REVIEWS OF Buttertarts 'N More IN Kawartha Lakes

Jordon Mattison

Been going here my whole life. Their butter tarts are amazing if you enjoy them runny. Their veggie bread is also something I havent had elsewhere, that I always grab when I stop by. Worth the price, that's for sure!

Mimi W

Where butter tarts are so quintessential they become one word. :P Yes, I admit it was a little disappointing to find that the runny butter tart had well, run away. All into the paper bag. But reconstructing what was left was still so good. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Tania Hedge

This is a regular stop for me. I have been doing it now for going on twenty years. EVERYTHING IS FRESH! Coffee to breakfast on the go to treats for the co-workers. Once you start you will never stop. Add it to your stop on the way to the Kawartha's.

Rick Arbour

Their buttertarts are the best I have ever had. Love the raisin ones the best.

Charlie

Amazing people who work here. The buttertarts are literally out of this world. Thank me later

Gilles Frenette

Loved the pastries. Great butter tarts, though they are on the gooey side so I hope thats your preference. Great, inventive varieties, but stick to the classics, I say! The country preserves are great, even though theyre from a nearby supplier. Hard to find crab-apple jam these days!

Mike Lee

People come for miles for the tarts but honestly the other baked goods are the attraction for me. That and the lovely ladies who work there. Good coffee too

Adam Wali

Some of the best pastries I have had in a very long time. Very kind staff and decent prices. Highly recommend!

This little gem is famous for its buttertarts, but truthfully, I don't care for them. At. All. They are way too runny **for me** and have a not quite cooked note. Just not for me. What IS for me? Why the five stars? The scones (which, I will admit, are occasionally underdone) are fabulous! Chelsea buns?? Oh baby! They've got them! Chocolate dipped donuts- my personal favourite, danishes, brownies, squares, cookies, breads & buns. A bit pricey, but lovely ladies whom I will continue to support as often as I can!

Graham Gillespie

I can confirm that they live up to their name of Buttertarts N More. Lots to choose from and everything I tried was very good.

Elizabeth MacColl

Absolutely a must. The best Chelsea Buns I've tasted, and so much more to try.

Mike Sharma

The gem of Little Britain. Our favourites are the berry scones, empire cookies, veggie bread (a cheese and tomato bread) and their frozen beef or chicken pies are delicious! Of course their butter tarts and their famous Chelsea Buns are amazing. Few may realize they also make sandwiches and if you’re lucky that they have the peameal & potato buns available, you’re in for a treat (especially if you add a slice of empire cheddar to it). Always friendly and prompt service we enjoy each & every visit (which admittedly is pretty often in the summer).

Great Place to get sweets and veg bread

Must Stop By !! Well worth the drive!!

mike ku

Tarts were ok. Crust was soggy and was very runny.

Will Prentice

The BEST buttertarts I've had, and I've eaten LOTS of buttertarts! I had a traditional pecan tart and a strawberry rhubarb. The pastry was light without falling apart. The pecan filling was oh so runny and sweet and tasty. I could live on these! The strawberry rhubarb was a nice blend of sweet and tangy. This will be a regular stop on my bike rides from now on. Highly recommended if you're looking for a treat. The staff are sweet and super friendly .... unless you ignore their signs and barge in when there's a limit on the the number of people inside. Don't blame the business.

Gary Semeniuk

Amazing tarts, breads, lunches, clean, awesome staff and reasonably priced. Grab a tart or a dozen and come join us at our summertime car shows.

Andrew Au

Best butter tart ever!!

Itis What itis

Wonderful bakery, which is owned and run by a wonderful family. Really good people and even better baked goods! The veggie bread is to die for! Also love the chocolate croissants. Worth the drive on any given Sunday!

Jessica Holdcroft

Get the "veggie bread". It's more like pizza and is delicious. My fiance loved the cinnamon bun loaf.

Brent Fuller

Delicious and gooey butter tarts. We got the classic butter tarts and their raspberry tarts to go. And I also got a sausage roll pastry for a snack. The butter tarts are just phenomenal. They have such beautiful texture in the pastry itself that is just the right amount of flaky-ness. The butter tart filling is rich and is runny, but it's delicious. Just make sure you catch that sweet filling on a serviette and not your lap! I recommend keeping these in a cooler or the fridge so that they're a little less runny when you bite in, also keeps them fresher for a few days if you get a bunch like we did. The raspberry tarts were much less runny and equally as delicious. The very sweet raspberry jam-like filling was fresh and blended superbly with the flaky tart crust. I highly recommend dropping by and getting a couple or three different types of their tarts and pastries. You will not regret it!

Rob Arksey

Asked to, "step back" while the old ladys babbled about sisters husbands and cousins and on. Expected to walk in, select what I wanted, pay for it and leave, didn't happen, I was in the store for more than 5 minutes while this chattering went on, eventually said forget it and carried on down the road. Trading post in Port Perry has great tarts and efficient service.

