Came in on an spur cause I saw a cupcake and coffee combo being advertised. For about $6 you get a medium coffee or Americano and any cupcake. I got the peanut butter chocolate and it was great. The peanut butter taste of the icing was stronger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise and the cake was soft and delicious. So a bit pricy but an enjoyable splurge if you have a sweet tooth.

Not worth the price tag. For 4 dollars just buy cake mix with icing in it and make a whole batch of them. It will not look as nice but it will definitely taste better. I felt embarassed after feeding these to my wife.

This gem is located in the ByWard Market area. The place is nice and clean. Staff was happy, friendly and nice. Answered all my questions and more. I took 6 daily fresh gluten free cupcakes and cheese cakes. I must say, the way those cheese cake melt in your mouth and taste. Yes!! amazing taste. The only thing, it is slightly expensive, but definitely wort trying them out. If you want normal cupcake or even gluten free deserts, drop by, you will not regret it. Your taste buds will thank you Will go back pretty soon :-)

I had to take a couple of hours to cool down. When I left today I was so angry. 6 days ago I ordered a gluten-free cake because my wife is celiac and it was her birthday today. On the phone they told me the options of the cake on the and the icing for the gluten-free option and I picked the two I wanted. This morning I called because I was supposed to go and get it at 11 AM. I couldn’t make it for that time so I asked them if it would be a problem to change my gluten-free cake pick up to 5 o’clock and they said it wouldn’t be a problem at all. I made sure to remind them that it was a gluten-free cake for someone that was celiac. I showed up at 5 o’clock and I walked in, I said I was there to pick up my gluten-free cake, I gave them my name, and she took a cake box out of the fridge. She turned around and looked at me and said are you sure it’s gluten-free? Nothing here says gluten-free. I instantly lost it. I have bought four cakes for 4 birthdays in the past 7 years we have lived in the area. This is the second time that they have messed one of our cakes up. On top of it all I know it isn’t a huge deal, but we live 35 minutes outside the city and I drove in just to pick up my cake that I paid 81$ for. She told me that she couldn’t guarantee that it was gluten-free, she called someone and that person said the same thing so on my wife’s 39th birthday, we were without the 8”, $81 cake. I had to buy extra cupcakes and on top of it all they didn’t even reimburse me on the spot. They told me I had to call tomorrow and talk to the owner/cake maker to arrange something. Completely ridiculous and I am still extremely angry. We love their cupcakes but service like this is unacceptable. We buy lots of cupcakes from here but that will now change.

Picked up a drip coffee and tiramasu cupcake while on a morning walk and so glad I did! Cupcake tasted amazing, just the perfect amount of sweetness and so soft yet rich. Their drip coffee also tasted very fresh. Highly recommend this place.

I was gifted some cupcakes. I had no idea what flavour I was eating. It looked like a blueberry muffin inside. It was incredibly dry. I think based on my search it was the strawberry champagne. I like a moist cupcake. The icing was pretty. But it was just sugar and my guess lard? There was no tartness. It was very one note. Disappointing.

Love, Love, Loved the experience there! The quantity of flavours available is crazy, including, Gluten free, dairy free and vegan options! They also offer cocktails, drinks and coffees! I highly recommend the place if you want a late night sweet snack after the bars. ☕️????

The selection is impressive, and the service is fantastic, but the pricing is high (and this goes for all the cupcake places in Ottawa). Tried the peanut butter (good), and the strawberry cheesecake (not bad). They also offer "day old" cupcakes at a reduced price. It's pretty good, so I would recommend dropping by if you're in the market.

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS. I have had more than one occasion where wrong price was charged. If a customer is told a certain price they have a right to expect that on their bill. And no you will not BE offered an apology for their mistake, let alone your money. There's lot more places in Ottawa that has much better customer service.

I have mixed feelings on this place. I really like the idea, but I'm just never wowed enough by their treats. The cupcakes are good, but not much better than what I can buy at Loblaws, and their ice cream pops are good but not much better than those you could be in a box at a corner store or grocery store. It doesn't help that this location is very cramped and the staff often looks at people in the store like they're being a bother. I've also had some problems with their rotating schedule and them not having the particular ones on their particular days.

People here are very knowledgeable and friendly! Renée went above and beyond in picking out cupcakes, suggesting tips for freezing them (as if they'll last that long because they're truly very good). Good variety of flavours, and the day-old's are a steal. Will be coming back.

I have never had a bad experience with Cupcake Lounge! Their classics such as Oreo and Red Velvet are always dependable and I love the seasonal options as well. My recent Uber Eats experience was even more lovely. One of the items I had ordered was out of stock and they subbed it out for an even better Marshmallow Ganache! I went here yesturday with my friend and we got the vanilla cupcake and the white hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious and the lady at the counter was very enthusiastic and cheerful. Dry, not flavorful cupcakes. Could hardly eat mine. Husbands and daughters were no better. And four wood stools and two high tables do not a "lounge" make. Uncomfortable to stay for more than 3 minutes. Staff is aloof too. Would not suggest to friends or family.

There's a lot to be said for these cupcakes and many others have already said as much: moist, delicious, thick frosting, etc. All of this is worth noting. What stood out most to me is this is one of the places in Byward Market where a person can get chocolate AND wine!

I visit The Cupcake Lounge every two months, and am never disappointed. Their seasonal cupcakes are always a treat, while their regular flavours are incredible. Most recommended are Oreo, Red Velvet, Key Lime Pie, and Matcha.

