REVIEWS OF Bear's Paw Bakery IN Jasper

Mimi W

I was really looking forward to trying the "famous" Bear's Paw, but found it was more coffee-oriented than a bakery. The bear paws themselves needed a little more flavour, too... -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Marcel Huebler

Great place to relax a bit on the inside or in front of the store. Well laid out and comfy. Food comes in big affordable portions and is good when on budget and very hungry. Unfortunately I did not find either the food or the coffee especially delicious. But that might just be a personal thing because everyone else seemed happy.

Vanfoodiepharmily

@bearspawbakery ft ???? claws at @fairmontjpl . . Can you see the claws? Couldn’t really leave Jasper without dropping by Bear’s Paw Bakery and enjoying this legendary treat in front of this gorgeous view at the Lodge! The taste of raisin was strong with this one! . . I thought the treats were reasonably priced but for some reason, the staff there just looked like they absolutely hated their jobs. The vibe there was a little weird even though the treats were great.

Asal Rahbari

definitely a touristy place that everyone wants to visit but not as good!!! the scones tasted old and I think they were frozen and just thawed. Coffee wasn't anything special. Slightly overrated!

Jason Ho

Absolutely love the varieties of absolutely delicious baked goods and local coffee here

Jade Allen

A family tradition that we must go to the Bear Paw every time we go to Jasper! Great baked goods - the scones are really good right now and great specialty coffees too!

Harsha

Below average baked goods. The croissants were dense. The Veggie pocket was undercooked pastry with a roughly mashed veggie stuffing. At 7AM the pastry already lost its freshness. Was asked to use the microwave to heat my pastry ???? Expensive, but good coffee though.

Christian Rijanto

Good little bakery especially for breakfast or take away before a long drive.

Linh Nguyen

Awesome bakery, cafe and sandwich place! They have a microwave for you to use. Great place for lunch! I really liked the pizza pretzel and toffee latte!

Kara Leno

Food was pretty good. Got a sticky cinnamon bun, pizza pretzel and a cookie. The issue was in the service which seems to be common from reading previous reviews, no smiling and very short with us and it seemed other customers had the same experience. I overheard an employee serving a heavier man and asking if he wanted his drink non fat. As sitting in eating our food, watching more people be served, it became more apparent that the service is lacking.

Mathieu Rouleau

The line is always long in the morning but waiting in line for the raspberry white chocolate scones. They are amazing! Really flavorful and tasty.

Linda Myrholm

I had a great experience this morning! I went to watch the sunrise over the mountains (excellent location), I was greeted by a most wonderful person and pleasing environment. The food was wonderful and the coffee selection tasty. I definitely recommend you try it out.

Meghana Reddy

We tried their signature raspberry white chocolate scone, chocolate croissant, and got ourselves moccachino and Americano. Drinks were great, scone had chunks of white chocolate, nicely done, not too much of sweeteners added, Which I liked! Chocolate croissant was alright. Drinks were served with a chocolate covered coffee bean I believe, I enjoyed it. Service was friendly and welcoming. They are quite busy, don’t expect a restaurant fashioned service! Ambience is super adorable, with some merchandise and cute bear paw mats.

Sukhraj Hothi

Busy place, all the tourists come here. They have a good selection of baked goods and they all do taste great! Staff didn’t seem so enthused but we got what we wanted quick. The place is super busy, plan on taking out food. This place will get busy in the mornings for coffee runs + breakfast. We got the almond croissant and it tasted amazing! Would be get it again :)

Emmanuel Igbokwe

I stopped here a couple times in the morning to get some breakfast and lunch sandwiches before heading to Marmot for the day. It was fairly busy on both occasions which was expected. I ordered a raspberry white chocolate scone, a sunny day sandwich (egg, ham, and cheese on a english style muffin), a turkey sandwich, and ham sandwich all were great. Service was underwhelming both times. Staff didn't seem very enthusiastic or attentive which was unfortunate because it subtracted from the customer service experience. I had to repeat my order twice to the gentleman at the front counter who gave me the vibe he was doing me a favor taking my order. In this economy I'm sure there are people with positive attitudes willing to work a delightful place like this, ditch the zero.

Jessica Xiong

Good place to grab a coffee while visiting Jasper. Make sure you try their scones and spicy sausage rolls too!

Anna Tasca

Long line up for an overrated bakery. Coffee was good, cinnamon buns are good but scones and other pastries were nothing special. Service not that great too

Tara Ryan

Very busy little cafe! We stopped in around ten and there was a queue almost out the door. They do a wide selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, muffins, cookies, croissants, scones, cheese sticks etc and more. We got: cheese stick, hazlenut danish, sticky cinnamon roll, raspberry and white chocolate scone and a bear paw. All were thoroughly enjoyed. We also got coffee and tea. To any British people reading - the tea is not English breakfast as we would know it. Better to avoid if you're looking for that. With that being said though, the other flavours were nice too. There are about six tables available for sitting in if you wish and lots of street parking available directly outside or around the corner. We would definitely come back - the service was really friendly and the pastries delicious.

Nicole Maneschyn

We love this bakery and there is a sister bakery down the main Street. This bakery even had a few options that are gluten friendly if you need that. The drinks and food are great and fresh.

LUV 4GLITTR

Don't know how this place got such good ratings. Maybe we came at a bad time of year but I was very dissappointed. We stayed nearby and my hubby would go there to get a coffee in the morning and a pastry or bun for me. The Danish and Bear Claw were over-baked, hard and dry. My hubby had only 1 good blend of coffee. One morning there was only 1 pot of coffee made. They other blends were empty. However they did have a sign in the window saying they were short staffed.

Victor Nguyen

Croissant aux amendes is very very disappointing, it is very dry and does not look fresh. But the scones and cinnamon rolls are delicious.

Catherine Lachance

The food was good and the staff were nice ! My chai latte taste delicious

R Felipe

Bear's Paw Bakery is a great little place located in Jasper that offers excellent fresh baked good. I had the cinammon sticky bun, the spicy sausage roll, and a latte. I'm not sure if missed it but my only comment is that it was missing a coffee menu but apart from that I definitely was not disappointed.

Graeme Emmerzael

I had a roast beef sandwich on very fresh bread, a tasty chocolate croissant, and good hot chocolate. Great place to grab something for breakfast or lunch to go before heading out on the hiking or snowshoe trails.

erin goetz

Excellent baked goods, quick service. Long lines at peak times but with the wait.

Jose Carlos de Macedo Soares

So many options, everything is great! Quick service, always full. Don't expect to sit down. Buy and go. Several types of fresh bread everyday. Highly recommended!

Geoffrey Quignon

Super place to have an amazing breakfast. Pastries were delicious (bear paw, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon buns, croissants, chocolate and cheese scones, blueberry and chocolate muffins). So much pastries to try! The perfect fruit yogurt was absolutely amazing! The staff was nice but not much and not really welcoming. This is why the bakery deserves to my opinion 4 stars and not 5.

Meghana Reddy

We tried their signature raspberry white chocolate scone, chocolate croissant, and got ourselves moccachino and Americano. Drinks were great, scone had chunks of white chocolate, nicely done, not too …

Talena Baker

One of the best cafes in Jasper. This place has great coffee and pastries that are homemade. The facility is a little small so finding somewhere to sit can be difficult but you can take things to go. It is often very busy especially in the summer time and the prices are a bit expensive but the pastries are delicious.

Shawna Pandya

Not as good as usual (usually amazing!). Found a hair in my rhubarb square, raspberry scone was hard and dry, and the rum ball tasted like formalhyde.

Jeff Manuntag

If you are in Jasper, you need to make sure to visit the paw. The sticky buns are insane and the baked goods are top notch. It gets pretty busy, so make sure you make enough time when you make your way down. Great pastries, coffee and lattes. Prices are decent and the staff are friendly. The smell Of freshly baked bread will consume you.

Nathan Vennekens

With all the buzz about this bakery we decided to have breakfast here. We had a jalapinio bread, a vegie sandwich and a breakfast muffin. Loved the breakfast muffin and cappuccino but the sanwich was boring and fell apart. The Jalapinio bread was okay but they didn't heat it. Service is grumpy. Maybe I will come back to try something sweet.

Scotia Romkey

Exactly what you'd expect of a quaint small town bakery. Excellent fresh made baked goods, but mostly snack type items rather than full meals. I didnt have a coffee there but did overhear another customer saying it was awesome coffee.

