True: doughy croissants are not the best croissants. Besides: no place for sitting that is comfy n warm.
Best bakery in Ottawa, hands down. Definitely a must-try if you are in the Ottawa region.
(Translated) A good bakery, typical French. Good pastries and pastries (Original) Une bonne boulangerie, typique française. De bonnes pâtisseries et viennoiseries
Prompt and friendly service. We had the almond croissant and an apple tart. Both were good and fresh. Don't forget to spare some time to try the amazing brunch at the back.
Average in taste. Overpriced.
Great place, friendly owner.
I had the pleasure of discovering The French Baker right before Christmas; having grown up in Montreal (home of La Patisserie Belge, which is sadly no longer in business), I was looking to pass on my childhood Christmas morning tradition of oven-warmed almond croissants and Chocolatines to my own family. I placed my order several days in advance and can honestly say that the quality surpassed my (high) expectations. And a special thanks to Scott for going above & beyond the call of duty to ensure I was delighted with the pastries. And now that my family is gleefully addicted, I will definitely be back next Christmas (and possibly sooner).
An absolute pleasure !
Staff was abrasive, discourteous and not service oriented. Pastries were hard, not worth the price.
Best croissants in Ottawa. Worth the trip to the Byward Market.
(Translated) OK. It's not in Montreal ???? The pastries are good and a bit pricey compared to the quality. But there is no other French pastry shop in the city center. So, enjoy your meal ???? (Original) Ok.
Very good croissant and breads. As several have mentioned, the service isn't the best and the man at the cash makes yo you feel like you're inconveniencing him. I haven't tried the pastries, but their croissants and breads are very good. I've been coming here for years, and if you can get over the mediocre service, you'll enjoy the baked goods.
Belle expérience, bon service, great coffee and amazing French pastries with all kinds of other consumables. You can see their smile from under the mask!
The croissants are not as flaky as those I enjoyed in my 2 years working in France and there are better ones in town but the chocolate mousse cake here is excellent..
Perfect croissant and a lovely cashier fluently bilingual
(Translated) While we are very clear, it is not at all French bakery. We took a croissant and a chocolatine and for French people this is neither croissant nor chocolatine. I don't know where they got their recipe from but they don't know that those are made on a basis of puff pastry and not of brioche bread. It really pisses me off to see people advertise genuine products and be so far from the truth. This lets people who have never had the real product in their mouths think that what they are tasting is the real product and they must think that it is good when in fact they think the opposite. So in summary, it is not at all French products and above all it is not good. I'm only talking about croissants and chocolatines, the rest can be better.
If you've got things to downtown early in the morning, then his is your first stop. Grab a coffee and a pastry and be on your way. Coffee is illy, so top notch, and the pastries are delicious.
Stopped in for brunch at Benny's so on the way out decided to get some fresh bread for dinner later. Done the way it should be the product is very good quality. Friendly staff.
Authentic French pastries and cakes. The croissant I had was very good. Their are about four seats by the doors.
This bakery is as authentic as it gets. French speaking staff as well. Relatively descent prices for baked goods. And yes, their croissants tend to be a bit doughy.
Have been here a few times recently. The tarts and eclairs are good, but the service is lacking. Staff doesn't seem very friendly or inviting, makes you feel bad that you bothered them for a croissant and some coffee. Also the traditional french vienoisseries are doughy - the flour is too dense and they are missing that lovely light, airy, crispness that you would expect from a french bakery.
Really great boulangerie, the almond croissant was fantastic. I was reluctant to give this place a try due to all the bad reviews but I will definitely be going back. Also got to try the bread from here since it was served at Benny's Bistro and it was fantastic. Excellent crust, flavour, and the perfect texture. The service was fine too, the man who served me definitely would have been more comfortable speaking in French but I found him to be perfectly amiable.
Amazing pastries! And open nice and early like a bakery should be. Was able to get great coffee and food before heading back to the States!
Best French pastries in Ottawa
Small bakery just a couple of streets away from the bustling Byward Market. They have a variety of French pastries that are made fresh on site and it smelled amazing. We ended up grabbing breakfast pastries and coffee here twice on our trip to Ottawa, service was very friendly, pastries were delicious and safety protocols were in place. Will definitely visit again next time we come to Ottawa.
