REVIEWS OF Rum Runners Rum Cake Factory IN Halifax

Unfortunately these cakes were the most dry, sandy, disappointing cakes I've ever had. I even made a rum simple syrup, marinated strawberries and whipped cream but nothing could help the strange sandy, crumbly texture of this cake. It tasted fine but in no way was a RUM cake. Just a vanilla cake. Really unimpressed. I highly suggest tasting the cake first by ordering a piece before buying boxes like we did. You might save yourself a few dollars and disappointment.

Great baked on premises rum cakes and rum runner items. Go early in the day to try some samples and pick up something to take home before they sell out.

I was sooo excited to try this...the smell in the shop is amazing. I was dissapointed with this rum cake, so dry and not really a strong rum flavour. They had original, chocolate and also scotch/whiskey.

Chocolate Rum cake was super delicious but the sales person at Sugah shop didnt have much knowledge about the cake

Great little bake shop. Very unique idea with great cakes. You can read interesting facts about the prohibition times and the store is decorated nicely with pictures/facts. There are quite a lot of souvenirs to choose from which is a great idea if you look for something special. We purchased the chocolate rum cake and it was tasty. Don’t expect the cake being dripping rum. The rum is more for flavouring. The owner was very friendly and we did chat a bit about history. One can feel the passion. I am sure the idea can be marketed more as specialty to restaurants etc

I was really excited when I saw "rum cakes" since we had these in the Caribbean and they were amazing. The Rumrunner cakes were a lot smaller in the box than expected and a lot drier than I was used to. More like a coffee cake with a little rum flavor. Their store was a bit underwhelming too, filled with mostly merch and souvenirs.

Very charming Rum & Whiskey Cake store, where you can find, besides delicious homemade cakes, souvenirs dating from the prohibition era ;-) Nice find!

Great cake

(Translated) Warm welcome and unforgettable smell of cupcakes. You have to taste the chocolate muffin from the oven ... simply exquisite! (Original) Accueil chaleureux et odeur inoubliable de petits gâteaux. Il faut goûter au muffin au chocolat sortant du four ... tout simplement exquis!

We bought two rum cakes from Rum Runners expecting something delicious and moist. But it was the worst, powdery, and dry cake I have ever experienced. I'm super disappointed as I was told by the sales person that it was a moist cake with rum. I do not recommend these cakes unless you like dry chalky cake with poor rum flavor. Ugh just so disappointed.

This is a delicious treat! And the history that tells says about creativity of past entrepreneurs Stop, read, try the cake and shop!

Brought home a few whiskey cakes for family/friends. Reasonably priced and well-packaged. The guy at the cash was very friendly.

Picked up a cake and a T. The cake was a little dry, but went down great with a cup of coffee! Definitely worth getting a cake, still very tastey!

Adam Johnston

Walked by smelled great. Tasted even better.

Awesome spot to stop for gifts, but the main attraction is the rum cake, and for a good reason. Stop in, try some rum cake, and then buy some.