Cameron Bégin

If you enjoy underwhelming watery coffee, 'meh' tier pastries and an unmistakable vibe of 'I don't want to be here' radiating from the staff , this place is for you! If not, do as we did, throw out your coffee and go to Tim's

Magdalena Majchrzak

Good coffee, veeeery good pastry. Small, friendly and charming Caffe, perfect way to start the day

Neal Cleaves

Great coffee. Stronger than Superman and I ain't kidding ya! Very, very tasty baked treats. Nice spot to sit on the bench outside or in the nearby park. Very friendly staff! A must visit while in Jasper!

Darren S.

Disappointed today. Picked up three different treats today and all three were a little dry. Pity as I have enjoyed their treats before. Their scones also seem to be decreasing in size over the years. Second best espresso in town. The sausage rolls are good, especially if slightly warmed. Staff is always very friendly. Place can be very busy at times.

Dylan Gavel

Awesome coffee shop. Super busy. The pastries and baked goods were good. Not as good as we were expecting but still good. Coffees were great.

Shanee Chung

I also thought this place was overrated. The queue was pretty long each morning and the staff were clearly too busy to be friendly. They were not rude or anything - just quite mechanic. What do you want/this is the price/off you go. Grabbed sandwiches in the morning for a day hike of the day on 2 occasions. Both times they got pretty soggy by lunch. Only ate half and ended up tossing the other half. Their famous sticky bread wasn’t anything too special - it was like a drier version of a cinnamon roll. Won’t be returning..

Carla van Vuren

Unfortunately had a very bad experience. Not what I expected at all according to previous reviews. Because of covid there's only one person per family allowed, which is normal, but groups still went in and they didn't say anything about it even though they have many signs on the door. My boyfriend went in and I just had to guess on what to take because they didn't place a menu outside of the building for the people that had to wait outside. The service in the place was minimal. The blond girl behind the counter was quite rude. They didn't warm up any of things we bought (like sausage rolls which you kinda want to eat warm), you had to microwave them yourself yet you were expect to tip them (there was no option to leave no tip). Like I said there was minimum service, I don't tip the cashier at the grocery store either (and they deserve my tip way more at this point). The products we bought were also nothing special, far from even. The savoury food we bought was beyond greasy and full of oil. Really not impressed with this bakery at all.

Karen Pérez Cruz

Cashier wasn't very nice when I asked it they had almond milk, as if it was annoying to her. Wish the customer service experience I received was better but their drinks and food were great.

Jon Poulin

Stopped by to pick up coffee on the way out of town. The coffee was good and we also ordered a cheese bun. The bun was good but hard from sitting in the case. It could really have used a quick heating up before giving it to us. If you order one, request that and let me know how it tastes.

Ernest Hui

Stopped at this bakery for some mochas and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was frothy and delicious. The shop is well set up with a cozy sitting area near a fireplace. There's also an assortment of baked goods for all you heavy snackers.

Sharmaine Z

Their baked goods are delicious. If you get there early enough, the sticky cinnamon buns are a good choice. Service is slow and a bit inefficient when it's busy and their express window doesn't allow for latte orders. They have a nice bench outside of their store. I know it's a bit after restrictions lifted in Alberta, but I did not feel safe even though there are plexiglass in place. Otherwise visitors just ignore social distancing.

Maria Leonardo (Maffy)

I always go to Bear's paw whenever we go to Jasper now. I love their iced caramel macchiato and their spicy sausage sandwich is also good! Good stuff ????

André Bentivoglio

Meh... Mixed reviews. Crazy busy in morning. Not efficient at taking order, paying, etc... Food is good and very fresh though... Watch out though, when they close at 6pm, they mean it. Ask everyone to leave. Have to add that the lineup speaks volumes for the food. (Also, we went back a couple of times). Please do something about taking my money in a timely fashion. I shouldn't have to figure on a 30 minute stop for a couple of coffees and scones for takeout.

Mtn Life

Always a great stop in Jasper. Great coffee and the sticky cinnamon buns are my favourite!!

Matt Clarke

Super busy mornings - as it has great choice and tasting snacks plus coffee choices. A bit of a wait as there is heaps of people but that’s ok - nice service and good espresso and muffins

Jennifer Lynn

Fresh made bakery items and hot coffee.

Brett H

We stop here every time we are in Jasper for camping and hiking. It's our little treat on every trip. I can't give an honest review about everything they offer, but I will tell you that their Chai Latte and Rhubarb squares are amazing. I would imagine everything else is great too. It's a little pricey, but nothing out of the ordinary for a nice cafe.

Shaho Vat

Coffee wasn't very special, I'd suggest to just stick with their teas/tea lattes. Scones and danishes were okay. However, I like that they have an express window if you know what you want already. Nice vibe inside and I prefer this location to their other location - "Other Paw Bakery".

Kristian Jegodtka

The sticky buns and Cranberry White Chocolate scones were fantastic as expected and surprisingly their darkest roast coffee was very good too, as it isn't marketed as a coffee place i wasn't expecting as much.

Aidan Sheppard

This is my first stop every time I come to Jasper. Amazing coffee and delicious baked goods. Definitely worth the wait in line!

André Enginco

Best Morning Glory Muffin and Butter Pecan Tart I’ve ever had! ❤️

Andrew Goldis

The place is nice, we bought 4 pasteries and all of them were dry and not fresh, coffee is ok. May be we came too late to get fresh pasteries, it's definitely not place of 4.4 points... expected better....

June 24th, 2020 @ about 1:15 on pyramid lake road - Ordered a couple of lattes and there was a misunderstanding on what type of coffee I ordered. Instead of waving it off (seeing as I was quite polite) the brunette cashier (in her twenties) sneered and walked off to the back WITH MY TWO CUPS. Then reappeared with a really off-putting attitude. I was too blown away by how rude she'd been to have the wherewithal to ask her why she'd brought our cups to the back room. Not sure if she did something to them? So threw out the coffee. Such a Bad customer service experience. Hands down.

Aiyie Lim

Bear’s Paw Bakery is a great little cafe located in Jasper. I love that everything was fresh and delicious! You have to try their espresso cheesecake it was a bomb! Customer service is excellent and fast. They even gave us a loaf of bread on the way.

Kathy Pfeifer

When in Jasper you simply must take the time to visit The Bear’s Paw Bakery! They have the most delicious scones and fantastic coffee. The bread is simply outstanding. Staff are friendly and helpful always going above and beyond to help customers.

Nina Hildebrandt

Stopped here on our way out of town and wished we had visited more during our stay! The pastries were delicious and so were the drinks. Staff was super friendly and I appreciated the little pager you were given while they made your coffee so you could wait outside. My 3 year old especially loved the bear paw pastry.

Tak Takeda

Good bakery with very reasonable pricing, especially given that it's in a resort town of Jasper. Good non-baked food options as well. Their soups were good, and their sandwiches were good, but not amazing.

Julia Nicholls

Absolutely awful customer experience and coffee. I walked up to the quick service window to be greeted without a hi and solely being asked what I wanted to get. I asked if they had a menu to see closer up to which they replied, "no". No elaboration. The employee was rude, short, and not helpful at all. They were the worst choice in representing this establishment because they had no customer service skills whatsoever. They proceeded to tell me I needed to fill my coffee indoors. With the prices and COVID, why have a service window? I wished not to go inside and I paid way to much to fill my coffee myself. The furniture is old and not secure. Make sure you don't spill your coffee or need a stable surface for any reason - you won't get it. The pastries were fine, but nothing to make my order or 2 coffees and 2 pastries 17$ CAD. I dislike Tim's but in all honestly, I would prefer that over this local place simply due to it lacking customer service. I do not recommend going to this establishment.

Cyril Nuere

Not a single bad food. Cinnamon roll is a must try for sure. Shoutout to the kind and friendly staff (Belle and Lorna)

Sidney Aluani

Good bakery, but if you are used to good ones, this one is just average. But the best you can find in the mountains! Not 4 or 5 stars because they close too early.

Timothy Yue

My dentist told me he would drive all the way from Calgary to Jasper just for their raspberry white chocolate scone. So we scouted it out the night before, the baked goods smelled so good! We woke up early and got there the first thing in the morning. Sure enough, lines were formed by 730am. We got scones, croissants, pretzels , coffee and cappuccino. Disappointment sank in when we got back to hotel, the scone was dried, almond croissants were average (wow bakery @ Chinook is miles ahead), nothing to write home about. Coffee was coffee, and cappuccino (Deville @ Market Mall is still my favorite).

Gregory Merchel

Great place. Cinnamon roll was incredible.

Emily C

Received quotes in writing for a cake and when I went to order the price had increased 50%. Staff had quoted entirely wrong prices and wouldn't own their mistake. Disappointed by their customer service.

