I really don’t think I am difficult with food and I don’t like to waste it but we just had a couple of sips and threw them away. Also 20 dollars for 2 milkshakes is very expensive.

This is a lovely vegan pastry shop in Hintonburg. The shop has an amazing ambiance and lovely decorations. Food is a bit pricey, but they are a small shop with vegan and gluten free options so it's understandable. Would definitely recommend to vegans, vegetarians and people who think vegan food is boring(this will change your mind!).

Not only is everyone incredibly sweet, but so are the treats. Absolutely love the vibe the place has and everyone ensures that it's a welcoming environment. The treats are no exception to how wonderful the place is. They're all made with love and they're all vegan with gluten free options. The treats satisfy every carving you could have. The staff recommendations are always spot on and delicious. I've never had something I didn't like.

Amazing vegan food. Their pastries and desserts are very tasty and the staff is very friendly. It's very cozy, but the downside is there is limited seating and can be very busy sometimes. It's in a great location, but parking can be limited . Overall the food is amazing and it's one of my favorite spots to go.

From a non vegan perspective, this is pretty much the only vegan pastries that don't taste like garbage. I've had most of the things they have to offer as far as pastries and I liked everything. The staff are very cool and friendly. It's somewhat pricey but it shouldn't stop you, you'll get your money's worth.

I want to give this place a 5 star really badly, but I only found the pesto brunch bun to be meh. It was very bland yet salty at the same time (I felt very thirsty afterwards, but the bun literally had no taste)? My friend got the "icecream" sandwich, which I only found to be okay tasting. I loved the vibes and how friendly the staff were. The interior is so cute (especially the bathroom!) although seating is a little limited. I'm definitely coming back for more because I love supporting local vegan businesses and I just know there are delicious treats waiting fo me to try! Also, I wish they would display the price for the food. I'm quite indecisive, so I don't really feel comfortable with constantly asking for the prices. *edit* After coming back twice after this review, it’s safe to say that they’re the best vegan eats in Ottawa! I will admit they do have hits and misses, but once you familiarize with the menu then you’ll know what’s good and what should be avoided. Highly recommend their poutine hand pie and I’m definitely coming back when they serve their Mac n cheese!

Every time I visit this place out gets better. They're sweets are obviously their staple but their savory food outrageous! Their staff is friendly and kind and courteous and warm and so very conscientious. This is a great spot for a first date or to spend the afternoon with your baby. Great vegan pastries, confections, and treats; they even held up well the next day without being dried up or rock hard. I also took a wedge of the cheeze. The texture was great. It could have been a bit tangy-er and saltier for my taste but was still quite tasty. I don't actually know what sort of flavour they were going for, so it may be spot on. For a mild cheese, it's excellent.

This is a great little place to drop in for a well round choice of Vegan food and or lunch or just for a stop for dessert and/or coffee. They have a unique section of highly creative foods and flavor combinations and offer a full selection of coffee's with a variety of alternative milk choices. They do have some gluten free options, but not a wide range and generally limited to dessert. I have only have two issues eating there as I had a reaction after eating something that was labelled gluten free, but whether this is due to possible cross contamination or a reaction to the milk alternative I selected for my coffee I'm not sure. Price point on items is a little higher than I would like. The place is not overly large but has a nice friendly and cozy atmosphere and is definitely kid friendly and is very clean and the staff are friendly offering fast efficient service.

I’ve tried their pizza (just a bit dry) and few other pastries and never been disappointed. Super cute for those instagram post . this is such a lovely, no-frills vegan bakery with lots of delicious savoury options as well. I'm always happy to show my vegan and non-vegan friends this place and sit down for a nice coffee and dessert. Monday - Friday it's mostly just sweet stuff (and there are always a TON of options) but Saturday and Sunday they have a few nice savoury vegan breakfast/lunch options that they rotate each week.

I love Little Jo Berry's Bakery. we tried it just before Thanksgiving as they were at a sanctuary event for Penny Lane Animal Sanctuary and it was fantastic. So we got some of the individual portioned vegan Thanksgiving dinners and a vegan pumpkin pie which were also amazing I tried to be vegan breakfast there one day which was to die for. We just went back the other day again for the second time and again I was blown away although I really regret not trying the vegan breakfast that day as it had vegan sausages in it as well this time and I really think it would have been amazing as is everything they do.

So many delicious things to try here! Mini pizzas were my fav. Scones second. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Ottawa. I thought the smoked guda cheeze was good, not as rich and creamy as some others I've tried. Personally I like the denser version, but still enjoyed the Jo Berry's style with crackers. I can only guess that this place is ok. I went in twice with friends but because I am lactose intolerant and allergic to soy there were no food products I could consume. I understand that this is a "safe haven" for people with allergies to dairy and for people who follow a vegan diet. That being said, it would still be nice as a person who struggles to find non-dairy and non-soy products to enjoy the inclusive atmosphere of Little Jo's. Jo herself offered to make me something that fits my dietary restrictions if I could give her a little more notice. Friendly service but food is terrible. What did I just pay 12 bucks for?? Pictures of sample food nicer than what I got, by far. A kale vegan soy/ egg breakfast sandwich - less than an inch -size of kale leaf , something like ketchup and mayo on a bun with some mushy, yellow ( real coloring???) soy based egg substitute. There is more bun here than anything else. And it had no taste. The latte tasted like brewed coffee with steamed milk. Not coming back. Desserts look pretty but overloaded with sugar and good color. Meh!!

Love this vegan bakery! They have lots of delicious options for vegans (and some gluten free choices too), and they have some meals too. One of the best vegan restaurants/bakeries in town! They serve a main course around lunch (we had "meatball" subs) and pastries throughout the day. Highly recommend the pop tarts, blueberry-lemon square and the macaroons. The café feel makes it really cute and the staff are also really great. Their faux mozzarella is famous, so check that out if there's still some left when you arrive!

