We've got all the opinions of people like you who are consuming the products and services of Sobeys Queen Street (Bakery) in the territory of Halifax (Canada).
Nowadays the business receives a score of 4 out of 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is quite high, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the assessment is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Bakery is included in the category of Grocery store.
I enjoy the new layout. However, they now routinely understaff the registers, expecting people to check themselves out. This often causes extensive delays during checkout. In some instances it can be an upward of a 20 minute wait. …
Google maps misled me today by showing this branch open on Easter Sunday! Updating the post on 2021 Jun 22nd: Jessica who works in deli gave me free a pack of free burger paddies because I spent more than ten dollars. Her behavior and responsibility to her customers is astonishingly amazing. Hiring such a great expert means a lot to the Sobey's customers. I'm giving five stars today hoping her manager sees this.
Place itself is so clean but price are soo high
It's frustrating how frequently cashiers can forget to apply promotions and discounts. Always check your receipt before leaving.
They're currently in renovations. This means items aren't really organized throughout the store and there's an awkward entryway.
I found almost everything I was looking for. I loved that everything is in order and looks fresh ❤️. The flowers are beautiful. I highly recommend it.
Prices are consistently higher than the neighbouring Atlantic Superstore..
Wow! I can't believe it. This grocery store is tottaly off the chain. It has all the vegetables I need (including brocoli) and it has a decent selection of canned pasta sauces
Currently under construction but fast and friendly service.
Prices are pretty good, but the store itself is kinda grungy and the produce especially is not the best. Good for one-stop stocking up on essential grocery and household items. Get your meat and produce elsewhere. Maybe the superstore on Barrington is better...
Sobeys is always nice but I like the fact u can get your vacations there 2
Saw a flock of birds eating away at fruit as a worker just watched, found it funny but check the food before buying it! Young staff but helpful and since the new upgrades it's gotten a lot better, especially with its new verities of things to buy...
Fantastic service and staff.
Had everything you need and a very good selection of vegetarian items (not just YVES)
Clean and nice. Great fresh fruit and vegetables.
Comfortable new design.
Great since the renovation, a little confusing adjusting but great as any grocery store.
Great place, the staff is always friendly and courteous. The efficiency is almost always perfect, with a sufficient amount of checkouts always open. This location is a bit small but that's a matter of demand, the selection is always great given it's relatively smaller size.
love the new store
Off stickers doesn't make sense at self checkout. And customer service can't help about this. Not a big deal but still irritating.
When I visited in May 3rd the renovation is still going on so lot of dust on products. Other than that pretty much you get everything staff are friendly and helpful. They followed social distance rules. They have plenty of self check out POS .
I would've given a half star if I could. Very surprised as to how dirty the place was especially at this time in the world. NASTY!!!!!
I love sobeys, very clean and friendly staff, I just wish they had a bigger selection of vegetables and fruits
Great grocery store but wish the hours were better. The Superstore around the corner on Barrington is a bit better because it has President's Choice products and is open later
You can now buy paper bags, but if you take your own bags, you have to pack your groceries yourself. I don't work for Sobeys & am not pleased.
It's an older Sobeys but pretty nice. Unique building and a bit smaller than what I'm used to. Still, they had everything I needed and the pharmacist I talked to there was super friendly and helped me out pretty well. Check out was fast and efficient and it had a great location.
No issues. Clean store. Friendly Staff. Always willing to help.
Regular goto for lunch! Nice variety and haven't been disappointed yet!
The entrance smells like rotting animal carcasses, so that's a nice experience when you're walking in to buy food. …
I personally find prices are higher than neighboring grocers such as Atlantic Superstore or Walmart. The use of air miles is handy if you're into collecting those. They were undergoing a major construction change the last time I was in and …
Quite expensive. They just renovated and I have found it to be rather difficult to navigate due to the choppy layout. Again quite expensive.
Under construction for a looong time.
5 star staff, wonderful, helpful people, but barren sections, very poor selection of any thing, better off going the next block over to Superstore, unless you are certain they have what you want, in which case you will have excellent staff to assist.
The layout is weird, alleys are narrow, the flow is not logical or consistent.....but the absolute dumbest thing I ever seen is the short check out counters !! Its ok if you have 1 bag full but if you have 2-10 bags...it ain't going to …
Looks like a fairly new location. Very clean and organized everything seemed in stock. Produce was fresh and 1 cart line ups only. New liquor store next door as well.
Friendly staff, very helpful when you can't find what your looking for ,they help you out ..
Clean, products are well showcased in a clean, full service store which includes a pharmacy, bakery and meat department which will make custom cuts for you. Organic products are available as a well as toiletries and of course, all groceries that one would need. Do not expect excessive variety or clothing. This is a grocery store in Nova Scotia and not a special foods store.