Best croissants in the city. Very friendly staff!
Absolutely divine!
Finally a place that gets mille-fleuille right!
A superb bakery. Their food is very delicious. The staff is nice. The service is great. The place is nice & clean.
great "frangipane"! the real deal!
(Translated) I love, and they are cordial! (Original) J'aime, et ils sont cordiales!
(Translated) Croissants, a nice choice of pastries made on site and imported sweets ... everything to sweeten your mouth with a good coffee????
Their commitment to quality is evident in everything I have purchased.
Decent but not authentic. You can't taste the butter in their croissant, it's not flaky either. they bread is hard and tasteless. not good
This is the best bakery of its kind in Ottawa...amazing ...always ...delicious...always fresh...best to go is earlier in the day...certain days different kinds of breads...and baguettes....especially Saturdays....their buttery croissants are delectable....another outstanding bakery across the river is Fidilice...depending.on where you are....either are the best...I own the Peace-Garden Vegetarian Paradise ...a few steps away...and am familiar with all the bakeries and suppliers....for over 25 years...enjoy their buttery croissants....and assorted pastries in the baskets...at either place...and you will be enjoying the best in Ottawa and Gatineau area...Fidilice also is now offering vegan and gluten free cakes...along with European style delectable cakes you find at the French Baker....
Best French breakfast I had so far in Ottawa. Great coffee, great atmosphere and great staff.
The man at the cash was a little grumpy, but he did kindly tell me about the different tarts they had. I went for the pecan chocolate and it was amazing. Don’t think I’ve ever had anything like it - fresh, tasty, and a nice mix of soft and crunchy.
Very limited selection, especially when it comes brown bread. The only one they had was not so fresh! The staff was very ignorant and unwelcoming as well. The name of their business is misleading!!
Mediocre to disappointing viennoiserie.
Quality and freshness has been going downhill lately, Very disappointing I have had better croissant in Mumbai, India! Stale, over baked and lacking layers - and that’s not a one off thing, that’s the third batch I get over the last 6 months One would expect much more out of a $5 croissant
This place is adorable and delicious! They carry breads, pastries, coffee, and cookies. They are peanut free but not nut free so if you are allergic to peanuts this place is amazing (but not if you are allergic to almonds or other nuts). I have tried their cinnamon bun - it’s made with croissant dough so it’s super flaky - and their chocolate espresso cake. Both were great. Note that their breakfast pastries such as croissants are usually sold out by lunch time so if you would like a chocolate croissant go early or call ahead! If you go in the afternoon they will still have their selection of yummy desserts but no or few breakfast pastries.

Best croissants in Ottawa! Lots of other yummy pastries, and good service as well, in English or French. I don't understand the negative reviews. I have been a customer for years. They NEVER have stale croissants because they are sold out out every day. The service is efficient, but never rude.
Love absolutely love their wonderful breads ....real butter croissants and fabulous desserts....I own Peace-Garden. .. a vegetarian coffee shop down the street and often use their hand rolled baguettes ....which am planning to use tomorrow....for our daily special...Note special days they make walnut bread....unbelievable.....They are beyond 5stars!!!!!
Super delicious pastry ????????
(Translated) Wonderful service with delicious pastries (Original) Service magnifique avec des pâtisseries délicieux
Very fresh croissant and delicious cappuccino thanks guys for great services bad cozy store ????
Very fresh croissant and delicious cappuccino thanks guys for great services bad cozy store ????
Delicious pastries and excellent Illy coffee!
Not that good; incomparable with real French bakeries Croissant is almost as bad as what you'll find in a grocery store. Flavor is only ok, and the texture is like white bread. Chausson aux pommes (apple turnover) was dry (not fresh that day?) and bland. Filling a bit too sweet, and dough not salty enough. The almond pastry/dessert was decent, but crazy sweet. I couldn't have more than one bite. I probably wouldn't go even if it was the only choice, which it isn't.
5 stars for the croissant alone ????
very good pastries
Croissants were very disappointing. They need to go back to the quality they had when they opened. I was hoping to have a fine bakery in the neighbourhood for weekend breakfasts.