This shop is great! The cupcakes are so delightful! The flavour selection is plentiful, I especially enjoy the cinnamon and maple cupcakes. The decor inside isn’t anything special but that doesn’t take away from the deliciousness of the cupcakes.

NOT CELIAC ! The gluten-free cupcake I ordered made me ill with minutes. The taste of cupcake was adequate, slightly dry and not enough spice. The icing was superb. However, it's vital (life and death) that bakers use a separate bowl, utensil and pan when they make something they call Gluten-free. When we returned to the Cupcake Lounge the salesperson was very apologetic but the damage was done. It takes 7 years to heal an intensine. Use my exeperience as a cautionary tale. All the best to the baker to improve practices.

Staff was very friendly but sadly to say that the Vegan chocolate cake I ordered for my boyfriend's birthday he and I we aren't pleased with the cake. First of all it was pricy! And the portion of the icing was way too much (very thick and dry) **, too sweet and the cake was so hard! Very cute shop with a variety interesting cupcake flavours! You can also grab a coffee and sit inside, though there are only a few chairs. The thing that stuck out about this particular shop is the frosting, which tasted great. Most cupcakes have sickly sweet frosting that ruins the flavour of the muffin, but I found the frosting here had a great flavour of its own. Definitely will be visiting again.

The cupcakes look small and are fairly expensive, but do not rely too much on their appearance. Those cupcakes are some heavy snack and are well worth their price. Also, the gluten-free apple/caramel cupcakes was pretty good; the flavours change every day, but if you take any, I'd recommend this one.

To be honest, I'm not usually a big fan of cupcakes, but I decided to give the Cupcake Lounge a shot. While I did appreciate the different varieties and quality of presentation, I wasn't really impressed. The red velvet cake was dry and bland, but the cream cheese icing was way too sweet. The sugar really overpowered whatever flavour was there. And the price was extremely unreasonable. At almost $4 per cupcake, I would have hoped for something much better.

Had the almond raspberry. Actual "cake" part of the cupcake is very dense, would be much better if it was lighter. Frosting was also thick. Could not distinguish raspberry, but it tasted nice. Loved the almonds on top. Suprised to see almonds in the filling as well.

We’ve tried numerous items on their menu and it’s all delicious. Our favorite is the chocolate chocolate cupcakes. They also have really nice DIY kits that make a really good activity for kids on a weekend. We’ve tried the cookie and the cupcake DIY kits and they come with everything needed and it’s lots of fun for kids( and adults!)

Here's a novel idea. Go on Pinterest and search for cupcakes. There are a million ways to decorate a cupcake and definitely smashing on frosting like a flat mushroom isn't the best way. Also, it's $1 for the box to put your said mushroom pastry in a cardboard container. Don't want to pay for a container? You will be given a paper bag used for donuts. I guess it's a better alternative for hiding the hideous looking cupcake.

If you like cupcakes, you have to come here. I am certainly not an obsessive cupcake fan - but this place has really reignited my love for cupcakes ! The icing to cake ratio is perfect and the flavours are always perfectly balanced. They make the perfect red velvet and every other flavour I’ve tried has been incredible. This weekend - also loving the key lime, strawberry vanilla, and berry. Definitely a must try if you love desserts and you’re in Ottawa! ????

Cakes were a little dry, a little old and the flavours were simple. I hope with the end of the pandemic they return with a full force! I’ll wait a while but will come back again!

Definitely sub-par for the price. A specialty cupcake shop should have amazing taste and quality seeing as how they sell strictly cupcakes. Unfortunately I've been fooled again by trendy little shops offering dry and tasteless goods, following suit with the rest of the junk in byward market. I have ordered a variety of baked goods to try, especially the cakes as they have the least reviews. The cupcakes I ordered were: chocolate chocolate ( Very tasty chocolate cake and sweet buttercream to compliment. The cake isn’t too sweet so it works), maple cinnamon (My favourite - tasty cake base which was slightly dry and a nice buttercream), vanilla vanilla (Vanilla cake base which was also a bit dry but had a nice vanilla flavour.) To be honest the cupcakes are nice but they really could be much more moist. I won’t order these again. I ordered a red velvet cake which was tasty and moist to me but some people wished the icing tasted more of cream cheese. I ordered the mouse passion fruit cake which looked wonderful. The vanilla cake inside was nice like the cupcakes but the passion fruit was a bit bitter and didn’t seem to blend in well. Sadly the cake also collapses completely when left at room temperature because of the filling. This cake was not too much of a hit for everyone. For my birthday I ordered the salted caramel cake. This was so so tasty! The toffee syrup made the butterscotch cake so moist! The butterscotch cake is so lovely too I couldn’t stop eating it. The only ask was that there was too much icing. The icing is about half as thick as each cake layer so it was overwhelming a bit. But honestly with a little less icing, more cake and everything else the same - this cake is worth the buy for those who love vanilla but want something with a twist for once. The caramel flavours were not overwhelming. Honestly thank you for this one.

I think I can sum up the cupcakes with meh. The cupcakes looked nice enough, but the cupcake itself was dry and somewhat dense and the icing was a bit too thick for my liking. The flavours were good though.

These are easily the best cupcakes in Ottawa. Two great locations, always friendly and helpful staff. I have never been disappointed with any of the many great flavours!