Lots of variety , always busy but there are many checkouts
I was looking for Thai and Indian items. Sobeys has a better selection than Atlantic Superstore and Walmart, and the Queen Street store has a better selection than the Windsor St. store. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and the stock was somewhat deleted, but not as badly as the Windsor St. store, which I unwisely tried first.
Expensive in some things but unique products and good deals !
My local Sobeys. The 4 stars is for the staff. It's more of a 3 for being able to find what I want. For some things it's a bit of a pain because they just don't seem to stock some stuff that I find at their competitor's stores, which is a shame.
Awesome staff. Great little store that feels like a small town
Renovation going on but still they are doing level best.
It's great to see the staff staying upbeat during a challenging renovation period in the middle of a pandemic. Every one of them deserves a healthy raise.
Good Sobeys, smaller but good for quick purchases.
Good prices and friendly service
Excellent customer service was provided by a gentleman helping me find Kicking Horse Ice Coffee can drink. I felt he went out of his way went above & beyond to assist finding it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff member to compliment sobeys. Would make me differently come back to this location.
WORST FROZEN FOOD SECTION of ANY grocery store I've ever seen. Also DO NOT BUY their plants, they are all infested with gnats and will turn your home into a giant bug fest. The shelves have been consistently messy and empty for over 3 …
Standard grocery store. If you like groceries you will like this store.
Not a huge grocery store, but the staff are VERY nice, and they have a WONDERFUL variety of plants, both indoor and outdoor. Clean, well organized and full of good, often GREAT in-store sales - like the delightful 99 cent yoghurt sale last …
New renovations look great
I go there for last minute items. Smaller store than Sobey's at Windsor St. Sometimes certain vegetables are not available. Good fish choice. Older Cashiers are always smiling.
Nice cashiers, great owner and the only place to buy the majority of kosher food.
With staff and customers, we have great conversations about food and cultural products from around the world.
Was here a couple weeks back and now that they don't have plastic bags since it's "bad" for the environment, I was carrying out my purchased groceries in a cart. As I was leaving this employee rudely called out, "excuse me sir" as she …
Sobeys on Queen St has been a fixture in the South end since before I was a kid. More than just a chain store, they have gone out of the way to help my family on more than one occasion. Great local grocery store
I've been shopping at this location for years... and I find the new lay-out after the renovations awful!!! I found four different egg displays, and only one of the displays had the eggs I buy. …
Wonderful garden section, staff are super friendly! Produce isnt always in the best of shape at the end of the week, but the sales are all good deals.
Well organized store with a great selection of international and kosher foods. Staff is very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Rhe floral department is particularly nice. The butcher has an extensive selection including whole briskets.
any time out of this house is good
I would say the renovation is quite successful. Yes the prices still tend to be higher than Superstore on Barrington but with plenty of discounts and the new nicely appointed interior space Sobeys can lure customers away from its main rival in the area.
Just what you would expect from sobeys. Very good.
One of the best Sobey's in the peninsula. Has everything you'll need. Recently visited and the store is under construction but you're still able to shop. The reno's inside look great, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like when it's completed. I've never had a bad experience in this store.
Can’t wait for this place to be renovated. The aisle ways are very small and cramped.
They are mid renovations, haven’t seen any mice there in a while, I hope they treated them humanly
new renovated location. self kiosk, convince, fresh... If you are a student to get 10% discount every Tuesday .
Compact, well kept location. Plenty of self-serve options and a decent array of niche and international products.
This place is fantastic after their recent renovation.
This store is going through a major renovation right now so it can be difficult to find things because the products are constantly being shuffled around.
Great place for all kinds of unique items. Some "south end"pricing but great variety.Larger Kosher section than most and decent meals for students.Nice plant selection.Helpful staff.
Very organized and clean store. In addition, It’s not an over crowded store, has well enough parking space.
Reminds me of a small town grocery, love it!
As always they have great prices on meal plans or just food in general. Plus if you're a person to save on discount or bonuses you'll love the air miles bonus you receive while shopping there. Go check them out!
Great renovation. I love that they have a place for just fresh herbs. Also a sub sandwich station. Beautiful store.
Helen & Madison gave me the best service I could ever hope for, Mike Belland They are stars !!!
Has a student discount of 5% on every Tuesdays
Beautiful renovation, great store.
Very nice place! Vegetables and meat are very fresh!
Ethereal but incredibly comforting!!! Tarps!!!
Usually has what you need. Would not get anything from the deli case. It looked sketchy. Some mold on the cheeses in that area too. Double check.
They recently took off the halal section during their renovation period.
Well lots of construction to make the store better for the coming month besides that it's a good store to get your groceries
Amazing new Sobeys - bright... manageable.. friendly staff.. clean and full of new stuff!
