Food is EXCELLENT. Get the BATH sandwich you won't regret it! You can even get the salad dressing to go, perfect for everything! Cons: Service is spotty which is unfortunate for their unique location and great food. The servers seem uninterested and they all seem so overwhelmed with their sections. Also, when they are busy you definitely feel rushed to get out since the space is so small.

This is my favourite bakery in town for the wide selections of freshly made breads, cookies, desserts etc. Tip - call ahead to reserve your chosen breads for pick up so that you are not disappointed since on some days, they run out very quickly. Day old breads and pastries are reduced by 25%. Staff is friendly and helpful. The decor is charming and never fails to make me feel warmed and welcomed especially on a cold winter's day! I highly recommend this lovely bakery.

This is always a top choice when considering lunch or coffee with friends or real estate clients. The food and service are great. There is plenty of parking, however since the restaurant is so popular, the parking is nearly always full. We have always been lucky to find a spot though.

There are so many bakeries in downtown Guelph that have delicious baked goods, and With the Grain remains my favourite. Their english muffins are perfect and their muffins are the best. I also enjoy their signature Planet Bean coffee blend! The best thing is the service is great and I never have to wait in line when I'm in a hurry!

They even have a coffee created just for them from there Guelph Coffee Company.. Fresh breads that are full of flavor... Vegan, vegetarian, and regular old meat eaters will find something that impresses them. Breakfast stir fry with trout...i always get the tamales with poached eggs.. Because.. The food here is simply fresh. I don't know how else to describe it. If you order something with bread (sandwich, soup, etc.), they get it straight from their bakery across the street. All the ingredients are so pure and organic it makes you feel like you're cleansing your stomach. Although the servers were very upbeat, it was very slow, and it wasn't even that busy.

With The Grain used to be my favorite bakery to visit especially on Saturday mornings. I've been going for years. While some of their food is still good I can't help but be disappointed at their inconsistencies. The raspberry chocolate chip muffins were anything but. No raspberries, hardly any chocolate chips and no flavor.

By far the king of Guelph bakeries, this Institution of the city is divided across Woolwich with the bakery on the east (River) end and the cafe/restaurant on the west, I've only had the breakfast once but it had me wishing I went there weekly.

I've been coming here at least a few times a week for the past year and Google just asked me for a review. So here it is: The staff are always excellent and fun to chat to. Food speaks for itself. Oh and on our wedding day they gave us a whole box of goodies to get us through the day. I love this place and highly recommend their planet been coffee, peanut butter cookies, grilled cheese, garlic and cheese sourdough bread and obviously their cinnabons. Their seasonal cheesecakes never disappoint as well. You get the picture.

Whenever I come to Guelph I have to stop at With the Grain and their associated bakery across the street to grab some baked goods. The lemon squares are fantastic and my definite favourite. There are not many vegan or gluten free options but I have seen more flourless desserts pop up. They also have a bread schedule depending on the day of the week so you always know it is fresh.

The service varies but the food is amazing. They have a quoinia salad on a bed of watches that is so good. Their vegetarian chilli is super filling and they give you big slabs of bread. My wife got the egg salad sandwich which was delicious. Their desserts are the best as well. Try it and you will see what they produce is high quality at an affordable price. And their patio is nice on a summer day. We plan on coming back more often.

Simply the best cakes and desserts in the city. Rich, thick frosting and satisfying cakes, quality dessert squares, great pies too. Lots of other options too: Croissants, breads of all kinds, and so on. This bakery is a must visit. Their parking lot is small and the storefront is proportionally small. It is not a dine-in kind of bakery, there is no seating.

The bakery is open, with new hours but the same great bread & treats. I got the oatmeal bread yesterday still warm from the oven and it was great just with butter. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole loaf. It made great toast today, too. I also picked up a date square and a lemon square which my wife and I shared. I got a chance to preview the homemade donuts, which are a new add. Think old-fashioned donuts with nice chunky apple filling inside. The new owner, Erin, tells me she plans to have them in the bakery next week. Can't wait!

Good baking, friendly atmosphere. Restaurant is always very busy but food is usually good. Was never very big on their salad dressings though. It's not cheap (bakery or restaurant), but portions are generous and everything is quality. They also have limited gluten free options as well. I've never had any baked goods that weren't amazing. Employees are happy to walk you through any questions you may have. This isn't the place to go if you're in a rush though.

My son and I drive 3 hours all the way from Windsor for the bath sandwich veggie chili and ice tea. The bath sandwich and chili are so good. After lunch we then order their desserts and bread to take home. The food, service, and staff are wonderful and we love traveling to this great place!

Was open early Sunday morning. Had a croissant, which was very buttery and warm, and a good coffee. Pumpkin muffin was also good. No place to sit so it's not really inviting in that sense. But it's goods are prepared well and it was open! Will come again.

I ordered a tea and asked for a second bag. The cashier told me that it would be an extra charge. I said ok thinking that it wouldn't be too much. I ended up spending $5 on one tea. They charge $2.50 for an extra tea bag... and honestly it wasn't even that great of a tea.

I love With the Grain. I have been coming to this establishment for years and it was sad to hear they were closing down the cafe section. It is great to know that the bakery across the street is still open as it gives those who love this place a chance to still come and purchase goodies. I give this a 4 star only for one reason. The wait staff at the bakery, more so in particular one worker should NOT be in customer service. Every time I go into the bakery she is there. There is no smile, no Hello, no nothing... I get it! I work in the service industry as well and dealing with customers and people in general is not easy but if you are going to work in a place that is so loved at least show some sort of friendly behaviour, as employees are the face of an establishment, otherwise rethink your choice of work.

This is a pretty quaint shop with a bit of a hipster vibe. The coffee is good and they have a bake shop in front of the cafe that you can get pasties and small goodies from. They had a surprisingly good vegetarian kale ceaser salad. The sandwiches are also flavourful and you can order half sandwiches and side salads.

I have heard about this place many years ago and really wanted to come and check out what the buzz is about because I've heard a few different people talk about this place recently. Just last week I had an opportunity to take a client out for lunch and suggested With the Grain as it was walking distance from their office. I had the Roast Chicken with Chipotle Mayo sandwich and to my delight it was perfect, just the right proportion to carry me to dinner. I will definitely go back again and try their other sandwiches as well.

In the past this bakery has been amazing although anytime I've gone in the last year or so, the already expensive squares have gotten smaller and smaller portions and are very stale tasting. This unfortunately was my last time. I will not go back. So sad.

Went for lunch and the food was good. It wasn't all that busy but the staff still had a hard time keeping up. Staff in the restaurant were nice, though. It was confusing to figure out where to pay the bill. They also had menu items that weren't on the printed menu and only on the chalkboard so I didn't even see them until we were waiting to pay the bill. There were only two people ahead of us to pay and it still took quite some time. The atmosphere inside was nice and the music was good. Food was excellent. Went to the bakery as well, selection was pretty slim and not much more than in the restaurant but the quality was very good. The clerk behind the counter wasn't really all that friendly and seemed almost bored. 4 stars for the polite restaurant staff and the food quality though.

This little gem of a bakery just keeps getting better. It has alway been a good bakery but lately they have raised the bar yet again. I am super excited about the onsite coffee roaster. Excellent coffee in bean, ground or hot liquid form. They have put some extra thought into the take out coffee as they serve it in a compostable cup and lid. And then there is the baking... Anything from bread to cookies to savoury or sweet and creamy they have variety and quality. The jelly donuts are a prime example of a classic treat done to perfection with a jam like filling. So good. The staff are friendly helpful and courteous. My only hesitation in posting this if there will still be enough jelly donuts to go around. Mmm.