Thomas Hartman

Finding this place was like finding the "pot-o-gold" at the end of the rainbow! The baked goods are outstanding! Just like I remember when I was young in the 1959-60s. We always stop here when we are in Jasper, hopefully they are not sold out!

Jack Rondini

Wow! What a cute bakery. Ha! Ha! I’m here on vacation checking out nature and a person I follow on Instagram recommending the Bear’s Paw Bakery. We weren’t disappointed. We found the blueberry tarts and sandwiches tasty. Service and prices were good, even for Jasper. We like the ambience too. Definitely recommend this be on your list of place to visit if you are ever in Jasper.

Julia Rakowski

No word of a lie, I would make the drive from Edmonton on a day off just for their white chocolate raspberry scones. It's always crazy busy but so so very worth the wait. Everything is always super fresh, delicious, and fairly reasonably priced. I can't wait to pop in when I'm in town next week!

Zachery Peters

Fantastic. Had a cappucino and jalepeno pizza bun thing. They were amazing, a little pricy but amazing. Im writing this reveiw 2 months after i ate there only once and i still remember it, it was that good.

Charmaine Taylor

Delicious treats and superb coffee. Staff is always friendly. Its usually busy so do not go if you are lacking in patience.

Katie Pollard

A great local spot - they have TWO LOCATIONS in town. This is the busier one. Drive down the main road a few blocks to get to The Other Bear Paw which has the same offering and less of a line up. Their breads are wonderful. The spicy chili cheese bread (loaf) is PERFECT. Coffee is fantastic. All of the muffins, scones and cinnamon buns are moist and delicious! There's no reason to go to any big chain coffee place.

Trevor Blasko

Went late in day and the shelves were looking quite bare. Always look for raspberry white chocolate scones and sausage rolls. They were out of sausage rolls at both locations. Visit early to get what you want.

Aaron Heinrich

Awesome cinnamon buns. Also had the Morning Glory muffins which were awesome. And got some really good sandwiches to eat while we were skiing.

Deegan Pope

Surprisingly disappointed. We've stopped at the other bear paw cafe many times. Maybe they just had an off day but none of us liked our drinks. My Americano had a real earthy taste which may have just been the beans, but my wife didn't like her chai and our friend wasn't impressed with her flat white either. The kids liked the sugar cookies and the inside of the sticky bun was good. The outside was dried out but it was also right before closing. Our daughter ordered a Nutella turnover which was also a let down. The filling was kind of hard which is weird for Nutella. I think we would give the other bear paw another shot, but this one was not great.

Patrick D

Was told by a friend to give this place a try and they didn’t disappoint! One of the popular pastries are their cinnamon buns and it was great! I ended up grabbing one of the garlic bread sticks and an almond croissant and a cup of coffee as well. Great place for a quick bite!

Chris B

We stopped here years ago and remembered it being great. Not so this time. Bought raspberry which chocolate scones - the white chocolate was preformed circles like you would use for melting to make candy - a bakery that can't even rough chop chocolate for scones? Oatmeal raisin cookies were dry and bland. Greatly disappointed but as the only bakery in town, I guess they don't need to try that hard.

Anita Hsieh

Sticky bun 5/5 Raspberry white chocolate scone 4/5 Being asked for 40¢ when asking for a to go cup for my Americano (it was ordered in a mug) 0/5

Jeff Lewis

I'm hesitant to leave poor reviews at places due to one employees actions. One employee was very friendly but another one was quite rude. I might come back, but it wasn't a great experience.

Aaron Zhang

Not sure what the hype is here - an average bakery by city standards, but I guess they're good by Jasper standards? Scones and pastries were OK, sausage rolls were mediocre, but sandwiches were good. Overall, not worth the long wait. Line moves frustratingly slow - the store was understaffed and the cashier was slow because it takes forever to scan his code, select the items, and set up the credit card machine.

phamwoaw

Ordered the soup of the day and paid. Soup given was not soup displayed. Ordered a latte for the bear picture online in the steamed milk no latte design at all. 90 percent sweet versus 10 percent savory baked goods. Wait in line to order! Everything you get is cold or room temperature. Wait in line to use industrial 7-11 style microwave to heat food. Food is good. Experiance is horrible... Ps. The sign says heat microwave number 3 for sausage roll. Sausage roll is too hot to eat after!

Tom Zychowski

Drink was well done I choose London Fog, selection was limited otherwise pleasant experience.

Brent Macklem

BP's is the only mandatory stop for my family in Jasper. They have an atmosphere to go with the amazing food. Now people be cool when you are there and it is super busy. They are not timmies. The quality is top rung and sorry to you if you don't know the difference. I love you GUYS!

Helena Biasibetti Brendler

Super busy place, all the tourists come here as did we. The selection of baked goods are amazing and they taste great as well. The staff didn’t seem so enthused and it took a while to understand how it worked but we got what we wanted quick. I would recommend taking out food because the place can get very busy, especially in the morning and there aren't that many seats available. I got the almond croissant and a latte and it tasted amazing! Would go there again.

Michael Rundell

I was pretty disappointed with the Bear Paw Bakery after seeing so many positive reviews. The wait was very long, so its obviously popular, but my raspberry scone was so dry and tasteless it was gross, and the coffee was nothing special. At least the sticky cinnamon bun was delicious

Brianna Morgan

Great bakery! I recommend going during their off hours, after lunch or later in the evening. We went around 11 am and the place was too crowded. We came back the next day around 5 pm and had the place mostly to ourselves. The white chocolate raspberry scones and the cinnamon rolls are amazing!

De66ee Gerrard

Having not been to Jasper for a few years, my daughter took me in for breakfast. Hands down the best bakery I have ever been too. Their showcase was full fresh baking, scones, muffins, almost anything you could think of and their coffee was also delicious. Beautiful little place with lots of seating, super clean and a very warm cozy atmosphere, I can't wait to try them for lunch. The staff were also fast and friendly, great combination anytime. I highly reccommend this place and from their continuous customers in the door, you know they're good! ????????☕️????

Carrie Rito

The food is always delicious. One of our favorite spots when we come to Jasper

Kevin Crisp

Great spot to grab a fresh coffee or expresso. With so.e fresh baked goods. Very yummy. Highly recommend.

Tyrell Scott

Decent coffee and a good selection of tasty pastries. The service was a little less than stellar unfortunately.

Samantha-Kay Foster

The extra star is because the staff were pleasant and one offered a refund when I told them the food was stale. I'm sad to write this but honestly the pastries and the coffee were dire. I asked if they were freshly baked because they tasted at least three days old. A raspberry white chocolate scone that was so dry and floury with no flavour, definitely stale, an almond croissant that was rock hard and tasted a bit of mould which I had to throw away, and I haven't actually eaten the little gorgeous looking pecan tart because I'm afraid I'll break a tooth after looking at the pastry properly. The latte was burned and bitter and the milk was overheated to the point it's taken over twenty minutes to be able to take a sip. It's such a shame because in a tiny town like this I'd love to be able to support them and I'm hoping maybe this was just a bad day but I can't believe that these were baked fresh within 24hours. After seeing the photos on the website I expected a decent coffee but unfortunately it wasn't even close to the marketing photos. The person behind me in the queue had the same experience with their food and drink. This is obviously a very popular spot with tourists but coming from Canmore it's hard to stomach a $20 bill for food and drink that I couldn't enjoy. I declined the refund as I don't think it's fair on the business as they still had to pay for the ingredients and staff time. If anyone reads this, please cover your pastries and use a thermometer for your milk steamer!

Ashley Lubold

Decent-alittle pricey-got a scone and chai tea....tea was good...scone somewhat dry-atmosphere is really cool though!!!

LAPG Family

We go camping in Jasper a lot, and our go to spot is the Bear’s Paw. The White Chocolate Raspberry Scones are amazing! We always pick up a pack to make them at home too. The Nanaimo Bars, Apple Streusels, and Sausage Rolls are also big favourites.

Peer Linder

Had a Roastbeef Sandwich and White Chocolate/Raspberry Scone for a total of C$ 11. Both were great.

Jacqueline Telljohann

We stopped in to get some dessert after an early dinner. They were closing shortly after we got there so they were running low on or were out of a lot of things. We split a rhubarb bar and a slice of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. The the rhubarb bar was really good. I would have liked more rhubarb and less topping, but it was still quite good. The cheesecake was a different story. It was the worst cheesecake I've ever had. There was a tiny bit of white chocolate on the end and it was topped with raspberry. The issue was the cheesecake itself. It was hard and dry. It tasted like a block of cream cheese that they got hardened and wasn't mixed with anything else. I might come back for another bar but definitely avoid the cheesecake.

