Maybe this is due to Covid, but I was surprised that they didn't have any warm egg tarts available because we were planning to eat ours right away in a nearby park. No cinnamon available to sprinkle on them either. I don't recommend eating them without warming them up, they're just okay when cold.

Very cozy place. Good bakery and friendly service :)

Emily Daniel

Tasty and fresh baked goods

Paulo Carvalho

Great place to get some pastries at very affordable prices.

zeena kaddoura

Lovely bakery with friendly staff and tasty /fairly priced treats ($1-2 per pastry). Our favourite was the sweet bread with the coconut shavings on top. The store is also very clean, spacious and designed nicely which is a plus.

Lusa Bakery's croquettes are addictive! My favourites are the traditional bacalhau and shrimp, though they're really all quite delicious. After ordering one of each and devouring them outside the bakery, I promptly turned around and went back in for another batch! The pastéis de nada is delightful as well. Not too sweet and the perfect touch of cinnamon. I like having mine warm so I toasted them at home. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Very nice place, but very busy and selection was low. I'd suggest going there early to get the best pastries.

Lovely spot, great food, friendly staff. Their little cod and shrimp pastries are delicious!

Best natas in the NCR and the bolos de arroz rival the ones you would get in Portugal. Perfect for someone looking for a little taste of Portugal. The variety of groceries available is good, in particular an excellent selection of Portuguese olive oils. Highly recommend. February 2021 update: The bolas de Berlim are also delicious and the buns are just like the ones you would get in Portugal.

I cannot say enough good things about this fantastic bakery! I'm so happy Lusa has joined the Hintonburg neighbourhood, what a great fit! Every single thing I've had the pleasure of trying has been fresh, tasty, and clearly made with care. I've had the chorizo buns and sandwiches, muffins, natas, and a few other goodies. YUM! The prices are super reasonable, and the service is impeccable. I think I've visited them at least three times in the last ten days - no shame in my Lusa game!

Hana Dawe

Oh my god. This place is amazing. Service was absolutely lovely as was the custard filled croissant and latte. 5 stars!

David Esteves

Really good sandwiches very fast service.????????????????

Went in for the tarts but we also got the meat croquette, fried/battered cod, shrimp and chicken and they were delicious! I think I'd go back just for the mini fried bites. Very friendly atmosphere too.

Delicious Pastel de feijão, Pastel de nata and bolo de arroz… it was well worth the subway trip over to Wellington street. The service was great and the inside was clean and filled with the smell of baked goods. Will definitely be recommending to others and coming back often!

Patrick McNeill

The best thing to happen in the neighborhood in years! Lusa has a really approachable, friendly, and informative staff, along with some really delicious food. They recently expanded, I can only assume to do the huge demand for their products, which is well-earned. The pastries are excellent - my wife loves the cinnamon brioche so much that it's a high crime if I pass by and don't bring her one. My personal favourite is the vanilla muffin. This is not to mention, the pinnacle of on-the-go snacking in the city, the cod and shrimp croquants that are on display in the glass case. These are borderline dangerous, I could eat 5 in a sitting and come back for more. Definitely visit any time you are in Hintonburg.

I am very happy that in Hintonburg, we now have an authentic Portuguese bakery with fresh bread, grocery items as well as a wide selection of delicious pastries. This is a great addition to the area and I know that I will be a frequent customer!! The pastel de nata (traditional Portuguese flan tart) is very good --- and their pastel de feijão (tart with a mix of white-bean and sweet-almond filling) is absolutely delicious. I have also sampled several of their other equally-delicious pastries -- and I have also tried their traditional Portuguese cod-fish croquettes and their pão com chouriço (bread with spicy sausage slices baked right into the buns) are good for lunch or dinner (before the desserts). The venue is bright and modern and the staff are very friendly. I look forward to my next visit and I highly recommend Lusa Bakery.

Just finished a Bifana sandwich and it was incredible. I hadn't been in the neighborhood in a while and wanted to pop in. This is a beautiful little Portuguese bakery and sandwich shop with amazing food. Based on the smells and the look of the pastries I saw, I'll be back to test the lot!

Mike Luv

I always go there for their fresh pasteis de nata and they taste exactly as fresh as the ones I got in Belem Portugal. I also tried their fresh grilled chicken and it's just amazing. I will be ordering on a regular basis. Great local business with fresh and tasty ingredients and an amazing service.

Nice and quaint. Friendly staff, great selection. Portuguese Egg Tarts (Pasteis de Nata) are a definite thing to try. Also had Pao de Dues and Canolli, which were great. Definitely will come back to try more items.

Guys I literally just finished eating the BBQ chicken on charcoal that I picked up from here ????????‍♀️????????‍♀️ It is delicious and well marinated and well cooked. It’s a an excellent Portuguese chicken! This beats Nando’s and any other place in town. I haven’t had such good chicken since Toronto days. Their pastries are fresh and tasty. Excellent staff always. God bless 10 stars

David Hung

Excellent Portuguese egg tarts. Good balance of sweetness and richness from the egg yolk. Palmiers were excellent as well. Hint of peachy aroma.

Tiago Medeiros

Great little bakery with some of the best custard tarts I've had! They also serve lunch, sell bread and cheese, and have dry goods from Portugal and Brazil. I recommend going here if you have a short time for lunch and you will have a fast warm lunch for a really good price!

A wonderful Portuguese bakery on a strip of often otherwise overpriced food stores. These guys are awesome and should be supported. They also sell a small collection of grocery items.

Sweet & delicious perfection! I've had their sweet baked goods a couple times now and they're consistently fantastic. Light, tasty, fresh, & very reasonably priced-- great for a daily indulgence or a special treat. The shop itself is bright, clean, & inviting, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and not at all pushy.. it was a calming & pleasant experience after a very long day. Am super happy I popped in on my way home and I'm looking forward to trying out more! :)

My second time to this bakery and just as amazing this time. I got a chicken, beef and shrimp croquette and devoured them outside the store! The beef was especially delicious. To finish, the pastel de nata was amazing - the pastry fresh and the custard smooth and perfectly sweet. Will definitely be returning to try more!

Everything I’ve tried from this bakery has been delicious from the cod cakes, sandwiches, to the pastéis de natas. If you have a sweet tooth and are looking to try something new I recommend picking up the bean tart!

Kayla Wemp

I came close to closing time but they still had some fresh and delicious natas! ☺️

Michelle Lee

Nice bakery shop with other Portuguese grocery items. Their pastries are very reasonably priced, 6 items cost $13. The employees were very friendly and explained the items when asked. However, I would say the pastries were just okay, they were dry and not SO tasty

Updated review from 5 stars to 4: The new location has harsh lighting and staff seem more stressed, offering a less welcoming bakery experience. 4 stars because the baked goods are still delicious, just a much different atmosphere despite moving next door. It has gone from a neighbourhood family favourite to a place we avoid. Original 5 star review: Lovely, bright little shop with friendly service and incredibly delicious baked goods!

Breta Bujupi

Delicious pastries! Will come back to try sandwiches