Tim Scott

Always good, try the vegie bread.

Jason

Haven't been here much but stopped for coffee and grabbed some veggie bread...sooooooo good

Alex Bruene

I love this place. I stop for a coffee and a baked good just about every morning. Always a hit!

Dimitri C

Easily the best buttertarts I've ever eaten in my life. I always drive by here on the way back from my cottage and pick up a dozen tarts to bring home for my family. The ladies behind the counter are extremely friendly and you know they put their love into their baked goods.

L M

Yummy.. yummy.

Kathryn Broome

Absolutely WORSE buttertarts I've ever had. Who are these people who rave over them. They have no palette. Sausage rolls are adequate but I won't be going back. Way too pricey as well. ☹

Nathan

Butter tart tour. These folks have some of the best butter tarts. All their other baking is top notch as well. Prices are very good too. Will be coming back!

r ploughman

Shopped late on a Tuesday, good selection, very fresh. Great doughnuts and my favorite sourdough bread. Very friendly staff. Lots of parking.

Korry Downey

I put these in the fridge (current heatwave) to get the center a bit more solid and my goodness... Thank you for what might be the best tart ever! Also, my kids and I are fighting over this last cheese loaf now too.

Randy Lindsay

This is a unique little place, where baked delicacies tempt your every glance. Remember back when Mom was always making Pies, cakes, cookies, bread and buns and other little kitchen surprises? When you walked in the door and was greeted by a tempting aroma of kitchen delights? Well, this is a chapter out of that page. While people comment on price, others would agree that sometimes price cannot negotiate for that "at home" fresh baked taste. All home made, natural ingredients, lovingly made by "Moms" for your eating pleasure. This nostalgia has no price tag. Take a walk back, buy one of "Moms" kitchen delicacies. Thank you "Mom"......

Geoff Lalonde

The tarts and Veggie bread are a HUGE hit at every party! Worth the drive!

Jim Mccleary

Buttertars are awesome

Denis Blair

Lawrence Lee

Tart selection is extensive, staff friendly with a selection of other baked goods.

Mike Jung

Thank you for taking care of the Corvette group today. (I drove a little fast around the corners going home to Toronto.) OMG, the Lemon Tart ???? was so good!!! ????????

Kim OBrien

Has the best selection of tarts, and THE BEST Buttertarts!

conesandbones

They where clean and friendly. Great selection tones of choices. Coconut was my favourite followed by raspberry tart can’t wait to sink into caramel cinnamon bun. The pastry is crispy. They could use more parking might be useful.

David Wigglesworth

Wow! We dropped in on our way home from Peterborough, and I'm glad we did! The Chelsea Buns are fantastic, and I'm not sure I've ever seen such a variety of tart flavours! The raspberry-coconut tart was especially fantastic!

TheWesNile

I just took my 6yr old son to get a treat after his flu shot and waited outside until it was ok to go in due to 3 person restrictions in store posted on door. Once we went in we were inside my son and I heard one of the older lady's say 3 times to her co-worker at the counter to "close the f_cking door" the front door was closed so must have been something in the back, then as we were looking at the selection 3 more people came in 5 customers total now and nothing was said. Also the same lady that was swearing was cleaning her hands off on a damp rag on the counter that remained there after she was done "cleaning her hands ". There food tastes great but the swearing and disregard for customer/employee safety during the pandemic did not leave a good taste.

Blair Buchanan

We picked up their Chelsea Buns this morning, as they had been highly recommended. They are the best BY FAR that we have ever had. What a treat! And such nice people.

Dino Dinatale

Decadent tarts, all of them

Peter Flindall

Hands down the best apple fritters I've ever had. I will happily drive from Lindsay for their butter tarts.

Warren Goodman

Bar none the best Chelsea I've ever had. The tarts and croissants are really delicious as well. We always stopped here on the way to Bobcaygeon to see my folks.

Ernestina Migliozzi

We used to make stops here for several years on our way to Bobcaygeon. It has been a few years since those days but the place is still the same. The baked goods are the best in the entire area and it still has that small town charm. I love it and recommend you stop here for the best tasting butter tart you will ever have. You will need a bib lol ????????????

Adam Worwood

Great butter tarts (that are very runny) and plenty of other fantastic baked goods. The Blueberry Raspberry scones are simply incredible.

Jennifer Wilson

Generous ice cream scoops and fantastic cinnamon loaf!

Diane Wilkinson

Great tarts but get the ones which are filled right up. Butter tarts seems every empty and all crust .The lemon. rhubarb ..berry were delicious.

WIlla Navarro

Great place to stop for a sweet treat! Stopped for coffee and dessert. They have tarts galore! The coconut raspberry tart was great, as well as the date square. They are known for their butter tarts, but they also have buns, bread and gluten free options.