Ashlee Begoray

Usually we love going and everything is perfect. Today there was no coffee left in the urns. So we asked for more. Then no milk or cream left. And the girl was super unfriendly.

Josh Yaworski

The baking is all amazing, never been disappointed with even a single choice. My favourite is the Greek loaf; olive oil, spinach, feta, oregano. Feeling tired? Get a red eye along side your bakery, get hyper caffeinated.

Peter Tran

I had kind of high expecations but was a bit let down. My latte was very bland and I didn't appreciate having to heat up our own purchased food items. The sticky buns and cheesy bread were good. The soup advertized was not the soup they were selling, they told us this AFTER our purchase. I love the idea of family owned small businesses that are hidden gems, this one had all the ingredients just failed with execution in a few areas.

Francisca Echeverria

Great place! We bought Nanaimo bar ????, cappuccino and turkey sandwich.

Evie E.

Great place to grab a cup of coffee, try one of their many baked goods and settle in for a good conversation! The Nanaimo bars are really good! Laid back, comfortable atmosphere.

Brenda Bell

Amazing place! I had a London fog latte and rhubarb square. Best square ever! Not too sweet but so soft and crumbly. I wish I would have taken a few others to go. A must stop for coffees and treats:)

Chris

We are now at the point of going first thing in the morning before skiing/hiking. We grab some fresh baking, breakfast sandwiches & coffee plus one of their delicious sandwiches to eat for lunch on the slopes/trails a few hours later. A wonderful treat. The line is almost always long in the morning, but it moves at a pretty good pace and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

phill goldstein

Cute bakery, tastey food. Overall the baked goods get a 4/5 as though they were good, they were a bit doughy. My favorite was the cinimon bun.

Damián C

Overhyped. Hot chocolate is dilute and tastes more like sugar milk. Some pastries are really good. Sandwiches are OK. Coffee is great. The thing is, the place is a bit of a must while in Jasper...

Kolin Clarke

Absolutely love Bear's paw bakery....always have breakfast there, fresh muffins and scones. Has breakfast sandwiches also and great coffee, tea selections. Go early to beat the morning rush.

I C

The service was very good and fast. They prepare sandwiches early in the morning and the ingredients are fresh. The portions are big, and pastries are decedent. Good coffee as well.

Freddy Beach BBQ

Great selection of pastries, muffins, cookies, sandwiches and breakfast items. Coffee was really good!

Llama Does

It’s worth the wait. We came through during the summer and will say it’s still one of my favorite places from our 12,000 mile road trip. Great quality and fresh pastries and muffins. Amazing coffee and tea selection. I’ll definitely be back. Ps. There is a to go window if you’re in a big rush.

Leanne Yang

I basically come here every time I'm in Jasper. They have the best assortment of desserts and baked goods to pair with your choice of beverage.

Colleen Cade

Stopped in yesterday morning to grab a loaf of bread - staff were kind & efficient. I also received THE BEST loaf of potato bread I have ever had in my LIFE. For real I’m still thinking about it… it was the stuff dreams are made of… fluffy yet dense… flavourfulI… ugh. I want to personally thank whoever bakes that bread - keep up the good baking. Forever wishing I lived in Jasper so I could eat that potato bread every day.

Juhi Baxi

Few veggie options. The soup is a bit tangy and had to adjust with cream. The salad trio was good.

Jennifer Hollman

I always look forward to stopping by here for fresh baked goodies and some great coffee. Their raspberry white chocolate scones and morning glory muffins are my absolute favourite! Get here early or you'll have slim pickings

IEatTravelWrite

Love this bakery! It's cute and they offer a great variety of products to choose from. Their baked goods were fresh and delicious. You can sometimes expect a lineup but it's totally worth the wait.

Chris Thompson

Great bakery, but can have long lines. Be aware that you can get need coffee, tea and naked goods from the express line on the outside of the building

Colleen Praill

Very disappointed. As a gluten free eater i look forward to hearing there is gluten free baked goods. We pay more and have very limited options. Not to mention looking at all the delicious selection of baked goods we can not have. I went to Other Bear Paw bakery, saw a list of all the different baked goods for gluten free. I made my mental list of the baked goods i would prefer to take home. Waited in line to be sent to the other bakery. At paw bakery i was informed only had macaroons. I felt Very cheated and frustrated for waiting my time. No muffins, no brownies, no bread!!!

Deidra Ferguson

There is a large variety of pastries. They taste very average and you have to heat or toast things by yourself with microwave and toaster that they provide you. The coffee (Fratello) also is not very tasty. Staff were friendly and the space was cute. A nice view of the mountains. I will likely not make an effort to go again though.

Sarah P-R

Eek. I ordered a latte with soy milk, and the total was over $9.00! I asked why it was so much for a coffee, and they upcharge for non-dairy milk by a $1.50. That's an unacceptable and unnecessary charge in 2021. For those who have dairy allergies, for those who are ethically vegan, for those who are lactose intolerant, or for those who simply do not want to consume dairy, that charge is discriminatory in an especially high-traffic tourist area. Non-dairy milk isn't an expensive delicacy. I may as well have gone to the nearby grocer, purchased my own non-dairy milk, and brought it with me for them to put in. At that price, I would have been ahead after only two coffees. I hope they consider making this change in the future.

Kaykaymacd

Ordered 2 lattes with syrup. Syrup was the grossest thing I’ve ever tasted. For the steep price the latte should be good. Couldn’t even finish my latte and I’m a tired mom who loves coffee.

Mike Marks

Location is ok. Favorite bread is Miette loaf. Most of the selection of breads were good that we tried over the years . Some of the treats were hit and miss. Muffins weren't our favorite. Cinnamon buns are good eatin fresh that day. Coffee is alright. Could almost use a bigger location.

Jonas Jochum

The bakery is amazing! Got the best coffee on my trip from Edmonton to Vancouver there and the muffins and cinnamon buns are sensational. Very friendly staff as well!

Eve Ouradou

Good dark roast coffee. Sticky bun was delicious. Tart and scone dry and had to warm up ourselves in microwave. Huge lineup and expensive too.

Xiaoying Huang

Pastries are good! Really love the strawberry tart. But I don’t really like my ice caramel macchiato.

Beth Baldwin

Great place to stop for a snack in Jasper! The homemade ice cream was good, but all of the baked goods looked - and smelled - incredible. It's usually busy, but worth the wait.

Amirali Ommi

This is the perfect place to start your day at jasper. Fresh baked goods and a wide range of drinks. They look also environmental aware

Natalie Zavaglia

Definitely a must see place! Super trendy, awesome baked good displays! The soup of the day (Sunday-Coconut Chicken) was Incredible. The bread items weren't awesome to me, but my husband loved the apple cranberry muffin! The picture is my "soup in a cup" so we could get back on the road! They serve awesome coffees, Mighty Leaf Tea, etc. Bathroom (yes one) was okay. At least it was a place "to go", but I still don't understand why restaurant establishments do not have superior bathroom cleanliness.

Nika

First time here. Staff was friendly. Had a caramel macchiato and the sticky cinnamon bun. Both were quite good. Definitely may make another stop before leaving town.

Deann Cable

A must-stop for me with every visit. Not so much the meals but a coffee and ANY of their baked goods. Cheese bun? YES. Macarons? YES. Cinnamon Roll? YES YES YES. Their cute touch of putting a chocolate covered espresso bean on every hot beverage is adorable. You’ll likely have to wait in line....but be patient. It’s a small shop in a small mountain town. Enjoy the wait. But if your wait is for the bathroom be prepared. There’s only one toilet in the place. You can always go a little further in town to the 2nd location. Little bigger, more seating, same wait but also same delicious food.

R o3738

Loved the high bran muffin, can be a little dry so get it with tea or coffee ☕

Kevin Mullett

It was okay. Nice little mom and pop bakery and I do love supporting a small business, but it was not an amazing bakery. I had a bear paw but it was not great. It was dry but it was flavorful.

Chad M

literally only ate 2 of the 8 things i bought, trashed the rest. i can’t comprehend why any bakery wouldn’t heat up food meant to be warm in a town full of hotels. vibe was absolutely awful, there’s other bakeries around to enjoy more.

Kelsey Arnold

EXTREMELY busy, but the staff was amazing and friendly. The Jasper blend coffee was excellent, as was the danish. The veggie sandwich I bought for later that day left quite a bit to be desired - it was mostly lettuce and a thin slice of cheese. All in all, go for the baked goods and coffee, stay away from the pre-made sandwiches (the fresh sandwiches at their other location are awesome!)

