A Centretown staple so monumental it barely needs an exterior sign on its storefront. These are the best cookies in the entire city. Yup, that is not an exaggeration. The perfectly chocolate cookie will make you shed tears of joy, just a heads up. Also, their breakfast croissant sandwich is pretty much unbeatable, especially at the price. Thank you Bread & Sons for existing. I love you.

My favorite bakery downtown. The open concept vibe of the store is an experience in itself. Everything I've tried from the bakery has been great. Their coffee is lightly roasted, which brings out more of the notes and acidity in the coffee, which isn't my taste, but my wife likes it.

The food and beverages here are amazing! Yes it's all vegetarian food but that doesn't matter! The staff has always been kind and welcoming. I also really love how they support local producers. This isn't a place I'd recommend you stay to eat in but it's really handy for grab and go. The only downside is they aren't open on weekends but if you stock up that shouldn't be a problem!

Superb thin-crust pizza and the (European style) hazlenut chocolate cookies are worth crossing Ottawa for... The daily-baked products, the business culture and the support of local suppliers make this a 10 star. Note the long ques around lunch time and yet the service is fast so no worries. Seating is rustic, cramped and always full so this is more a take-out unless you find a rare quiet time. Food appears from the ovens almost all day long - be there when pizza first appears (11:30 I think). Open Monday to Friday daytime.

Lively Popular music greeted me as I entered the bakery. I walked up to the cashier. Then I heard some-one call me above the music. “Larry! Larry!” I turned to face the man standing across the counter. It was Yoav, the Baker and owner of Bread and Sons! I told him that I was amazed that he remembered me! We exchanged greetings and had a short conversation. Then Yoav had to leave to pick up his children. Afterwards, I chose a slice of vegetarian pizza, a cup of coffee, and a cinnamon swirl. They were delicious! As I enjoyed the light meal. I sat in reflection. Then I realized it had been 12 years since we last talked as I was a regular of his place back then. My little experience shows you just how “down-home and welcoming” one of my favourite places still is today at Ottawa!

Awesome. Pizza is great and they really understand that the pizza IS the crust, the crust is what's most important. If you put great toppings on a bad crust, it all sucks. The toppings are just that - toppings. And they do the toppings right, nice and light compliment to the crust. Breads and sons knows pizza. Everything else is awesome too.

Here few times, pizza is good, dessert is fine, but I bought this egg salad sandwich which is $9, and I can only eat the egg salad, cucumber and cheese…way too much herbs…and the bread is so hard…almost lost my teeth, I gave two stars for the foods, staff is friendly. I'll be here again for pizza. But not for sandwich again

Best pizza for lunch. They have veggie pizzas that are out of this world!! Pastries for all types of tastes and best coffee. These ladies work like no other and food and beverages are always fresh and tasty. There's a Tim Hortons beside it and I will judge you if you go there instead of Bread and Son's. Grab a Loaf for home and some muffins for a quick break fast. My favorite are the Bean rolls. So filling and taste mighty fine! I love that I can just stroll in, get a smile and see that they have already started my 4shot soy latte! You know that place is perfect when they make you feel special... Still reading? If you're in the area and looking for lunch, this is a pretty great stop. Keep in mind however, while they used to take orders in advance for pizzas (and it's one of the few spots that can make a vegan pizza), they have begun to turn down these orders. Myself and a couple of other friends have hard a really hard time with some of the staff around this issue - not all of them were on the same page.

LOVE THIS PLACE!! The baked goods are SO GOOD that I've stopped baking and just come here instead. Everything tastes homemade. My favourite things are the Carrot & Walnut Muffin, the Date & Coconut Muffin, and the massive Chocolate Chip cookie with bits of orange rind. I want everyone to know about this place so that they stay in business forever and I can keep buying their delicious treats. Service is always pleasant, and although the place is small, I only ever grab and go so that's not an issue for me.

Favourite Centretown bakery. I've been recommended Bread & Sons to friends, family, and colleagues since I discovered this little gem around 5 years ago. The pizzas were always fantastic (anything with ricotta or feta were particular favourites). As well, I came to love their roasted potato sandwich. Authentic Parisian croissants, just the way you'd find them along the streets in Paris. Crisp, crunchy exterior with a chewy, buttery soft inside. Sour dough breads are awesome too. 1. Staff are amazingly friendly! 2. Good selection of vegan options 3. The tempeh sandwich, last but not the least important point here (but, the best for last, like eating the top of a muffin last! (Their vegan pumpkin one!!)) Anyways, So back to the sandwich... Time stops while eating it, it's that good! Perfect combination of crunch with their baked focaccia bread, spicyness with their vegan mayo, sweetness with the caramelized onions, and "meatness" with their specially marinated and prepped tempeh!!

