This place has changed my life to a certain extent, with their staple country sourdough loaf, and INCREDIBLE baked good gems like their jam buns (weekends only) and cinnamon snails :) Every one of their bread loafs I’ve gotten thus far have been incredible. They don't mess around with their coffee program either; you can get both baked goods and your morning coffee all in one spot without compromising.

Small bakery and coffee shop on Wellington, uses the same entrance as Pharmasave so a little hidden. Coffee is well prepared and good, pastries are out of this world. 10 high stools I side and a couple of two seater tables outside when warm.

They also serve good specialty coffees, tea and other hot drinks. I would not be surprised if they move because the place is often crowded. I recommend. Great local bakery in hip neighborhood. They don't sell beer, but you can take your purchase down the street for that. Cinnamon snails are awesome and so too are the vegan veggie pizza slices. Order online for guaranteed food - they can sell out fast each day.

WOW.... If you really like bread, if you like great croissant with a great cup of espresso, this is the place. I finally took the time to try out this place after a couple of failed attempts because of timing and I can tell you it was worth the trip..... After months of searching for a place in Ottawa where the baguettes are baguettes and not some facsimile of some long round bread, I can finally satisfy my need for great bread in Ottawa. You get the best chewy fresh bread right out of the oven... And WOW, how great it is... Had it for supper that night with ham and some Brie with some wine ... Ahhhhhhhh. I'll be sleeping good tonight. The ladies at the shop were incredible. Friendly, helpful and all smiles, reminded me of a Parisian Boulangerie. If I lived close to this place I would be there every morning for a great cup of coffee, good company and the wonderful croissant. One warning however, the baker is an incredibly lovely lady, the kind who seems to take pride in her bread, ....my kind.

I asked her if there was any other phone she could use and she screamed at me saying '' How can you assume MY phone is the problem ''. I told her I did not know why she was so unhappy, but it was very rude and unprofessional of her. She simply hang up. All the breads are fluffy and inviting, perfect for sandwiches, dinners and cheeseboards. The bakers and service are super friendly and helpful. Right beside the Marche Market it's the perfect spot for grocery shopping in Hintonburg. One of my favourites!

Found this place about a month ago and have been back twice, it never disappoints. Expertly done pastries, light and dense/moist/buttery at the same time, I don't know how they do it. And the flavours are unique and not overpowering. The coffee is good too.

SUCH a terrific find! I loved this place at first sight and smell! My companions and I shared a chai latte, their hazelnut latte, a black Happy Goat coffee, a blueberry croissant (Danish?), a chocolate croissant, a maple croissant, and a cheese croissant -- they were all simply scrumptious! We all agreed that the pastries were some of the best (flakiest, tastiest, well-made ) we had ever tasted -- made fresh that AM! We actually brought twice as much as intended because our first serving was so delicious! This is a full-fledge bakery, with loaves of bread in addition to pastries. The eating area is small: there is a counter at the cash which has about 3 bar chairs, there is one table with 4 chairs, and there are two comfy chairs kitty-cornered to each other. The washroom is gorgeous and clean. Not sure if there is Wi-Fi (I didn't ask). This is not a place to chill for hours or to study (no room). Not sure if there are outlets, either. Parking is on the street (but I don't know if they have any customer parking of their own). All-in-all, I highly recommend this place, and foresee myself indulging here frequently. Mmmmmmm!

Highly recommend supporting this business whenever you can - if you order ahead online, lookout for the 'Pay it Forward' loaf of bread that will be donated to a local food bank with your help. I was looking for good bread in Ottawa... And finally, I found it! Not near my house, but I'll definitely take the detour to buy bread that tastes like homemade, bread that doesn't stale by the minute, great companion for fine cheese, but also for your "tartine du matin", simply with butter and jam. Bread by Us has a nice store in a nice street: you can park anywhere and go get your stuff, no complications.

I go here two or three times a week for a morning scone- apple granola. It’s my favourite baked good in the world and I will probably cry if they ever take it off the menu! They also have incredible seasonal treats- like hot cross buns at Easter (with no raisins!) and beautiful German Stollen at Christmas. Also, their sour dough is to die for. This is my favorite bakery in Ottawa! The sourdough is chewy and perfect, and their sweets are delicious. I also really like the coffee, but one of my favorite things about Bread By Us is that they give back to their community by managing a pay it forward program. This means that customers are able to pre-purchase a coffee, loaf of bread, or sandwich for someone who might not be able to purchase these things for themselves. It's a fantastic way for a business to give back to the community that surrounds them and makes the already amazing baked goods at Bread By Us taste just that much better.