Ldensven

Good coffees. Date square was a generous size, moist and delicious. Save yourself from disappointment and skip their muffins. We tried the Apple Cranberry and the gluten free lemon blueberry. Both were dry and dense and ended up in the trash. I bought 3 of each. $20 I’ll never see again.

Jessica B

Most items were stale. The macaroon was too dry and hard to eat. It may have been good fresh.

Yulya Amal

We went this morning to Bear’s Paw and were thoroughly disappointed. The cafe was nicely decorated and super busy… the staff seemed overwhelmed with all the orders. We got the spicy sausage roll (which was semi frozen and had to use the microwave to warm it up), the cinnamon roll (which was stale and hard to bite into it) and the strawberry danish (which was okay but definitely not fresh). We also ordered 2 cappuccinos - by far the worst cappuccino I’ve ever had. So disappointing considering the prime location and all the positive reviews!

Kelly-Dawn Coster

I love this place. They have a great selection of delicious, locally roasted coffees, and they have an amazing array of fresh baked goods! Very cozy place with friendly staff! I always make sure to stop in, when I'm in town.

Mike Kinsella

Sticky buns to write home about!!! This is a stop we make everytime we come to town. Fantastic coffee as well.

Josen Media

Good good bread!

Mark Stockfisch

Some products are really good, other are of questionworthy quality. The apple square and the apple slice danish are awesome! The prices are fair too. The bread however isn't good. I guess they just don't know how to bake bread or don't have the equippment. It's a pretty fluffy, bland and white thing. Here I would recommend to hire a baker from France, Italy or Germany etc.

Brian Lam

cozy little cafe in jasper. I always make a point to visit here ever since i was introduced to this place. my go-to order is coffee and the white chocolate raspberry scone. very consistent and tasty. although the coffee isn't anything to write home about, its definitely not bad. scones are always moist and tasty, however a little dense. overall, great place and would recommend.

Alice Montague

The apple pie was edible but not really tasty. The chocolate cheese cake was awful we couldn't finish it, it was really salty. And we'll expensive but it's Jasper so...

hubtowndave

Good selection of sweets and treats, made fresh daily. There was quite a line up when we got there in the morning (not a bad thing), but staff were efficient and got everyone served promptly. Cinnamon bun was a meal in itself!

Lauren Castleman Slavik

Kim did an amazing job on our cake. We didn't have a specific design in mind, we just knew we wanted a mountain/hiking theme and she did it perfectly! The cake was delicious too. I would highly recommend ordering your wedding cake from Bear's Paw (and stopping by for breakfast and coffee).

Ben Berland

Wonderful little bakery/cafe. Great little place that serves pastries and wonderful food. Staff are very friendly. Awesome coffee. I always stop and get a coffee and a pastry.

Michel -

The pastries I had were very good, and the price is decent (Lemon square and Strudel square). Haven’t tried the rest however.

Amrita Nayak

A cute little place that offers some great baked goodies! I visited this place twice while I was on a 2 day trip in jasper. Everything here was fresh, delicious and light on the pocket too! There's plenty of parking available in a lot right across the street which makes it easier to grab and go real quick.

Bilal H

You cannot sell people 7$ lattes if you don’t know how to even make one. Sorry to say but mine went to The garbage. It’s also important to rinse the portafilter other wise you will re-extract the old coffee that was not cleaned out properly. place was cozy and staff was friendly. Just buy a coffee instead and don’t waste your money on specialty Burned milk and old coffee in dirty porta-filters.

Jennifer

Stopped here early morning on our way out of Jasper- so glad we did! Had the best raspberry and pumpkin scones, the coffee was great, and the prices were all good.

Y Wong

Freshly baked, delicious bread, buns and pastries in this charming little bakery. Service is quick and friendly. Pizza pretzel with jalapeños was tasty, as was the soft cinnamon bun. Coffee is good too! Highly recommended for a quick breakfast but be prepared to be spoilt for a choice.

Richard Rothery

A great selection of baked goods. Opens early for skiers/hikers planning a big day. Their Morning Glory muffin is a personal favourite.

Ben Fisher

Amazing bakery and coffee shop. I make a point of coming here every time we are in Jasper. I have tried multiple baked goods, sandwiches, coffees, etc. Everything has been wonderful. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Stopping by here before driving home or for breakfast every time I can <3

Ashley J

Delicious coffee & sticky cinnamon bun. Have to use the microwave to heat it up. The service was friendly. Lines were not too bad when we went (around 11am) - only waited for 10-15 minutes.

Taylor Kupchanko

This is a great bakery! We grabbed some treats for our trip back to Calgary and boy are we glad we did! Everything was so fresh, and the staff was friendly.

Sophie Wu

Visited around 8:30am and the lineup was not too bad. I love how the bakery is decorated. Due to COVID people are required to wear mask to enter the bakery and one person per family can enter (from their notice on the front door). The sticky cinnamon bun I bought was tasty and soft. Love it.

Dan Watt

I've enjoyed this spot for a few years now. I definitely like the original location better than the one on the main drag. Their baked goods are pretty consistent, as is their drip coffee. My only complaint is it is super expensive, even for Jasper.

Ken Kuo

Update September 2019: still my go to spot in town. In fact I can't think of another bakery I visited more frequent than this one, despite living 5 hours away. Favorite is spicy sausage roll & cheese sticks. But their product is baked on the spot so you can't go wrong with any. Pro tip: know the menu and order from the express window. This will easily save you 20 minutes of lining up in store. Awesome budget option in Jasper. Excellent food and drink.

Michael Z

I think this place is overated. We ordered muffins and squares of 5 or 6 kinds in total. And all of the taste just mediocre. But if you consider how much they charge for their pastry, I can only give it 3 stars. I get it it's a tourist town. But I expect higher price with good quality. Staff was quick and professional. However, I wouldn't recommend this place for the quality of food.

Randy Reyes

This is the best purveyor of baked goods in the area. Their sticky buns are my favorite. They have a wide selection from bread, cupcakes, danishes, sausage rolls, etc. Come in for a coffee and pastry before a day outdoors.

Vitali Stolpner

The cinnamon bun and apple strudel were just ok - the bun was heavy, dry, tasteless, and everything was served cold. Considering this is a bakery we were expecting much more. Also rather expensive for what it is - $20 for two coffees and two buns.

Lindsay Shearer

Spectacular - great coffee and home made scones. Sandwiches you can purchase and take for lunch at marmot. Highly recommend.

Myra Alward

I was so excited to try this place, and I don’t know if they were just having an off day, but after waiting in line for 20 minutes which I was fine, the coffee was burnt and undrinkable. We also got a few pastries and a sandwich, all of which were stale and tasted off. Hopefully, it was just an off day for the bakery, and next time I come, it’ll be a different experience!

Charlie Wang (CharlesLanding)

It’s always packed here in the morning! Really fresh and especially great was the cinnamon bun. Americano is also very strong. Prices are beyond fair and came here multiple times during our time in Jasper. 10/10

Wesley Littke

Absolute best cinnamon sticky buns I've ever had. Lots of selection for drinks and baked goods. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Does not disappoint, if you're in Jasper you have to stop here.

Cristina Hunter

Such a nice cozy cafe to come to after a chilly hike in Jasper! I got the veggie sandwich and some coffee and both were good. Next time We're hiking in Jasper we will definitely stop by!

Melissa Hanley

Nice selection of baked goods, and some different flavors not usually seen in bale shops, like chocolate mint cake. We picked up a jalapeño pretzel bun, monster cookie, and peanut butter pecan balls. The pretzel bun was our favorite of the three, but was more like a pizza bun because it didn't have that chewy pretzel texture we expected.

Delicious pastries! The line can get long, but it moves quickly. There’s an express line for orders of 5 items or less if you know what you want. Cinnamon buns and scones were our favorites

Dani

Unfortunately haven't been able to get to Bear's Paw Bakery since 2019 because of Covid, but I have been there at least 4 times in the past and it is always wonderful. Their products from their scones to their cheese buns to their sausage rolls are all incredibly delicious and perfect for eating on the spot or bringing back to the campsite to eat around the campfire. I can't wait until I can go again and have a white chocolate raspberry scone (easily the most delicious item on the menu in my opinion!)

John Ellison

Many tasty pastries and coffee. Hot coffee comes with chocolate covered espresso beans! Great way to start the day before exploring Jasper National Park.