This is home to the best cookie in Ottawa. This delicious chocolate orange cookie is out of this world. I love everything here. It's hard to discriminate when everything is so darn good. The pizzas are amazing but my favorite is "my Italian grandma." Sanwhiches are equally delicious and my favorite is the avocado sandwich. By far my favourite bakery for a quick bite. Here are some of my recommendations: 1) chocolate babka 2) bean roll 3) any of their cheese pastries 4) chocolate chip cookies (they add a little orange flavour to their cookies which gives it that perfect sweet balance) 5) their pizzas for sure!! Toppings range from fresh mushrooms to sun-dried tomatoes) They also serve warm drinks and occasionally make grilled cheese sandwiches. Also, they have a wide variety of teas with flavours such as salted caramel. I highly recommend stopping by if you're on the go.

I have been a regular costumer at Bread and sons for at least 2 years . They have never failed me . Amazing selection of quality bakery that is locally sources and strictly vegetarian . Selection is fairly wide and pleases all tastes . Breakfast and lunch menus are equally delicious . Line up is busy but moves fast . Only thing is I would recommend pick up as space is too tight and not well- ventilated . In my experience , Best bakery in Ottawa .

At first glance this is an unassuming place. Their baked goods are amazing though. Its a question of the quality of ingredients. Everything is fresh and, as much as possible, locally sourced. I would strongly recommend their cookies, but I have yet to find anything that I haven't enjoyed. Be warned about 2 things. 1)The menu is vegetarian. Don't expect pepperoni on their pizzas. 2) it is a little pricy, but given the quality, I wouldn't complain.

Easily my favorite bakery... possibly even eatery... in Ottawa. The Pizza and baked goods are excellent - as evidenced by the myriad of positive reviews on this site. Their vegetarian sandwiches are my favorite, though. Always made with fresh and local ingredients (cheeses, vegetables, tempeh, etc) and served on one of their delicious variations of bread. Also, since their bread is only made with high quality ingredients, I never feel tired or lethargic afterwards!

Sourdough bread is incredible and I may have an unhealthy addiction to their bean rolls ;) Dipped in mustard they taste like healthier (and better) versions of pogos! I've had their pizzas before too, very yummy. I don't like thick crust and this one is perfect. They sell vegan pizzas, which is great, but even the ones with cheese aren't overloaded with it. I haven't had many of their other baked goods but I wouldn't hesitate. Never been disappointed here.

I am an unabashed fan of Bread and Sons and have been so for quite some time! Their pizzas, sold by the slice, are thin-crust and loaded with all sorts of interesting toppings. Their croissants and chocolatines would give Paris croissanterie a run for its money. Their winter soups are hearty and tasty, their summer choices divine. I would never buy my bread from anyone else in Ottawa. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable though not always the most efficient. Noise levels at peak time are a trifle high. But, the food.....is top notch and worth the long waits and crowds at peak times.

100% hands down best lunch bakery and pizza downtown. The focaccia pizzas are incredibly scrumptious and the hazelnut chocolate cookie is the best cookie in town. The pizzas and croissants are to die for and we almost always get the spinach spiral and the feta sesame square in our religiously weekly order :) Love this place!!

Here is perfect place for my breakfast!! Not too big place, they have some tables, Kind staff, amazing food and coffee. I got chocolate&hazelnut scone, tomato&chives quiche, black bean roll and focaccia. All of them were really awesome made me happy. I highly recommend this place.

I finally got to try Bread&Sons! I enjoyed all the pastries I got. Hand pie, and chocolate hazelnut cookie were my favorite. The almond custard croissant and the quiche were nice as well. I would visit again!

Nice small shop. They have a few spot to sit but it's more of a pick and go style. They produce some very good eats in the downtown area but can be pricey. Bread lovers, be sure to try theirs.

Very good products. The coffees, croissants, cookies and pizza are delicious. However, everything is overpriced and some portions are ridiculously small. A very tiny butter croissant (maybe 1/3 the usual size of a croissant): $1.75 + tx. Very tiny chocolate croissant: $2.14 + tx. If not for those ridiculous prices, I would give a solid 5.

I love this bakery so much. I live 10 min walk and come at least twice a week. Everything I try is always so delicious and fresh,always leaves me amazed at how good it tastes.Not the cheapest bakery, but you pay for the quality and craftsmanship that goes into making high quality baked goods and treats. Only downside is they aren’t open on the weekends but it’s understandable with COVID-19. Keep up the great work!

This photo of a customer's napkin doodle love note sums it up nicely - the coffee is great but I keep coming back for the sandwiches. A true Bank Street gem. There usually isn't much space to sit during the early morning coffee run and lunch rush so be sure to find a backup plan in case you need to hibernate indoors for a while.

Delicious fresh-baked cookies, croissants, scones. Very good americano. A couple of tables indoors and out, to a total of 8 chairs. Stopped back around lunch time and discovered an array of pizzas had appeared fresh from the oven! A great place to grab a treat on the run.

This is my go-to place for a treat during the work day - the ginger cookies (with chunks of ginger inside) are my favourite. The pizza makes for a nice, light lunch. It's a bit of a cramped space (especially with all the people coming in and out), but you can usually get in and out pretty quickly. The staff are always polite and professional.

Hands down best pizza in Ottawa and easily within my top 5 pick for the entire world. This little gem, while only open during typical business hours, also happens to be the only place I have found to date outside of France that serves an actual croissant. If you haven't tried it yet, you must.