I was frustrated the other day because the French Baker messed up and forgot my order on Mother's Day, but Scott, the owner, called me back quite quickly after my negative review and personally delivered a dozen croissants to my house. Scott, you have a happy customer again. Thank you for making the effort to make it right.
Delicious and fresh!
Delicious pastries and friendly service.
This place has fantastic delicious croissants and cinnamon rolls?
Great tasting.... Although kind of pricy. Fresh croissants (not shown).
I would give zero stars if I could. I was very excited to find a French bakery; having lived in France for years, one thing I miss most is French baked goods. I went to Boulanger Français with my French wife and we bought three different cakes, including an eclair, and two chocolate croissants. Honestly, they were simply terrible. Not compared to French pastries or anything, just terrible. I've had better croissants at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, and I would even wager that week-old croissants from ghetto gas stations would be better. Same with the eclair, and I barely have the courage to try the other cakes. The advice I would give the owner is to please change the name of the establishment. Calling yourself a French bakery is akin to Tim Hortons calling itself an Italian delicatessen. The only somewhat interesting thing about this place is that the guy behind the counter tries to mimic the old stereotypical nose-in-the-air French attitude. But that simply does not work in Ottawa, or anywhere nowadays for that matter.
Tasty bread and nice pastries too, the bistro in the back is where you really want to go though.
Very bad customer experience with the guy at the cash! He was very rude asking me to not waste his time and his cash printing paper when I tried using a tap debit card..."you're wasting my time and paper, we don't have tap machine here please" that's whate said to me. How am I going back to this place,Never
Best baguettes in Ottawa! And priced fairly too!
Délicieux! I love their bread! Today I had some pastries and it was très bon!!!
A bit pricey but tasty
Best palmiers of life
Delicious, just delicious bakery! Kids are happy
Classic French bakery. Amazing sandwiches with that hard-as-rock baguette bread, amazing pastries, really really good caramel tarts. The baked goods are really top notch. I've been to Paris, this place is typical Paris. An absolute gem downtown Ottawa.
Good, authentic Parisien goods. Limited seating.
The best French pastry shop in Ottawa, period! Their croissants, almond croissants and baguettes are our favourites and so fresh and delicious. Last January for the Epiphany we ordered the specialty only made once a year ‘ Galette des Rois ‘ and our French visiting friends swore it was the best they ever had. Vive Le Boulanger Français!!! Robert et Rachel
(Translated) Very disappointed with the croissant I had. I came to this place on purpose because I wanted to be able to taste a real French croissant but it clearly didn't have the texture or the taste. Doesn't deserve its name: /.
Great food, especially the almandines and brioches
I think it is a great find ???????? Very delicious bakery
One of my favorite bakeries in Ottawa! Everything I’ve gotten there is amazing quality and they also have great espresso-based coffees and imported & local treats
Outstanding place for croissants and other French baked goods. Was served by the owner - a real polite Frenchman. :)
Nice little slice of paris in Ottawa
Staff was friendly. The chocolate croissant was soft and delicious.
Super yummy! And very cute!! It's like artwork!!
Very good french bread, pastries and baked goods, really delicious and worth the price along with great fresh coffee.
Very good. Tried shortbread and chocolate cookies, and coffee cream cake. All were good looking, large size, and yummy.
Great bakery and friendly staff!
Unfortunately its very poorly managed. Their printer paper was not working, and it looked as though their computer wasn't either, they were out of small, medium cups and completely out of lids. I found the almond croissant less than desirable. I am disapointed to say the least. The only reason for the three stars is because I found the two ladies working there this morning very pleaseant but not pleaseant enough for me to go again.
On the outskirts of the byward market, this bakery stands out as the place that locals frequent for fresh breads and pastries, vs the touristy bakeries which are more central. Wonderful friendly staff and beautiful and tasty baked goods, definitely check this one out!
Love this place! Amazing French pastries and desserts with lots of unique things you won't find anywhere else. Definitely a must-stop when in Ottawa!
Very good croissants! variety of options and good price. The only negative thing is that they say they offer delivery on Google, but when we called them they say that they don't provide that service.
ZOMG the BEST eclair we ever had with chocolate custard. The chocolate and almond pastry was excellent as well. Worth the ride downtown
Awesome pastries!
Awesome pastries!
