Absolutely delicious chocolate creations, great coffee, clean and bright atmosphere and free WiFi! The workers are extremely pleasant and helpful. The only downside is that you want to try everything :)

One of my favourite places in Halifax. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff are always wonderful. The coffee is perfect every time, and the chocolates and macarons are beautifully done. I’ve made stopping here for a coffee part of my daily routine before work as I enjoy it so much, and can’t recommend Rousseau highly enough!

My friend and I were visiting Halifax for the first time and we happened upon this shop. The staff were absolutely amazing, super friendly and helpful, but not overly sales pitching. The hot chocolate was absolutely unreal, the best hot chocolate I've ever had and the chocolates were fantastic! I had a florentine for the road and it too was amazing! Definitely a place to visit when you're in Halifax!!

I am giving 4 stars because they constantly run out of the chocolate croissants... I've tried 3 times to go and get one and they've been out. I wish they had more available...

Fine Chocolates AND certainly the finest French macarons in Halifax. $19/doz, nicely presented in a box and paper bag, that's the best deal in town. We had a event French event and Rousseau's macarons were the centre piece!

I have so much good to say about Rousseau Chocolatier. I’ll try to relate how wonderful by describing their mocha coffee. Which is amazing, made with real chocolate and served in, what is essentially, a bowl. Amazing and delicious does not begin to cover how wonderful it is.

Tried their house hot chocolate with tasters. The hot chocolate was great in that it didn't have that typical strong sweetness to it like other hot chocolates you get from other stores or brands. The price may seem a little high for the volume you get (hot chocolate) but the taste definitely makes up for it. Highly recommended.

The new location is beautiful, a great spot to stop for a coffee with friends (drinks menu is currently pretty limited, but the hot chocolate is delicious if you're not a caffeine drinker). The chocolates are, of course, divine, and they sell singles so you can very easily sample or treat yourself without going overboard. Decor was tasteful and modern, minus the dollarstore Valentine's day decorations.

This place is AH-MAZING. I moved to Halifax about a year ago, just down the street from Rousseau and I can't believe it took me almost a year to stop in. The store is pristine! It's so clean and inviting. In particular, it is really cool to see the chocolatier in his space working away at his craft. The owners/staff here are so nice and engaging and super helpful and knowledgeable. One of the owners told me their chocolatier is originally from the south of France + having travelled much of the south of France, it's my opinion that he's at the top of his trade anywhere. I've only been a few times but I have never been disappointed with the goods offered here. Everything is truly exceptional. Most notably, their Rochers Suisse chocolates and chocolate mousse (served on occasion - be sure to follow their Instagram account for updates). Unfortunately, it is a bit on the pricier side; however, it's worth every penny. I don't mind spending my money on quality + I like to support local businesses. As well, they support many other local businesses by purchasing ingredients locally. I highly, highly recommend treating yourself. Particularly for those coming to Halifax by way of cruise ship. It's super close to the port. I adore this place and can't wait to try everything on their menu!

Cute little shop, smells amazing when you walk in! I had a special where you get a beverage and get 3 chocolates. The cappucino was delicious and went well with the chocolate. I had dark a chocolate port wine(was too excited, it was gone), dark chocolate sea salt and a dark chocolate with caramel inside(blue one). Takes a bit of time as they put care into each customers order which is worth the wait.

It's one of our favourite things in Halifax (you should try their hot chocolate!!), so wanted to share it with our dear friends. Great food, their brownies are to die for, and they probably have the best selection of macarons around town. Service isn't the best though, and it's debatable whether the price can be more affordable. But overall it's a nice chic place that I'd go if I want a little sweet snack.

The chocolates here are both pretty and delicious! I saw it from my hotel room window-checked it out online, and read that they have the best hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is rich, smooth and very chocolatey! With a drink you can buy a 3 chocolate sampler. I tried marzipan, earl grey and peanut butter crunch. A personal fave is marzipan-but O would go back for the earl grey. It's surprisingly good. They also have nicely wrapped chocolate "bark" (I forget their name for it) and lobster shaped chocolate pops as souvenir gifts. I picked up a variety. They also sell macarons... but I didn't try. Wish I could go back!