My favourite bakery in the neighbourhood or even city?! The jam buns are wildly delicious as well as the cinnamon snails - flaky but somehow moist?! The ciabatta buns are also delicious and doughy and don't decimate your mouth like ciabatta buns normally do. I've also had the sourdough which was amazing. Lovely staff as well!!

Dropped by Bread By Us on a Saturday morning to pick up a coffee and snack. We got two Americanos and a cheese croissant. Coffee here is on point. Note that they have natural sweeteners like maple syrup and honey, and no artificial stuff like stevia. The cheese croissant was buttery, fluffy and crispy. It tasted delicious. We've been here a couple of times now and they're consistently great. Staff is really lovely too. You might have to wait in line on weekends.

Absolutely without a doubt the best bread in the city. Daily changing bread menu and well as sweets and focaccia pizza. The staff is kind and thoughtful and community oriented. They are careful and organized in the pandemic. Stock can be limited. Go early if you can. You can preorder bread online and pick it up. Multigrain on Saturday for example disappears in minutes, but is seriously the best bread I think I’ve ever had.

Stopped in by chance, and glad I did! Got a strawberry danish and a cookie, and gobbled both up before I thought to take a picture. The staff were very friendly as well. There is a little bar for indoor seating and looks like in the summer you can sit outside. Definitely will be back to try the section of teas and more importantly the bread!

First time visitor and it was a great brunch decision! On Wednesdays, they have a Halifax style donair which is all made in house. The way the wrap was toasted enhanced the other elements in the sandwich. The textures and flavours all worked very well together, especially the beef. It was not very salty like most donairs I've had. I asked for a recommendation for tea and received a cranberry apple herbal tea. This was very fruity and citrusy, perfect on a rainy day. For dessert, I bought a croissant with strawberry balsamic jam. I asked to have the croissant warmed up to taste the butter flavour. It was definitely a must buy! Overall my experience was awesome and I would definitely come back again to try their porchetta!

I visit this bakery often and have never been disappointed. Their breads are second to none, their pastries are delicious, and their staff are very nice. They don't make every type of bread every day, but will do special orders with notice. My favourite bakery, hands down.

Very very nice. I would agree this is the best bakery shop in Ottawa. I loved the double chocolate cookie the most, but let’s be honest, I loved all of them. The pastries are reasonably priced as well! Definitely would go back.

The best pastries in Ottawa, in my opinion, and also the best bread. I’m always torn between arriving early (to get a pastry before they sell out), or later (to get the sourdough when it comes fresh out of the oven, and maybe a focaccia slice too). But they do have preorders to avoid these kinds of dilemmas. I also appreciate that they pay their workers a living wage, and have a suspended system where you can buy an extra of something and leave it for someone who needs it that day. Just all-around good folks and tasty treats.

Very disappointed. I called last Sunday to put a loaf aside and they said that the rule is to place orders the day before. I can understand that so today, Saturday at 1:30 pm I tried to place an order for Sunday and this time they said orders are taken the day prior before noon. This crucial detail is not on their website and was not explained to me the week before. They're too strict, too many petty rules, the hours are very limited. They don't make it easy for the customer to buy their bread. In factf it's frankly stressful. They're not accommodating or even compassionate with customers who may have awful work schedules and busy weekends. They treat their employees exceedingly well, and that's very good. Wish they treated their loyal customers just as well. I was one. Not anymore.

Amazing bread!! I usually go for their Herb Focaccia and chocolate chunk cookies. The bread is incredible on its own or with oil and balsamic. The schedule of the time the different breads come out of the oven is up on their webpage. This is super handy since their bread sells fast. Definitely a must visit for bread lovers.

My favourite bakery/cafe. Their inclusive and simple environment makes anyone who goes there feel welcomed. If you haven't had one of their croissants yet- you are missing out. They sell out quick on the weekends so best to get baked goods during the weekday. None of that "hipster' or trendy scheme that seems to be a common medium for hintonburg businesses. The customer service is excellent. Everyone is kind and in a good mood. I really like how the back room where all the baking takes place is open and visible. You can tell that the owners pay attention to detail.