Our favourite bakery in town
Usually this is my go to place for any French pastries. The smell alone is amazing! However, I was really disappointed in their millefeuille today as it was soggy and not worth $7.
Love everything I’ve had here - highly recommend the coffee and any of the baked goods!
Their pastries are wickedly addictive!
(Translated) Very good for someone who wants to find a good pastry.
It's hard to find really good bread and cakes in this area, but The French Baker excels at everything they serve. Breads, cakes, pastries, cooked meals like Pot au Feu. I recently tried their " Lumberjack bread". Oh my. Dense, flavourful, multigrain, dark bread. A real treat for Ottawa .
Really great products and friendly service, unfortunately at "Ottawa Market prices."
Pastries were fresh, excellent quality, good prices.
It smells soooo good here. Super kind and friendly customer care. Delicious bread!!! Traditional French bakery at very reasonable prices. Simply a gem. #localguide
(Translated) I accidentally discovered the French Baker by accident as a result of searching for open places during the pandemic. It's our second time at ordering scones and croissants. Absolutely satisfied. They were tasty and flaky just as we like them. Thank you to the young lady for the courtesy of the croissants in the late afternoon today. It was well appreciated. We look forward to visiting you post pandemic. (Original) I accidentally discovered le Boulanger français by accident as a result of searching for open places during the pandemic. Delicious! This is a very nice bakery.
Great environment-- close to the mark for France Many thanks
Stubbled upon this place by accident with a friend. It is kind of hidden behind the main area that is considered the Byward Market but definitely worth the visit. The bake goods are amazing! The selection and quality of breads are great.
Came 5 times for croissant, chocolate croissant, almond croissant and chocolate almond croissant, and dried each times. Just don't understand the hype about that bakery.
(Translated) Excellent customer service, exceptional pastries and delicious fresh bread. I love how they added French products and non-alcoholic wine to their selection, perfect for parties and always, really. A highly recommended neighborhood treasure to visit - you won't regret it once you taste the chocolate éclairs (and everything, really)! (Translated) The croissants are good but the place is not French.
Wonderful raspberry mousse cake, delicious almond croissant and crispy/soft baguette: who could ask for more?
Best Boulanger in Ottawa! It's been a family favourite since we moved here in 2006. The very best cinnamon rolls, sour dough bread and croissants. It's a place we take every visitor to Ottawa.
Agree with another review, nice food, nothing particularly outstanding yet but I only tried 3 things. The mini lemon cakes are very nice though, will definitely be buying more of them.
Baguettes are inexpensive and very good!
So good and remains a fave...plus the staff are always amazimg
(Translated) Very good bread, pleasant staff! (Original) Très bon pain, personnel agréable!
Adore this bakery! For a treat once in a while, it's a definite must visit in Ottawa. A gem of a French bakery. Anyone who appreciates high quality authentic croissants, pains au chocolat (chocolatines) or chocolate will need to pay a visit to this bakery. If you feel especially indulgent, peruse the glass display case replete with tartelettes, mini cakes and slices of cake. This is the only French bakery in Ottawa that reminds me of my favourite one when I resided in Lyon. Staff are generally friendly and quick.
So good!
This place is a jewel. I love all the bread and coffee in this store. On the last day of 2020, I bought chocolate cake, croissant, cinnamon roll, Eclair, and mousse cake. I drove for 40 minutes to buy these, but it's worth it. The staff were super kind (Always) and brought me a box of cakes to my car. See you soon!
EXCELLENT cherry cheesecake & amazing owner !!
could have sold a fresher pastry but yum
Everything was fresh great selection very friendly staff.
Amazing pastries and espresso. Nice treats and knick knacks from France. Friendly service.
Delicious treats at this French bakery!
Amazing pastries and bread. I'm so glad they're open during the pandemic although it's just a door service.
(Translated) Where I happened to find the location in the local newspaper. A block in Byward Market? Two blocks? Expected Napoleon Bakery in Korea ?; French bread faithful to the basics. The next morning, I made a sandwich with croissants, but the time went by and the croissants were delicious. Friendly owner. This wasn't good for eating the next morning. Best croissants in the city
Bread is pretty good. There are not too many great bakeries in Ottawa. And this is a good option. Service was not great though. I just wished that the French baker would also master (French) etiquette...
Excellent bread! Great service !
