Love this bakery so much! They've done a great job with taking precautions and pivoting during the pandemic to keep patrons and employees safe. Their products are top notch! Do yourself a favour and pay attention to their daily rotation of baked goods. All of the breads are delish, but I definitely hold out for one of their Flakies or the tahini chocolate chip cookies, you won't regret it :)

I love Polestar sourdough bread. Each loaf is beautiful. Heavy, dense, delicious, crusty top, moist and flavourful. The open concept shop is beautiful, cosy, warm. One issue for me, I would prefer the bread to be behind the counter and handled by staff, not customers.

Best bread, period! (3 years ago) Edit Nov. 2021 - Prices up, inconsistent product. Hearth sesame loaf very airy/full of holes, have been advised by bakery that this is intentional and to try the pan loaf which is more dense. Seems to be an issue in the last 3-6 months, I have been a customer her for over 5 years. Not satisfied with customer service, will be shopping here less.

Firstly, right off, the quality of the bakery products are absolutely top-notch. Some of my favourites Sesame sourdough, walnut loaf and the pizza dough. Secondly, while usually quite busy, the customer service is always done with a smile, which is appreciated.

What will one more glowing review do for this place? Probably not a whole lot. This is one of those one-of-a-kind places that only exist in communities that really care about their consumption, both ethically and for their health. Polestar is Guelph's beloved bakery and I love walking here to pick up bread. There is something about it that makes me feel connected to a very ancient tradition; on a most direct and obvious level, of knowing the people who make your food. This is becoming increasingly rare, and as citizens we ought to support those who are upholding this. I love Polestar and hope to continue getting my bread and other baked goods from them for years to come.

Delicious bread with an efficient no contact pickup system. The bread is the best in town. Warning! They don't take anything but tap cards for payment. Also it is best to reserve your bread a couple of days in advance on the website because they sell out of some things by noon.

Their social distancing protocols are fabulous! I highly recommend ordering on line, before noon the previous day to ensure you will get the product you want. They were almost sold out by 11:30 a.m.! Can't wait to get into the bread!!

My family can't appreciate the real sourdough culture more than we already do. This is hands down the BEST bread we've tasted since moving here from California 10 years ago. And not even in Cali could you find croissants so incredible. The EXACT right amount of richness, flake, and flavor. You can also tell they use superior quality ingredients with every bite.

Came here on an errand and almost missed the place! The bakery is quite small and closes in the early afternoon. When I arrived around 1pm there wasn't many bread and baked goods left. This either told me that 1. The bakery is popular or 2. They dont bake much at all. I bought a sourdough loaf which only lasted 3 days. The inside was nice and chewy and quite an upgrade from your standard fare from grocery stores.

Okay, I am telling you if you live close to or in Guelph, you need to go here for bread. I live in Peterborough and load my car up before I leave. So good... There is nothing bad here, only levels of good! I thought the seed was my favorite until I had the olive bread. It is my new favorite! I will be back for sure!!

I've always loved their breads, but recently had their babka and was blown away. Delicious! They have an excellent contactless ordering system. Recently some anti-maskers have been hassling them and posting negative reviews, so make sure you buy an extra croissant!

Fabulous artisan breads, a bit pricey as expected. They are not open Mondays AND they do close for some vacation times... my only complaint. They now have a bread slicing machine that customers can use. Great idea.

Polestar has become a staple in our house for the most amazing bread we have ever had. I have had issues with eating store bought bread, but the spelt bread from Polestar Hearth gives me no problems at all. Typically there is a rush in our house to see who is doing the bakery run. It took me a few weeks to realise that the reason was not people being helpful, but the store baked Almandine !

I'm new to the neighbourhood and already have Polestar on my weekly shopping list! I The country loaf is a classic. I don't think I've ever had a loaf of bread I'm completely happy to just eat plain. It is delicious. I also love getting focaccia and the pizza dough. I like ordering ahead on the webstore to ensure there is enough stock. Best part of my lunch break is picking up my bread. I'm also impressed with the safety protocols and happy to continuing visiting during the pandemic.

Love stopping in at Polestar. The bread is absolutely amazing and so unique. The time and care that goes into each loaf is evident as soon as you see it! Sometimes quality is lost as businesses grow, which is NOT the case at all with Polestar. The respect for the community and environment is also evident and appreciated right down to the coffee cups.