This is pretty much the only place I get groceries. It's a convenient location and for students you can't miss with 10% off Tuesdays even though that is not just sobeys it's still nice. Friendly staff usually but you do run into the occasion grouchy but that's expected anywhere people are people they have bad days.
Great displeased a fresh fruits and vegetables very clean store
The Tuesday evening staff in produce are hot to trot and their biceps would put everyone else to shame. Steer clear if you value your self esteem as they will make you take a hard look in the mirror at your wimpy lil noodle arms.
Great place to shop
Late opening hours are great (open until midnight), wide selection of everything and high quality brands. Prices are a little high so look for when things go on sale!
I just parked in there lot.I had other business in the area.
Smelled like rotting trash in the entranceway. Saw a mouse running across one of the isles.
Just went there to get something I needed at 11:15pm. It was great. Only a couple other shoppers and no line up for the cash register! They close at 12am.
Just bought milk from there, a mouse running around near the butcher shop, the butcher seems didn’t care.
Convenient. Used to live on Lucknow st. I fell over the fence on the side once... And my sister stole a plant from out front once after you'd closed.
Very nice ppl in the store
NEVER EVER GOING HERE AGAIN!!! I WOULD RATHER DRIVE TO ANOTHER SOBEYS THAN EXPERIENCE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! note: there is only one lady that has an awesome personality--beautiful long grey-sh hair with glasses! IF SHE IS NOT THERE, …
Seems like Helen Keller designed the store layout.
The service of pharmacy people is excellent. They have height of patience and have a good understanding towards customers requirement.
Terrible terrible grocery store. They often lack basic items. The meat is often stomach-churning and the butchers don't cut it properly. Almost every time I've come here to buy ingredients for something, they don't have one of them. Once they didn't have potatoes, once it was eggs. Yes, eggs.
Better meat choices than superstore barrington, also usually open later. No self checkout but lineups are usually short.
Was served by Jane today. And oh my. Does she know that her job is customer service. First she out right says she doesn't believe us on the price we said something was supposed to be. And when we try to tell her where it was she raises her …
It's Sobeys. The only thing was it's laid out a bit differently than most stores and (maybe I just didn't see) only self check outs(?) were there.
Normally 5 star but they are renovating which makes it hit or miss for the items needed. I will update when Reno is complete as I'm certain they will be back to a 5 star experience.
Currently the Queen st Sobeys is under renovations so an opinion at this point is not valid.
We are visiting from Australia and have been to the supermarket each night to get something to cook for dinner. The Staff are so lovely and helpful. Really impressed.
Since the renovations, this place has dramatically improved in both being able to find products and the quantity of products. I do miss the lack of in-store specials though.
Store is clean, veggies/fruit fresh. Overall nice store
I bought cleaned Smelts today and there was a moving worm inside. Disgusting and bad hygiene ???????????? From such an expensive place like Sobeys one would expect a high quality and not worms. I wonder what else is crawling in their food prep areas.
Great store with great choice ????
I like this store. It is small, but under renovation, and usually has everything I need.
They decided to do away with baskets. Now they expect a single person like myself to push around a gigantic shopping kart for 5 or 6 items. No thank you I will shop elsewhere
Rude cashiers.
Newly renovated. I found the set up odd. But the store is spotless. Prices are steep. It is not that busy so a great place for a quick shop using the self check out. Lots of parking even when busy.
Just go to superstore instead. Better selection, prices, and produce is much fresher there.
Awful experience with a cashier. I called and management said they knew, no apology.
Haven't been here in over a year, all I can say is WOW what a change! They are more organized, more grocery items to choose from,. Always loved this store and the staff....as they are friendly will to help and very efficient.
Should be layed out better.
Update - Covid has impacted wait time in line, which is maybe 3-5 minutes now depending on time of day. Still the best around. For its size its the best little grocery store around. I started going there in 1994. Often you'll be the first one in line, usually has parking close to the entrance, selection is better than I expect for the size, there are no funky smells in the meat department, and staff on the floor are always smiling and happy to be of service. No attached liquor store but there is one on the other side of the parking lot. There are often heavily discounted meals and sides in the glass case about 50' inside the main entrance, slightly to the right. Update - still very modest but international foods section seems to be growing along with increasing foreign student population.
One of the cashiers was super rude to me .. she made me feel i did not belong here(im new to halifax). I am used to costco so i didnt know that paper bags are 10cents .. long story short she did not ask if i wanted a plastic bag so i assumed it was okay to grab a paper bag myself !! ALSO the salmon that I bought had an expiry date early august but when i returned home and opened it the smell was just bad !
Great place to shop for students on Tuesday and rack up airmiles. Flyer deal are usually decent and Wednesday is the best day for fresh produce.
This store has so much in it.. More stuff then the usual sobeys.. Just amazing...
