Amazing, amazing, amazing! Get them fresh from the warmer or grab them to go for later. These New Zealand hand pies have an amazing flaky, yet thick crust that perfectly holds the deliciousness contained within the hand pie. This is a must eat at destination in downtown Dartmouth, located a short walk from the Halifax-Dartmouth ferry.

I cannot say enough good things about this little gem! They are so delicious each and every time I go, even when I do not get to eat them fresh, they’re just as good heated up. I have tried many different kinds but my favourite is the steak, double cheese and bacon! You will NOT regret trying any of these! We even put them on the fire once while camping. 10/10

The staff are beyond friendly. And the pies, where do I begin? My first time had the chili pie, which they inject with sour cream, just perfect. Next time had the steak pie, again very good. The best one is the mince and cheese! Never dissapointed by this place, nor are any of my friends and colleagues that I have introduced to this amazing restaurant. They work hard and deserve any success they achieve. A little gem in downtown Dartmouth. They have special pieces they test on certain event nights and are innovative and delicious. Thankfully I work far enough from them otherwise I'd want to eat there everyday! Please try their pies! Ill bet you're not dissapointed

I had a conversation with some New Zealanders in Sydney, Australia a couple years ago, once they heard I was from Halifax they told me to try this place out. They said I would not be disappointed and it will be a regular place to grab a quick meal. Well I am glad I took their advice. You cannot get these pies anywhere else, except in NZ and AUS. They have a wide selection of small and regular size savoury pies. The pies are a meal in themselves.

Workplace lunch and learn or walk in these humble pies will humble your taste buds. Never in a million years would I have imagined a pot pie like product being a gourmet item. Had the donair and Buffalo and they were an absolute hit. A must stop for any traveller. This is more of a canteen than a dine in.

I had never had New Zealand-style hand pies before, but I was hooked when a friend brought me a chicken cranberry brie pie for lunch at work one day. The owner is delightful and will tell you all about the tradition of hand pies in NZ, and the pies are always fresh and delicious. Savoury pie FTW!

I got a steak and bacon pie, and the crust was flaky, and filling was total perfection. I can't wait to go back and try all of their other mouthwatering varieties. I've meant to try here since they opened. The odd thing is, the day that I finally did get there was because I originally wanted to pick up a Vandal donut and the MacDonald bridge was closed that day, so instead of driving to Vandal on Gottigen, I said I'd just get one at Humble Pie. I arrived just after 10am on a Saturday and discovered that their Vandal counter doesn't open until 11. This wasn't a disappointment in the end. The smell of the pies won me over. Staff were friendly with greeting me immediately, a couple of customers ahead in line. I asked what their most popular items were and the woman said the steak & cheese as well as the chicken cranberry brie were both well liked. I decided to go with the chicken. They were a bit smaller than I'd pictured, although I knew they weren't full sized pies, and larger than my defintion of a tart. Regardless, they make a perfect lunch. I am more of a 'eat in' restaurant goer, vs a takeout person. But I got this home and ate it within half an hour, enjoying every bite. Nice flaky crust, good comfort food/homemade feel to it. I see me becoming a regular customer of here in the colder months when I generally prefer warm baked goods. $10 per pie isn't cheap but nor do I mind, as it's more satisfying than spending that on a fast food meal any day.

Lovely little shop, friendly customers service. The price initially was a bit off putting, especially for such a seemingly small pie, but once I bit into it, the cost was justified. Delicious, puffy and crispy crust, and crammed completely full of perfectly seasoned meat.

Made with butter not lard. Not that lard is bad but we’re talking butter here. BUTTER!!! You have to try the donair pie. Just once to get it out of your system. Then get into the classic mince and cheese or some sort of chicken thing. It’s all good. Not often speedy at the counter but they move really fast back there so you know they’re taking good care of you. Selection drops off as lunch crowd shrinks So get in early.

Fast efficient service. The pies are delicious and stuffed full. I dont even mind waiting outside for these. Beast pies ???? in HRM. My favorite so far is the turkey dinner.
