Found this place from A Date by Kate. Delicious. We had the carrot cupcake and the red velvet. There isn't any seating space which had us journey on in wellington on a rainy day. Very nice people and lots of tasty options. From what i saw it was vegan and gluten free.

AMAZING DOUGHNUTS! Love that this bakery is totally gluten free. We buy their treats at Herb & Spice on Bank St. but took the time to come to their bakery and were not disappointed. So much to offer and everything is fresh. Today we tried the doughnuts and a scone (tomato, rosemary, and cheese) and all of the items we're exceptionally good.

My wife went in to buy 2 vegan cupcakes, only 1 was ready and the server said more are 5 min away, The server offered to bring them outside when ready, after waiting almost 20 min outside, my wife went back in and the cupcake she had in a box was gone, sold to someone else and the server denied saying she would bring them out. To add insult to injury my wife prepaid and left a tip for the server. These cupcakes are sad looking compared to the Cupcake Lounge just down the road. It took us just over a half an hour to buy 2 cupcakes, and not even the ones we originally picked.

I cant praise this place enough! I love that I can walk in and grab literally anything without worry. Gluten free, lactose free (because they're vegan) and friends with nut allergies means that this place has become a go-to stop before any party or get together. Believe me, you won't notice that you're eating gluten free food! The tastes are out of this world! My favourite recommendation: the classic nanaimo bar

I buy SB cakes and other products at Farm Boy, and every time, the cakes are unpalatable, even before their expiry dates. I thought it was a fluke with one cake, or one time, but in truth, after trying all cakes in the Farm Boy assortment, I won’t continue to buy them. The cakes aren’t edible, they taste artificial. They are truly and unnecessarily too sweet, horribly dry and stale texture every time, icing cloying. There is no reason for gluten free and vegan to be this bad, and they prove that themselves with so many delicious products in their own stores. I visit often and when visiting the bakery in person, both locations, pretty much everything there is stellar. The cakes need work. I have been buying for years, along with everyone in my family, and we’re happy customers otherwise but the cakes are truly in need of a review. I otherwise appreciate all the work they do, and hope this feedback falls into the right hands.

So impressed by this bakery! Ordered a cake for a family celebration. The cake was perfection and accommodated all of the dietary restrictions in my family! We chose Strawberry Blonde as one of our dessert vendors for our wedding as we had several guests with allergies. They are a nut-free, gluten-free, vegan bakery. We did a tasting with them to go over various flavours, and ordered a strawberry cake, several flavours of cupcakes, and some Nanaimo bars (which disappeared quickly!). They were open to us adjusting the order as our guest list changed. They also provide breakfast platters, which were great on the day of our wedding during our preparations. The desserts were delicious and we felt confident serving them to our guests with food allergies/intolerances.

The only place I have ever been where I could choose whatever I wanted! Strawberry Blonde is a heaven for people with food allergies. So many choices that can't be found anywhere else. I can have donuts, cinnamon buns, pizza pockets and sugar cookies! New location is stunning. The one issue I have is sometimes the treats are a bit too sweet. It seems like a lot of gluten free bakers do this as an attempt to mask the taste of the flours but personally, I could do without so much sugar. This isn't enough to keep me from going though!

Really loved the cupcakes! I went on their 3rd anniversary birthday and sampled a few bites as well. I will admit, some of the cupcakes I sampled had a strange after taste and the pizza bites were hard (probably due to the cold weather and being left on the counter) but the cupcakes I bought were delicious! I highly recommend the chocolate, red velvet, and maple and chai flavoured cupcakes.

This place is just so awesome! Jacqui (the owner) is so down to earth and such a hard worker and she hires the nicest staff, honestly, its such a pleasant place to buy. She has created an amazing business that serves such a need...the need for amazing cookies, treats, cakes, donuts, cake pops, you name it - that people with food allergies or sensitivities can fully enjoy! Support local and get your butt over to this bakery and buy as much as you can cause you'll love it all! My personal favourite is the cookie sandwich AND sugar cookies...could eat those all day...I often binge 2-4 things from there at a time. If you've read this far, stop, get in your car and go check this place out, you won't be disappointed :)

Placed an order on Cornershop for a few items. Total in the app was $48.00. The guy from Cornershop called to tell me the order actually came to over $100... The prices on the app and the prices in store DO NOT MATCH. It wasn't even remotely close. I use Cornershop 2-3 times a week and have never had a price discrepancy before, only with Strawberry Blonde. They are fooling their customers into thinking they are getting a good price, but that is not the case. I will not be going here again for their overpriced baked goods. I can't be the only one this has happened to.