Great location, clean and cosy place. I always buy fresh crispy bread and cake in the morning on a weekend.
Quality of croissants and eclairs are far away from quality of real french bakery. Coffee is good
Best bakery in Ottawa
There is no menu. I asked for 1. Iced coffee 2. Mocha they had neither and the guy explained it was a european menu. Not sure what that means but ended up getting an Americano and a croissant. Would help if they had a posted menu especially in such a touristy area. Croissant was decent.

Delicious traditional French baked goods and patisserie. Butter involved! Always try to stop in while in Ottawa. Great sweets, cakes, fresh breads and coffee.
I tried it for pastries, typically french, and was not disappointed at all! The prices are quite fair for the quality. The croissants are Amazing! Fresh and tasting real butter. I'm really happy to know I have a good bakery next to my place. I'll definitly Come again fore these and try something else as well. The only thing that was already mentionned in other comments is that there are no prices tag, so that's a surprise until the bill. Not really fan if this concept. Other than that, I definitly recomand the place!
Amazing people with amazing food
I really like it here.
(Translated) First of all, a more than unpleasant and cold welcome. A salesperson anything but smiling. And what about the pastries ?! Other than that they are more than disappointing, there is nothing to do with French pastries. Quite simply, no know-how in terms of hospitality as much as food. DO NOT GO UNDER ANY PRETEXT, prefer IGA which is doing much better with a much more decent price.
It’s sad that with such a great location in the market and the potential, all you get is old dry pastries. You know you have the option of baking fresh in the morning that would make the day for people who feel like walking to the bakery to pick up fresh baked goods, but you choose to serve dry old ones.. but why?? today I lost hope in your store.. we are obviously not in Paris, but you can try??
(Translated) Cute place (Original) Mignon endroit
By far the best and most traditional French bakery I have found in ottawa. The croissants are amazing, the baguettes are lovely and all the breads are delicious and extremely fresh, also the pastries and coffee are amazing. The store is very tidy and clean and the staff are amazing. I have been coming here since I was little with my mother. This place is truly a jem.
Probably the best breads, pastry, cakes, pot au feu, service in the area!
Love this place! They have such great pastries and cakes, as well as meals. Always fantastic service, and very friendly staff! I highly recommend!
Incredibly mouth watering aroma in this bakery, and a feast for your eyes. Do not go in hungry! 5 Star without a doubt. I will be back sooner than later.
We really liked the lemon tarts we got, but the eclairs were... well, not eclairs. The chocolate on top and pastry was fine, but the filling was literal chocolate pudding. Not even vanilla, or a creme, but chocolate pudding. Id suggest going with a more traditional filling next time.
Amazing almond croissant! This french bakery is truly a hidden gem. Very typical french boulangerie.
Twelve (or was it fifteen?) years ago the croissants were nearly up to Parisian standards. But no more. Sad. I still enjoy the sourdough bread though.
Ordinary croissants. In response: thanks for condescendingly implying I don't know what a good croissant tastes like. You can keep your Costco pastries.
Not impressed by the bakery items- either bread/ baguette or eclair. Stopped at the bistro on the back for branch on weekend. I had tuna, and other person had French toast. Both were good, however it was not what we wanted to order. We wanted wild mushrooms dumplings and bacon potato. They run out of it. Well we came earlier next day, but surprisingly they out of it again. Was it even there?
(Translated) There is only French in the name. The wand was infamous. The crust was peeling off as if the bread had been frozen and I am not talking about the pains aux chocolat. In addition, the price of the products is excessive and the service leaves much to be desired. In short, I advise you not to go there. I just wish they would take the comments into account to improve.

