I walked into to a cute family owned bakery. There was one gentleman working his heart out baking. They had tons of treats to choose from and it was very hard to decide which ones to get. I decided to try a chocolate chip cookie and an oreo cupcake. First the chocolate chip cookie was absolutely perfect, it had the right amount of sweetness and crispy edges but soft center. It was so so good!!! The cupcake was in a fridge and the worker advised me to let it set out so I did and it had good flavor but the cake was a bit to dry for me but overall good stuff

A small cute bakery on a lively street. Large choice of tasty pies, cookies, bread, baguette, croissants, merengue and danish-like treats - all made in house. They recently started carrying eclairs, but they are just average. Service is always very friendly.

I go to this bakery often, and never leave disappointed. There are other bakeries around, but this place has a lot of character, with the owner being very friendly and always trying to get you exactly what you want when you walk in. I live very close and went to grab a baguette for New years last night as a last minute snack. When I went in he'd sold out, but said he'll throw some in and to come back in 40 minutes, I do so and he had a fresh baguette set aside waiting for me. The quality is also fantastic, reminds me of the homemade bread I used to enjoy back home.

Brown Loaf offers friendly service and tasty bread but I disliked the fact that the man handling the bread was wearing gloves which he also used to handle dirty old money. Perhaps the fact that he wore blue latex gloves made me more conscious of it, but if a food handler is wearing gloves, he should remove them before handling cash. At the very least it's an optics issue; at worst, it's an unsanitary practice. In any case, it's an easy "fix."

Their fresh sourdough bread is so cheap and yummy, could not even help myself from finishing half the loaf on the way back home in this weather - you will have finished it and gone back for seconds, thirds and fourths before you even know it! Well worth making the trip for even in a snow storm! ;)

Cutest bakery ever! The shop owner is so wholesome, greets you with the biggest smile and is clearly so invested in his products and love what he does :) The matcha cookies are absolutely delightful and fluffy, a must try! Love this bakery and there’s a great variety of pastries and breads.

This bakery is as authentic as it gets! Opened by a Japanese man who studied french baking, this was his 3rd bakery! He then sold his business to a wonderful family who took it over! Times are difficult for small businesses but everything is always made fresh every morning! Please go and support this bakery! You can even call to make sure they have what you want set aside because breads sell out quick! Their coconut macaroons, blueberry scones and herb bread are stellar! But all breads are good !

I just moved here from Montreal and this was my first breakfast in Ottawa. I had the pleasure to meet Mr Yen, a kind and very good Baker! I tried his croissants and was really surprised at how DELICIOUS they were! The texture was unlike any croissant I've had before, very light, flaky, but buttery. This is different from previous croissant which are much heavier. I will definitely be going back to try more things. Great work Mr. Yen!

I think this is honestly the best bakery in the city. Everything I eat is fresh. If I’m interested in something, and they are in the middle of baking it, they let me know. Today it was butter tarts and they we just cooling off. It was still too hot so they wrapped it in a plastic bag to help it keep its warmth. If something is about to come out of the oven, I have even been offered that if I come back in 10 minutes that I could buy those croissants instead! The sweetest and kindest couple!