This place is very cute on the outside. The treats we had were tasty, however the lack of selection seemed a little poor and it sucked not having a little spot to just sit and eat your desserts. Other than that the staff was super nice and it was nice having everything vegan. That was the best part. I recommend for anyone with dietary restrictions.

Hit and miss. Loved their nanaimo bar and hand pies, but the take-and-bake pot pie and tourtiere leaked out something like 1/2 cup of oil from the pie crust while baking, and had very watery fillings. The baking instructions were also inconsistent (350 on the box and 375 on the website). Definitely not worth the $24 price tag. The donuts (we ordered 6 of the s'mores flavour a week in advance) looked very photogenic but were extremely dry and bland, and did not taste fresh despite being "made to order". Again, not worth the price and we will not be ordering again.

Always amazing goods and you cannot even tell that they are allergen friendly. Taste just as good (if not EVEN BETTER) than the real deal. Get the double chocolate chip mint cookie or a shortbread, and their german chocolate cake and queen elizabeth cake are out of this world. :-)

The store is cute however I ordered a Chai and it turned out to be $6 and yet it was very watery and kind of sour. The flavour of chai is just not there, it tasted like water and a bunch of artificial flavours. I ended up not drinking it. I mean for a $6 cup of iced drink I expect it to taste amazing otherwise I’d just hit my local starbucks (that’s known for being pricey) and get a iced chai for cheaper than that. Don’t really recommend this place.

This placed is not very visible from the street, if you are driving by its easy to miss, it's right behind the bagel place. Asked for the 2 most popular items, brownie and strawberry lemon doughnut if I'm not mistaken, both were very tasty, it's vegan but still a bit heavy/oily for my taste. If you want to try something new this place had lots of choices.

Staff is always friendly and very helpful (will provide ingredient list for any item) and usually know off the top of their head if something has specific allergens (soy etc) in it. Now for the food sold there... it's FANTASTIC. Everything I have tried has blown me away. Recently going gluten free was a bummer for me but I've been able to enjoy such delicious things thanks to Strawberry Blonde Bakery!! I only buy loaves of bread from here now, and every hand pie flavor is amazing. Their pizza crust is the definition of perfection (I've sampled quite a few and this one is by far the best). Even tried some Valentine's day goodies including cupcakes which didn't look like anything special, to be honest, but they tasted like heaven. Not too sweet but just absolutely perfect- and no cruelty required????

Disgusting. Purchased a Vanilla cake from Farm Boy. It looked really good in the package but I could smell a farm like grass and cow smell when I put it in my mouth. Ate one bite and threw it out. Expiry date is marked for February 22nd. What a waste of money! There are much better gluten free options out there!

Tiny little joint where you can stroll in and buy some GF/DF/Vegan treats. Their nanaimo bars are their best thing going in my opinion especially the Candy Cane nanaimo bars, oh man!! There cakes sadly haven't been my favourite, often they taste quite dry. If you get the ones made fresh that day they might be better, haven't gone that far. A bit pricey but worth the visit!

We wanted to love this bakery SO much!! Certainly, for the price, we were hoping for decent baked goods that were kosher and vegan, even if we are personally okay with gluten, nuts, etc. What we got were "treats" that were overpriced, and heavy as lead. I'm surprised there are so many amazing positive reviews. I feel very ripped off. We bought a nice range of baked goods-- one small cake (for $7.75!), two donuts, one cinnamon bun, and a date bar -- and most of us could not even finish our "treats." Cherry cake tasted heavily artificial, like cough syrup. My sister, who is a professional vegan GF baker tasted the cake and gave up on it immediately. Cinnamon sugar doughnut had the texture of sawdust. Date bar was rated overly sweet. My husband, who is charitable in the extreme, rated his cinnamon bun "five or six" out of ten. Not worth the calories, not worth going out of our way (we were stopping by Ottawa Bagel on our way back to Toronto)..We'll give this one a definite miss on our next trip to Ottawa.