Vijay Shivdasani

We thought we would get some muffins or burgers for brunch around noon. But most of the savory items seemed to be over and we got to try some cheesecake and a spicy sausage roll. We ordered some latte coffee too. The taste was OK but nothing exceptional. Next morning we thought we would go down for an early breakfast, but there was already a long queue of people waiting their turn. The bakery seems to be quite popular in Jasper and is always crowded. They serve quite a good variety of items like croissants, buns, muffins, pastries, cakes, scones and a variety of coffees and hot chocolate. They have very limited seating inside and most tourists prefer to take-away. Prices are very reasonable.

Bruce White

Great place for fresh baked items...really enjoyed our visit

Live your Life

Taste:4/5 Price:$-$$ Service:3/5 Fair tasting pastries. Would be better if the pastries were warm as they are …

Ziggy

Great pastry, but hot chocolate and coffee was terrible.

HEY TIA

I love their bakery. Must try: Bear's paw, morning glory, raspberry scone

Oliver Kiderle

We may have expected too much, but it was mostly sweet pastries and the sandwiches they had were all on white toast. The drinks were ok but not close to the white-on green mermaid unfortunately. Staff was nice, but very stressed even with few customers and confused my order with that of someone else.

Anahid saadatmand

Don’t waste your time for line up. The food was just okay. Nothing special. But here is the real kicker... staff is just outright rude, no social distancing measures are implemented dispute them having rules to social distance. I asked for soy milk and the cashier gave me the cartoon to do it myself. And they have their own self serve coffee without providing sanitizer to everyone for the service they are providing. So if your looking for a coffee better go to a Tim Hortons for better taste and save your money!

Spencer Brown

A must stop! Lovely staff, good menu with lots of options. The café was great to sit in and get off our feet for a few minutes. We got some fun photos of the quirky décor and had some delicious treats!

Ted Ayles

One extremely good bakery. Everything we had was fresh and tasty at a good price point. We were in Jasper for 3 nights and went here twice, it was so good. Best sausage roll I ever had, no grease slick and really tasty. Baked goods are excellent.

Martial K

Probably the best bakery after 2 years in Canada. Friendly staff, good coffee and house made sandwiches, the pastries are really tasty. You can even buy the recipes book! I wish I could have this bakery in Toronto...

Jess Collins

Really yummy cinnamon scrolls. Sausage rolls, tarts, scones and coffee are all good too. Expect a line, but it moves pretty quickly. Don't expect a seat unless you're lucky.

Rand Tashman

Me and my husband had 2 decaf latte's a Raspberry Scone and pastry. The food was good but service need to work on

Irtaza Tahir

Tldr: an amzing bakery to get breakfast/ pastries. Their breads and coffee were meh. …

Dominika Milvich

Overrated... the cinnamon rolls that they are famous for were sold out since 10am, the chocolate muffin that I got instead was very average. We ordered large lattes, got small ones. And they were not particularly good.

Kristy Higginbotham

We had breakfast here every day the week we stayed in jasper. The sausage rolls and cinnamon roll were both good and the coffee delicious! We liked this place better than the Other Paw bakery

Florian Sellier

- prices not displayed - Organisation need to be reworked, the process is very complicated and ineffective.

Jennifer H

Fantastic baked goods and excellent coffee...service is good but through covid WAY too many people in the shop at the same time...scary

Ilia Bakhmoutski

Ok food, bad service. I got a cider and it came boiling hot in a paper coffee cup with no warning from the guy on how hot it was. So I burnt my mouth pretty bad. I had to wait about 20 minutes before I could even try it and then it was just sweetened water (probably a dry mix, not a real cider).

Olivier Giguère

This is the best place to get pastries and coffee before heading out on a big hike! So good that we came all 3 of the mornings we stayed in Jasper. Lots and lots of variety and we tried a bunch of stuff which was all amazing! Can't recommend enough.

Thomas Quiring

Great coffee in flavour and many options to choose from. We had the Rhubarb Square and our mouths dropped with each bite. I don't know what they're doing to make them so dang good, but I hope they will continue to do it. Would highly recommend.

Joel Mosier

This place was great. A good assortment of breakfast items as well as several typesof coffees. Good, fast service. Friendly staff. They wore masks.

Victoria Williscroft

We visited twice when we were in Jasper over the long weekend. Of course the lines look longer then necessary due to COVID distancing. It is a bit confusing where to line up, they have a take away window that someone mans sometimes but …

Gary Kuiken

Great little bakery Cafe to get a lunch or breakfast. Open very EARLY and I mean early. Lots of goodies and good coffee ☕ ????.

Ilia Blank

We took 3 different sorts of bakery. All was dry. All was just not good. I was sorry we didn't go to Tim Hortons

Tamen Ewasiuk

After reading reviews I stopped in for a bakery treat and OMG was it amazing! On another level of good! Will stopped in for more on my way out of town and for sure every time I might visit Jasper again!

Charlotte Dyer

I went by for a treat, I’m a bit skint so grabbed a bag of yesterday’s pastries. 4 muffins, 1 chocolate pastry and an apple slice in a bag for $6.75. Everything except the apple slice is incredibly dry - its only 1 day old, but it’s like eating sand. I don’t even know how to make a muffin that dry! The apple slice looks very stodgy. I’m not usually fussy and hate wasting food, but most of it was inedible. It really shouldn’t be that bad after 24 hours. I have had a small spinach loaf from there and it was ok, very expensive though.

Ben Thompson

Great bakery feel and friendly staff. Sweet and savoury scones both good. Pretzel pizza a good car snack. Nanaimo bar very disappointing and not worth having- just three different textures of sugar. Croissants do not have all butter texture or taste.

Ad Ez

Had a custom cake done. It was VERY dry (literally crumbled in my hands when we cut it). It tasted like the cardboard box it was sitting on. They also made a marble cake instead of a chocolate, but discount me for the mistake. Will not use this place for cakes again

Nathan Johnston

Extremely poor walk in service, zero hot food left at midday at both locations, and the only bakery in town. This is a repeat of 2015, no hot food at all... Pretty disappointed as this bakery is literally the only one in town and leaves you with no other options, talk about monopoly.

Chris Knorr

Fantastic sticky cinnamon buns! Really good coffees, teas, Etc. Not sure if they were checking the dine-in patrons vaccination status carefully. But tough to do that..

Star Light

Great Nanaimo Bar but coffee was bitter and chai latte had no chai flavour until you hit the bottom.

Kelsie

This place has some of THE BEST baking I have ever had. Hands down. If you're here, try the bear paw. Yum! The soup is also delicious. And the best chai latte I have ever had came from here. You will almost definitely have to wait in line, but the time waiting is worth it!

Brooke Zaik

Always a line up here for a reason, the baked goods are amazing and I love their London fogs so much! We never skip Bear's paw when visiting Jasper!

Mathew Wagner

Great selection of baked goods, everything tastes awesome! Only reason I gave it 4 stars though is the fact that you have to use a microwave if you want anything warmed up, to me, it kinda defeats the purpose. Otherwise great place!

Ayman Abu Said

Everything baked they sell is amazing. My favorites are: jalapeno pizza pretzel (savory), raspberry white chocolate scones and cinnamon rolls (sweet). The coffee is okay. I haven't tried any sandwiches. We pass by every time we are in Jasper!

Trina Richards

There was a huge line up out the door so we thought it must be good. The coffee was good but my croissant was so stale it crumbled on the first bite. Not good pastry crumbly, dry crumbly. And tasted stale. I brought it to the front and …

P N

2 stars for lack of care and cleanliness on Saturday nov 21 2020 morning by the two men working whereas Friday afternoon with the young lady was a great experience. Food is always great the 4 yrs we've been here but the guys working there this morning let the bakery down! Dropping food many times and putting them back on the rack.... not paying attention to orders. Dumping many pieces of food in tiny bags...etc appalling. Management should ensure service is consistent. Otherwise a 3 to 4 stars for food. DO SOMETHING OR YOU'LL LOSE CUSTOMERS

Roberta Kehler

Pastries, soups and coffees are all de-lish!...if a bit pricey. I know it's Jasper but $3 for a scone? Of course the raspberry/white chocolate scone just might be worth it. Sandwiches? Save your money! I have tried their sandwiches three times and each was an over-priced and tasteless disaster.

Isabel Pereira

Honestly we were disappointed this time around. When I greeted the server, she said nothing in return. My husband told her it was for here but she put our drinks in paper cups instead of ceramic (I understand this is probably because of COVID but she could have told us when we said "for here"). She took our pastry order and at the cash she had to ask us what we had ordered...my latte was so sweet, and finally the heat was pumping out on our heads making our time very uncomfortable. Oh, and my white chocolate raspberry scone had those whole giant white chocolate chips in them; not melted, not chopped, just a big ol' baker's chip. Not what I look for in a scone.

jojogebo

We had a coffee, a cappuccino and a rasberry scone to go and everything was delicious.

