I stumbled upon Aline's Tea Shop as I was looking for a place to have some lunch and do a little work. I called ahead to ask if they have Wifi, and they do (the password is written on a little chalkboard propped up behind the counter). This place is decorated beautifully, and has good vibes - you'll want to spend time here. Martine was behind the counter today and was so personable and helpful - fantastic service! The owner, Claudette, is a beautiful person who considers her shop as a meeting place where customers are family, and she has certainly realized her vision. She regularly chats with patrons and genuinely cares about their experience. Her shop is named after her grandmother, and her framed photo is up on the wall above the large windows facing the street. :) Plenty of seating (including a longer table in the back, should you need a quieter space), and Claudette tells me that she will be starting meditation nights on Tuesdays, and they offer other events as well (tea and painting, etc). And the food was sooo good - all homemade - try the chicken dumpling soup and the double-chocolate avocado cookies! Her sign says Tea Shop, but rest assured they do carry coffee - Moja Coffee Roasters, to be exact - a company based in the North Shore in Vancouver. I tried both the dark roast (Sumatra) as well as the French Roast as per Claudette's recommendation. Both great cups of coffee. Next time, tea! Do yourself a favour and visit Aline's Tea Shop.