Pros: Super friendly staff. All baked goods were fresh and there was quite a variety to choose from. Some of the best vegan desserts I have had. Nice choice of "milks" Almond, Coconut or Soy. Cons: We picked 4 desserts 2 cakes, a carrot cake twinkie and a strawberry bar to split between 5 of us and we couldn't finish them, these desserts are very very rich and super sweet. Some had concerns over the cleanliness of the aprons a barista was wearing and voiced that it wouldn't take much to change the aprons because the ones on were over the top covered with various food chunks obviously from baking.

We got an apple pie, $33.90 for 8" and it was not at all worth the price. The apple peels were still on, it was too sweet, and the crust was hard. The filling had a strange taste, similar to that of propolis, a honey derivative. We got complimentary "whipped cream" which tasted like bad icing. Nonetheless, we were very pleased with the Oat and Mill ice cream that was not too sweet, so it balanced out the sweetness of the pie.

How are the reviews so good? Vegan desserts are not difficult to and since this cafe is dedicated to making these vegan desserts they should be outstanding. Everything taste the same, lots of sugar and overly sweet with no distinctive taste. Their creamy stuff has a grainy consistency and honestly this place just seems to be overrated. Been here twice and both times it wasn't good. And pretty expensive too. No thanks.

I ordered a cake from them for my sons birthday, it was supposed to be chocolate strawberry but it just tasted like sugar. The only part of the cake that tasted like strawberry was the small amount of jam in the center and none of it tasted like chocolate. The cake was also SUPER dense and dry, if I'd wanted a bad cake I could have baked one myself for 1/10th the cost. The service was excellent however.

Saw their gluten free hollandaise bacon homefries scroll through my newsfeed as part of their all day breakfast, decided to stop in and try them for lunch. I was not disappointed. Amazing. The girfriend was so happy to find a gf bakery. It was also dairy free, vegan and all that good stuff that is the craze now a days. Got a milkshake, and it had a donut on top. But the donut was more of a delish gf banana bread muffin top. It waa gone before we turned onto the main street. Also tried 4 other desserts, the smores one was my favourite and we are deffinatly going back for that atleast. One point of improvement if it could be figured out would be slightly more milkshake. But at the same time it was amazing and didnt upset anyones stomach lol

I'm really surprised at the reviews. I really want to give this place high ratings, as I love the concept and how fun everything is, but I think it's important to give constructive criticism so they can improve. Most of the sweets are dry, they are left out without being covered or heated which makes it lose all the moisture... this is so basic, please cover the sweets so they don't dry out. The savoury stuff is all delicious, but usually the bread is way, way too thick and not good. The buns are delicious but its mostly all bread and hardly any filling. If you come here, I recommend doing so in the morning when the pastries are fresher and not dry yet. I really hope they make these adjustments so this place can reach its full potential

After a horrible service experience with the other bakery while trying to order, I tried Little Jo Berry's. I should have gone there first! Recently discovered this Vegan gem and have been here 4 times already! They make Vegan taste good! I love their pizza which they make on Fridays. Also we just tried their Bubblegum soft serve - amazing! Their mayonnaise is also tasty and I love that it is vegan. Friendly staff each time I have visited. Highly recommend!

Ordered a coffee and was disappointed they don’t have dairy at all. Asked for my coffee black instead and to go. The sweet I had, not memorable, dry and lacking depth of flavour. The coffee was lukewarm on first sip after leaving the shop. It seems to be a source of pride they only sell this ‘alternative’ food, won’t help for the growth of a small business in an expensive neighbourhood. I threw out the coffee and went elsewhere.

I called a few days ahead to make a cake order. The person emailing me was so helpful. I came in today to pick up the cake. It looks absolutely beautiful. Raymond was the person helping me at the cash. Really great customer service, he helped me carry my treats to my car. The food is creative and fresh. The textures and flavors are on point. A loaded selection of savory and sweet things. They have breakfast, coffee with all the "melks". I will definitely be back and 100% recommend this place. (This was my first experience) you guys are doing it well.

Surprised at the high ratings given the food quality. I bought 2 lunches and 3 deserts and could not finish any of them. The cakes are very dry and overly sweet, the bread is very thick and dry, the avocados tasted like they've gone bad and most of what we bought made its way to the garbage can. a MUST visit if in Ottawa. I first tried Jo's amazing treats when she was at Auntie Loo's and was pleasantly surprised on my last visit to Ottawa that she had her own shop! Stopped in, was greeted by a very friendly young man at the till and had the MOST AMAZING piece of carrot cake ever...It's so hard as someone who needs to eat both gluten free and vegan to find delicious desserts, especially the likes of carrot cake, and this one was delicious! I can't speak more highly of Jo and her establishment. You won't be disappointed if you stop in!

Popped in a week or two ago & grabbed some hefty baked squares -- pumpkin crumble, pumpkin-chocolate, & apple. The baked goods here look AMAZING & I was excited to try these but they were only "OK": they were dry and had that characteristic "alternative flour" taste. May have been unlucky, but I see now that most if not all of the baked goods here are GF. Not sure about this -- I'm a long-time vegan and am all for making sure GF people have options too, but I don't think we should always be lumped in together as GF baking is harder to get right. Plus Strawberry Blonde (all vegan & gf) is next door, so GF folks in this neighbourhood are already well-served. It hurts veganism when people lump GF/vegan in together -- which I felt viscerally b/c I picked these up these to share w/ nonvegans and they were underwhelmed D: The shop does have a lovely atmosphere & good ethics; when I stopped by I was thinking I'd like to come back and hang out sometime. I probably won't as I'm not jazzed about the cakes. But if you are GF this place might be paradise!