Robert Zheng

Would return just for the sausage roll. It's only at this location. For $2.80 you get a tasty snack, buttery pastry, slight spice, lots of mince. Very happy. Coffee is par. They make your Americano fresh, properly, using espresso and hot water.

Tracy Taylor

Fantastic customer service!!!!! And great products. I emailed from Ontario looking to have some chocolate dipped strawberries and vegan treats delivered to our daughter who was travelling and spending one night in Jasper. Kimberly answered my email right away and made it all happen. The treats arrived before her and made for a great cross country surprise.

Mark Wood

Had the big bad wolf sandwich. The sandwich was ok, but the bread was tough.

Jolyn Hyrich

Nothing special. There are two in town, one on Patricia Street and one on Pyramid Road. Went to Patricia street one Friday at 4 and they were very unfriendly. I thought maybe this was because they were trying to close (they close at 6) but that is unlikely because a passenger train had just landed across the street and this made the bakery busy. We had the raspberry scone and espresso brownie. Both were average at best. Tried the Pyramid Road location on Sat a.m.. Again, the service is pretty poor. I had the sticky cinn bun which was good warmed up in the microwave. I wanted a flat white but the specialty coffees are way over priced ($5.50 for a small). Both locations good have good seating. There was a lot of variety at the pyramid road location. I walked by Friday night after they closed and could see through the window that they had more items available than the Patricia street spot did.

Jessica Worsley

Always an incredible selection and such a fun atmosphere. Good pastries and coffee. My favourite stop everytime we are in Jasper. The one MUST stop!

Calvin Tse

Amazing treats and a super homey feel to the staff and atmosphere. Great coffee and incredible value. Highly recommended :)

Sam Mohamed

Very disappointed in service and the baked goods. Had the famous raspberry white chocolate scone and it was dry and hardly any chocolate. Then asked for a plain croissant and if he could slice the middle. He mangled it so badly couldn’t even eat it. Not worth the hype for sure.

Melinda Simar

Veggie sunrise sandwich and the banana loaf were delicious! Bran muffin and maple Danish were also good.

Anna Faulds

I normally would rank a 5 star except the macaroon I ordered was disgusting. Scones and date squares were awesome as usual. I always look forward to including Bear's Paw in my visits to Jasper.

Ryan Chichak

This is a must when in Jasper!!! Five stars are not enough for this place. Espresso and a wide variety of custom baked goods. Their pizza pretzels make for a meal and a good lunch on a day hike. Don't miss out and go early they sell out fast.

Anita Gordon

Service was quick despite a long line up. They had Greek dolma for sale which I decided to try, and I must say they were great! I am Greek and white picky, and these were surprisingly delicious. I've dropped a star because the lemon ice tea …

Robert Chambers

We located the Bear Paw bakery while on two week road trip through Alberta and British Columbia. The Bear Paw has the highest quality baked goods and customer service. We only wish we lived closer to enjoy going there more often.

Anthony Mancini

Would have ordered a couple things if I wasn't ignored by the staff. I was standing there discussing what this one sweet was that was not labelled. Staff was working right in front of me. No acknowledgement or response. I might as well have been invisible. When we tried to speak to another employee he kept walking and ignored us. You're gonna lose sales by not greeting and acknowledging your customers.

Robyn Dicken

Underwhelmed. It was mad busy and there's no kind of system in there (especially with covid) so it's a bit of a disorganized mess with people everywhere. The bakery part looked good but what we ordered wasn't too great so maybe it all looks better than it tastes but can't really comment on that. Recommend skipping this place and going somewhere else.

Veronica E

The jalapeño pizza pretzels NEVER disappoint!! Such a vastly improved, peaceful experience with restrictions of ten people at a time in the shop, too!! Highly recommend. The wait isn't too great even if the lineup seems long.

Salma Bakr

Loved the chocolate croissant and the sticky cinnamon bun but wasn’t impressed with the bear paw. The pastries are fairly priced but the lattes are super expensive.

Chopper Tom

We always make a point to stop here as it is the only cinnamon bun that rivals my mothers. Big ups to the White chocolate scones. Coffee is good but nothing special. The cafe is usually pretty busy and crowded near the coffee area. My comment to the owner would be to ask patrons to wait elsewhere, as it can become quite hectic trying to heat up a breakfast sandwich and fix your own coffee while multiple people are standing in your way. I am sure in summer months they add patio seating, but I tend to frequent more for skiing than in the summer. The existing veggie and sunrise breakfast sandwiches are lacking. My suggestion to the owner would be to use your delicious croissants to there potential and add a breakfast sandwich using the croissant and bacon!!! Where is the bacon??? You can thank me later for this;) My only other comment is that my dog who will eat everything including his own poop will not touch your dog treats ... I am not sure what to make of this except, that I called to get the ingredients and your listed phone number is not in service:( 4/5

Ryan Selby

$$$$ but awesome. Good coffee and better baked goods EDIT: minus 2 stars. DO NOT BUY THE COOKBOOK! Major waste of money. Recipes are unorganized and incomplete. Some require professional baking equipment the size of a bathtub to complete and some just don't work at all. Overall appearance of a grade 4 book report. Doesn't specify the units of measurements either. Boo urns.

June baby

Yuck! Worst food ever. Worst coffee ever. Too bad I had it as takeout for the car because after spending $38 I had to throw it all out and could not go back to demand a refund. Scones were rock hard. Could not bite into them. My veggie sandwich on a Kaiser roll turned to be some kind of omelet with a few veggies inside the egg on stale bun worthy of a discount airline meal. The soup --something corn -- turned out to be what comes out of a Campbell's can - undiluted - cream of broccoli, but off. They gave it to go in a coffee cup! Smelled so bad I had to leave by the side of the road soon as it was opened. My coffee - decaf - which was an expresso Americano -- was literally light brown water and lots of grinds floating and at the bottom. Undrinkable. The rest of what I bought was passable - turkey sandwich and some tarts. Worthy of a hospital cafeteria not a good quality bakery.

Doris Liu

Their morning glory muffins are sooooo good!

Jamal Wallace

Not worth the lineup. We’ve been coming here for over 15 years and since it’s sold, the quality has gone with it. The menu no longer has new items. The customer service is horrendous and with Covid, it’s worse. Sad to say as it was a place we looked forward to visiting and taking/meeting friends at.

Great place to start the day. Was our first morning in Jasper and we decided to break our fast at Bear’s Paw. We ordered a Bear Paw which I believe was a cinnamon roll in a more bread pastry. We got the one with raisins. Simply lovely. We got a sandwich too and two cups of coffee. Love the ambiance of this cafe. There are also bread which are a day old on sale. As it was stale, it was good for our soup for dinner.

A must visit when in Jasper! My wife and I visited in August 2019 and we went every day for either breakfast or lunch for 3 days. There is a great choice of bakery items, drinks and a soup of the day which was delicious when we had the Chicken Thai Soup.

This is probably one of the best bakeries I have ever been to in my life. Apple Danish is amazing.

Mi Be

Nice baked goods. Coffee is an acquired taste here. Not for me. Service is good.

Kassandra Kennedy

Awesome little shop. Got a danish, scone & coffee.AMAZING.

Matthias

this place seems quite a bit overrated to me => best place for breakfast in Jasper? --> when they sell you frozen sausage rolls which you should heat up in a microwave?? pastries were ok but also nothing special, +1* Star is for the coffee which was good in all fairness!

Aaron Braddy

Reasonably priced. Nice staff. Cheese straws, sausage rolls, bear paws and tarts were all delicious. Coffee good too!

Mala Gautam

Wide variety of sandwiches and morning breakfast options. Coffee is available too. If you want a quick breakfast or keep your lunch packed with you for afternoon trips, then this is a good place. Service is super quick. This place has old bakery vibes and will transport you to different times.

October 1st I went into the bakery and stated two major allergies, eggs and nuts. The guy working the counter gave a list of suitable foods that did not contain egg but had nuts. I repeatedly asked for no eggs and nuts, double checking each item, settling on the hummingbirdbread and a few other items for myself. My bf started eating the hummingbird bread and noticed something was off. I called and another person informed me theres pecans in the bread. Now we will have to be by the hospital instead of hiking as we had planned. You could have killed someone! Train your staff properly on allergies!

Love , love, love the White chocolate raspberry scones. Had to get my fix before leaving Jasper.

