My fiancee and i headed into springhouse feeling already elated. I had been stressed about my suit for our quickly approaching wedding as I had made the mistake of ordering from indochino and they've been steadily messing up my suit ever since but on this day I had decided that I was going to get a properly made suit from Vogue Tailors on Gottingen and try to recoup my losses from my error later. I walked in here after my fitting with the elation of that stress being off my shoulders, knowing Nick is making a perfect suit, to try springhouse for the first time.
Let me tell you the food is amazing! We are both vegetarian so dining out is often limited choices but the food here is all plant-based. The space has a fresh and clean modern look to it, and the menu appeared to have ample selection. We opted to order take-out as my fiancee suggested we drink gin and I'd have to bring the car home so I ordered the noodle bowl and a loaded baked potato and the ordered the same potato and a rice and been wrap. A few minutes later they packaged the food up for us and we were on our way. The broth for the noodle bowl was packaged separately for take out so my food was perfect when I got home. The potato was a great consistency with great flavour and it has coconut bacon on it which, if you've never had it, tastes like coconut. It hit the spot and my fiancee enjoyed hers as well. The noodle bowl was terrific! The veggies were fresh and crisp, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was delicious and hearty. The menu said umami and I definitely got that but I would add that heat was a prominent flavour note as well. The mushrooms in the broth were great as well. My fiancee enjoyed hers, but once she tried mine she said mine was better. I didn't try hers.
Pricewise springhouse is less than En Vie and the food is different but comparable in quality. All our food was under $40 before tip!!! I'll be back and likely I am going to make this one of my lunch spots at work, too bad my dear fiancee will miss out.