Betty McTague

Great...tastie...bad fot the waist. Oh but yummie

Anita Richardson

Best butter tarts ever ????

Bradley Wright

They sell an awful amount of butter tarts here and they have more they should name themselves "we have Butter tarts and other stuff and you know what its pretty good" anywhere i give this a 10 out of 5

Bernie Grafe

Soooooo.. . yummy

Jacquie D'Abbenigno

It's a cute small town bakery. The bread was fresh and very good. Personally, I found the tarts way too sweet and the crust was very heavy...disappointing.

Susanne Ralph

All I can say is go and try them - All. So yummy. Only went for butter tarts but walked out with so much more. Thank you.

Noreen McMaster

Wow very good, shouldn't have stopped so much to choose from but mmmmmm now coffee and some good desserts.

Chantal LeBlanc, CPA, CMA, MBA

Great hometown bakery! The butter tarts are amazing and worthy of the namesake BUT the Chelsea buns, pies, and pizza buns are absolutely heavenly as well.

Jim Connolly

Great selection of buttertarts and other baked items. Worth the drive. Tarts are delicious.

Suzanne Baker

Whenever I am anywhere near Little Britain I make sure to stop here!! Yesterday I stocked up on tarts, scones and cinnamon buns! Their buttertarts are delicious and drippy and the raspberry coconut tarts are spectacular! My raspberry/blueberry scone was moist and flavorful and perfectly sweet and my boys rated the cinnamon buns a definite 10!⭐

Scotia Dunlop

If you know, you know.. there are no words for the glory of these buttertarts. Always make a trip here if possible.

Michael McMillan

So friendly plus good homemade treats

Jeff Gillespie

I literally can't drive past this place without stopping for a buttertart or a pastry!! Highly recommended!!

Judith Dann

Always a pleasure to stop here on our way to oshawa and toronto. The cheese biscuits and butter tarts are worth the trip! Pleasant owner.

Pat rick

Great tarts and sweets, absolutely delicious. But we really come here for the veggie bread. Though it should really be called cheesy bread because it's covered with cheese more so than veggies and is absolutely fantastic! We only took one star off since we findthe pastries too sweet. Could use half the sugar and let the natural flavours shine through.

Murray Snell

The Chelsea Buns here are absolutely the best. They easily cut in to 4 pieces and freeze beautifully.

Jeremy Thorne

Nice little spot, very friendly in there! Yummy baked goods!

M Johnston

Best place for good eats...and the staff are super friendly. Be sure to give them a try.

Brona Laffan

I would of giving this 5 star rating but nothing was covered and flies on the cakes. But lovely looking bakery and lovely staff.

Pierre Bonhomme

Best fruit tarts! If you are in Little Britain, you need to stop here and get some!

Jen S

Buttertarts N’ More is a staple of the Little Britain community and a go-to stop for Kawartha cottagers on their way from the city to the lake. Little Britain is a little four corners tucked away in farm country but you can’t miss Buttertarts N’ More bright yellow awning and the huge Cujo (Maple Leafs) paper mache moose in its parking lot. They’re renowned for their butter tarts but they’re also known for their spectacular Chelsea buns, scrumptious scones, their signature Veggie/cheese Bread, plus so much more – breads, pot pies, pickled goods, pet treats! I am addicted to their berry scones.:) Buttertarts N’ More is open everyday, even holidays (except Christmas) so there’s no reason to miss out, it’s worth the visit!

Fill InHistory

Did you come here for the "more"? No. You came to enjoy butter tarts in Little Britain during Tea Time while reminscing about the queen. Ask for the tart special and avoid asking who's the "tart of the town".

Linda Dabydeen

Awesome place! Stop by and treat yourself to some baked goods, especially the blueberry-raspberry scones and "calorie-free" buttertarts. The wonderful woman behind the counter assured me that ALL the treats are calorie-free! When you pay, you can drop a donation in to their collection for the local food bank, and come away feeling good!

Michael Mackasey

Great buttertarts Great people

Scott Stedman

Best place around for baked goods and Kawartha dairy ice cream.

Andy Telford

A place called Butter tarts and More, and they didn't even have any butter tarts....

George Olds

Sweet spot. Big pleasant surprise was the spicy sausage rolls. Will be back.

Glen Byrnes

Goodies for elders. Always a favorite spot.

Nicola M Sinclair

The employees are extremely rude. I’m not sure if it’s a race thing or not but they were polite to everyone else in the store and even though I was next in line, I was told to wait and then the employees proceeded to serve other people who came in after. When I eventually got the tarts they weren’t even that good. I was treated rudely and impolitely for a butter tart that tasted like rotting lemon?

Todd Riedl

Great stop on the Butter Tart Tour.
