Inside looks amazing. Clean and tidy. Staff were lovely. Pastries wasn't the best in the city. Cookie was good but not great. Chocolate croissant don't think their chocolate work well with the croissant. It just didn't tasted good. Country style bread was actually good. There's an after taste but I like it that way. So overall, a good place and decent prices.

1) best sourdough bread in the city - bar none!! I prefer the seeded sourdough- the flavor is crazy but all are good 2) chocolate chip Cookies have salt on them. (Very trendy) I love them. Best I’ve ever had, but admittedly, trendy isn’t for everyone 3) when they have sea buckthorn danishes- grab them!! Delicious! 4) coffee is okay. Not as strong as I like it, but I like it very strong 5) morning buns are crazy good! I don’t love their scones but hey, I can only eat so much so it’s probably a good thing!!

Great little spot! Outstanding breads for sure. Had the smoked salmon sandwich. Very tasty on their homemade bread. Crust was a bit tough. It's self service with very limited options for lunch. Sandwiches and bowls kept in refrigerator. But still very fresh. Very pleased to see they serve Receiver Coffee product from PEI. My favourite coffee shop in Charlottetown.

Oh this bread is good. I just ate half a loaf of Country Sourdough sliced with butter. The crust is perfectly crisp, the interior deliciously soft and chewy. Easily the best bread I've had in HRM and I do consider myself a bread snob. They also sell fresh local organic stoneground whole wheat flour which is a joy to bake with.

My favorite place to get bread and pastries. Their sour dough rye bread is an excellent accompaniment for a decent charcuterie. I had never had sour dough pastries before shopping at birdies, now regular pastries taste flat, listless and boring. The staff are super friendly and the store decor is cute. Just make sure to get there early, or they will have sold out!

I've only recently started getting items from Birdies and everything has been fantastic. The options for bread are wonderful and delicious and the rye chocolate chip cookies are sinfully good. Top notch bakery.

These are the consistently the best croisssants I have found in the Halifax area. They are airy and light and shatter with crispness - the way a good croisssant is supposed to be. The sourdough tang is unique. Their bread is always wonderful, and they try interesting additions to it all the time.

Celebrating our volunteer teams for a week, we looked for locally owned businesses to purchase treats from. Birdies was a recommendation from another business, and was such an excellent team to work with - had lots of great ideas, and they put together some great assorted boxes. The oatmeal cookies with orange buttercream are unbelievably delicious - a must try item if you ask me. I also purchased a loaf of sourdough bread and it was the best we've had in HRM. My boss was able to have some too as they don't use yeast in their sourdough. So so fresh and delicious. Will be back and highly recommend. I also love that they sell other items from local makers in the store. That's what community is all about!

What a beautiful little store! When I walked in I was blown away. It’s simply decorated with natural elements. They have a few comfortable tables to have your lunch or coffee and a sweet. But most importantly... their product is delicious! I grabbed a loaf of their ‘plain’ sourdough (maybe it’s called farmers? I can’t remember in the 20 minutes since I grabbed it!) The crust is perfectly crunchy and the inside is soft and moist. The Italian vegetable soup is flavourful and filling. It’s full of chunky pieces of Zucchini, beans, carrots, etc. It is very homemade (in a good way!) I’ll be back! The suggestion that I can offer to the delightful owners is to make sandwiches to showcase your amazing bread (even if it’s a daily selection like your soup).

Phenomenal baked goods (both sweet and savory) and increasingly a good cup of drip coffee. The bread is also excellent. A great place to stop, first thing in the morning. If you see their bread on a restaurant menu, it is a very good sign.

Excellent pastries, but disappointed they don’t offer sandwiches on saturday ... we went for lunch after seeing some great looking sandwiches on their website ... didn’t see any mention online about not being offered on saturday ... even tried calling ahead but only got a phone message ... so we had to go elsewhere for lunch ... too bad. I’m sure they’d sell if offered ....

This place has great products, although sometimes a little over baked. But good luck getting a chance to buy any! They say their hours are 9-5 each day, but every time I have visited lately, during what should be opening hours, they are closed. The sign on the door says they are open only until they sell out of bread. What way is that to run a business?? I give up, Birdies. You are never open when I stop by, so I'll find somewhere else to buy my bread, thank you.

Such a wonderfully quaint place. Very cozy atmosphere and I was very impressed with their pastries! They reminded me of the pâtisserie shops by the train station when I lived in France. Nothing super fancy, but tasy and good quality that will fill you up. Their onion cheese danish was so good I sent my husband back in to buy another.

Love me some local bakery and coffee shop. This place sells out early. I took off one star, just because sourdough does not make tasty croissants, IMHO, and the only coffee is pre-made urns. However, this place has delightful goodies and is not to be missed.

Have been here a handful of times. Each time, the staff have been unfriendly and I was served overcooked baked goods once. I also found it was overpriced. There are other bakeries in town that serve bigger treats that are tastier, at a lower cost. Not my bakery of choice in the Halifax/Dartmouth area.
