Safeway is failing I'm not even sure how they keep fresh food on the shelves. Very few cars in the lot. They are just a big convience store. It's not unusual to see a single item 30 to 40% more expensive. That's why you don't see loaded carts at Safeway anymore. Just a few necessities.

I remember this safeway being pretty excellent back in the day. But ever since Sobeys bought the brand, this store has been slipping, more notably in their bread department. I don't trust purchasing hamburger buns from there. Definitely not a deal breaker for me coming back there, I'm just a bit more cautious.

Lots of empty things in bakery, deli is super slow now that nothing is pre-cut, much higher prices than local competitor on most things, and the quality of plants isn't what it used to be. Good varieties when stocked. Have went on deal days at checkout and had rushed managers forget to give me my ten percent off or bonus airmiles. This used to be the only store I shopped, now I only go for the couple of things I can't get elsewhere. The service and quality used to be worth the extra price.

Good clean store with an excellent selection of food items. Really convenient for boaters as there is a number of boat slips to dock the boat while doing the grocery shopping. The only complaint is the small parking lot where there could be an issue with a large RV.

Last Thursday there was no ground beef in the meat department and today I wanted to purchase iceberg lettuce and found only one head which was rotten. The floor in the produce department has bits of veggie leaves on it and apples has fallen off the displays and on the floor. Not what I expect from Safeway.

Well laid out store with plenty of helpful staff. Have butcher on staff that will provide cuts to your specifications. Produce is of good quality but can be sparse at end of weekends. Docks, for boaters on Lake of the Woods, are provided by the store to pull right up and shop. A very cool way to make boring shopping a bit of an adventure.

We asked if we could pay them extra to have an order boxed up in advance. You would have thought we were asking them to donate a kidney. I'm ok with being told no, but don't tell me that my order is too small to qualify for this sort of service, and then get snarky about it. I was told that the amount of time it would take them to ring me up would be much less time than I would spend shopping for my items. No kidding lady....THATS WHY WE ARE ASKING TO PAY EXTRA FOR SOME HELP. I'm calling you up and giving you the opportunity to have my business plus get paid extra for extra service. (Thankfully Red Lake grocery will do this for us, even without an extra fee that we were willing to pay). Again, I'm okay with being told no, but how about being civil?