My spouse and I spent the weekend in Jasper and went to the Bears Paw Bakery on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we had a cinnamon bun, latte and cafe mocha. The cinnamon bun was fabulous. The two coffees were horrible. You could barely taste any coffee. The place was packed so we just wrote it off as problem due to the number of customers. We returned on Sunday to again order a cinnamon bun, mocha, and a cappuccino. They were out of cinnamon buns so we ordered a date square, and a apple strudel. Both of the baked goods were okay. The mocha was so weak my spouse went back to ask for some additional espresso. They poured something into her cup but it wasn’t espresso and it it didn’t taste any better. My cappuccino tasted like a watered weak latte. The bakery was not busy, so we’ve concluded they should sell their espresso machine to someone who can actually use it. Summary: cinnamon bun - 5 stars, other baked goods - 3 stars, espresso based coffee - 0 stars.

Actually quality bread. Had the bran muffin and small loaf of cheddar and spinach. Totally filled me up and satisfied. Would eat again

We hired Bear Paw to create our wedding cake. The cake was delicious but I was disappointed that our cake wasn't placed on the stand that we had provided. I understand it is wedding season and it's a busy time, but I didn’t appreciate being given multiple reasons as to why the cake stand wasn’t used due to prior experiences with brides, rather then contacting me prior to resolve the issue. Although I was pleased with the cake and our guests enjoyed the cake as well, I didn't enjoy being given reasons why the job wasn't completed leaving me disappointed in the overall service.

Got iced latte made with soy milk very good and a big size for the price. Cinnamon rolls are delicious, chewy with lots of filling. Great place for a good price.

Victor S

Had a pretty average experience here. I'm not sure what the hype is about. Tried several items including the sticky buns, sausage rolls, cheese sticks and the sandwiches. The sticky buns and cheese sticks were pretty good but nothing to write home about. Was disappointed in the sandwiches, they were very basic and not worth it. The sandwiches and subs at Nesters or Tags are much better. I felt the iced coffee drinks were overpriced too (over $7 for an iced caramel macchiatto!)

Scott Baker

Great little hidden gem. There was a wide selection of baked goods and friendly staff. This is a great local gem and a must visit. The coffee is ok but the best part of this place is the fresh baked goods....not to mention you are suporting local businesses.

chen offer

Overated Bakery, we ate some good tarts, but the other bakes weren't nothing special (the 2 stars because we had high expetations because its rated so high in here). A bit pricy too.

Manjit Singh

Probably my favourite place In jasper! Amazing baked goods ( I had a killer rum ball) and great coffee. Nice scenery and a pleasemt buzz of ambience

Absolutely racist profiling of a customer by one of the employees. Literally a store full of customers, and the only person of colour in the location has his bag searched. Despite two seperate people who work there claiming that searching customer bags is not a practice that is allowed in their store. The owner then tries to claim that it's not racism. Despite the fact that one of her employees violated store policy, and searched the only person of colour in the store. This is absolutely despicable, and unless they are prepared to remove the employee who did this, and make a public apology from the owner, about the racist conduct that occurred in their store, they've just lost a customer who's been going there for years. Absolutely shameful conduct.

Arrived at the store at 5.57pm. They were still open but closing at 6pm. I had barely looked at the selection that was left on the shelf when the cashier asks me, "Are you going to buy something? We're closing" So I quickly made my order. She was very rushed, did not even bother to be polite in the least. I got peanut butter pecan balls. They were good. The raspberry tart was nothing fantastic.

Thomas Sypkes

This bakery is a great place to stop for your coffee to go or to stop and have a scone or cinnamon bun. I really enjoyed their tomato bisque soup, and cinnamon bun. Great location, great service, I look forward to my next visit.

George

Outstandingly poor. Just bought a sausage roll, a couple of pastries and 2 coffees. Sausage roll was actually half frozen!! Pastry was pretty lacking in filling and coffee is not their specialty. Also very expensive. Avoid

The baked goods here are decent, had a good cheese stick once, but this place desperately needs a new ordering system. Standing in line for 15 minutes to only order a coffee is ridiculous. Maybe reverse the line up so instead of paying at the end, customers pay first and then wait for food? That would make the most sense. Also had the veggie sunrise sandwich once and it was terrible. Strongly recommend against that.

Nicole Marshall

Great coffee and baked goods! Always very busy, but with the wait in line. Definitely check it out for breakfast, or a sweet treat!

Manjodh Banwait

Make sure you come early! Definitely worth it. I got the sticky cinnamon bun, veggie sandwich, cheese stick, jalepeno pizza bun, spicy sausage roll, strawberry danish, blackberry cream danish, and a ham sunrise breakfast sandwich as well as some lattes. There's a microwave on the side so make sure you microwave the food before you eat it but great fresh local Bakery. A must visit in Jasper!

AUDRA YARMUCH

WORST SERVICE OF ALL TIME! Our second visit in a row with very poor service. The previous visit my cousin got yelled at for placing her order. It was appalling. In a rush to get home yesterday, and didn't know where else to stop for a latte. This time the girl behind the counter literally rolled her eyes when we politely asked for a green tea latte. Also, my 12 year old daughter wanted to make a purchase by herself, and we again got another giant eye roll. Twice in a row with the same unbelievably poor service is totally ridiculous!! NEVER going back!!!!

Ichigo Ryu

Overhyped. Service was terrible. I had ordered a chocolate muffin...and got a cranberry muffin. When I pulled out the muffin with my hands...and asked if I had the right one...and person was at least nice enough to exchange it for the correct one. But...she put back the one that I had just touched back into the food display case. That is definitely not hygienic. Hopefully I do not get sick (nor do others) Quality of the products were lackluster. They were either dry or lacking in flavor. I would highly suggest another bakery...heck why not Timmies. At least the quality will be similar.

Shenara Pfiefer

This my favourite cafe in jasper. The bakery is delightful and the atmosphere is homey and welcoming. You can tell the employees really care. Definitely a must each time we visit Jasper

Jenna Ross

This place was very busy when we arrived and it's not hard to see why. We got a cinnamon bun, jalapeno and cheddar scones, cheese buns, veggie pockets and the tomato soup and it was all delicious. Limited seating but oh so good! Great to grab and go when you want to get on the road.

Lloyd Zilinski

Mighty fine baked goods. Friendly staff and delicious bakery items. Good place to pick up a snack or a treat.

Julie Manns

Overrated. Soup and Cinnamon bun were good but that's it. We didn't like the bread we bought nor the pizza (too weighty Dough). Plus the service was slow and unfriendly, just felt as i annoyed them.

Katia Garcia

Nice place. Excellent coffee and desserts

Robert Pettifer

Excellent selection and, good quality, tasty food. The cinnamon buns are a MUST! The sandwiches and sausage rolls were great and perfect to take out for a day of hiking. A little slow on the payment during the morning rush however worth the wait...

Kim Hartley

Great coffee and cinnamon buns. Nice staff and a quick stop for a sugar boost on your way to enjoy Jasper Parks great outdoors.

Jessica Tipay

Love the drink and their washroom!! I hope I could come back soon!

Sam Knopp

Normally a must while in Jasper but today had pretty poor customer service with the attendant telling me I just had to pick a coffee and go when I wanted to try one of three brews. There was us and one other customer in the shop at the time. Still nice muffins and not bad coffee. Recommend going in the off-season when staff are less stressed for a nicer cafe experience.

Eric Sparrow

Great coffee, amazing fresh baked items. Awesome way to start a day in Jasper.

Skylar Dunning

Cute little bakery. Good selection of self serve coffee. Had a nanaimo bar, which was delicious. We were there mid-afternoon on a weekday, and most of the tables were taken by retired people chatting over coffee, which is always a good sign in my books as it probably means the coffee is affordable and good!

Steven Soanes

Okay not great, the bear paw I had was a little dry and service was also lacking here. However plenty of options to choose from ..

Andy JellyBean

Overpriced and mediocre. No longer serve take out without passport as well.

Andréanne Dubé

Went there 3 days in a row. Really good coffee, but the highlights were the cinnamon bun and the raspberry and white chocolate scone, which I highly recommend.

Cheryl Goncalves

I was recommended this bakery and I MUST pass along the recommendation. The cinnamon rolls are THE BEST!! Staff is amazing: friendly, open and treated us like long time customers. Sending along a friend who will be in Jasper soon. Thank you!

Sherif Moawad

Food is great. Need to get up early as I was there at 9 am and still missed out on the cheese loaf and some of the danishes. Still lots of options. French loaf was great. So was cinnamon buns, cheese sticks, sausage rolls, etc... Their sandwiches are standard in my opinion. Overall, a great Bakery!