I was looking for a sugar free cake and contacted Strawberry Blonde to inquire if this is something they could do. I was absolutely impressed by their level of customer service! The lovely Miranda replied to my email within minutes and informed me that they did not make sugar free cake but she gave me suggestions of bakeries that DID do sugar free cake. I really appreciated that they were so helpful and I will be sure to order from them in the future from their variety of regular baked goods.

They lack creativity with ingredients and rely too much on sugar to carry the flavor. I feel like for a vegan gluten free bakery they could do more interesting things to help the flavors, like using beets, sweet potato or avocado. But instead they just use more sugar and vanilla extract. Also the cake part of the cupcakes are horrible!

Got some cup cakes (red velvet, chocolate and vanilla, and s'mores. I had high hopes since the reviews are 4+. Honestly, I don't know how this place gets so many good reviews. The dough was dry and tasted terrible. I double checked the other as well, but they were all equally bad. The icing was basically sugar. No flavor at all. Make yourself a favor: don't order the red velvet cupcake. Worst cupcake I've ever had in my life. The place has a cool vibe and the staff is very friendly.

Amazing bakery offering up not just typical bakery treats, but also items good for lunch and dinner, and all of it vegan, gluten, dairy and nut free that even those who do not require allergy free food can tell the difference. Their Cinnamon Buns are unbelievable and if you want to get any of their donuts you need to show up first thing as they don't last to lunch time if you're lucky.

They were dry and had a noticeably different taste from conventional versions of the baked goods. I know that it is the ingredients itself that make the desserts taste the way they do, but I’ve had more impressive vegan and nut free food of the same variety.

This place is absolutely incredible! Their customer service is above and beyond, I have a girlfriend who cannot have gluten or rice flour and they dug out their recipe book to double check all the ingredients to help me find products she could actually have. To my surprise and my girlfriends, they had a number of delicious tasty treats! I bought a little bit of everything LOL everything was delicious! Highly recommended, they make seriously awesome desserts and take food sensitivities very seriously and treat their customers with so much kindness!

Wow! Sooo good. I have just tried strawberry blonde Bakery for the very first time this weekend and it was amazing. We tried to go on Saturday for their 5 year anniversary as they had a portion of their sales going to a local animal sanctuary and there was a balloon animal maker there it looks like it was going to be a lot of fun but we showed up about 30 minutes after it started in the line was around the block so unfortunately we couldn't get anything as we didn't have time to stay. However we went back the very next day and. A couple of dates squares a muffin and an amazing cheesecake Square. everything is vegan and gluten-free and it's so incredible I cannot wait to go back!

My family and I went for the very first time today. We have been to multiple places in the city. My son and wife are both celiac and enjoyed it. This is now their new favorite spot to buy GF treats. As someone who isn't on a GF diet I have to say I hesitate to try anything GF because of the difference. My wife took one bite of a banana chocolate chip muffin and was in heaven. I tried it and we both have to say it was the best GF muffin ever and my wife says it's better than any muffin ever! We bought more goodies to take home. The family has all sampled everything and wow it's all good!! We will only be buying from here thank you Strawberry Blond ????

Horrible. My son asked for a vanilla cone. They gave him some type of coconut flavoured icecream that he took one bite of at the cash and said " disgusting" He than handed it back to the cashier and asked her to throw it out. She blankly looked at me and said the garbage was over there and told me to throw it out! ( my 4 year old has yet to build a filter, I have to say I was embarrased by his reaction). But than I got angry with her response.... and she still charged me! I'm all for supporting small buisness and in all honesty I still would have paid...but just the fact that she was rude put me off. I had the pizza pocket which was too dense and chewy for my liking. Too bad this happened cause I would have liked to try other items.

I recently ordered 24 Jamaican patties for Christmas and over half were already broken inside the bag and crumbling apart as I took them out. The Jamaican patties and breakfast bites were also a bit oily. I am glad Strawberry Blonde Bakery resolved this issue in a way that was satisfactory. I also served cake and other desserts to my guests and they commented that they could taste the baking soda and some baked goods were not fully cooked through.