Chocolate seasalt cookies... Mmmmm
I went there for the first time to buy their galette des rois and the old man at the cash was extremely rude. I called 20 mins before arriving at their store to ask if they had any galette de rois left and he told me he had two left, I asked if he could set one aside for me and he refused. I decided to take the chance and drove there, I arrived exactly 20 mins later and he told me he had none left, he decided to sell me “his own galette de rois” (which was very small and pricy pastry). but since I had already made the trip, I decided to buy it. When I walked out of store I decided to check inside the bag, only to find out the product was unfinished, I walked out with a piece of pastry cut in half with no filling or figurines inside the tart. I went back to complain and got the most rude and arrogant customer service ever, the idiotic old man accused me of cutting open the tart when I had literally left his store 30 seconds earlier (like if I had a knife to perfectly cut the tart in the middle, take out the filling, figurines, all in 30 seconds!). I was very offended that he dare make such accusation and I demanded my money back, which he did in the most rude way possible and even told me I was “ungrateful” because he had sold me his galette des rois, he even made gestures to leave his store (like if he was doing me a favor or giving me something for free). It is a shame that this was my first AND LAST visit there. It was a HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. I will NEVER go there again unless they get rid of this arrogant OLD MAN!
Excellent in every way.
5/5 for the pastries. As for the service, well...do you really want to know?
worst customer service I have ever experienced, I will never return back here.
It was my fault for going late in the afternoon so there wasn't much selection and the brioche I got was a little stale from sitting out all day. However, coffee was just ok. I really wanted to like this place but instead I was disappointed with this visit. I'll try again earlier in the day before I give up.
Low quality products. Pain au chocolat was like regular bread with some chocolate inside - way too dense, and not at all like a proper croissant. Baguette lacked flavour. Bottom line : there are many better bread and pastry bakeries in Ottawa, so don't waste your money here.
(Translated) Pastries clearly not of the day, very dry. The name is promising, but this is not a French bakery. In reply to the owner: I didn’t mean to be defamatory, if it was today I would believe you. What is certain is that it was way too dry (it was hard to bite into it) so inedible.
the food is delicious, we had the french toast. the service is extremely friendly.
These Croissants are unique in colour, texture and taste than any other Croissants in the city. Their Almond Croissant is equally good and not too sweet. I ended up trying their Brioche because they sold out of Croissants the day that I arrived to grab one with a quick cup of coffee. The Brioche is delicious and their coffee is excellent (Illy brand). We have tried their Espresso, Americano (Espresso shot with hot water). The seating is limited with a bar set up along the wall near the entryway. We have only ever been served by either the young man or woman. They were both very friendly and the older man was always in the back baking. While we were there, we noticed the Benny's Bistro menu (which looks very intreguing) and we look forward to trying it out.
Big place. Large selection. Ordinary tasting pastries.
(Translated) At $ 7 and a half for two chocolate and almond croissants, we would be looking for something better than the mediocrity I got. Virtually inedible, I would send the thing in a wall that it would make me a hole! I thought that the quality might be better than Michel's bakery in the center curtain, I got my finger in the eye! First and last time I buy food there / Inedible chocolate almond croissants. Thought that the French bakery could make decent stuff, but it's the first and last time I'm buying something there. I'd throw these croissants on a wall that they'd make a hole in it. I 'm so disappointed I'm getting pissed off. Thought that the French bakery could make decent stuff, but it's the first and last time I'm buying something there. I'd throw these croissants on a wall that they'd make a hole in it. I'm so disappointed I even had to give them a review because I'm pissed off I payed over 7 bucks and can't even return these stuff.
I bought a chocolate croissant and almond croissant. The almond croissant was amazing!I tried some in Ottawa. This is the best almond croissant !Must try.
Great little bakery with some delicious treats. The croissants were light, fluffy, but a little dry. The other treats looked amazing but I ran away before I got myself into trouble!
The bakery is small and has more of a get your pastries to go vibe, but that's okay! The selection of breads and sweet treats was good. But the taste and quality of the food was all there, I wished I had seconds. My cake and tart were both fresh and tasty. It is a bit pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for a French bakery. It's definitely worth it.
Yum!
Magnifique! A great bakery whose staples reflect just how great they are. It is unfortunate I had a bad tart a couple times, but I will return - that is how good their quality of staples are. Baguette (Traditional) 4.5 stars: - crisp crust - excellent color - well risen (nice variation of holes) - nice flavor from fermentation Croissant 4 stars: - very crisp exterior - good aroma and taste of butter Tarts 3.5 stars: - excellent crust - crisp, light, buttery, and excellent mouth-feel (overall) - lemon: sweet, tart, and very good lemon flavor - choose this if available - fruit/frangipane (apple/pear/almond): excellent frangipane with great texture, well rounded almond flavor - tart crust can vary. I had a tart crust that was over baked and it is unfortunate that it was still placed in the display case for purchase - 5 star tart otherwise
(Translated) Very poor quality service, 0 welcome, 0 know-how with customers (Original) Service de très Mauvaise qualité, 0 accueil, 0 savoir-faire avec les clients
their pastry was not that great was ok not the same as French bakery in france
The fraisier was stellat, as usual!! The service on the phone very pleasant, helpful & accommodating . Unfortunately, the young server in the front of the store was very cool & brusque. Not what I expected when I picked up my order & wanted to purchase some other baked goods. Some more customer service training might be in order. However, I would reorder le fraisier in a hot second!!
