The Manakeshs here are one of the best in the city; they are either pre prepared or baked to order, in either case they are always tasty and fresh, not stale. As for the shawarma sandwiches, they are alright; nothing fancy as I had better shawarma before from the same place for a family feast. I come to realize that it’s either a hit or miss which is acceptable. The place went through many changes, decoration wise, over the past few years when I used to visit it on/off switching from a grocery store to a cafe then to a mix of both with a shawarma stand. I believe the owners are always reinventing themselves looking for the right mix that can work for their business and their clients.

Golden bakery, which they recently serve Shawarma as well is a great place for small grocery shopping and have different kind of breads, deserts and middle Eastern stuff as well. They are so friendly, they carry different products fr middle east and they have Halal foods and products for whom have concerns about it. By the way their shawarma was awesome I liked it. This place have small parking lot available for customers for free located right inside the plaza or the place. I recommend that place to go and give a try there. Thank you,

Well I dont write many reviews but this place is just horrible, where do I start. Customer service is completely trash, the place is so unorganized. I was waiting for 15 mins to order a shawarma. The guy behind the counter no matter how close I got to the counter he was just avoiding eye contact so I dont order. The new owners are are bad at management, the owner was there flirting with these ladies for the whole time I was there and ignored the rest of us standing there. Look out for mold in the bread! One of the worst places in halifax.. Shame on you Golden Bakery.

Its Ok as the 3 stars indicates. Customer service is great and the staff members are friendly and can offer assistance if you are uncertain about what to order. The place is clean and things are displayed nicely. The food: I was not impressed with the chicken shawrma nor the beef manoush. Fatayr is better option I think. I did not try the cakes or the cookies so I can not comment on that. Price: Menu items are priced fairly..

They raise their prices and lower the quality for all products. Halloumi cheese was one of my top picks. They make me hate it because they up there price by $2 that is more than 30% of its original price and reduced the amount of cheese (there’s a cheese taste to be honest) It was one of my favorite spots. Now I totally don’t recommend it.

their desserts aren’t as good as they used to be, now it just feels like eating a block of butter and no flavour. Also tried their shawarma sandwich and first time was great but then they got a new person that has no clue how to make an authentic wrap. Not what it used to be anymore sadly, even the way they put the pita bread on the floor like it’s trash is just wrong!

A lovely place to get warm freshly out of oven Pita breads, Iranian bread and bread loafs/buns. It has become one of my favourite go to place in Halifax-Bedford for fresh breads. The cookies and other labenese deserts are also worth trying. Do give a try to freshly prepare Zatar and beef pita bread, they are full of mouth watering mediterranean and labanese flavours.

REAL FRAUD!!! Overcharging and Selling Expired stuff! The new owners, the Iranian man and his wife are overcharging all the time!!!! Always ask for detailed bill and doublecheck the total cost by yourself!!!! Each time you are paying for couple of items they add extra $5 to10 to your bill as hidden fee or overcharged one item in the middle in a way that customers never notice. Once they overcharged me extra $8 and when I asked for the bill they didnt provide (made an excuse that machine is not printing). Also most of their stuff are expired Specially Doogh drink. He (the owner) charged me 4 times more than real price for his expired doogh. Oh DAMN he is removing the expiry date of his stuff specially Doogh by alcohol from the containers and is still selling those expired ones. Never ever go back to Nasty Black Bakery.