Ordered a carrot cake for my dairy intolerant boyfriend's birthday after reading positive reviews. We don't normally eat gluten free because it's usually flavorless and grainy but this carrot cake is moist, spicy and flavorful! It had kind of a warming gingerbread/pumpkin pie spice taste. Icing was super sweet but light which balanced out the cake! Decorations were simple and elegant. I would recommend to anyone even if you don't have allergies!

Was invited to a potluck and asked to bring dessert, except it had to be chocolate-free and gluten-free. Major dilemma. But not for this bakery, even at the very last minute. They had a selection of cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and even butter tarts! Imagine what you can get when given a bit more notice! The cakes were delicious, btw.

Love the concept but I think the treats fall a little flat. Ordered a sugared donut and a brownie. First let me say that veganism has come so far that I’ve had lots baked goods that don’t seem like they’re missing anything— unfortunately these were lacking, especially for the price. The donut was very dry and overly sugared. The brownie was much better but still not worth the price point.

THE place to go for a sweet-toothed vegan! Their desserts are beyond delicious and have converted many an omnivore's minds on what to expect when eating vegan sweets. Though they have staple treats they also change it up which makes each visit a little bit different. If you're lucky they'll have seasonal goodies available like their version of Turtles chocolates (absolutely divine) and even Cadbury "cream egg" Nanaimo bars. I have yet to try something new and not like it, it's my fave dessert place in the city!

I haven’t visited the bakery, but the Farm Boy store in Kingston sells a few of their gluten free items. I’ve tried 2 different desserts and in both cases I threw them out after a couple of mouthfuls. They are nauseatingly sweet! Do they even taste what they bake? I guess some people enjoy ultra-sugary food, but I’m not one of them.

Normally I would give a five star review but today I was 3 mins late and the girl looked at me and my two girls that are celiac and just ignored us. We come here not just because it's a great tasty shop but because it's vegan and gluten-free. But I will not be returning anymore. If my wife wants to that's fine but I will not return to a shop where they look at you behind closed doors and then ignore you completely. I realize it's closed. I get that. But the lease you could do is acknowledged and say sorry we are closed or whatever. No she just looked at me and ignored me and my 9 and 1 year old girls. I hope another shop like this opened up so I never have to return.

We ordered cake pops for our wedding from the Westboro location, and although they were absolutely delicious, we felt a few of the details were missed in execution - the cake pop toppers were supposed to be inverted (same as all the other cake pops), but unfortunately they were not so it looked a little funny on the stand. We had also asked for one flavour to be confetti, which ended up tasting like cinnamon cookie dough (still delicious, but not what we were expecting).

To be honest, it's fairly dirty inside (just go inside and look at the glass for the bakery display), and their products aren't much better (often stale). But most notably, the customer service is poor. Service with a smile too much to ask? Do not recommend.

I have traveled all over North America and lived in NYC and have never come across vegan desserts as good as these. If you're vegan, you simply have to check out their soft serve ice cream in the summer! Also, their brownies are absolutely amazing--that perfect dense brownie texture that non-vegan brownies can't even get right most of the time! They have all kinds of yummy cakes and doughnuts and such, a real treat for vegans and non-vegans alike. The staff is also super great, and I love that they have an open-concept kitchen where you can actually see the bakers preparing the food.

My family and I have eaten many gluten-free and traditional pastries, cakes and baked goods over the last decade, and this was by-far the WORST birthday cake I’ve ever had the displeasure of paying (almost $80!) for. I ordered online, picked-up 3 days later in store, and the counter staff wouldn’t open the box to show me before packaging it up. It felt HEAVY. I’m guessing the 6-8 serving “Funfetti” cake weighed 10lbs! Easily the heaviest cake I’ve ever carried. Got it home for my daughters’ birthday celebration, and upon first cut it felt and looked chalky, firm and dense. No taste, no moisture… just dense (think; uncooked) granular sand/batter on the palate. The only flavour came from the overpowering taste of sugar in the poorly mixed buttercream icing. My partner and I could barely stomach it. It was akin to eating unmixed cement with sugar. Kids didn’t care too much, but our 13 year-old made a big fuss about it tasting horrible. We threw out 3/4 of the cake. Sad. Won’t recommend.