they now have an older French man at the register and he is extremely arrogant and rude..a real d.ck..will not go back there
The tartes are okay, but their croissants are clearly overrated. That blonde girl that works on Friday is clueless - they need to upgrade their personnel. I'll stick with Art Is In for my baked goods, thanks.
A great bakery with a wide range of excellent baked products and outstanding service!
The bakery shop is tidy and neat. The food I bought were good, but nothing outstanding. They were all something I have tasted elsewhere. They tasted a bit old and dry. The chocolate cookie was a bit mushy where there was chocolate, while I expected the cookie to be crispy thoroughly. The server was kind and friendly.
Suddenly had a craving for almond croissant. Luckily they were willing to put some aside for me this morning (as they were sold out within 2 hours yesterday)! The almond croissants did not disappoint. They were so buttery, flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. Absolutely delicious.
Good bread, coffee is fantastic
My croissant was stale and hard...came in here with high expectations and was thoroughly disappointed
The offerings were limited and looked stale. Still we love French pastries and decide to try. Disappointed, as our fears were confirmed as all of the selections we bought tasted days old.
(Translated) I tried the raisin roll which was tasty and very low in fat, as well as the fruit tart. To the eye and to the taste, it is clear that the ingredients used are fresh, of high quality and that there is real know-how. Considering these elements, the prices seemed reasonable to me. The welcome was friendly and I thank the French Baker for graciously replacing the lollipop that my son had dropped on the floor when he left the store :) (Original) J'ai testé le roulé aux raisins qui était savoureux et très peu gras, ainsi que la tartelette aux fruits.

(Translated) Nothing French I still have the bitter taste of my visit, nothing to do with the French bakery and pastry, the baguette no hard taste, and the pieces also limit inmangeables, one with pieces of candied fruit that have nothing to do in it ...
1st time things were a little overdone, 2nd time was awesome :).
I visit this place occasionally and I am always pleased with the service. A few days ago, I entered the bakery to purchase items, there was a worket sweeping, when I walked in, he politely said that he would help me. He stopped his task, went to the back and washed his hands before assiting me. I must say, I loved the consideration and respect that he washed his hands when changing tasks. So many establishments don't practice that, therefore it was refreshing to see that happen. That employee clearly knows the basics of good customer service and food safety. Good Job!
My almond tart wasn't fresh. Wanted a croissant but could tell they weren't the flaky style I like. The guy at cash was super nice. However when I had just opened my box, some guy who probably worked in the kitchen strode up to me and rudely asked if I needed my box. Twice. Excuse me? What were you planning to do, reuse it?! Absolutely appalled.
So happy the French Baker is open again! I love heading up Murray Street to work with my treat for the day. Always such great quality whether pastry or savoury.
everything is sooo good! take my money. i wish they were on UBER eats.
This place is a gem .Even though it's not fancy but the quality of their baked goods is impeccable and impressive. I travel 35 min to get their almond croissants. Everything is super tasty.
pretty good bakery
(Translated) The lemon pie was really not fresh. Shame. Bien dommage.
(Translated) What to say? Big disappointment (apart from the coffee). Super expensive for the quality offered. The names and especially the price of the pastries sold are not indicated. We swallow when we hear the price to pay ... I do not recommend at all. First and last time for my part. In short, nothing to do with a French bakery. (Original) Que dire?
Very disappointing - far from an authentic french bakery. Croissants were not flaky at all.
(Translated) Very cool (Original) Tres frais
My husband and I bought two pastries here early on a Sunday morning and they were so dry and stale we could barely eat them! The espresso however was pretty good and the service was friendly.
