. It is a bit pricey though. But, it is worth it...:-)
The sans reval cake is goooooood!!!!!
Ordered cakes and were picked up by my husband. Talked over the phone with a staff to clarify order. Despite the clarification, cakes given were wrong. There should be a return policy for errors made by staff. Very frustrating!!!
I liked the cake I had a long time ago and I've tried a couple times to order through them again but both times I was never able to get a hold of anybody. I would try calling for a couple hours and throughout the day (within their business hours) but it's either busy or it would ring and then go to voicemail or literally the call would end. Noone picked up any of the calls I made ever, it's very frustrating. Poor customer service and very unreliable.
Customer service is very good. Delivery is on time. Ube Macapuno cake is the best cake I have ever had.
I was at a wedding where sugar blooms catered the cake. Great looking but was very bland. Fir the money it should be executed properly in all aspects.
Their staff is not helpful whatsoever. You feel rushed like your inconveniencing them. My gf loves their ube cake which I tried to order and ended up saying screw it and went somewhere else. Wouldnt reccomend
The worst customer service ever!
I ordered sansrival yesterday but i was disappointed as its so dry and i feel like im just eating all sugar. I wonder if they change their baker. It used to be good.
The best palabok in town. I have this craving for palabok and they were the answer to my craving. I can eat their 1 order of palabok but it is good for 3 persons.
The quality of their cakes have been lessening in recent years. I bought a cake in the last week it fell apart with the first cut. The two cake layers did not hold because where it is usually jam in the middle was hard icing. They seem to be more concerned about productivity now versus quality baking
I actually love their cakes but in my experience when my wife ask me to go buy a cake from there, i’ve been ignored like i was standing there for a good 10mins. and not even one person acknowledged me like I don’t exist. So for me, i ain’t never ever gonna step foot on this place again.
Some treats were brought to me from an event today made by sugar blooms. They looked nice but too much fondant and lacked flavour. I was expecting more from them! Looks isnt everything sugar blooms. Definitely wouldnt purchase or refer.
I ordered bangus (marinated overnight in vinegar before frying) with fried rice and 2 over easy eggs and i loved it. They added a couple slices of oranges for presentation and also a small amount of atchara on the side that really compliments the dish. The service is great and their staff are friendly and accommodating. I will definitely come and eat here again :)
Their ube is all hype. I think they are trying to push out too many cakes and forgetting about quality. If I am going to a bakery other than Safeway, I am going for a quality cake. Sugar Blooms is lacking that.
Amazing desserts and amazing food. Order the palabok. Won't be disappointed.
Beautiful place, fabulous treats, watched the lady assemble my cake and she did it flawlessly. The earl gray macaroons were to die for!! Can’t wait to come back and try something new ☺️
My son in Calgary has exquisite taste buds. The ube-macapuno cake is the only thing he asks for pasalubong whenever we visit him. Friendly and accommodating staff. Very clean and positive-feeling environment.
Went down to their store to place an order for a birthday cake. But it turns out that you cant go in and its only open for pick up which is fine due to restrictions. They placed a note on their door saying to call them and so i did. After calling 5 times, no one answered but you can see through the window that their staff are inside. Dont know whats the point of telling customers to call when you're not bothered to pick up.
The pumpkin pie cheesecake croissant thing honestly makes me want to get myself pregnant and give birth to a baby I’m both the mother and father of cause little double Doug would be the only thing I could love more than this croissant.
awesome cakes but poor quality of customer service !
superb!!!
Never tried the cake before but it was very light and delicious
Love their cakes and pastries specially the ube cake, my all-time favorite!!! Although noticed that price has gone up and serving size grew smaller.
Cake tasted okay, icing was overly buttery so much so that I only had one bite. Prior to getting the cake I was ignored when trying to book a custom cake. I had to pick from what was available. Not worth it.
Love their cakes. They are yummy, different flavour options and the icing is light in taste and texture. I have been unable to purchase a custom designed cake. They have been booked well in advance when I need a cake for an occasion. I would like to try the other pastries such as the sans rival as mentioned in other reviews. They Do Not make anything nut, egg or gluten free. I had asked, it didn't sound like that will not be an option anytime soon. Which is too bad, it's a choice a lot of consumers are needing. I was told by an employee to instead not serve their items to those with allergies. That is, at a birthday party, give the cake to all except the kid with the nut allergy. Ok thanks for the suggestion! I did not have good experiences pre ordering cakes. They were not special orders but the same as what they have in the display case to purchase. It's mass confusion when going in to pick it up. It's been preordered and paid for and always a search high and low for the finished product and verification that it's been ordered. I have found it better to walk in and take my chances and take what they have or to call ahead to ask what their stock is.
I've had their Sans se Rival, I thought it is fantastic!
I used to like this place but now I'm seriously thinking about going back here. I asked for a quotation about a cake and was advised that they don't do consultation unless we pay $50 to book a date. They said this is their policy to know if you're serious about getting a cake from them. I don't even know where I am getting the cake and if I'd go for their pricing; which is why you want to do the consultation. Most bakeries would charge a fee for consultation but those includes cake tasting, etc. Here, they just want you to pay for information! I think that's a bad way of doing business. What a scam!
Used Sugar Blooms for our Wedding Cake, and they did an amazing job. They worked within our budget, and flexible with last minute customizations. We worked with Nikki and she was very professional, and decorated our cake perfectly! - Dany and Marvin
One of the best Bake Shops in Winnipeg.
Bought this cake for Me and my fiance's anniversary. Was enjoying it until we noticed there literally hair on the middle of the cake this is so gross. Emailed them about it with no reply tried calling no answer. This is seriously disappointing and not to mention a violation of health and safety GROSSS
Staff were courteous and accommodating. Thank you