Not worth the money. I was so excited to go to this bakery as it is rare I can eat baked goods as I am gluten free and dairy free. And the reviews were amazing. However when I walked in the staff was not very friendly and as a first time customer I had no idea what to do. And for the price I paid for the baked goods was not worth it. I was only able to eat the cinnamon bun. The donut was dry and bland, and the s’mores bar was in edible.

Between the delicious fresh baked goods and the fridge/freezer section, I was beyond impressed! I really want to love this place - the attendees are always friendly, but the food isn't always great. Sometimes it's damn SPOT ON, but other times, it's a big ol' miss & at the prices that they charge it should really be spot on all the time. Stuff I've bought at Farm Boy has been dried out or filled with little patched of unworked batter or dough. Their shop also looks filthy too. I don't like buying from there because I'd rather not see what it looks like (ignorance is bliss in this situation) But like I said, sometimes they create pure magic. And their vegan soft serve is all kinds of amazing.

By far the best bakery. I’m not even a vegan but I love this place. My go to order is usually the cinnamon buns and the regular Nanaimo bars. The donuts are amazing too if they have my left. My boyfriend gets the brownie and the small carrot cake tins or cupcakes. Everything is very fresh. I found the cinnamon buns better than Cinnabon.

Service was kind, presentation of desserts is nice. The cookie sandwiches fell apart and the chocolate in the middle was like an over-sweet icing. The frozen cinnamon buns (that you thaw and bake at home) have a grainy texture and weren’t very good. I think everything was too sweet overall, other flavours were imperceptible.

They produce high quality products, notably those donuts! But I just wish the staff were friendly. When you go in it never fails that they make it seem like a burden they have to stop what they are doing to serve you. Like how dare we want to buy things...this comes from the top however; owner also acts this way when she has served me. LOVE this place!! It is literally the only place in the city I can get things like gluten free cinnamon buns or pot pie (which by the way are shockingly delicious). I admit the grocery store cakes have an odd aftertaste and seem more artificial, but everything else from the brownies to the cookies is spot on! The prices are higher than other allergy friendly foods at say Loblaws, but they have many items that you can only find there, plus I can only assume many are healthier then the alternatives! You're also paying a premium for the safe allergy friendly kitchen. We have found it worth it! I also have to thank them for doing take out only. I know many people who can't get vaccinated for medical reasons, but most doctors are not allowed to provide exemptions. Out of solidarity to them, I will not to anywhere dine in, which discriminates against them. Thank you Strawberry blonde, we'll be back for our next date night!! ????❤️

I ordered a chocolate cake for my daughter's birthday and it was a terrible experience. Worst 85$ i have ever spent!! Not only was it dry, but next to no icing in the middle to make it palatable. I followed the instructions perfectly by not putting it in the fridge but its the first time i have ever had to throw away birthday cake. When i wrote in to give my feedback, they said they have never had a bad review and that i must have put it in the fridge. Its a good thing the 3 decorative mushrooms were good because that's all the kids were able to eat.

Ordered a small funfetti cake with vanilla frosting online a month in advance for my wife's birthday today. Went to pick it up. Great COVID protocols in place. 4 people max in the store. Very quick pickup. The cake is gorgeous - very professional. It ends there. It tastes like oil, it's incredibly dense, and it cost $35. I feel obligated to eat it because of the cost but my wife has taken a pass. Going to the store to buy a Betty Crocker mix tomorrow and make something to make up for it. Sorry. A for effort. D+ for execution.

I bought the smores kit! It was so damn good! I walked to the store with my dog, so couldn't go in. But they brought out my order and made it easy for me to get my goodies. Great service!! Would go back and recommend to everyone.

Ordered some cupcakes for my daughters birthday and decided to come to this bakery due to some allergies in her group of friends. They were very polite and made the order very easy and it was ready at my requested time. I found the price quite high, but would pay again for a special occasion.

Deliciously inclusive. Strawberry Blonde's new modern and chic location has a tasty treat to satisfy any palate whether you have allergies or not. I haven't always had the best experience when it comes to gluten free goods. Happy to say this wasn't one of those times. We sample a wide variety of treats, which were all delicious without the grainy gluten free baking is often ridden with. The staff are very knowledgeable and approachable regarding the flavours and ingredients.

Either way too sweet or not sweet enough. Not good in terms of taste, this coming from children of all ages. Cookie sandwiches and donuts alike. Good service at least.

I bought an already made pink lemonade cake and frozen pizza buns for my gluten/celiac friends. I only ate a small portion but the pizza rolls were scrumptious. The gluten intolerant thought so also. The cake was a bit dry. The person that I bought it for commented on that fact and this person knows their stuff. The icing was delicious. They gave rave reviews for this bakery. They buy a lot of items here. I found the service fantastic and very helpful. Prices were also very good because as you know gluten free food can cost a bit more. The server that assisted me was extremely pleasant and helpful. Give yourself 2 days to order a custom cake, example, for a birthday. I will definitely go back!!

I have been eying the maple chai cake at Farm Boy for months but didnt want to spend $7.50 on a tiny loaf. I finally took the plunge and bought it. It was so dry, I put it in the microwave to soften it up. The cake lacked flavour, almost tasteless, however the icing was incredible. I would think you need to rethink your recipe or Farm Boy should remove them from their shelves. It does not meet Farm Boy standards and I feel ripped off. What a disappointment

My partner and I order 6 remembrance day cupcakes for a military family member. Once we opened up and tried them we were super disappointed. The icing was so thick (sliding down cupcake) incredibly sweet and the cherry flavored cupcake was flavorless. Considering it was $5.00 per cupcake, definitely not worth it. It was our first time ordering not sure if we want to go back considering our experience this time around.

Love this bakery. It's totally worth the trip, for delicious baked in store gluten free desserts. They also carry soft serve with gf cones, but as I understand, only in the summer. Highly recommended, and the owner and staff are all amazing.

Love Strawberry Blonde. I haven't had anything that I didn't like yet. The jackfruit handpies are definitely a favourite, and I LOVE that you can buy take-and-bake items. That is definitely what I buy the most. I love their savory stuff.

The baked goods here are decent, and their new location is pretty cool. I think that the savoury goods are quite tasty, but I've often noticed that the sweet items lack any flavour other than "sugar" or "oil" sometimes, which can be really disappointing. If you're celiac however, they have a ton of selection for you. All in all, not the *best* gluten free bakery in Ottawa, but in the top three maybe.

My husband and I travelled to Ottawa a few weeks ago for a quick vacation. I had the pleasure of finding the Strawberry Blonde Bakery!! It was such a pleasant experience for me to go into the bakery. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I walked in and the staff patiently answered my questions. I was very impressed with ALL of the gluten-free products. Some of the food that I bought included a loaf of bread, a cheddar scone and a pizza square. Everything was delicious!! I look forward to the next opportunity to go to Ottawa and visit the bakery again. Hats off to Strawberry Blonde Bakery in Ottawa!!

I had a terrible experience with this bakery. I wish I could give them no star. I ordered a birthday cake for my husband's birthday and it was quite embarrassing. The cake was not fresh at all. I don't know maybe more than 7 days in the fridge. The smell was awful. The texture was not spongy at all very thick and the taste was even worse. We just put it in garbage bin. I have never had such an experience before. Never go back there and never recommend to someone.

So. Darn. Good. Bought a vegan veggie pot pie, vegan Nanaimo bars and vegan chocolate brownies. I specifically asked her if the brownies were rich, she said yes. She was not lying. They were the best brownies I've ever had (vegan or not). The food was excellent. The service was good too. The lady who served us was very friendly and the bakery environment was positive.

I called them ahead of time to ask if they had keto friendly items available and they said yes but when I arrived in person a few minutes later they had none. Waste of time EDIT: I should clarify this did not happen the day I posted the review, it was around mother’s day. For them to reply saying there’s no record of that call is odd since I doubt they go back through a recording of every single call they received. And I still liked this place before, but that reply had unnecessary attitude.
